Our Opinion

A great getaway for both families and couples. The resort offers the usual all-inclusive amenities. There have been reports regarding a slight problem with the Wi-Fi. However, unless you're staying in this resort for business purposes, this isn't necessarily a huge issue. Great a la carte options, especially the European and Japanese restaurants.

Good but not enough lawn chairs

If you plan to lay around the pool or at the beach you will have little to no luck finding a spot. There are not enough chairs for the two resorts that share the pool and beach space. We tried waking up at 6am to reserve a spot and most spots were already claimed (occasionally the resort staff removed belongings from chairs which were then immediately reserved by others instead). When we brought the issue up they said they were aware of the issue but there was nothing they could do. We ended up paying to upgrade to the Lindo next door for the last few days of our trip so we could enjoy the resort.Other than this, the resort was beautiful with lots of wildlife and lush trees. The food was also really great.

How in the World Do They Have Such a Great Rating!

We were so excited about this trip as it had a 4.7 rating and we wanted to try other all-inclusive resorts. What a disappointment. The room was a bit old with two small very soft double beds which with our combined weight of 300 pounds had us sleeping on top of each other. The grounds, pool area and beach did not disappoint. Everything was kept very clean and both were good sized. The biggest disappointment was the food. All you can eat turned into "Can I find something appealing to eat?" We quickly went from looking forward to meal time to looking at it as just a way to subsist. The only exception was the Taco Bar area. We ate there three times and it was excellent each time. We only went to two specialty restaurants as their food was not any better. The staff does rate higher than a three as everyone we encountered was super friendly. On a final irritating note they tried to get us to attend their sales pitch to buy into their member packages three times. They start right off after checking in when you make your specialty restaurant selections and even called the room mid-week and then wanted an explanation as to why I was not interested in coming. Why in the world would I want to lock in years of vacations at an Iberostar property when it is so mediocre. I think the good reviews are coming from the folks that bought the sales pitch and are now stuck with their choice.

Beautiful resort. Awesome staff . Food is hit or miss

This resort is beautiful!. Well maintained. The whole staff is excellent. They will go above and beyond. Our safe malfunctioned and I was unable to get my belongings out. Called the front desk and maintenance was at my door in 5 minutes to get the safe open. The food is definitely hit or miss. The breakfast buffet is the same every day. They make fresh paella on the beach which waa very good. The a la carte was great. Especially the Mediterranean restaurant. The shopping center has a fresh taco grill and an ice cream and crepes parlor and coffee shop which also has finger foods . Great options for lunch instead of the buffet. The entertainment team was great. The rooms were very clean and maintained. The lobby bar has the best drinks. I definitely plan to go back again.

Iberostar meets Bates Motel

Let me start by saying the grounds, beaches, and pools are all gorgeous. Literally a tropical paradise! Birds, peacocks, and other animals provide a very tropical feel. The grounds are very well maintained and beautiful. Unfortunately, the service level didn't rise to the same level. We spent 8 nights here and had two rooms for a family of six. One room was just fine, however the room for my wife and I had several issues. Day one the A/C wouldn't go below about 74 degrees, we called the front desk and were told they would adjust it. Unfortunately this wasn't taken care of. Day one upon arrival the toilet was plugged. They came and fixed this in the morning. On the first morning the bathroom was very dim because of a flickering lightbulb we advised the staff and were told it would be taken care of. It was not. This flickering continued to worsen and made it very difficult to put in and take out my contacts. We contacted the front desk again, and were told it would be taken care of. Again it didn't happen. This cycle was repeated multiple times. All in all we had to complain 4 times over 5 days before they finally fixed the A/C and this involved having to get the manager involved. However, even after all this and speaking to the manager they still didn't fix the lightbulb in the bathroom. On day 6, after complaining again to the concierge they finally changed the lightbulb. Very frustrating! Cleaning quality was average, sometimes not fully cleaned mirrors and sinks. Food quality was lower than expected, both in the a la Carte restaurants as well as the buffets. Totally burned my lobster in the colonial restaurant, over cooked ribeye and super low quality meat in the steakhouse, Mexican restaurant was okay. Buffets had a large quantity and variety but again low quality food. Burgers, fries, and hot dogs were always the mainstay. Even the kids got tired of the food. Room service was a very small menu that repeated what was on the buffets.Drinks, I am a non alcoholic drinker. Variety was low and a large variation in preparation, with some providing good flavored drinks and others too strong or too weak. Being a foodie, I was disappointed with the food and drink options. When letting the manager know of my disappointment with the a la Carte restaurants I was told I could fill out a form. Not sure what that would really do so I never bothered. Overall, the resort is gorgeous but lacks a level of customer service that I would expect from this type of resort and even when bringing it to management, staff, and the concierge's attention action was very slow in coming or non existence. We had a great time with the Star Friends and staff and enjoyed our vacation. Just wish the customer service level and food would have been at a higher level so we didn't have to be bothered with things they should have taken care of. Even when things were finally taken care no gesture was given to apologize for the inconveniences.

Great getaway

My husband and I celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary at the Iberostar Paraiso Beach Resort. We were there from April 20 to the 26. The property was very nice. We had a Junior Suite and it was comfortabke. We enjoyed the beach and pool. The beach was a little rocky, the water was warm. The pool is the largest in the Caribbean! The pool has 2 swim-up bars. The is a quiet pool with waterfalls for those who want it less noisy. The food was ok. We ate at the Brazilian Restaurant was excellent. Our favorite restaurant was the Italian Restaurant. It is a large property and they have golf carts for its guests to get around. I would recommend getting a room closer to the beach and pool. It was only a 5 minute walk to the buffet and lobby. The shopping plaza was nice, we didn't feel the need to leave the resort. At the plaza, they have excellent tacos which is included in the all-inclusive. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only negative was the entertainment, it was boring. They got people on stage and gad them do silly things. We would return to the Iberostar Paraiso Beach!
