This location superseded all of my expectations. the last time I was in cancun was in 1999 and stayed at a nameless large, all-inclusive resort that had rooms for about 1500+ people. It was loud, boisterous, and filled with too many noises, people, and activities. It was not to my liking then, so when my husband (who had never been to Cancun or Mexico for that matter) wanted to go, I braced myself for managing his disappointment. We are young at heart, but discerning and way over any silly disco or beer guzzling contests that might have been popular back in the late 90's at some of the other larger resorts. But to each his own. We just knew that wasn't for us. So he happily went for the all-inclusive experience at The Blue Diamond resort, and I secretly prepared to be spending a lot of time avoiding all of the distractions. We used Costco Travel (a marvelous, problem free service, and definitely will use them again), and from start to end our vacation at Blue Diamond was truly exceptional. It was quiet, serene, and had other lovely vacationing couples who were like minded in their quest for tranquility and romance as we were. Blue Diamond was surprising and beyond parallel when it came to friendly staff, exquisite cuisine, never ending tipples, and the feeling that we had gotten away from it all. We LOVED every moment of it - from the animal visitors from the nearby mangroves (who were treated with respect by the staff), the ocean breeze and daybeds and hammocks with swaying palm trees and powdery, almost white sand, to the options to stay by the pool under umbrellas on the daybeds - which were always checked on by staff to see if we could possibly need anything. A great boutique hotel, and we loved that there was nighttime entertainment, but not every night. It was lovely to see, but lovely to have quiet meals on other days as well. A truly memorable experience. The only thing I could possibly suggest to address, would be the tendency by vacationers from other countries to try to reserve daybeds in the hopes that they might use them... whether they actually do or not. Which keeps those already by the pool from using them. Sometimes for hours. Not staff fault at all, but there might be a way to address that with those trying to reserve them, by saying there is a time limit on how long they can try to reserve them, or staying within the vicinity of the beds. Just a thought. Other than that - we have no complaints at all and cannot wait to come visit again! Keep the bubbles chilled until we get there!
I had an outstanding stay at this resort. The rooms were quite and a lot of space. you can have a very nice walk from your room to the different restaurant and facilities or use a bicycle also the hotel provide free transportation inside the resort to any of their facilities if you wish so. Very nice staff, the food was excellent. I had a great time.
My girlfriend and I were looking for a place to celebrate her birthday and wanted to get away from our busy lives in Los Angeles. We came across Blue Diamond resort began to search the internet for pricing. After reviewing 4-5 travel websites, we ended up going with Costco Travel, which added a lobster dinner, a 25 minute massage and a round of golf for both of us. We love to travel and have stayed at many different resorts around the world. Our experience at Blue Diamond was perfect. Here are the top things that we loved about this resort. 1. The Staff The is amazing. Friendly. Fun. Professional. After any requests, they would always say “my pleasure” and place their hand on their heart. I thought it was nice the first couple of times, but they do it after almost every request you make. It just made the trip that much better knowing they were always looking out for our best interests, which is a wonderful feeling. 2. Boutique Feel The hotel layout is different from most mega resorts. Instead of huge towers surrounding a giant pool. The rooms and pools are quietly nestled along a path about a mile long that leads to the beach. There are golf carts going back and forth all the time that will give you a ride and also bikes you can request from the concierge. The upside is how much room you have. We didn’t feel crammed into a building with 500 other guests. We had our space and quiet. 3. Quiet Speaking of quiet. This was the first time we had ever stayed at an adults only resort. We have not slept that good in a long time. Absolutely no noises while we slept. No loud guests. No crying in the distance. It was just peace and quiet… and it was perfect. 4. The Food The resort has 2.5 restaurants. One regular one by the beach, a higher end restaurant that has a dress code and a sort of snack bar near the beach as well. At first we thought this would be slim compared to the other resorts with 5+ restaurants on their property, but they did not disappoint and the food was amazing. We were there for five days and almost never ordered the same thing from the menu. The food is impeccable and delicious. 