Our Opinion

The Grand Palladium Riviera is a good 4.5-star luxury resort. While it does offer the basic amenities of a high-end resort, there are other resorts that offer better luxuries. The buffet restaurants are far more of a superior option than the a la cartes. The rooms could use a little bit of a revamp, as there have been some reports that the bathrooms have a tendency to get a little leaky. The beach view is incredible. However, the grounds are a little rocky. This is a great resort for those who like large scale hotels. There are both shuttle and walking options in getting around the hotel. It is advised though that guests should know the layout well to avoid getting lost.

Overview

Located in the Palladium Resort complex, the Grand Palladium Riviera shares its facilities with the Grand Palladium Colonial, Kantenah and White Sand resorts and faces a kilometre of private beach. Respecting the flora and fauna of the area, this resort was built with all buildings blending into the natural surroundings. Nestled in a mangrove forest facing the Caribbean sea of the Mayan Riviera, Grand Palladium Riviera Resort and Spa offers all-suite accommodations in nine peaceful villas, including Suites suitable for up to five guests.

Location: Located on Kantenah Beach, 25 minutes from Playa del Carmen & 80 minutes from the airport.

Medical facilities a sham!

I visited the on site medical clinic while vacationing at the Grand Palladium Kantenah for sinus/cold symptoms on May 25,2017. The nurse acted like I had a serious infection and insisted that I go to the hospital for blood tests and they would provide transportation. She gave me a shot of medication that is BANNED in the US. She did not say one word about cost for the transportation. After spending over $300 for an unnecessary blood test at the hospital revealing sinus infection, I received a bill a few weeks later for $1,200 for "emergency travel and mileage fee!" I even had to pay a cab for return to the hotel. This is totally a rip off. She should have told me the cost and let me decide how to get to the hospital if I needed to go. Maybe cahoots with clinic, resort and hospital? I will not recommend this resort at all due to my experience of being significantly overcharged for an 18 mile trip to the hospital that was uncalled for and should have been taken care of at the clinic.

Pedicure at Zentopia

My family had a great vacation at Grand Palladium Kantenah, except for the pedicure I got at (onsite) Zentopia Spa. When I booked the pedicure, the clerk asked me if I wanted a spa ($79) or a classic ($69) pedicure. I asked the difference, and she said the spa includes an exfoliation treatment. During the pedicure, the technician didn't give me the exfoliation treatment and when I asked about it, she told me I'd paid for the Classic. I showed her my receipt that said "spa". She got up angrily, went and got the exfoliation treatment and applied it. I thought perhaps someone had written the wrong type on her paper, but I sneaked a peek when I was finished and it said spa. So I feel like she was trying to rip me off. When I left, I told the spa personnel. I asked to see the description of the pedicures, like we have in the states, but they don't have anything that shows the descriptions, just different prices. The spa facilities are amazing though, and you get free access to them if you book a treatment. I also had a massage that was incredible.
