Our Opinion

A good resort destination in the Riviera Maya. The location of the hotel is by a beautiful beach. The variety of buffet and a la carte items are OK. There have been reports of issues concerning resolving maintenance issues of your room, with some travelers reporting great delays in addressing such matters. However, it does not take away from the overall experience of the resort.

The Calm Resort

Within the resort everything is close at hand, good restaurants, gift shops, an all day buffet. If you speak Spanish all the better but most employees at the counters spoke some English. Now the ocean is right there close bye. The water is warm and all big waves are reduced by the corrals a few hundred feet out. Bring your snorkeling gear for daily free guides at the beach or on your own. We saw fish, a sting ray, a junior sea turtle while in four feet of water. This hotel is starting to show it's age but it is well staffed and maintained. At best the food is excellent and the accommodations very good. At minimum, this is a 4 star hotel. We tipped and it was very appreciated. hope this helps.

Amazing Vacation of a Lifetime!

The Oasis staff was beyond friendly. They anticipated and attended to our every need, with a smile -and the extra mile, from restaurant to bar to pool to room! The property is just beautiful, gorgeous beaches, relaxing pools. We can't wait to go back!!

Beautiful beach and lovely grounds

Came here for a family trip, there were 7 of us. Two groups got ocean view rooms and two groups got garden/pool view. My husband and I got the room that was the farthest away from the beach but we had great nature surrounding us, and all of our rooms were very spread out. During the initial check in things were a little unorganized, we were first told to go to the front desk, then back to the desks to the right of the entrance so we were a bit lost. They tried to check us in as a group but then ended up doing everything separately by rooms, anyway it wasn't the worst thing ever but it felt like they were having a hard time staying organized. Our group varied in age from 25-55 and one person had mobility issues so they had to use a wheelchair to get around. The resort was very accommodating and moved their room to a location on the first floor so they would be able to use the ramps. One thing to note is that this resort does not have elevators so it's best to ensure a first floor room if that's something that you need. My and my husband's room was in an older part of the resort it seems, but it wasn't too bad and they did a great job cleaning it. At the end of the day we didn't go there to sit in our room. The mini fridge was stocked well, with water, pop, and beers. One thing that wasn't the best were the pillows, they were too tall and we just weren't used to them. Others in our group mentioned the same thing. The beach was beautiful, with clear water and white sand. There was a bunch of beach chairs there but you do need to get out there rather early to get the nicest spots. People from our group had ocean front rooms on the left side of the beach so we spent a good amount of time there, it's a much quieter area. When you go in the ocean there are rocks in it, and there is a bunch of corals on the left side of the beach. Towards the middle of the resort there are no rocks or coral and that's where most people spent their time in the water. You can go snorkeling there which is pretty fun because there are a lot of fish close to the shore. We also did kayaking, but you have to make sure not to get out too far as the lifeguard will chase you down (personal experience). There are a few pools to choose from, two of them have a swim up bar. There is also a very nice kid's pool with slides and things like that. There are cabanas by the pools and the secret is that you don't need to make a reservation for them (even the ones by the shallow pools that have little signs on them). We went and asked at the spa and they told us to just take one. No one comes to investigate whether you made a reservation or not. The food and drinks were decent, we weren't there long enough to try everything but there are good options. There is 1 buffet that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They have a good variety of things to choose from. If you go at a busy time you might have to wait a bit to be seated but it was never longer than 5 minutes for us. We also tried the a la carte restaurants. You need to make a reservation at 4pm in person by lining up in front of the chosen spot. Keep in mind that people tend to show up around 3:30pm and spots are limited. The Mexican restaurant was good, decent options and everyone was quite happy. The seafood one by the infinity pool was very good, everyone really liked it because they had delicious sea food options. The last one we tried was the Italian and I have to say that, unfortunately, it wasn't the best. The pizzas were the exact same ones you'd get at lunch time, pretty small with questionable crust and cheese. The chicken parmesan came with french fries and the chicken itself was fried chicken. Not very good at all to be honest. I would steer clear of "Dos Lunas" and spend more time at the seafood grill. Once for lunch we went to the lunch spot by the kid's pool which took us around 1 hour to get our food because there was only 1 waiter working there and he was having a hard time serving everybody. The sushi bar wasn't bad, some people liked it, some disliked it, I thought it was okay. The drinks were abundant and lots of fruity options and cocktails. They don't use top shelf, so you're not getting the best of the best but its better than nothing. The service is sometimes a bit slow but when you're on vacation there's no rush. Overall the servers were very good during breakfast and lunch at the buffet bringing out drinks and making sure things were okay. On a more positive note, no one in our group got sick so that's reassuring! With ocean view rooms you can rent a smart car for a trip outside of the resort, some people in our group wanted to take advantage of that but it took a long time to get paperwork sorted out. They definitely weren't in a rush to get them on their way so that took around 1 hour. The checkout process was very smooth and it took us 5 minutes to be on our way. Overall it was a good time for us because we really enjoyed the beach, sunshine, and the pools. Some people in our group were underwhelmed having been to other resorts in Mexico before. This was my first time in Mexico but I've been to all inclusive resorts in Dominican Republic and I have to say that it was slightly underwhelming in terms of food and drink options. However, I don't regret going here and if you get a good deal and want a beautiful place to go this is a decent option.

Great food....everything else, not so much!

Trying to appeal to families and romantic couples. Doing a better job at families. Should choose an audience. Not so good at couples. Worse drinks I've ever had, anywhere! Had to change rooms due to overwhelming stench of mold/mildew. Had to stand in line for half an hour EVERY DAY to get a dinner reservation and still could not have a 7pm reservation. Probably won't return.
