Our Opinion

A great resort. Newly renovated rooms are very spacious, and the staff will cater to your requests to ensure that you are comfortable. The majority of food served in this resort is Mexican cuisine, and it has an OK variety of alcohol on the shelf. This is a resort suited for those who want to venture away from the resort facilities and enjoy the beach and wildlife that surrounds it.

Overview

Explore the natural wonders of the Mayan Riviera from this ideally situated all-inclusive. Golf at the nearby Puerto Aventuras course or visit the natural aquarium of Xel-Ha and the ancient ruins of Tulum. Families appreciate the spacious accommodations, fun Kids' Club, kilometre-long white sandy beach and calm reef-protected waters.

Anniversary Getaway

Exceeded our expectations! Many Thanks to "Corinna Weisker" for your expertise & fine details in making our stay absolutely romantic & beautiful. We can never thank you enough & all the wonderful stay from the moment we arrived till departure. Highly recommend this place for its tranquility & beauty. The rooms are impeccable & all with sea view & privacy. The Captain at the Steak A La Carte ...made our dinner so memorable with rose petals & champagne/ strawberries. Loved the food!!! We will be making many returns. So see you soon Corinna Weisker!!W

Complete Paradise

To say this was a vacation of a lifetime is an understatement. I almost want to give the place bad reviews so that I can keep it all to myself, but I feel EVERYONE needs to experience a vacation like I just had. Yes, this resort has AMAZING views, beautiful rooms and delicious food. But whats makes this resort so amazing is the staff who work there. From check in to check out, someone is always around to help you. Someone was always around asking if we needed anything from drinks, to making sure our room was everything we wanted. We had the most amazing waitress, Marcia. She was always around to make sure we had a drink in our hand. And Wilbert, the AMAZING bartender who would make those drinks. These people are wonderful. The Buffet staff who bust their butt to make sure every table is taken care of and cleaned right away so the next family can get in enjoy their food. I would highly recommend this resort and will definitely be taking a vacation back!

Best place to stay on Akumal Bay

My friends and I have been coming to this location since 2009, when under a different name (Akumal Bay Resort), and love it as much or more. Many of the key staff are the same and they help make each stay wonderful. Food is excellent and there are several table service dining options although the buffet is really a selling point. The beach itself is the best selling point though - not many places can you walk off the beach into the water to swim, snorkel, or float and know you will see sea turtles, rays, and abundant fish if you only look. Be sure you get up early to have morning coffee or cappuccino with Wilbert (or Wilver - he has many different name tags and a fabulous sense of humor). Activity staff are fun and the resort provides activities throughout the day for the kiddos (which the kids in my group of friends really enjoyed). The resort has a beautiful spa with a cold water jacuzzi and all the usual services. They hosted two weddings during the week we were there and everyone said they enjoyed the destination weddings. I always take lots of dollar bills but also pesos and a $4-6.00 tip is usually good for a towel animal and extra TLC for the room. Make sure you have lunch or a snack at the sushi bar if you like it; the sushi chef is off one day each week but on that day there is sushi in the buffet. On-resort dive operation is fantastic but they are not allowed to do any dive training in the pools, so all that is in the ocean or a cenote nearby.

swimming with the turtles

Let me start by saying we came here about six years ago when it was called the Akumal Beach Resort. It was completely rundown but the beach was fantastic.Food was good enough to get by.Here it is 2017,property completely remodeled and not one negative review! Was here from June 3 to the 10th.Paid the extra $50.a night for the penthouse with roof top jacuzzi. Round tub that two people could not use at the same time comfortably.Wasted $350.The specialty restaurants were terrible.Expected the hibachi grill in the Japanese restaurant,no such thing.Thankfully the buffet was better than most all inclusives I have been to.Drinks were piss poor.Entertainment was non existent.Spa didn't even do pedicures. They now truck in all kinds of people to swim with the turtles that this piece of paradise is no more. The locals are scamming people to rent life jackets and hire a guide to snorkel.I wish it stayed the run down Akuma; beach resort, back then the beach made up for it.Sadly I will no longer go to what was once truly paradise.(I am not being overly critical,I waited awhile to write this)Spend your money on another resort,or be disappointed.
