Our Opinion

A very unique 5-star hotel. The Mayakoba steps away from the conventional resort setting, situating near the forest portion of the resort grounds, rather than the beach. While it does divert from the usual resort scenery, many applaud the beautiful grounds. The resort has excellent guest services and great food. This is the perfect destination for those who are looking for a unique getaway to the Riviera Maya.

Mayakoba Resort

I like the place, and great golf course. The restaurants are really good and the nature around is fantastic. Specially the ones near the beach. Also the one at the other hotels at the complex. Easy getting to one hotel to another one inside the complex.

Very relaxing vacation, second time back with family.

Location is great, fantastic service. Kids had a blast. Food is great. Ana Martinez, Manager at the Brisas, she is amazing, very caring , spectacular service by her crew and Chef Daniel. Kids remember her from last visit. She was so welcoming, made you feel at home.. We will definitely be back for a third visit. Must do location for family trip.

Amazing location !exceptional service!!

I am writing this from my sun lounger at the hotel ....a first as I always wait till I return home to reflect before offering my review I have been so overwhelmed by the the attentive and genuine wish to serve all residents that I cannot wait till my return to thank all the staff of this incredible hotel Firstly the check in was speedy and friendly I choose an upgraded Suite with lagoon view It was huge !!!!! The daily turn up: down service was impeccable The fact that the resort is located on a natural lagoon habitat (morning sighting of Racoon /monkey/anteater) with the additional white sandy beach (fully equipped with surf boards kayak catamarans )and awesome golf course , spa , gym ,(I know this is all written up in the brochure but you can't imagine the beauty and level of service until you've been here !) is breathtaking So to the food One piece of advice TAKE THE ALL INCLUSIVE PACKAGE !!!! You'll regret it if you don't We've had fantastic service in all of the restaurants There is no pressure to leave tips here but we were so happy with the service that we wanted to and a few dollars showed our gratitude and was well appreciated The breakfast buffet is everything and more My sons favourite was the shrimp Nigiree at Al Puerto restaurant Mine was the duck taco .... mouthwatering The daily catch grill at the beach restaurant also deserves a mention Our family holiday comes to an end in a couple of days We will happily travel the 10 hours from uk To the fairmont in Mayakoba again O

Jungle Birds and Gorgeous Ocean

Mayakoba is a well known, upscale resort with neighboring properties sharing the golf course. Guests of the Fairmont, Rosewood and Banyan Tree are free to dine at these resorts or off property. We didn't leave the Fairmont except for one dinner at the Banyan Tree and were very satisfied with the variety of restaurants, service, waitstaff and views. We stayed in a Casita which was spacious, views of the jungle and exotic birds as well as some odd appearing animals- part racoon part monkey. The Fairmont maintained its usual level of high quality service, cleanliness and staff friendliness. Though not oceanfront, we easily hopped on a short tram that ran back and forth (1 mile or so) to the beach, At the beach there is a wonderful restaurant which serves grilled octopus, not to be missed!

"Mayakoba" must be Mayan for "friendly place to relax"

First, a few logistic details:* Having left the hotel a few times, for scuba and sightseeing tours, the location of the hotel worked out exceptionally well -- we were the last to be picked up and the first to be dropped off each time. There is one main road along the strip of hotels, and unless you are heading back to the airport, Mayakoba is well situated.* The Fairmont is one of several resorts (including a beautiful golf course) within the Mayakoba property. That said, once you meander through the lush roadway to arrive at Fairmont, the other hotels are both nowhere to be seen (because of the mangroves) and a short boat ride away (because of the easy water shuttle that is offered to guests.Ours was a family vacation. Just over a week, we had ample opportunity to experience the spa, beach, dining and relaxation available. As one would imagine, it's a Fairmont, so you will not be disappointed by the care taken to keep the grounds meticulous, the food incredible, and the rooms & public areas tastefully elegant. What made the vacation special? The people. While I've felt similarly at other resorts, Fairmont Mayakoba brought "comfortable hospitality" to an art form. It did not seem to matter where we were -- checking in, taking an early morning walk, or riding a shuttle to the beach -- the staff could not have been more welcoming.A few shout outs:Guillermo met us at the bell stand upon our arrival and a few times during our stay. As we were leaving for scuba, he would ask if we needed an extra towel and bottles of water, have it available in a minute, and happily collect the residuals upon our return, welcoming us back. Jesus checked us in to the hotel with a warm smile and effervescent personality. How he remembered our names days later, greeting us as we walked past the front desk & asked about our stay, and whether we needed anything, was impressive and meaningful.Julietta and Diana: two wonderful servers at the lobby bar & restaurant. Remembering not only our names and what we ordered from one visit to the next, each took a few minutes to offer suggestions and chat about Mexico. Unique cocktail offerings and a wide variety of both smaller and larger dishes made this a great place to unwind anytime of the day.Interested in learning more about the sustainability initiatives at the Fairmont and throughout the Mayakoba property, Alonso Ortiz could not have been more gracious and informative. If you visit, be sure to ask about the work they are doing -- it is amazing that Fairmont takes such pride in "partnering" with their community and invests so heavily in preserving the natural habitat that envelops the resort. You will inevitably spend time at the beach, whether you take the golf-cart-styled shuttles, walk, or ride an easily-accessible bicycle. Once you are there, be prepared for more service. There is a large contingent of friendly support staff meandering the beach -- finding you a few chairs under an umbrella, fixing fresh towels and quickly getting fresh water and a snack. And no matter how hot, service is inevitably quick and with a smile. My only regret is not remembering a few of their names; thank you, all!!Adjacent to the beach is Las Brisas restaurant, for any meal with an ocean breeze. Thank you again for the hospitality -- this time to Ana Maria Martinez. I believe she must have been a manager, as she would periodically stop by with a contagious smile and a friendly request to know how she or her team could help make our visit better. If you visit the gift shop, Estefania will be quietly supportive of your visit -- happy to answer questions or offer her assistance in searching inventory for the perfect gift, with absolutely no pressure to make a purchase or feel any obligation. I could go on and on ... including the landscapers who stopped their work in the early morning to do nothing more than smile and wish us a good morning as we walked by ... the staff could not have made our trip more enjoyable. It has been almost a month since our visit, and we are still remembering conversations with the Fairmont team and memories that they gave us. Hence the review. Thank you!!
