Our Opinion

The Hidden Beach Resort is a great luxury getaway destination suited for adults and couples. It is situated near the El Dorado Beach Resort, so the beach area is shared amongst both hotels. There are plenty of beach side activities to do during the day. The sand is a little grainy and the beach area isn't well suited for swimming due to the presence of coral. However, it's still a great place to sun bathe. The suites are amazing and well-maintained. Good food options with regards to the buffet and a la carte options. Amazing and attentive staff.

I don't know where to begin…The Hidden Beach resort was excellent from start to finish! The staff was amazing! They catered to every need. A special thank you goes out to Angel, David, & Daniel. Esperanza even made me a special drink that I requested with pineapple, ice, and coconut rum… Delicious! Our room was fabulous as well! A beautiful sunrise every morning and always something to look forward to doing throughout the day. We will definitely return… Thank you again!

NIce and quiet

Read a lot of reviews so had a pretty good idea what to expect our first time here. Still was a bit surprised by the age range. Have seen 30's to 50's quite a bit on here but honestly it is more like 1 or 2 couples in their 40's, several more in their 50's, and mostly 60's and 70's. Really felt like a retirement resort for nudists. Nightlife is really dull with only a few couples in the moonlight lounge. Much better nightlife next door at other resort but no nudity of course. Food is good. Staff is great but had trouble getting shampoo for shower our first day there. Swim up room is really nice and convenient. Pool water is too cold to really enjoy in 3rd week of November so didn't really take advantage of expensive swim up room. Never saw one person in the lazy river. Wifi worked pretty well. Mini bar was restocked daily. Bed service was consistent. Gym is lacking but the one at El Dorado is decent. The only real social mingling is with pool volleyball or in the hot tub in the late afternoon when the pool is too cold to stay in. The people are really spread out between the beach beds, the pool, the swim up patios and second floor balconies so it's a bit on the lonely side. Used Happy Shuttle instead of Lomas and glad I did. It was much cheaper for private shuttle and service was excellent. If you want an almost completely private, quiet nacation to yourselves with great staff that is all inclusive this is it. If you want any excitement at all, or activities, or people in their 30's or 40's look elsewhere. Would definitely come back in 20 years when we are older.

Better with addition of new restaurants

Back after a year: the food, both at HBR and the new El Dorado Seaside resort's restaurants are better than ever. Mia Casa has moved from Sensimar, next door and joins Klal Talal, the new Asian restaurant as well as seaside market, a buffet style third restaurant.Upstairs is Mezcalito, a new bar with great views, vibes and drinks. Even tried Mescal, the smoky and potent drink that is Mexico's answer to those peaty single malt scotches. The staff at HBR has had essentially no turnover and it is indeed a pleasure after a years absence to be hailed by name by such stalwarts as Angel, Aniceto, Esperanza, Alfredo and so on.Lacking a decent beach and with gradually aging accommodations, HBR still is a great place for a 'nacation'.

NIce, friendly resort

We stayed at Hidden Beach last year and decided to return. We will likely return again next year. The resort is small, and everyone is friendly. We met many couples from various places and countries. All were friendly and interesting. There is pool volley ball twice daily which is a lot of fun. I emphasize the word "fun". These are not professional or serious games in any way. If you happen to be a serious volleyball player, you need to leave your competitive attitude at home. Everyone is welcome, even if you are not a good player, and it is all very laid back. The "Mexican rules" will be explained to all newcomers, and you will find them sometimes very creative. Be sure to ask about "rule # 7". we stayed in a swim up room. It was a very nice room, with a nice little patio and chairs, and its own little pool area. You can swim from there to the main pool. It was very convenient to the pool and restaurant, and also to the Moonlight bar. However it is substantially more money than the regular rooms, so it is a high price to pay for the convenience. The restaurant has very good food and larger portions than last year. The waiters were all very friendly. I did feel that the service could have been better but I believe that is because they need more wait staff. The waiters were extremely busy, and working very hard. They could not keep up with the number of patrons. We found there to be many more in the restaurant this year than last even though the resort was booked completely both years. We did not visit the restaurants on "the dark side" at all. We did not want to bother getting dressed and walking over there. The moonlight bar had a different theme and activity nightly. We especially enjoyed karaoke, and glow night where an artist paints everyone's body with glow in the dark paint. He does a really nice job and it was a lot of fun. My only problem with the bar, is that the music was very loud. There were usually people dancing, but it seemed most people were at tables trying to drink and converse, and it was difficult, involving a lot of yelling. I think the music could be turned down a bit to accomodate both the dancers and the conversation. The beach is nice with nice palapas, however the water is rocky, so water shoes are needed. The fitness center needs help. Two treadmills, one broken and not fixed during the 10 days we were there. The air conditioner set at 24C which was way too hot, fans not working even after we asked them to be turned on. Very unhappy with this part of the resort. We found all of the staff to be friendly and helpful. I was especially impressed with the two activities directors, Daniel and Adrian. The activites were fun and they were both really good at keeping everyone engaged.

A great vacation served by an excellent staff

Our first trip to Mexico after seven trips to Jamaica. What makes this place special? The staff. They do everything they can to make your stay special. Also, our fellow vacationers... very friendly, and we made new friends who we will probably see again here. The water volleyball is fun and plentiful. And all of this without the nasty wet swimsuits! The other portions of the resort are also nice and have some good restaurants. Our favorite was the Gourmet Pub which was just outside the gates of Hidden Beach. Fantastic meals here!
