Our Opinion

The Grand Riviera Princess is a relatively good resort situated in the heart of the Riviera Maya Strip. The grounds are immaculate and well-maintained. The staff of the resort are also incredibly helpful and friendly. The check-in and check-out process goes by a bit quicker than most other resorts. The food options are varied, however booking for a la carte restaurants can be a bit of a process. Overall, it's still a great resort for those looking to relax in the heart of the Riviera Maya.

Great entertainment and swim up bars!

We stayed in the Platinum Suite building which was closest to the beach, however the furthest from the main building including the spa, 2 buffets, gym and most restaurants. The platinum suites have their own check-in and concierge to assist you as well as a bar with snacks and premium liquors. The platinum concierge in the afternoon, Rodrigo, is very attentive and helpful. He was able to help us with any concerns we had and assisted us with changing dinner reservations on 2 occasions. I would stay here again because the staff is great. The only complaint is that none of the rooms on the resort have an ocean view. .

Fantastic!!!

This was our first time at an all inclusive and we were thrilled with the resort. The welcome and lobby was fantastic and while we waited for our room to be ready they suggested we grab something to eat/drink at one of the many great buffets. We received a free upgrade to the Family Suites which was a lovely surprise and had us in a roomy, bright room in a good location. We enjoyed all of the pools, the beach, the drinks, the buffets, the shuttle, and the a la carte restaurants. The staff was friendly, of course there are always a couple surly ones but they were far outweighed by the many other pleasant staff. The grounds are so lovely and clean. And although the food is plentiful and delicious we did not gain any weight that week due to the walking that you do around the vast resort. There is a shuttle service which is easy to access and great when you need it but really the walking was great to do and had such a lovely ambiance that we chose to get the exercise most of the time. Everything is within a 5 minutes walk due to our room being pretty much close to the center of the resort. The beach was awesome. There are plenty of lounge chairs and lots of shade available along with some fun activities such as foam party, volleyball and free mini massages. A wonderful space. The many pools were fantastic with most being connected to mini waterways that threaded their way through the resort. Lots of space and opportunity if places were crowded due to activities or the popular swim-up bars. We were very pleased with everything and would highly recommend the resort to friends and family. Thank you for a great introduction to all-inclusive vacations.

New Year in the Sun

We spent as a family 2 weeks at this hotel, we have had no real issues or concerns with this place. As a few have mentioned we arrived with some concerns given the amount of negative reviews, all I can say to that is that you truly can't please everyone . We stopped in a junior suite , yes the room was tired looking and the room did smell musty upon arrival, we turned the air on off immediately and within a couple of hours the smell was gone ( not sure how feasible that would be at the height of summer!). Anything that needed attention was sorted immediately we received at least 2 calls a day from the concierge asking how our stay was going which was nice. I would also say for families the 2 double beds in there are not UK size doubles, my wife and I aren't particularly big but the beds were too small for us to share! The staff work very hard , it was the cleanest place I have ever visited, the day/night entertainment team did a good job and the food was fine. If you stay 2 weeks like we did then yes it is going to get repetitive.New Year's Eve they put on a fabulous evening and worth staying there just for this event. Well done to whoever organised this.Overall great hotel, it is a uk 4* not 5T+ as firstchoice advertise. It was though still good value for money and would recommend.

Fantastic Stay!

We stayed here between the 6th and the 21st of December 2016. This is our second visit to this amazing resort, last time staying in June 2015, and once again it didn't disappoint. The check in process was a bit slow as there was another bus arrival at the same time but we didn't let this bother us and we managed to get drinks from the lobby bar while we waited. Our rooms were on the Riviera side, which was good as last time we were on Sunset side so it was good to get a different view! This time we had Junior Deluxe Suites which were very spacious, clean and looked out on to the main pool at the resort which was also a bonus! To be honest, the only difference between these rooms and the standard junior suite was the fact it had a whirlpool jacuzzi bath so you can make your mind up weather it's worth the extra money or not. The maid was very efficient and left different 'towel animals' every day. All the restaurants were amazing! Not sure what people find to moan about as we were a group of 8 and still managed to eat in all the restaurants at night, together.. there was so much choice! We never had to queue to book or even queue to get in the restaurants. We only used the buffet twice during our 2 week stay. Our favourite was the Teppanyaki as it was very interactive, lots of fun and the food tasted great! Another personal favourite was Le Fluer, our visits here were made even better by our waiter Freddie who gave us lots of laughs! Also a good tip for UK tourists: if you pay to eat at the Chill Out restaurant in the evening, at your earliest opportunity of your stay, you then gain access to the Chill Out area on the beach for the rest of your stay and this includes great sunbeds, WiFi, great service and drinks all day! The cheapest meal you can buy (fancy fish and chips) works out at about a tenner so it's totally worth it! The breakfast buffet had lots to choose from, the snack cart at the side of the pool did burgers and hot dogs and there was a buffet on the beach so there was always plenty to eat during the day. We also made a great discovery of the ice cream parlour (located in the family club) and we made daily visits as the ice cream was just too good! The entertainment was great, there was lots to keep you busy during the day. As we were in a large group it was perfect for us - from beach zumba to rifle shooting and water aerobics we could all choose what we wanted to get involved with and when. The entertainment team were all lovely and definitely made our holiday. As returning guest's it was great to see Edwin and Sammy still there and they remembered us! Special mention to smiley Sergio, even with an injury during a game he still managed to smile and make us laugh! Service at the bar was great. The fantasy bar was where we frequented most days and got fab service from Alex who made all 8 of us an 'Alex Special' everyday, which tasted amazing! It was also good to see that we didn't need to stand there waving a dollar bill to get served, it made NO difference. Evenings were good. Loved the live bands! It was a bit difficult to get 8 seats every night as it did fill up fast but we always managed. We just wish they played for longer! We had seen most of the shows last year but we did have a few new ones to see like Frozen and Grease and they were very good! A big shout out to Mariana, our drinks waitress at the Gyro Bar.. we actually met her last year in the chill out and got a pleasant surprise when she came over to us one evening! She is lovely, very polite and always looked after us during the holiday.Yes the resort is very large but the suggested 15 minute walk by people on here is very exaggerated it's no where near that! Plus the grounds are very beautiful and there is loads of wildlife so there is lots to look at! Just be careful of the coaties, they are very cute but will jump on you if your eating a burger on a sunbed, as we found out! Haha.We will definitely be returning as we do love this resort.. maybe when we do come back we will finally see a British flag flying in the main plaza one evening ;) !!

Good Trip

We had a very enjoyable trip. We stayed Nov 28 2016 for 9 days. The food was good, but getting a reservation at the a la carte restaurants was headache. We were 8 people so possibly the larger table was an issue. Nothing wrong with eating at the buffets. Good variety & attentive service. The room was comfortable & had everything you would expect. Next time I would bring my own shampoo/conditioner though, and a line to dry swimwear on.The hotel participates in Pack for a Purpose with a bin by the lobby to drop donations into. There were very nice tennis courts there & they offer lessons in the morning, before it gets too hot.The ice cream parlour was worth looking for & we never saw it busy. mmmm milkshake.
