Our Opinion

The Allegro Playacar offers a close proximity to the town of Playa del Carmen. Guests can easily stroll into town and enjoy the shops, restaurants and bars. Lots of repeat clientele continue to visit this 4 star resort. The food and rooms are nice but nothing special. Strong tides have caused some beach erosion in front of the hotel. If the price is right this hotel is good for couples and singles looking to be close to Playa del Carmen.

4 Families in Playacar

Allego Playacar was a nice resort in a convenient location. The size of the resort was ideal for families with kids since it was big enough to have enough entertainment, restaurants and facilities to keep you happy, but not too big to make you tired going from place to place. It's location in Playacar was good since there was a close shopping plaza a short walk away and even Playa Del Carmen city was a walk-able distance (but it does take around 20 minutes). One area we had some issues with was the room on the top floor. During heavy rains (which was regular) some water/rain leaked from the roof into the room. The staff quickly mopped and cleaned the floor but they need to reseal the roof. Food was ok but didn't have enough variety on some days. Staff was friendly and there was enough entertainment to avoid being bored. First Club had complementary WIFI (if you had membership) but WIFI outside had a fee. We stayed at Xcaret last time and it was a much bigger resort further south and costs more. Allegro Playacar has good value for your money.

Multiple times visiting allegro playa car

Love the first club staff and entire resort staff. Make you enjoy stay and takes care of you! Rooms are clean and resort is beautiful. Resort doesn't feel to big or fancy. Great place for family or just place to go relax. Recommend this resort to anyone had a great time and so will you

So far... ehhhh....

We are on day 3 and so far, idk? We've asked for foam matress pads for 2 days now and this is what we've come back to after room service was here. They had no problem taking the tip that was left for them but the beds weren't even made. We tried to make a reservation for the AI tepanyaki restaurant but we're told that our group was to large to accommodate. We have 4 children. A family of six. More family arrives tomorrow. This is our 10th time in the Yucatan and I can assure anyone that we have never had a poorer experience at a resort. We still have 10 days here. Hopefully the service improves and I can retract all this garbage. Such a beautiful place to be. I hate giving this sort of review. :(

Paradise Can Be Yours

Stayed June 6-10 ($133 a night ) Allegro Playacar is a small hotel with a big hotel feel. I booked three rooms for my family. All three rooms (2704, 2303, 1203) had a different feels and all in different locations on the resort. I think all come with a hammock in the front patio. Great for those nights you just want to kick it and have a drink from your mini bar. Your longest walk to the beach will be under a 100 yards from end to end. Breakfast and dinners are in the front of the hotel. Breakfast has everything you need (eggs, omelettes, pancakes, beans, sweet breads, cereals and Mexican dishes). Dinners have theme nights and they are good. If you book a seat down dinner, see what the theme is for the buffet dinner that night. Just in case you done like you food at the seat down dinner. That way you can go to the buffet after. Lunch is next to the pool bar. They have burgers, hot dogs, pizza, sandwiches and specialty dishes (Mexican). The had a BBQ day next tot he pool, the meats and chicken was great and it was nice to get a different feel from the resort.Helpful Tips: I do tip a dollar here and there. A few bucks got me my rooms at 12 instead of 3. I did see some people bring their own mugs for their drinks. Some were to keep their drinks cold and others, not to have to go to bar offend (32oz mugs).Staff: EVERY STAFF MEMBER at the resort works hard to make you happy. So I can't just name a few. The pool bar can get really busy at lunch time. Those bartenders work are and are always smiling. If you like your drinks strong, just ask. If you like them tasty, ask. They go out of their way to see you get what you want. The entertainment staff was one of the best. They change things up so you don't see the same stuff everyday. My son had a blast (12yrs) with the crazy games and the live singers. I loved the beach volley ball. I only wish they would of had beach soccer. Servers are always smiling in that hot sun when brings you drinks to the beach or pool sided. The sport bar is a great place to kick it and meet new people. They serve some great Scooby-Doo's Snacks Shots. The entertainment bar serves some great Red Eyes (micheladas).Resort: Are rooms were very clean and clean daily. They grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The grounds are very safe, even when walking around at 1 am star gazing. The beach was soft white sand. Lot's of place to seat and get lot of sun. The palm tree are small. you will have to move offend to get shade. Your 1 km from Playa Del Carmen downtown area or a $6-5 taxis ride. You can also find a small mini mall about a 3 min walk from the resort. You can also find a few small Mayan ruins about a five minute walk from the resort. Great to show the kids. All very safe. My Cons: No Non-motored water sports. Pool closes to early. No food from 11 am to 12 pm(Noon). Need more shade at the beach (umbrellas would work). Management when any construction is going to being done, please let your member know the day before. No one wants to hear banging in the morning. We should have been giving the option to move at the very lease or we could of schedule that day as our early day. You need to remember we are your guess. It's our fees that keep you in business. (Room 1204 thank God it was the Teens room)This was my seven visit to the area. I like to visit different hotel every visit.Hotels this visited this trip: Allegro Playacar June 6-10, 2017 and Barcelo Maya Palace June 10-14, 2017
