A charming hotel with a swimming pool area with a quiet ambiance for relaxation. Not on the beach, but with use of the beach of its sister hotel, Canto del Sol, across the street.

Location: In the hotel zone, 10 minutes to downtown, 10 minutes from the airport.

One Bedroom Suite

My husband and I stayed here for a three day weekend getaway. Not wanting to go broke for just a weekend getaway we opted to stay at this inexpensive hotel. At check in we were asked if we would like to a 90 min. tour of their sister hotel which is across the street for the a three day all-inclusive deal at the sister hotel. As soon as we decided to go for it they put our all-inclusive bracelet on and said we go across the street(small alley way) and eat and drink and enjoy all the festivities of Canto Del Sol. Our room was huge it had a kitchenette, 2 couches and a separate bedroom. The room was clean and stocked. The next morning we went to our 90 min. presentation. It wasn't too hard of a sell and they kept it at 90 min. It was nice to be able to enjoy all the activities of the Canto Del Sol but able to retire in the evening to our quiet across the street suite. Our balcony of our room faced the front of the street. So, it was nice to see the quaint activity going around and in front of us. We could also see a little bit of the ocean too. I have been to Puerta Vallarta many times and each time we stayed somewhere different and in different areas. Some hotels that I have stayed in the past have cost a whole lot more and their room looked as similar to Villas Vallarta rooms. I have no complaints and we had a great time Villas Vallarta Canto Del Sol.

Another amazing stay at Villas Vallarta by Canto del Sol

My husband and I just returned home after a 2 week stay at Villas Vallarta June 15th- June 29th 2016 preceded by a stay of 163 days Oct. 2015 - April 2016. We have been going to this resort for many years. This is an older hotel but it is being updated constantly. We find our stay at the Villas is very comfortable and quiet. The staff and guest service are amazing and are very willing to go out of their way to make your stay a pleasurable experience. I am sure this is a huge part of why so many repeat vacationers come here year after year. Some of the rooms are dated but still very comfortable and clean thanks to the very hard working cleaning staff. Many of the rooms have been or in the process of being totally renovated. A beautiful new rooftop restaurant has just been completed for you to enjoy your breakfast. The pool area has been resurfaced along with a new bar. The location of this resort is perfect with beach access across the street via the public access. Many amenities including restaurants, shopping, liquor store, laundry service, banks, pharmacy, hair salons, massage,Mega store 3 blocks away to name a few. Thank you to all the staff for another enjoyable vacation.

Stay away from this place!! Dingy, dark and insecure hotel not suitable for families.

Stayed during a weekend getaway in Puerto Vallarta, mainly because of the attractive price and somehow “central” location. This is an old, run down hotel that feels and actually IS pretty insecure. Villas Vallarta works as part of “Canto del Sol” hotel that is located across the street. There is an open reception and very dark hallways that anybody can easily access from the street. After 6PM there’s no one in the Villas Vallarta building; security being almost inexistent and as we discovered later, there’s also no CCTV in any area of the hotel, leaving the property completely open to anybody to access from the street. It is important to mention that the surroundings of the hotel feel and look insecure. It is a place full of unoccupied commercial spaces, “massage” parlors and wine stores. Not the place you want to be with kids or at night and certainly not in a hotel with long, dark hallways, wide open to anybody to access from the street.During the last evening of our stay, we went out for dinner with some friends. The valet asked at which time do we expected to come back to the hotel, because they would need to park the car in another lot, adjacent to Canto del Sol Hotel. That evening, we got an iPhone and other effects robbed from our room. We discovered that the maid took one of our keycards (the spare one that we were not using) from inside the room that afternoon, after being called to clean the bathroom as the shower leaked and flooded the floor. Next morning, customer service reviewed the register of our room’s keycard lock and the found that someone entered the room approximately 15 minutes AFTER we left for dinner, using one of our guest’s keycards. Employees of this hotel and sister property Canto del Sol are taking advantage of the clear lack of surveillance and security of Villas Vallarta to steal the customers. It was clear for us that the maid and valet were colluded as they knew we were going out and not coming back until midnight. Guest service was almost inexistent; we found they don’t have CCTV in any public space or hallway and they never replied back our emails, nor gave us a simple apology. They seemed to be used to that kind of events happening in this property. If you are planning a vacation with family of kids, this definitely is not the place you want to be. Please do yourself a favour and book in another hotel.

Consistently Disappointing!!!

We had stayed at this hotel 10 years ago and vowed to never come back. But as providence would have it we decided to give them another chance. We traveled to Puerto Vallarta for our daughters Gymnastic Competition. We are a family of six so it is often difficult to find a villa that will accommodate us, hence the reason for our return stay. The first negative that we experienced was even before we booked our stay. On Friday I received a price quote from our travel agent. When I booked the room on the following Monday the hotel had increased their prices by around $1000 pesos a night and told our travel agent that it was because of the gymnastics event across the street at Canto Del Sol. (Most hotels offer a discounted package to the participants and families of the competitions instead of taking advantage of them by increasing their prices.) Even so, we were unable to find another villa, so we booked our stay. Upon check-in we were given a information list of "how things work". (Where to get the pool towels, water, breakfast etc.) However nothing on the list seemed to match up with what was really offered. No towels were pool side as specified. No water bottles were provided in the rooms. No water stations were provided to refill the water bottles. (All of which were specified in the informative sheet.) When I asked someone about the towels, I was informed that we needed to get them at the front desk. No one was at the desk, when they finally showed up I asked about the water bottles. They said I would need to buy them. I mentioned to informative sheet that I was given and she said they could give me 2 complimentary bottles, even thought we were paying prices for 6 adults. I asked about the "filling stations" and was told they were only located at Canto del Sol and we were not allowed to use them. I decided to throw out the information sheet as it didn't really seem to be very helpful after all. Over the stay we discovered that the desk attendant's hours were limited. When we asked for assistance we were directed to across the street to Canto del Sol. The rooms-I will say that they have tried to update the rooms "a little" over the last decade. Old bedspreads have been replaced with white comforters with a colorful runner across the bottom of the bed, which matches the relative recently covered furniture. Although the chairs and sofa had been recovered they were still broken down from excessive use. The TV is old school box television, no LED or Flat screens. The kitchenette was clean and meager, but the refrigerator was very old. Looked like something out of the 1950s. The kind with the icebox inside that creates excessive frost. After 3 days we had to dig everything back out of the ice. The seal on the refrigerator door was so old that the door did not close you had to hold it there for several seconds so that it would not swing open but instead just balance close to the rest of the fridge. The two bedroom unit was cooled by an old school AC which was very noisy and smelled dank and musty. Sheets and towels were clean. The pool-Nice, clean but small. They do have new pool furniture. There is a pool bar, but no one tending it. A phone with a note, "call for service" was left on the bar. I can't remember if the not was in both English and Spanish or only Spanish. Maintenance men beat and banged replacing patches of tile the entire time we were there. Although I did not enjoy living in a construction zone, I was glad that they were trying to upkeep the place a needs it. Overall, had we been paying $1000 pesos a night it would have been tolerable, but at the tune of over $3000 pesos per night, it was a huge disappointment. I'm going to begin searching now for a villa that will accommodate 6, just incase we return to next years gymnastics competition. I really hope to never come back to Villas Vallarta!
