Our Opinion

A quiet and romantic setting that is ideal for couples looking for great service, excellent food and top-notch facilities all wrapped up in a relaxing setting. The Jacuzzi junior suites are excellent, but if you want to go all out, upgrade to the Oceanfront suites or the Swim-up suites with pool right off your terrace. With great service and a gourmet a la carte dining experience that is hard to match, the El Dorado Seaside Suites is highly recommended for couples.

Overview

Fully upgraded, the El Dorado Seaside Suites is now an upscale all-inclusive boutique resort for adults only. More low-key than many other all-inclusive resorts, it's perfect for a quiet get-away-from-it-all holiday.

Location: Nestled amid 280 acres on Kantenah Beach, a 75 minute drive from Cancun airport, 30 minutes to Playa del Carmen.

Beautiful botanical resort with lush gardens and awsome ocean views

This was our second visit to this resort. We stayed in the newer Sensimar section with modern rooms, ocean views and an infinity pool right outside the balcony. The gourmet inclusive is just that. The food choices are amazing. The grounds are beautiful with walking paths along gardens. I would highly recommend this resort for it's size and relative location to Tulum and Playa Del Carmen. VIP vacations did all the booking and travel work for us...Emily has always provided a great vacation experience.People at the resort who made is really special are:Sergio in the Market Place for breakfast. He new our names after our first breakfast and little special things we requested...he had them available each morning. Even Tequila and OJ!!At the pool bar: Fransisco and Alajandro were extremely friendly and got us in a great mood each day again remembering my drink and offering different dring ideas. These people made the stay just a little extra special and personal.

El Dorado Seaside Suites

I’ve just returned from this fantastic resort. For me this was Amazing, I just wanted a break away and enjoy going it alone because I know I’ll always meet people. For me this resort was perfect except one little thing ; which was the beach volleyball area , as there just wasn’t enough sand on the court area and was rather hard if anyone jumped or fell on the floor. For me being single meant that I could join in with everyone in all activities and even round the bar areas. For me there was two sides to the whole hotel grounds, there was the noisy fun areas with music and entertainment and for those that just wanted to chill out , quite bars to just sit and talk. There was plenty of sun bathing areas on the beach or by the poolside with plenty of restaurants and bars, plus room service 24h a day so if you didn’t want to venture out just ask them to bring your food or drinks to your room. I did this on quite a few occasions. I was very sad to leave as most of the staff were so welcoming and helpful, but of course as any other country they do have plenty of staff that don’t speak any other languages ( ground keepers for instance) as this is really a 24/7 job.Even my room cleaner Maria was so friendly with helping me with words in Spanish ,which I think is very important to try to communicate in the country’s native tongue, as it makes the staff feel like you are trying your part. For me the service everywhere was top notch apart from the language barrier sometimes which was my fault as much as anyone else’s, with not speaking to much Spanish but I was picking words and Frazier’s up everyday with the help of the staff. I also was helping them with speaking English which was my pleasure.

Anniversary Trip Ruined - Never Again!

