Our Opinion

The Grand Palladium Riviera is a good 4.5-star luxury resort. While it does offer the basic amenities of a high-end resort, there are other resorts that offer better luxuries. The buffet restaurants are far more of a superior option than the a la cartes. The rooms could use a little bit of a revamp, as there have been some reports that the bathrooms have a tendency to get a little leaky. The beach view is incredible. However, the grounds are a little rocky. This is a great resort for those who like large scale hotels. There are both shuttle and walking options in getting around the hotel. It is advised though that guests should know the layout well to avoid getting lost.

5th time

This was our 5th visit to this resort, our first time staying in Rivera. We absolutely love this resort. This year is the first year I felt that there was a class divide.... When asking for lobby cars etc you were asked what colour band you were wearing, all very well but we all have spent money to be here please don't class me it's almost prejudice. The colonial bar is the place to be in the evening with Ricardo, Manuel and Santiago taking charge and looking after you.... Love these guys! Also mentioning Rosa and Luisa serving throughout Colonial, great girls. Pools are fab and there is never an issue with sun beds. We had a fabulous relaxing time in the Spa for my husbands birthday, thanks to Sheila and Memo. The al a carte restaurants were slightly disappointing this time regarding service, except the Thai, this place is amazing and the food fantastic. We had more meals at the buffet then ever before, service and variety of food here fantastic, if you can't find anything to eat here you are clearly from Mars!!! The Riviera is soon becoming part of the Royal section so massive changes coming! Thank you Mexico see you again soon!

Beautiful Resort and Staff

I will be doing 2 parts to this review for this resort.First, the resort is absolutely beautiful. We were staying in one of the suites and it was very nice and house keeping did a wonderful job keeping it clean. The food at the resort was really good and I was highly impressed. We ate at the Japanese Restaurant and the Italian Restaurant. The Japanese restaurant was delicious, I would definitely recommend eating there, but you need a reservation and you have to be on time. My favorite restaurant was the Italian Restaurant, which you do not need a reservation for but I still would make one since it is very busy. The food there was AMAZING!!! I would HIGHLY recommend the salmon and mushroom risotto. Buffets were wonderful, and has a great assortment. Room service was very good as well. I would recommend the chicken burger. Room service knew us by name, room number, and what our was by the 3rd day there . I thought that was awesome on their part.We only did one excursion there, and if you love dolphins, I would highly recommend swimming with the dolphins at Dolphinaris. We swam with them for over 2 hours and it was amazing to swim with those dolphins. Many activities with them as far as a foot push, belly ride, snorkeling. Try it !!!Now, onto the staff. The staff was wonderful at this resort, and they go out of their way for anything you need. There is one staff member in particular that really stood out and really went above and beyond our whole trip, Rodrigo Cristianni. He is AMAZING!!! I suffered an injury at the resort and he went totally out of his way to help me with anything I needed. On days he was not at our pool, he made sure his co workers took care of me and I thought that was very sweet of him. He is just wonderful with the guests. We were all commenting on how he took care of anyone that needed anything. He made my stay more comfortable after getting injured. He is a very good asset to this resort. Now, 2nd part of my review. While I was at the resort, the 4th day I was there, I had fallen on one of their bridges due to a broken board. It took 2 hours for ice delivered to the room, and the manager at the resort was absolutely horrible. She did not do one thing to accommodate me in any way. Never even called to see if I was ok during the next few days I had left there. She wouldn't even give us our picture for free, NOTHING!!!! Very poor management skills on her end. I even had to rent crutches there. Then she tried to get me to sign a form not to file a claim against the resort right when I was leaving, which I denied. This was the worst part of our stay at this resort.I would recommend this resort. It is beautiful, very relaxing. It has great entertainment and the food there is amazing. It is very clean and maintained and the staff is wonderful. Also, when you stay at this resort, you have access to all 4 resorts which you can get around by golf carts, and the staff is amazing with transportation back and forth. Great employees, they really hustle and bustle at this resort. Makes your stay very relaxing and care free. Except for my injury, I really enjoyed the resort and I would go back.

Second visit

With the increase in price you would think that service would not be a issue. Went several times to the sports bar and only one waitress working and the place was busy. In the buffet we experience great service to not seeing anyone for drinks while sitting for dinner several times. Room where clean and modern. Would recommend the Japanese and Thai restaurant yummy.

Mega-resort with an eco-setting

My fiancé and I stayed at this resort April 16-23 with 3 children and her parents. It is a mega-resort comprising four separate hotels with facilities shared between all guests, plus the exclusive Royal area. We booked a family suite and were assigned a third floor suite in villa 63 (close to the salt water pool, which was a definite plus). The separate living room, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and 2 balconies provided plenty of space for the 5 of us and was worth the premium we paid, although we spent less time there than we had anticipated. Her parents had a ground floor room in villa 60 which was closest to the main building and to the beach.Few of the villas have an ocean view, but the eco jungle setting is still quite pleasant. It's a 10 minute walk to the main building and a 20 minute walk to the beach, so you get a lot of exercise built in to the resort experience! The cleaning staff, security and shuttle drivers were generally attentive, friendly and helpful. The kids (5, 9, and 10) were not impressed by the Kids Club, but it's hard to say whether that was because of the quality of the staff and programming, or because they preferred to hang out with the grown-ups at the beach or pool. The buffet restaurant at the Riviera was the best of the bunch, and was one of the kids' highlights of the vacation. We tried the Mexican, barbecue and seafood restaurants - all of which were perfectly adequate but nothing special. There are so many bars all over the property you never have a problem getting a coffee or drink. The bar by the secret pool (adults only) was a pleasant change from the busier ones at the beach and main pools. That said, we never had a problem getting chairs at the beach or tables at the buffet restaurants, even for our group of seven. We visited all four of the hotels over the course of the week, and while are quite similar and all looked quite nice, the lobby at the White Sands was my favourite.Going as a family, we didn't take advantage of much of the entertainment programming although we went to the early show at the Colonial a number of times. The shows were okay for the kids, but you're not missing them if you decide to give them a pass.Despite a couple of rainy days, everybody thoroughly enjoyed themselves and the kids are already planning their next resort vacation!

Excellent séjour

It was my 5th visit at the Grand Palladium Riviera Maya but my first at the Riviera section. Everything was awesome as usual. Rooms were a little older but very clean et well maintained. But the rooms are not why I'm going there, it's only for sleeping! I keep coming back for the awesome POP - People of Palladium. They make you feel like family and I made lots of friends along the way. Special mentions to the following POP:Rodrigo: Awesome work at animation but mostly at the blackjack table in the Colonial lobby at night. Always a great time with him!Roberto: One of my favorite POP ever! He is always there to keep you entertained and make sure you're having the time of your life! Always making jokes and making you laugh!!! He's become one of my best friends and is one of the main reason I keep going back time after time!Oscar: Always full of energy and smiling wide, he's as good as an animation employee can get. Best dancing teacher!!Maryana: One of the sweetest person I ever met, she's amazing at animation! Always making sure everyone is alright and has fun.Julio: He's at the Royal for animation now but still one of the best there is! Always smiling and having fun with the guests. The other employees at the resort are also awesome, from the bellboys to the servers, bartenders, personnel at the reception and in the back office! Had a little accident last time hurting my ankle and everyone was so nice making sure I was alright and had anything I needed. I'm already planning trip # 6!!
