Awesome Resort!

We stayed at this resort from November 17 - November 24th by booking an all inclusive through west jet, and I have to say I would go again to This resort. It's cheaper than booking have a five star, and you have all inclusive access to both the Villas and the sister resort Canto Del Sol across the street! I'm gonna start off with the check in, it wasn't the best to be honest. But it wasn't horrible. It took us a little bit to get checked in as a room wasn't ready (I can't really blame them though we didn't get there till after 9:30) but we did not receive towel cards as we checked in. We ended up asking our WestJet representative the next day and we went to guest service and they got us some. Not really a big deal, just a minor inconvenience. The rest of the experience was phenomenal! There was a soccer tournament going on, and it was also Mexico's Independence Day on the 20th so a lot of the locals were hotel for the weekend but they were all friendly! During the weekend with it being so busy they had breakfast lunch and supper at the villas, as well as at the Canto Del Sol across the street! Otherwise during the week they only serve breakfast at the Villas, all other meals (including breakfast if you wish)have to be at the Canto. The food was delicious! Lots of variety, and there's always something to eat especially for picky eaters like me. We stayed in a room that was on the third floor facing the buildings across the street. The room was awesome! Nice and spacious, clean. Even though we were facing the building across the street, we still had a nice view of the mountains, not a lot of the building. The only downside to our room was that the air-conditioner was blowing right on us as we were sleeping. They have nightly shows over at the Canto so you won't be bored after your supper. I would highly recommend going Tuesdays for their Mexican night. They put on a phenomenal dinner and show for everybody. The show's at the Canto are at the luxury pool, except for Mexican night. You can get there going past the guest service desk, we had to ask somebody because it would have took us forever to find it otherwise. Most of all the staff made the whole experience better! They are all helpful, friendly and cheerful! Wonderful job! At the Canto, Juan and Antonio were often on the beach and they are fantastic! There are two Victors that work in the dining area that are awesome as well! They really make you feel like family! In closing, would I stay at this resort again? Yes I would, hands down. I've stayed a couple of resorts in PV so far this has been one of the best ones!

What a wonderful place!

My partner and I spent Oct. 26th to Nov. 3rd at Villas Vallarta which is a sister hotel of Canto Del Sol. Must say this is one of the better resorts we have stayed at in the last half dozen trips to P.V.! The Villas Vallarta is behind the Canto Del Sol and has large rooms and balconies and we managed to get upgraded to a suite with kitchenette. Had a full sized fridge, two burner stove and huge shower. Everything about the room, the balcony and the pool was superb! The building is just across the way from the Canto Del Sol and it is so easy to get to Canto for breakfast, lunch and dinner (had all inclusive). The food was excellent and the variety was there for every meal. And the service throughout both resorts was way above some of the 5 star resorts we have been to! The main pool was excellent and if you like to just soak in the water the entire pool is surrounded by a sitting level so you can just relax without going all the way in! Great if you have challenges with getting in and out of the water! There was a convention going on while we were there so The Canto Del Sol was really going the whole way with entertainment too. All in all it was a fantastic place and our choice will still be the Villas Vallarta because the rooms are great, there is a pool in the building and the balconies are way bigger than at the Canto Del Sol. Be aware too that the Canto is partial timeshare so you will be asked to do a MEETING but there is no real pressure so it's not a big deal. And if you are a non smoker (I just quit so it was great!) you will love this place. The only place you can smoke is by the steps to the beach and one other place. Other than that it is smoke free! The only down side of this trip was flying Sunwing! When we booked the listing indicated it was direct to PV and back so that was what we believed it was. But much to our surprise our return was from PV to Vancouver and then on to Edmonton which made the flight an extra 2 and a half hours! We didn't find out about this until we got the flight confirmation by email about a week later. Had we known the return was not direct we would definitely not have booked through Sunwing. Many people on our flight back didn't even know there was a Vancouver stop and needless to say they and we were not impressed! We will NEVER EVER book Sunwing again because of their misleading listing!!! But we will definitely take another week at Villas Vallarta/Canto Del Sol...it was an excellent week and thanks to them for all the great service!!

