My family goes here because it is so relaxing. The staff makes sure that your stay is wonderful. The grounds and rooms are beautiful. The pool is so inviting. It is not far from a little town called Bucerias where there are wonderful restaurants, a flea market, and art galleries.
My wife & I spent 6 days/5 nights at this resort. Other than walking up the beach to Bucerios, we did not leave the property! Incredible pool, and direct access to a stunning beach. Plenty of food ... GOOD food, and the staff is exceptional. We'll be going back!
First, I must apologize for the delayed review! My husband and I were there in January, 2017 and it was beautiful! I must give a shout out for all the servers, housekeeping, beach, oh just everyone who made our vacation so memorable! Aldo, Sergio, Ronian, Rigo, Raul, Manager Sergio, Ivan and I know I'm forgetting names. Our first night was fabulous! At the end of our dinner, which was excellent, we were served a cake with a huge, sparkler candle and huge hats for our 40th Anniversary! My husband and I decided to leave the cell phones in the room! So we have no pics of this fun! It was such a surprise and started off the rest of our stay in a wonderful way! There was never a moment that we weren't attended to and always with a greeting and smile. Our room was always clean and smelled lovely. We had one little issue...someone, during "turn-down," thought my unique blush compact was something that they needed to have and took it. Sad to say, it was gone forever. Ivan helped us try to find it, but to no avail. Other than that, each day was special and at our very last dinner, we were served with a dessert and written on it was "We will wait Midge and David for you"....and all the servers came to give it to us! Oh, the hats were worn again! We love our preferred resort, Villa del Palmar Flamingos, and will be returning as soon as we can! Thank you to all the staff!
We are delayed in getting our thanks to you but want to send our appreciation for making our Spring Break wonderful and relaxing. We enjoyed visiting with you and your attentiveness to our requests. Having a friendly and professional staff member like you is a definite plus for V D P Flamingos.Weisz from Wyoming
I stayed here with my family including 7 and 9 year old boys. I was a little biased in the positive direction by most of the reviews I read here on trapdoors before arriving and I was biased a little in the negative direction by staying at the fancier Garza Blanca resort on other side of bay for four days before arriving at the Palmas for four days. (Garza BVlanca owned by same group as owners of this convo complex, btw). Overall I was unimpressed by this resort. I was disappointed that there was ongoing construction of a high rise resort immediately adjacent to the rooms in building 1 where I had my initial room, with almost no view of ocean. Workers started at 7am and the beep beep beep of constriuction trucks backing up started about that hour, looks like this could go on for at least 6 months so beware. At $500 US for a two bedroom, I was less than impressed by this ambience. To their credit I was moved next day to more modern building 3, but even these rooms still substantially older and less luxurious compared with Garza Blanca two bedroom suites, at the same price. I found the sales pitching of time shares at both resorts annoying. After reading about them I skipped the actual sales pitches, but by doing so you lose out on a 15% discount on food and excursions, seems too "sales oriented" resorts to my liking,...I was also somewhat perturbed by the tipping policy, upon arrival I was told (or understood) that 12.5% would be added to all services at departure time. Then I found a "suggested tip" of 12.5% added to my bill at each meal, even though it was described as "suggested" it is defineltly added to each bill total. Then you are asked to (or find waiters greatly frown if you don't) provide an "extra tip" on each bill. Therefore there are seemingly three tips but actually at checkout it seemed that no third tip is applied, I must have heard wrong at checkin. In any case, I would have appreciated the resort either adding mandatory 20 or 25 % tip at time of service or making it at the discretion of user, I think their tip system is wrong, thats just me. Food is ok, not great. Go to breakfast buffet early before 9am for best food and least noise. Positives of resort is positive attittude of staff and beach and bodysurfing and SUPing. Also walk up to Brucelias for great food and kitesurfing, the best beach of all is about 500 yards North of resort just past the Decamanetor(?spelling) in Bucerias, Super sand, less silt in water, bigger waves breaking slightly farther off shore. All beach in Mexico is public.I think to make resort a better experience, they should streamline tipping, drop the sales pitches and concentrate on the current customer, not the time share sales. But I guess this is their business model and it works for them . I would not stay here again.
