Our Opinion

A quiet and romantic setting that is ideal for couples looking for great service, excellent food and top-notch facilities all wrapped up in a relaxing setting. The Jacuzzi junior suites are excellent, but if you want to go all out, upgrade to the Oceanfront suites or the Swim-up suites with pool right off your terrace. With great service and a gourmet a la carte dining experience that is hard to match, the El Dorado Seaside Suites is highly recommended for couples.

Overview

Fully upgraded, the El Dorado Seaside Suites is now an upscale all-inclusive boutique resort for adults only. This secluded hotel is set on a two-kilometre beachfront, facing a spectacular coral reef and offers luxurious services and creative cuisine. More low-key than many other all-inclusive resorts, it's perfect for a quiet get-away-from-it-all holiday.

El Dorado Seaside Suites

I would rate our vacation satisfaction to be greater than the sum of its parts! There are a fair number of little things one could nit-pick but the overall vacation can only be called "awesome"! The staff is truly first rate in every respect. Everyone from the gardeners to the serving staff to the concierges were always smiling, acknowledging and asking what they could do to make your stay more enjoyable. The view from our Seaside Suites room (where all rooms face the ocean) was exactly what we hoped for. The room was probably the best we've ever stayed in. The only issue was the very rocky beach in front of this part of the resort. The rocky beach was set aside once we found the classic beach setting on the Sensimar side of the resort. The restaurants were a bit of a mix with the reservation eateries (KLAY TALAY-Asian & GOURMET PUB) being 5+ Star; as well as MIA CASA - Italian, a non-reservation restaurant being 5+ Star. The buffets like SEASIDE MARKET were very poor. All-in-all if you stick to the top three restaurants and enjoy your breakfasts on the beach at SANDWICHERIE and BEACH BARBEQUE you'll end up with a top rated stay in the food area of things. We will definitely consider a return to this resort! Hola!!!!

High Quality and Beautiful with a Few Kinks to Iron out

El Dorado Seaside Suites is certainly the nicest resort we’ve stayed at, and we’ve stayed at quite a few. However, even though there are many high-end or five-star touches, a couple of things were disappointing, therefore the lower rating. The Good to Excellent- The staff was consistently friendly, cheery and helpful. Not an easy task, considering how many people work at this resort and the drunken behavior of some guests.- Quality of food was very good, especially if you enjoy fresh ingredients, including fruits, vegetables and salads. Many foods are suitable for vegetarians like us. - Alcoholic drinks were top-shelf, well-made cocktails- We were upgraded to a swim-up suite in building 7 and really enjoyed this perk of being able to swim in a large pool and having sun until 4 pm. However, building 6 looses the sun much earlier in the day.- Sheer variety of restaurants and bars was amazing and kept things interesting, even for a week.- Personal concierge service to answer questions and get help is a nice touch.- The room/suite is hands-down the nicest space we’ve ever stayed in: spacious, generous beds, couch, a chaise on the patio and a huge bathroom. - Materials are clearly of higher quality than most AI hotels, including towels, toiletries, glassware, silverware, etc.- A-la-carte restaurants are well-appointed, offered nice food and excellent service.- We appreciated the conservation approach of the hotel. Everything is either reused – no plastic cups or paper napkins – or recycled (water bottles). The Not so Good- Erosion is clearly an issue. If you’re a beach lover who enjoys walking on sandy shores and splashing in the waves, this resort is not for you. As stated in other reviews, with the exception of a palm-studded area with beds and loungers, Seaside Suites has no decent beach. The Sensimar side is a bit better, but unsightly concrete fortifications designed to break waves is unattractive. You can walk south from here along the coast. This side of the resort is also much busier and louder, requiring you to get up very early to get a chair/bed.- We would've like to see one document that listed all the bars/restaurants and showed one map. The colored map we received of the El Dorado side was so tiny that we had trouble reading it. Then we had to ask for another map of the Sensimar side later. With that many places to eat/drink, it's confusing. - A breakdown in communication: The resort offers a special treat for anniversaries and we brought our marriage certificate which showed our anniversary date during the week of attendance. We were told at check-in that a special surprise would await us. Our day came and went. No surprise. Nothing. We finally went to inquire and learned that it had been forgotten. We were told we could now expect a breakfast in our room and candlelight dinner on our last day. Since we don’t eat eggs, we requested a plate of fruit instead along with the other courses. What arrived were two small platters of fruit, no mimosas, no other courses and our tea in a thermos used for coffee tasted like…well, coffee. We decided to cancel the dinner which could only take place at 9 pm. For one, we didn’t want to be disappointed again. Secondly, eating that late and having to get up at 6 am to leave just didn’t work. If you go please make sure you tip staff regularly.

