Our Opinion

A quiet and romantic setting that is ideal for couples looking for great service, excellent food and top-notch facilities all wrapped up in a relaxing setting. The Jacuzzi junior suites are excellent, but if you want to go all out, upgrade to the Oceanfront suites or the Swim-up suites with pool right off your terrace. With great service and a gourmet a la carte dining experience that is hard to match, the El Dorado Seaside Suites is highly recommended for couples.

Overview

Fully upgraded, the El Dorado Seaside Suites is now an upscale all-inclusive boutique resort for adults only. Unsafe paradise

Artful landscaping, abundant coconut trees, spacious rooms and lovely beach. However this property is operating without consideration of safety for guests on the water. My husband went out for a kayak ride on a day that was supposed to be safe. The winds suddenly changed and we discovered the property has no rescue boat for emergencies. The winds are powerful enough to topple boats, and there was no communication system back to the shoreline. The rescue staff had trouble bringing in the boats because of the winds and waves. This issue is preventable with proper emergency procedures, as other resorts have boats to help people when the climate suddenly changes. At this property the 'rescue staff' kayaked to help without themselves wearing life jackets. This property's procedure is to borrow the boat of a nearby resort! In this emergency they did not call the resort for backup. People were in distress for more than an hour on a day that was windy enough to topple branches of the coconut trees onto the property's dining patios. There were elderly people in kayaks who were not strong enough to get back to the shore. We learned there have been three incidents in three years of this type. Fortunately nobody drowned but if they do not invest in safety a fatality is inevitable given these circumstances.Although the property has a coloured flag system (indicating if the water is safe for kayaking or snorkelling) even after this incident with 10 kayaks in trouble for more than an hour the flag did not change to indicate unsafe conditions. The management makes a determination about safety daily at 9 am but if the weather changes (a predictable pattern) the management does not change the flag colour. Hence this rating for the review .The low rating is because of the safety issue. Other guests discovered someone had entered their room with key access between 7 pm and 11 pm and launched an investigation. The staff said it was a room service error. When we complained the manager offered us a bottle of wine. We told him we complained with only one goal for other customers: safety! This is a lost opportunity for the property because otherwise the service is good, the staff work hard, and the weather is lovely. We will not return.

Like All El Dorado, very nice...

Stayed at the Seaside (new part) which was very clean and nice. All the restaurants were fabulous, great selections of food and presentation very good, our favorite was the Italian Restaurant. We had a swim out room but didn't use it too much because it is cold, we had building 6 but i think building 7 water might be warmer, getting sun most of the day. Building 6 gets sun till about noon. Beach is nice but the sea has many rocks and you definitely need water shoes to go in swimming. Water is not too deep. That being said they are removing rocks from the swimming area at the Seaside. We are exotic members so we get all the additional perks which never fail to be spot on. Our butlers were top notch as were other staff.

Outstanding for vegetarian travelers

My husband and I stayed here for 7 nights from 1/28 thru 2/4. This was our first visit to Mexico, Riviera Maya and our first all-inclusive experience. We were celebrating special birthdays this year for both of us. We stayed at Seaside Suites but we had full use of Sensimar's facilities. We met our concierge, who informed us that each of the restaurants (other than the buffets) had a separate vegetarian menu! We were thrilled beyond belief, as usually we have one entree or side dishes to choose from. Both resorts were immaculate. Every restaurant inquired about food allergies and offered hand sanitizers when meeting with the hostess. Our room was beautiful. The entertainment each evening was high class, ranging from opera singers to beach fire dancers, to a comedian and magician. Our building (seven) and floor (four) had it's own club, open every evening with its own entertainment, which was really fun.We snorkeled at the beach at Sensomar and enjoyed the beach butlers at both Seaside Suites and Sensomar. We walked between the reception building, Seaside Suites and Sensomar; however, a golf cart shuttle is continuously moving between the three buildings.Everyone is so friendly; we must have said "Hola!" a hundred times a day (and when we returned, at our offices). Our vacation glow lasted a long time. I would do this vacation again in a heartbeat.

