Villa del Palmar Flamingos
- What's Included
- All Inclusive Features
We (self, spouse, children ages 26, 25 and 18) spent the week before Christmas 2016 at the Villa del Palmer Flamingos. This is the third VDP property we have stayed at. Facility not as new/nice as Cancun, probably a bit nicer than Cabo. All are top notch. Property is less than 30 min. from airport, approx 45 min. from Puerto Vallarta center, no more than 10 min. to village of Bucerias.Property is adjacent to another Villa Group property, La Estancia. We didn't use the all inclusive offering at the resort. Most days we ate breakfast in our unit, lunch on the property, and dinner off site. One nice we ate at the steakhouse La Casona at the La Estancia. It is a high quality restaurant. Another nice we ate at the Mexican theme note on property. It was decent to good. We found several good restaurants in Bucerias which is a 25-30 min. walk along the beach or a $10 cab ride. Used Yelp with good results to select restaurants. Bucerias has a nice art district a block off the beach with a number of restaurants/bars nearby. It also has a sizable market area selling touristy items. We bought our breakfast fixings at the on-site market. I did notice several large supermarkets within a few miles. My son and I did 2 dives at Los Arcos, which is on the south side of Bandaris Bay, approx 40 min. by boat from the marina in Nuevo Vallarta where our dive shop, Scuba Steve, was located. We wore 3mm wetsuits. Temperature was fine. Reefs were pretty bare with vegetation and colorful coral but we saw a lot of sealife including a number of large schools of fish, several sea turtles, spiny lobsters, at least 10 moray eels, etc.We had a two bedroom accommodation on the 6th floor with a long balcony and a great view of the pools, beach, and ocean. Chairs were generally available both at pools and at beach. Sand is nice. You can walk miles in each direction along the beach. A number of water attractions were available at the beach. Vendors hawked their wares outside the areas the resort roped off for guests by didn't hassle.Overall a great destination and a very enjoyable family vacation.
My wife and I stayed here for 11 nights in January. We don't really have anything negative to say about the Flamingos, other than they like to charge for everything. For example, WIFI is only available at a cost of $10 USD per device. I think it should be complementary at least in the lobby, but no, it wasn't. Most supermarkets have it (i.e.. Mega, Walmart, etc) and that's where we went to access it. Also Starbucks has it.There is a lot to pressure to do the time-share presentations. It's very time-consuming. We just said no. One hotel group offered two free air tickets if you sat through their presentation. It turned out that they weren't offering that at all, so beware. We used our kitchenette daily. We shopped mostly at Mega which is only a 25 minute walk from Flamingos. There are really only two restaurants at the resort, and it was going to cost us about $105 USD per person per day to do the all-inclusive.
My wife and I bought into a time share on our first visit to this resort in March. We then returned with our adult kids in May to celebrate graduations from college. We talked to Menahen Paredes and immediately upgraded our timeshare to an every year program! Menahen was awesome! He even got us an upgrade to a 2 bedroom penthouse! I highly recommend the villa del palmar resorts as they are all beautiful and the staff is amazing! We are all set to visit the cancan resort in April and we can't wait! Thanks to Menahen for giving us an excellent option to buy up into our plan!
I stayed here on short 2 night stay mainly because I wanted to be in close proximity for a wedding. I was solo in this case which is probably not common for this resort location, seems to be more family/couples oriented, but it worked out very well for me and I would recommend to anyone, whether solo or large group/families. I stayed in single king room, nice size with spacious outdoor balcony, in room kitchen, safe, everything I needed. There is a decent convenience market on site, I consider this a big plus since not at an urban location. - Great beachfront location, beautiful weather (wish I could stay longer !)- Taxi from airport and back was easy- Safe, secure & comfortable- Hotel staff/reservations was honest about everything (They do lots of of time-share business but nobody put sales pressure on me)- Entire staff was very helpful and friendly- Located near small town of Bucerias (about one mile to north) easy walk
This is our second stay at this resort and our 3rd stay with the villa group.I love walking in to the beautiful, clean and spacious lobby. From the lobby you can see the pools & the ocean, it instantly makes you feel relaxed and puts you in a happy place. The check in process is always smooth, the staff is pleasant and efficient. After checking in you will be directed to a concierge. This person will give you info about your stay, tell you how to buy activities, and try to book you for a time share presentation. My advice is work out some good incentives to go to the presentation (free massages, free activities, etc) then attend the presentation but DO NOT BUY!! Again, DO NOT BUY THE TIME SHARE!! (Trust me, we bought)The esthetics:The grounds are luscious, beautiful and very well maintained. The rooms are decorated with a Mexican theme. They are spacious, clean, and comfortable. You can tell there is high attention to detail here. Every area is clean and beautiful! The food:Overall I would say the food is average. This resort doesn't offer anything too special when it comes to food. If you did not purchase the all inclusive meal plan, then you should go out and explore some of the restaurants PV has to offer. Also, I really do not think the all inclusive meal plan is worth the money, unless you are getting a very good deal or eat A LOT of food. Regular price is $105 usd p.person p.night. Honestly, my husband & I ate at the resort every day and did not even spend $100 daily for the both of us. Yes, this included all 3 meals. We decided to go to the grocery store & pick up some drinks & snacks for the week (spent like $50). I will include some of prices I can remember so you can get an idea of costs. Also, please keep in mind that when we went the dollar was worth between 20-22 pesos. Prices in usd:Breakfast buffet is $15.50 per personRoom service ranges from about $6-15 (has b.fast, lunch, dinner options)Pizza $10La tratoria (italian restaurant) ranges from about $12-25 platesEl Patron at night (pretty good Mexican food) average about $12-15 platesThe grill/bar area has a nice selection of lunch options (burgers, salads, sandwiches, some Mexican options, some seafood) I would say the average is about $8-10 plates. We attended the "beach party" for $20 p.p it included buffet dinner (good selection of food!) open bar, and live music & entertainment directly on the beach from 6:30 -10pm. Totally worth it! The Staff:Always attentive and courteous. Special shout out to Javier & Gilberto for providing great personable service. The Spa:Totally worth it! Treat yourself! Arrive about 1 hour before your service so that you can take advantage of the wet area. Tips:-No cash hotel. Bring a credit card.-Tips are always included but nice to leave extra :)