Where do I start? First morning there I tripped on an unmarked step (which I've heard of several others doing as well). I went down hard. Both shins were bruised, I hurt my right ankle, and landed on the top of my left foot causing bruises on my big toe and second toe from the left and massive stiffness. To their credit, they did offer me medical services, and the lifeguard attended in my room to wrap my ankle. I didn't realize how bad my left foot was until the next morning.Immediately after the incident, instead of offering to let me rest, the concierge tried to shove their rewards program at me, saying it wasn't a timeshare when I flat out asked her if it was. We were stuck mostly to our room as there only 1 restaurant in the main building that was only open for breakfast/lunch and there was no elevator that went all of the way down to that level. A staff member at one point took pity on me and allowed me to use the staff elevator that went all the way down. Room service was underwhelming at the least. I could often hear the neighbour's tv over my own. It was like he was in my room. Most food options were a jaunt away at the Sensimar side or the main building, which was in the middle of nowhere. They do offer golf cart service, but it was hard for me to get around that much. At least the room was nice.I tried to call for the lifeguard in the afternoon after I had hurt my foot as he said he would come back and re-wrap it. My call to the concierge went to an answering service that hung up on me. I called the main desk, and they said they would send him, but he never arrived. I called back the next morning and he came to wrap my left foot. Our balcony pool had garbage floating in it that didn't get cleaned up such as a plastic bag and an umbrella until I complained over two days later. .After two days in the room, I needed to go out, so we stopped by the concierge to make reservations for a restaurant we wanted to go to. He asked how things were going, and I mentioned some of my concerns. He replied with "what can we do to get you to the presentation". His partner was on the phone with the concierge who was assigned to us, and she was worked up because we didn't show up for the presentation, which we cancelled immediately after I found out it was a timeshare (and I injured myself). I had enough at this point and spoke to the front desk, who wanted us to try and give the resort another try. She immediately sent someone to clean the pool, but the umbrella just wound up on the grass below, and the plastic bag remained on our balcony until check out. We checked out the beach but it was too rocky and smelled like rotten eggs. The main pool was lively, but there were some drunk idiots whipping their shorts down on the ledge above the pool in front of the crowd. The grounds of the hotel are filled with huge advertisements for their other resorts. Very tacky and they take away from any sense of romance. We had our Anniversary dinner on the beach and paid for the upgraded package with Champagne. Between soup and the main course a torrential downpour came and we were soaked. All we could do was just laugh at that point. The special morning after breakfast showed up and it wasn't what we ordered at all.The hotel decided to move us as I didn't think I could stay there any longer. This hotel may be adults only, but it does not seem to be geared towards couples. It's not romantic and seems very cold. The crowd seems to be more of a party crowd. Not what we were looking for at all.Karisma really needs to re-think their hard sell on their timeshares. It should not be the concierge pushing you into the timeshare. It's not fair that you have to go see the concierge for so many things, and each time you get pressured. I didn't pay good money for this vacation to be subjected to that. I would never return to this resort or another Karisma resort because of this experience. We did have a better time at the resort we were transferred to - El Dorado Maroma, but it did not make up for this, and the fact that we were hounded about the timeshare there again, when I made it clear what happened at the other resort made things worse. Was not offered the check out survey, and the one sent by email to me this morning was deactivated - not surprised. This will definitely be an Anniversary we don't forget, and not in a good way.

WOW!!!- total relaxation- 5 diamond for a reason.

to start, the trip from the airport was awesome. our driver Robert DeNova was very informative about the resort and the region. once we arrived at the resort, check in was a breeze, maybe 10 minutes, then the golf cart ride to the room. you get to the room, 7302- wow, what a room and a view. we ate ate the buffet the first night-Seaside Market- food was awesome. breakfast was at the same place also- a little walk but very enjoyable. we got a bed on the beach- only way to relax. Juan and Guadalope were on their game, always checking to make sure you were comfortable, bringing water, fruit, veggies. Caroline was the beach waitress- came by about every 15 minutes, bringing whatever you desired to drink. we ate at the Driftwood BBQ for lunch everyday, David was our waiter most days- very good conversation, most of our drinks came from the bartender there- great drinks, especially Tequilla!! there was a band on tuesday, also our anniversary- they played our wedding song for us, and we had more Tequilla !!!there were activities most days by the pool, do the coconut painting, taste the tequilla, do the wine tasting, learn how to make drinks. all the restaurants were outstanding!! there was a mexican fiesta night- wednesday go!!! the bartenders were great- even putting on a show of their own. we walked around the entire resort- just th wander and enjoy the beauty and great weather. overall- food was AWESOME!!, drinks were AWESOME !! staff was AWESOME!!! total resort AWESOME!!! we have traveled for 19 years between mexico and jamacia, at most of the resorts there was always a but{ i.e. this ws good , but} there is NO but at this resort. i did not want to leave, i want to go back now. this is the resort i will be returning to again, many times. cant wait to be back home again in Mexico at the ElDorado SeaSide!!! you will not be disappointed, if you are, you should just stay home.

Below average

This resort failed to meet expectations in every way. I only stayed in one other all-inclusive resort before, Sandals Emerald Bay, and I think they have spoiled me to what luxury is supposed to be. I want to give credit where it is due. The food in Mia Casa, the Italian restaurant, and Klay Talay, the asian restaurant, was out of this world. It truly is gourmet. Here is a few of the complaints I have:1. Room service: why don't they just give us refills of the water bottles? We didn't use any of the mini-bar drinks except for the water. We had to phone to get refills. Its the cheapest thing to fix, just get it right.2. Food at Driftwood was disgusting. They did not de-vein the shrinp in the shrimp satay. The beef in the surf and turf was slimy and gross. 3. La Caretta had poor service. They got the order wrong and then fought with us about it. They also had me waiting forever without a knife. I left to have lunch elsewhere. 4. Arrecifes had a small selection of bland food.5. The website shows tranquil scenes. What they don't show you is the load music that they play at the main pool. If you want to get away from the noise you must get up early to get a spot on the beach because everyone wants to get away from the god awful music at the pool.6. Bring you hiking boots. It is a long walk to get to the restaurants at the main lobby. They do have a shuttle if you want to wait around with large groups of people to fight for a place in the shuttle. For the money I paid, I could have done better.