One Bedroom Suite

My husband and I stayed here for a three day weekend getaway. Not wanting to go broke for just a weekend getaway we opted to stay at this inexpensive hotel. At check in we were asked if we would like to a 90 min. tour of their sister hotel which is across the street for the a three day all-inclusive deal at the sister hotel. As soon as we decided to go for it they put our all-inclusive bracelet on and said we go across the street(small alley way) and eat and drink and enjoy all the festivities of Canto Del Sol. Our room was huge it had a kitchenette, 2 couches and a separate bedroom. The room was clean and stocked. The next morning we went to our 90 min. presentation. It wasn't too hard of a sell and they kept it at 90 min. It was nice to be able to enjoy all the activities of the Canto Del Sol but able to retire in the evening to our quiet across the street suite. Our balcony of our room faced the front of the street. So, it was nice to see the quaint activity going around and in front of us. We could also see a little bit of the ocean too. I have been to Puerta Vallarta many times and each time we stayed somewhere different and in different areas. Some hotels that I have stayed in the past have cost a whole lot more and their room looked as similar to Villas Vallarta rooms. I have no complaints and we had a great time Villas Vallarta Canto Del Sol.

Another amazing stay at Villas Vallarta by Canto del Sol

My husband and I just returned home after a 2 week stay at Villas Vallarta June 15th- June 29th 2016 preceded by a stay of 163 days Oct. 2015 - April 2016. We have been going to this resort for many years. This is an older hotel but it is being updated constantly. We find our stay at the Villas is very comfortable and quiet. The staff and guest service are amazing and are very willing to go out of their way to make your stay a pleasurable experience. I am sure this is a huge part of why so many repeat vacationers come here year after year. Some of the rooms are dated but still very comfortable and clean thanks to the very hard working cleaning staff. Many of the rooms have been or in the process of being totally renovated. A beautiful new rooftop restaurant has just been completed for you to enjoy your breakfast. The pool area has been resurfaced along with a new bar. The location of this resort is perfect with beach access across the street via the public access. Many amenities including restaurants, shopping, liquor store, laundry service, banks, pharmacy, hair salons, massage,Mega store 3 blocks away to name a few. Thank you to all the staff for another enjoyable vacation.

Stay away from this place!! Dingy, dark and insecure hotel not suitable for families.

Stayed during a weekend getaway in Puerto Vallarta, mainly because of the attractive price and somehow “central” location. This is an old, run down hotel that feels and actually IS pretty insecure. Villas Vallarta works as part of “Canto del Sol” hotel that is located across the street. There is an open reception and very dark hallways that anybody can easily access from the street. After 6PM there’s no one in the Villas Vallarta building; security being almost inexistent and as we discovered later, there’s also no CCTV in any area of the hotel, leaving the property completely open to anybody to access from the street. It is important to mention that the surroundings of the hotel feel and look insecure. It is a place full of unoccupied commercial spaces, “massage” parlors and wine stores. Not the place you want to be with kids or at night and certainly not in a hotel with long, dark hallways, wide open to anybody to access from the street.During the last evening of our stay, we went out for dinner with some friends. The valet asked at which time do we expected to come back to the hotel, because they would need to park the car in another lot, adjacent to Canto del Sol Hotel. That evening, we got an iPhone and other effects robbed from our room. We discovered that the maid took one of our keycards (the spare one that we were not using) from inside the room that afternoon, after being called to clean the bathroom as the shower leaked and flooded the floor. Next morning, customer service reviewed the register of our room’s keycard lock and the found that someone entered the room approximately 15 minutes AFTER we left for dinner, using one of our guest’s keycards. Employees of this hotel and sister property Canto del Sol are taking advantage of the clear lack of surveillance and security of Villas Vallarta to steal the customers. It was clear for us that the maid and valet were colluded as they knew we were going out and not coming back until midnight. Guest service was almost inexistent; we found they don’t have CCTV in any public space or hallway and they never replied back our emails, nor gave us a simple apology. They seemed to be used to that kind of events happening in this property. If you are planning a vacation with family of kids, this definitely is not the place you want to be. Please do yourself a favour and book in another hotel.
