Our Opinion

Dreams Puerto Aventuras is a smaller resort, but keeps up with excellent service and amenities that one would expect from a Dreams Resort. This resort is popular with families and couples alike, however singles might prefer a larger hotel with wider range of guests. Definitely recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a quality resort. If you're into swimming with Dolphins, there is a dolphin encounter on site as well as the nearby Dolphin Discovery located in Puerto Aventuras.

Don't waste your money.

This week long vacation could have been better. Started off with being rushed to our room, decent room with only passable air conditioning and water leaking at the door. Maid service was pretty sketchy, usually no towels and only turn down service for one night of our 7 night stay. The entertainment team was amazing, but for the most part finding someone friendly was pretty hit and miss. The buffet was closed for renovations, a fact that we were not aware of until we went there to eat. This put a lot of pressure on the other restaurants and long waits for food became the norm for the week, often settling for something we didn't really want just because we were hungry. The Oceana actually told us one night they had a table in 5 minutes, we waited 10, then they said there wasn't anything for 45 minutes. I was hearing similar stories from other guests, and worse. Will never visit this resort again. Your hard earned money is best spent on somewhere else.

Kids Club is Amazing

We have been here twice now and the girls don't just 'watch' your kids. They take such an interest in them and have planned activities for them on the hour. My girls begged to go to the club everyday of our trip. Thanks Martha, Gabriella, Lili and Judit!

Destination wedding

After hours of searching for the perfect place to get married, we finally decided on Dreams Puerto Aventuras! It's a small resort in comparison to some I've been to...but, it was not lacking! The resort offers an adult only pool and restaurant, has a kids club, small but beautiful beach, a spa, lots of food and drink choices, and clean and friendly service! Claudia was our wedding coordinator. She was absolutely amazing! She was very quick to reply to my emails and help with planning (very helpful in planning a destination wedding). The day could not have been more perfect! We go married at the gazebo, which jets out into the ocean, and the setting was absolutely stunning. The ceremony was followed by a private cocktail hour and a 3-hour reception with dinner and dancing on the beach. Our 35 guests ALL loved the resort and the staff was always helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend this Dreams resort! 2 thumbs up!

Luck of the draw.

We were at this resort from April 23 to April 30 for my cousins wedding. We're a family of 3 with a 4 year old daughter. The resort has a lot of positives. The layout is great, having the beach so close to the pool meant that our group could split up between the 2 locations and still be close enough to make plans and get together for meals/activities. The restaurants were actually quite decent. While i've hated having to make reservations at other resorts for meals days before hand I was concerned that without it we'd have long waits for meals at busy times. I was thrilled to see it wasn't the case, we never waited long to sit and service was always good at all the restaurants. The age of the resort shows itself and the building, rooms and pool were a disappointment. Pool: We spent most of our time at the family pool. Closest to the resort there isn't enough room most of the time to walk along the side of the pool because of the pool chairs. There is a small walkway but is blocked easily. Inside the pool the drains at the bottom are raised up, while kids feet aren't deep enough to impact them adults in the pool with their kids were constantly stubbing their toes. The service at the pool bar was terrible. I'm a decent tipper and despite that it was generally much quicker to get service from the servers walking around the pool, despite them having to take multiple orders, go to the bar to get the drinks and walk them back. Rooms:The building as I said is older. I think thats the largest factor in the next part of my review. We had 10 rooms in our group and more than half of them were great! Our room(s) were disappointing to say the least. We had requested a room on the ground floor bordering the family pool so we would have a meeting spot through the day. When we arrived we were told it wasn't available (I get that, it happens and requests aren't ever guaranteed in a class) but one would be opening the next day, with a king sized bed facing the family pool. So if I left my stuff packed, someone would come and get it in the morning and we could move into the new room at 3pm the next day. We left everything packed and enjoyed the first day. The next day after waiting around most of the morning I went to the lobby at noon to see when people were coming to get our stuff and if our new room was ready. They had no record of the request to change rooms. They were accommodating though and found us a room with 2 queens bordering the family pool. Our new room had no working air conditioning and a bug nest on the patio. We reported both to maintenance and were told it would be dealt with. Again we waited around without anyone coming through. Late in the day I managed to find a maint. worker who came and dealt with the bug nest. Someone came and looked a the AC and then left. Nothing else was said. The next day I went to the lobby to mention it again, they seemed surprised it still wasn't working they actually sent someone right away who came in and tried to fix it, with no luck. The bug nest was back so I pointed it out again and they knocked it down again. I'll stop commenting on the bug nest as it just became a part of the daily routine, I would ask a few times in the morning and finally someone would come and remove it and it would be back before we got up in the morning. The air conditioning was looked at regularly until day 4. I went back to the lobby to ask for an update and they told me they were sending someone again. I went for dinner, and when we got back to the room there was no change. I went back to the lobby where I was told they couldn't fix it but they would move us to another room but they would probably get the part they needed in the morning. Unfortunately the other 2 rooms we "qualified for" were away from the family pool and with the part hopefully arriving the next day we decided to tough it out. The next day, they arrived early, put in the new part and cold air started flowing. We went to the pool and returned to a room with no power. 20 minutes later a maintenance worker arrived flicked some switches in the electrical room next door and power came on for 5 minutes before it went out again with several loud pops. I had to run after him in the hall to get him to come back. The cold air stopped working and that we had no more fight left in us. We just toughed it out the last couple of days. Our daily housekeeping was good but at random times. Sometimes early sometimes very late. Turn down service/fresh towels was rare and totally random for us. The mini fridge is great, decent selection, always fresh water and the people who refilled it were very accomodating when we asked for extras of one thing or less of another.WiFi: I work a fair bit while on holidays and am traditionally very frustrated with resort wifi. The wifi here was excellent, speeds were good and it covered the whole resort, pools and most of the beach. Every once in awhile it would drop for 10 seconds or so but it was rare. The ground floor (which is actually below the lobby) is a dungeon. It's the hallways that workers use for moving around room service and equipment and furniture, more than once we narrowly averted disaster coming around a corner to find a cart full of chairs motoring down the hallway. With all of that said, more than half of our traveling group had great rooms. AC worked and were quite clean and well laid out. Rooms on the 6 and 7th floor are amazing, with private lounges at the end of the hall and fruit/champagne bars near the elevator. All in all the resort was okay. I won't go back, I won't take the chance of getting another junk room, but others in our party had better takeaways. You can do a lot worse than this resort but for the price you can find much better peace of mind and confidence in what you are buying elsewhere.