Amazing All-Inclusive Resort in Mexico

We arrived at the El Dorado Seaside Suites around 10:30 p.m. Saturday night and we were kindly greeted by Javier, the bellman who walked us to reception and took care of bags and got us each a beer to have during check-in. Check-in went smoothly and we were given suite 6209 in Building 6. Javier was wonderful and took us directly to our room and carried all of our luggage. We saw him throughout our stay, and he waved to us, remembering both of our names and always offered us a ride if we had decided to walk between resorts for some exercise to burn off some of the delicious food. The room was amazing and was just as advertised on the resort website - clean and modern, large bathroom with separate toilet and rainfall shower, nice comfortable king size bed, a round couch, a table and chairs, flat screen TV and plenty of storage for clothes etc. The balcony and attached infinity pool (runs the length of each floor) is amazing the views of the ocean were absolutely spectacular. We were worried being on the second floor the trees may obstruct the view (see attached photo). Jose was our housekeeper for the week and we had a chance to meet him on our last day - he was friendly and greeted us with a big smile and introduced himself. Our room was spotless the entire vacation and we never once had to ask for anything additional throughout our stay as Jose always ensured everything was taken care of for us, without ever having to ask. The next day we order breakfast to the room using 24hr room service and it arrived exactly 30 minutes after ordering as promised on the phone (we ordered room service for breakfast every day after that). The food was fantastic and the server set our table and uncovered each of the dishes ensuring everything was delivered and too our satisfaction. We meet our personal concierge Reyna on the main floor of our building and she helped us make reservations at the Asian and Gourmet Pub restaurants for Tues and Thurs of our week. She also helped us arrange our moonlight beach dinner for Monday evening and was extremely helpful in explaining the resort and all of it's facilities including the Sensimar side (you can visit both hotels / restaurants). She also introduced us to the Lamos travel agent that helped us schedule a day with the dolphins (Wed). After breakfast in our room, we headed down to the main pool area and got some towels and loungers to settle for the day. We were kindly greeted by Lucy, the pool-side server (she served us each day with kind smile) and Jose, pool-side entertainment staff, who invited us to participate in the many activities scheduled throughout the week (my personal favourite was the coconut painting). We also painted pottery on the Sensimar side, and Esmeralda was great at providing tips and explaining the entire process - it was a lot of fun (ensure you dedicate time to this as we spent 4 hrs and enjoyed every moment - you pick up the piece the next day). We had dinner at the following restaurants each night and received both exceptional service and meals: Sunday evening - Le Carreta - great server - Freddy - fantastic food (we liked it so much we went back on Friday)Monday evening - Moonlight dinner in the sky cabanas - Surf and Turf - Jenaro was a very attentive server, ensuring we had everything we needed without bothering us throughout the meal. Tuesday night - Klay Talay - server was Renan, great service and our second favourite restaurant - food was deliciousWednesday night - Mia Casa (Sensimar side), server Cleyber was attentive and provided great suggestions for starters/appetizers. Food was above average, but not our favourite of all the restaurants. Thurs - Gourmet Pub - sort of spanish tapas fusion - food was delicious and our server Edgar explained the menu and recommended several dishes we could share and enjoy as a couple. Friday - Mexican again - Freddy was a server and we loved the food and service again. Saturday - ate at the Sandwicherie - we both had different gourmet burgers - they were awesome. We ate lunch at the Driftwood Sun-Fri, the food was average, but the service remained exceptional. After eating at the Sandwicherie on our last day, I regret not eating at some of the other restaurants (as the food at the Driftwood was our least favourite food of all the restaurants we tried - yes there are 10 of them). Check-out was as seamless as check-in and Javier ensured are bags were ready to go when our shuttle back to the airport arrived. This resort is a fantastic place for a couple to reconnect and enjoyed some romantic and fun times together. I would highly recommend it !!! (I was a bit skeptical at first since its quite a bit further from the airport ~ 1hr 20 min then previous resorts we've stayed at in the past - but well worth the trip).

Girls trip!

My 2 best friends from high school and I visited El Dorado Seaside Suites in January. We had so much fun! We booked through Dream Makers Vacation Services and they helped pick the perfect resort for us. Our main goals were to have good drinks, get a tan, and make lots of fun memories and we definitely accomplished that. The absolute best part of this resort is the swim up bar. Orlando the bartender was the BEST. He was quick on service, talked with us, and even tried to help us improve our Spanish. One day I spent the entire day at the bar even though I planned to lay out in the sun just because the conversation with the bartenders and the people at the swimup bar was so fun. The drinks were great too although I stuck mostly to my banana daiquiris. The food was delicious as well. At El Dorado, we ate at the buffet for breakfast every morning and it had a great variety. I recommend the croissant bar where you can put a variety of different toppings on them (I became addicted to the Nutella croissants). They also had Mexican hot chocolate which was a great. The fresh squeezed orange juice was another favorite. One day for lunch we ate at the Caribbean restaurant which was great - awesome brussel sprouts and chicken. We also ordered room service for one lunch which came quickly. Another lunch we ventured over to Sensimar and had the beach BBQ which had great variety. For dinner, we really enjoyed the Italian restaurant Mia Casa. It was nice to get a little more dressed up. We also went to the buffet for one dinner, and just like for breakfast, there was a really good variety of foods. The only "complaints" I have which aren't even really complaints would be that there is really only one place to go after dinner for drinks which was the 4th floor bar - it was fun but we didn't want to do it every night. If you wanted more variety you had to head over to Sensimar which isn't a huge deal except for the fact that the golf carts could take forever to come. Depending on the day, we were super tired and just didn't feel like walking. It wasn't a huge deal though. The other issue was how cold the infinity pool was just because of the sun being behind it, but as I said, the swimup pool bar was so fun we didn't want to be in our rooms anyway.Overall, I had an amazing trip and would definitely stay here again!! From walking in and being handed a drink and smelling the amazing lobby scent to leaving and workers waving goodbye to us, we felt that we were always given top notch service.