5. The Wifi This one really surprised us. We both work a lot online and needed to check in from time to time. The wifi is strong throughout the entire property which made working from laptops or phones easy when in the rooms, restaurants, pools or beaches. 6. The Rooms The rooms are large, clean and spacious. We stayed in a room overlooking the middle cenote (there are three). A cenote is a large pool of water. When we went online and saw pictures, our first through was “that place looks like a mosquito heaven”. We packed mosquitos repellant, but never used a drop. The air was clear and we had few encounters with bugs on insects. A pleasant surprise. 7. The Beach / Pool The beach and pool are both clean and have modern layouts. Cabanas are available at both along with lounge chairs. The bars have every type of drink you could want and the waiters will bring them to you. The ocean water is warm and pleasant and they have people clean the beach daily so its very visually appealing. 8. The TemescalIf you can, try to attend a temescal while you are there. Its a cleansing ceremony where you get into an igloo looking room that is heated like a sauna. When they close the door it gets almost pitch black and you work through some meditations and relaxations. Several people said it was difficult for them to be in the black, but we loved that it helped bring is back to earth from our busy lifestyles. 9. The SpaThe Spa is separated into two areas (mens/womens) around a small pool and hot tub. In each area there is an indoor pool, showers, ice, sauna, steam room, lockers, etc. Its very nice. We had a couples massage in a separate building that was quiet and peaceful. Time always goes by fastest when you’re having a massage and we would have make it longer if we had though ahead. Very enjoyable. 10. Secret Tip It’s always good to have friends in the right places. When you get there, make sure to ask for and find a beautiful woman named Aracely. She works in the Marketing department and is very friendly and very funny. If you ask nicely, she can often get you VIP benefits at the SPA along with special pricing on future visits. Just tell her that Brian & Maricia sent you. She also gave us a tour of the beach front houses, which is where we will stay when we come back next time. Hope this review helps. We loved the resort and know you will too. Brian & Maricia
My wife and I just finished our honeymoon at the Blue Diamond Resort in Riviera Maya. It was an amazing vacation. The beach was gorgeous, the pool was amazing, the food was great and the service was spectacular. Everybody was amazing to us but my wife and I would like to say that bartender Antonio and server Luis are two people who went above and beyond to make sure our stay was absolutely amazing. This is a place that my wife and I would come back in the future. Ironically we had friends from Ohio that where at the secrets Capri right next door so we got to hang out there too. Blue Diamond is a lot better than secrets Capri from what I was able to tell.
Outstanding resort. Merits its 5 star rating. Beach area is beautiful. Food consistently excellent - huge portions ! Staff in the Aguamarina and Ceviche restaurants efficient and attentive, always keen to make you feel welcome and happy. Special mention to Dago, both Pedros but especially the dark haired one, Moisés, José David, Antonio, Muriel and Gabriel. Staff in the golf carts also do a great job with a smile on their face. Animals in the resort are very interesting. We saw a monkey, a few coatis, iguanas, squirrels and some lovely birds. Missed seeing the crocodiles but we did not go to the Ambar restaurant where apparently they can be seen in the lagoon from the terrace. We had a couple of chance meetings with Geert Debruyne, the hotel. director and his colleague, Gabriella, both very charming, approachable, friendly and sensitive to our holiday experience. We took an organised trip to Chichen Itza which was a fantastic day out and an excellent and informative tour. Very few negatives. I would warn against the hard-sell strategies of those trying to "coax" you into a Blue Diamond membership. Two Mexicans, Arturo and Araceli and a South Korean, Joaeck. They will casually sit beside you at your table and politely engage in conversation. Two hours later, they are still insistent. Good at doing the sums which over the years will save you money. Not so quick at pointing out how a considerable upfront payment and sizeable monthly instalments over 6 years are truly going to be beneficial. Almost spoiled our last full day. We were too polite and so partly to blame. Ask for prices first. Will save you time and you can work on your tan !If you're not aged between 18 and 30, the town of Playa del Carmen is probably not for you. Just a personal opinion !We booked with Thomson/TUI whose "hands-off" approach left us very disappointed. They would not have known had we been eaten by the aforementioned crocs 😊All in all we had a great time at the Blue Diamond and would thoroughly recommend it !
