Our Opinion

A great getaway for both families and couples. The resort offers the usual all-inclusive amenities. There have been reports regarding a slight problem with the Wi-Fi. However, unless you're staying in this resort for business purposes, this isn't necessarily a huge issue. Great a la carte options, especially the European and Japanese restaurants.

Believe the reviews....

Maybe it was because we were is a large group of 20. I planned this as a celebration for family of 6 with friends added on for a fun trip. Rooms-wrong bed assignment. We had 3 people in a king. They could not fix issue so we all changed rooms to accommodate and just adjusted. Ants... in bathroom and bedroom very small hard to see but ALL OVER. I can deal with wrong beds but bugs are not my favorite. BEAUTIFUL POOLS....close at 7 so don't plan to swim after dinner. Ever. Beach is gorgeous. Lots of chairs but get there early. FOOD. Wow. Disappointing. If you like cheese sticks and hash browns you're good. All 20 of us agreed unanimously on this. We had people 18-60. I'm not picky but holy smokes. You're on vacation. Fresh fruit was cut and put back in refrigerator and frozen so it was mush when put out. Best meals we had we off resort on 5th avenue. The specialty restaurants were a joke. Because we were a big group it was prefixed menu at least that's what we were told. I'm not sure how this applies at Japanese place if it's seating of 20 per station whether you're in one group or separate parties what difference does it make? It's 20 at a table! We were actually told we had to leave at one place because next group was coming in. There were 20 of us and we all finished in 40 min. Hardly lingering at the table. What a disappointment. You're next to ocean could I get fresh fish just once lol? The lobster at specialty place could not be cut. It was that bad. But we had to leave for next group coming in. Beach resturante ....yuck. Weird hot dogs and hamburgers if that's your thing. I don't eat like that at home let alone vacation. I would have been happy with peanut butter and jelly. Seriously. Drinks were sugar overdose. SHOWS Nothing else to do as pools close at 7. Nothing special. WALKING... if you need assistance or have issue with distance this is not place for you. Believe it. They don't stop and it's a hike to the beach. The Mayan jungle tour at the front (Jorge) set us up and Pablo was our guide. Best day of vacation. Awesome tour!Iberostar is known for being reliable brand. I don't know what happened but I can spend money in US and get quality food and be just as happy. I really wanted everyone to have a great time but the food was a huge disappointment and we wouldn't return here if we were offered it for free. People who served drinks at pool and daily activities were the best part about the trip. The hotel treats them horribly with 12 hour days and they keep smiling. Tip them they work hard. Even though our food sucked we still tipped because they always had smile on their face.

Great Vacation!

Great stay for the price! It's the "lowest" of the 3 hotels on the property, but still felt like royalty!!! I put "lowest" in quotations, because it isn't low quality, it just happens to be cheaper than Del Mar and Lindo, but the stay is just as nice! The staff is extremely friendly at all times, and atmosphere is top notch. The entertainment staff always seem like they are having a good time, and it doesn't feel forced, it legit seems like they love their jobs! Such a great feeling to be among people who like their line of work. The buffets were really good, always a variety. The a la carte restaurants are pretty decent, but had a bad experience at the Mediterranean Restaurant, but didn't let it hurt the vacation.. didn't even really see it necessary to address there as we ate at the buffet instead.. Mediterranean wasn't our favorite, and the service there seemed to be lacking.. but again, it didn't ruin the trip. We went diving through Dressel Divers, the dive shop is conveniently located right on their property on the beach! GREAT staff there as well, awesome dives. The main area pool was great, best drinks, best atmosphere, and even a little ice cream place in the middle for when you need to cool off. Ricardo was the bartender for us the entire week in the pool, and he was awesome! The lobby bar had amazing drinks and live entertainment also. Impossible to not meet people and have a good time! This is our 3rd stay at Iberostar Paraiso Beach, and it just gets better and better! Thank you, Iberostar! We would love to try your other locations!

Warning! Iberostar

The resort looked beautiful. The beach was wonderful and there were lots of chairs/huts. The fitness facility was one of the best I've seen as were the instructors. The rooms were not nice to say the least. Ours smelled like raw sewage and after lots of fighting/ time at reception they did switch our room... but what a hassle. The other rooms had a faint smell of sewage but nothing compared to what we dealt with. The staff, on the most part, were not willing to help and not as pleasant as at most resorts. At breakfast it was hard to get a cup of tea or coffee refilled and plates sat at our table for a long period. We could not book any a la cart restaurants as they lost our first set of reservations, then it was full. Eventually we did squeeze in the Brazilian restaurant only to be told when we got there we had to hurry out for another seating. The food in the buffet was absolutely horrible. The beach stand was a bit better. I spent so many hours at the reception trying to get things fix/booked/etc. What a waste of time! We repetitively asked to speak to a manager but the staff would not get one... or maybe there wasn't one! There was one chef, Alexis (I think that's how his name was spelled) who tried to help us and listened to our concerns. He was very friendly and helpful.

Nice all-inclusive for the price

We had a very nice stay at the Paraiso Beach Hotel. The buffets were very good, the pool and beach were crowded. The swimming at the beach was not ideal because there is coral and rock about 20 feet into the surf. After crossing the rocks, the swimming was nice.My teenagers liked that things were spread out. The 18+ crowd loved the disco. The walk from the lobby to the beach is surprising long. If my parents (>70yo) were to go with me, they would need a golf cart to transport them from the unit to the beach and to the lobby. Prepare to walk. The golf course is a Pete Dye design and cost about $99 and a bit more if you are renting clubs. It's not an amazing course but it is lush and well kept. There are short holes that force you to play target golf. I think for the price, it is a good course. If you plan to play more than one round, you might want to consider bringing your clubs. Bring some balls from home. There is a range and you have to pay for your range balls. The drinks and food are included for resort guests. The specialty restaurants are pretty good. Our favorites were the Mediterranean and Japanese ones. Make your reservations early. The Del Mar shares the same pool and beach. I liked hanging out in that lobby more than the Beach lobby. There is a Rock and Roll Cafe at the Del Mar that has satellite TVs so we could watch NCAA games. The drinks were readily available all throughout and the lobby bar had the best. :). The nightly shows were kind of cheesy but it is what I'd expect from this level of an all-inclusive.The dive shop was great. We did 12 dives between the 4 of us and the price was reasonable, the dive masters were great and the equipment dependable. We did a day trip to Cozumel which was an all day adventure but probably our most memorable day. I'd suggest bringing about $100-150 in ones to tip. You don't need to but the staff are fabulous and it is nice to give them a little something for their work.

You get what you pay for

Food was OK. Buffet got to be a little repetitive due to only being given 3 a la carte reservations for a 7 night stay. Drinks were well below par. The grounds were beautiful and very well kept. Entertainment crew was fantastic, best we've seen yet. Due to the fact you share everything with the del Mar (cheaper resort) be aware of american spring breakers some of which can be extremely obnoxious. Pool did have some slime on the bottom in some areas but overall it was nice. Beach had a lot of seaweed. Not the fault of the workers they were alway cleaning it up but just couldn't keep ahead of it. The golf course was top notch and fairly priced. If we were to return we would probably upgrade to the lindo to avoid the spring breakers