Not as presented

Far from impressed. The resort is lovely but certainly not 5 star. The rooms are spacious, clean, very comfortable decor. We did not get 2 beds as requested and guaranteed by our travel person. We explained we were friends not a couple and wanted 2 beds when we booked. Really had to push to get moved - 2 beds are in very short supply as once we were there we were told it is a couples resort. We did have an ocean view and it was fantastic. The rooms have no obsorbant surfaces so you could here noise from above, beside and outside - people walking in the room above, flushing the toilets, talking muffled but still talking. Oh and even better they have built the hotel on a curve, all rooms facing the ocean and pool and the shape acts like an echo chamber for every laugh, joke, and as the drinking increased so did the noise including swearing, bad jokes and just people having fun. If wanting quiet and relaxation not possible. There is a night club in the middle of the curve on the 4th floor whose music and fun reverberates through the rooms even if you don't want to hear well after midnight. The Beach - very big disappointment. On the new EL DORADO (new side) the beach is not user friendly it is very course and you cannot go into the water unless you have really good water shoes. It is sharp, rough, unfriendly and narrow. If you do have water shoes and decide to walk out you can walk a long time and the water won't go above your knees, the waves are rough and you can't swim. Soooooo we went to the other side of the resort The Sensimar - and I do say the other side because in the middle is a nudest beach - where they have someone standing on guard so you can't walk the water front to get to the nicer beach front. Silly plan - why not put the nudest beach at one end othe the other makes no sense to have it in the middle. The Sensimar beach - is much nicer, sand is softer and you can walk forever but still won't find a spot higher than your waist. The actual space is very narrow for the size of the resort - finding a spot is near impossible. We were on vacation and if we did not get up by 6 am and go take claim to one of the beds or chairs we would have been wondering like so many others. Really did not plan to get up by 6 am on vacation but we had to or everything would have been worse. The Food - the worst. Everything was the same - no matter how many restaurants they claim - it is the same food every where. And if your hope to get a good feed of fish forget it they have NO IDEA how to cook fish - it was like eating over cooked show leather - even if sent back and asking for a redo. The only good meal was breakfast. The mini bar had pop and beer - that is it! Every other inclusive I have been to atleast has some options. The staff were excellent. Every service person was pleasant and would do anything they could to assist - unfortunately the tools they have to work with really do not support their desire to make your vaction a great time. This was by far the most disappointing holiday ever......we did say when booking we had been to Dreams several years ago and it was the best we'd ever been on and we wanted something just a wonderful - next time we won't gamble we will just go back to Dreams

Good not great

I'm originally from Brazil and live in Canada. My partner and I met my mom and my stepdad for a 8 days vacation at El Dorado. A few points about the hotel: .The room was gorgeous but the toilet was smelling really bad; the view is amazing, with the swimming pool on each floor is awesome..The food is good, nothing spectacular, we tried three or four different restaurants at dinner time and the one with buffet style was the best one, at least it was the one that you could get a little bit closer to the Mexican cuisine. All the other ones aim the north american foods. I'm sorry, but I when I travel I want to experience the culture as much as I can and there's no better way to do it but eating..If you want to get a snack while enjoying the beach they only offer pretzels and a mix of chips, otherwise you have to walk to the restaurant, have a seat to grab something to eat. That fro us was the worse, one day eating chips and pretzels is fine, try 7. We missed an appetizer of fried fish or a skewer of shrimps while seating on the beach looking at the water and drinking a cold beer without having to put some closes on..They are removing the corals and rocks from the bottom of the sea in order to enable the tourist access, which is terrifying on the nature aspect but good on the human as you don't have to wear water shoes which we had and can enjoy the amazing water..The staff is extremely friendly, always smiling and making an effort to please the guests..Have a drink at the bar by the El Dorado reception it's on the upper floor from the restaurants, italian, asian and buffet, it opens at 5pm, and the bartender makes great shots and drinks! Overall is a great hotel, the Sensimar looks more fun, the bar by the beach has music and one night a DJ came to play (not sure if that happens every evening) and the seats around it makes the environment more enjoyable.

Geat Vacation

Sensimar is the El Dorado Seaside Suites.!! They built a new Hotel and entrance that is now the El Dorado, and it's state of the art beautiful. My stay was nothing short of Amazing!! I stayed right on the beach, my room was huge, with private jacuzzi and pool, breakfast area, and a garden right next to the beautiful ocean. The staff checking us in, Carlos, the Butlers,Ivan and Ray, and all the girls from waitresses, room cleaners, Concierge, drink ladies..were not only pleasant and polite, but always very helpful. And did I mention the food!! Unbelievable!!! We were there for New Years, the weather was warm, little rain, but beautiful. They threw a Huge party.!! The service started the day I made the first phone call to book. Fernando Lazcano!! Easy, and they worked with me to get exactly what I wanted. Could not have been any happier with this vacation.!!!! I will definitely return!!
