Our Opinion

A great getaway for both families and couples. The resort offers the usual all-inclusive amenities. There have been reports regarding a slight problem with the Wi-Fi. However, unless you're staying in this resort for business purposes, this isn't necessarily a huge issue. Great a la carte options, especially the European and Japanese restaurants.

Wedding/Family Vacation 12/29/16-1/4/17

We stayed at Paraiso Beach for my daughters wedding. I'll discuss wedding details first then I will address resort details. We started planning the wedding with the resort about 10 months prior to the wedding date. All correspondence is done through email. Honestly it can be frustrating at times but all in all it wasn't a bad experience, it was still much easier than planning a wedding at home. The first thing you need to realize is that they want to charge extra for everything. We had 45 guests in our party and we purchased the silver wedding package which only covers 20 people, so we knew we would have to pay for the extra guests. I don't consider my daughter to be very particular about things but everything she wanted to do for the wedding had an extra charge, so be prepared for that. My biggest complaint about the planning was that about 1 month before the wedding they changed us over to a different wedding coordinator and we had to go back through everything we done in the very beginning. All details had to be discussed again just like we had never talked about them. They said that they had forwarded all previous emails to the new coordinator but that didn't help. Once we arrived and met with our coordinator, all the details were exactly as we had discussed and everything was fine. Alexia was our final coordinator and we were pleased with her.We had our reception on the beach and it was great! The meal was delicious and everyone had a fantastic time. The resort: We had a large group of people and they had told us that wifi was throughout the resort, well...it is not reliable. We did not all phone plans as we were planning on using wifi, so we had a very hard time communicating with our party. Several in our group were in building 30 which is the ocean front rooms. This is great for the beach and the pool but bad when you have to go back and forth to the lobby. It is a LONG way to the lobby. There are golf carts that go back and forth, they say they run every 5 minutes but that is not true! We walked ourselves to death and we had several elderly people in our group. We tried calling the front desk to request golf carts but that did not help. There are little huts where the carts pick you up like a bus stop, don't think that if you just start walking that they will pick you up because they will not. You must be at a hut to get picked up! I begged, offered money, stood in the middle of the road, nothing worked. This is my biggest complaint about the resort, it is just so big!You must get up early in the morning to reserve chairs or you will not get one. If you are up by 7am, that should get you a decent spot, just put a towel or magazine on the chair and no one will bother it. They say that you can't do that but everyone does. This is done at every resort I have been to. The pools are very expansive and beautiful. This resort does not have a lazy river, the next step up does (Maya/Lindo).You need to make dinner reservations as soon as you arrive. If possible make them before you arrive, I don't know if that is possible or not. We were unable to get reservations until the last two nights of our stay. All the food we had during our stay was very good! We ate at the El Colonial (French) and the Mediterranean (I don't remember the name). All of the grounds are beautiful, it is a treat just to walk around and look at everything. There are peacocks, swans, flamingos, coati, parrots and more. They are very interesting to watch. There were not many flowers blooming while we were there but the grounds were still beautiful. We were disappointed in the night club. The music is terrible, you can never tell when one song ends and another starts as the beat is all the same. I visited this resort 4 years ago and the club had exactly the same furniture and was playing the same boring music then. We had several 20-30 year olds in our group that were interested in the night life but they were disappointed. We tried going every night but it always the same.Everyone was pleased with their rooms, they were clean and well kept. One in my group had an ocean view room but was unable to see the ocean because of a tree blocking the view, she was very disappointed to have paid extra money for the view and not have it. When she asked about it they tried to sell her a timeshare to guarantee a room upgrade. Lomas Travel: Luis and Roger took very good care of us. Our transportation to and from the airport was great, they also booked a catamaran/snorkeling tour for us. Everyone had a great time that afternoon.

Beautiful, massive Resort

Our room was on the beach which was gorgeous! They had hair dryers, ironing board and a drying rack on balcony for wet swim suits. There was an ice machine on site which is rare in Mexico. The floors are very slippery being marble so don't run and take off your flops. The sheets feel wet at night because of the ocean being so close so turn down your bed before you go out to dinner. There is a nice assortment of beer, soda and water. If you want more beer they will only deliver a six pack at a time. Usually Dosequis. Room service food is bland and not very good so don't expect much. I recommend tipping five US dollars the first day and two dollars every day there after. If you tip at the end you miss out on the extra service. That's about it for the room. The property was beautiful and large. The golf carts were easy to catch. If you can't walk this is not the resort for you as it is massive and connected to two other resorts. I would've liked to have been able to visit the connecting pools with one bracelet but you could only use your own. Palace resorts will allow you to hop between them for dinner and such. I did go get a drink in a neighboring lobby hotel and tipped good and no one blinked an eye. There are flamingos at the Del Mar next door so check them out along with the black swan. The beach was great, best get up early to get a palapito and put your own beach towel preferably a personal one down to save your spot. Not supposed to do this but let me tell you, everyone does. The drinks are good, the buffet on the beach is adequate, Fun to feed the angel fish hamburger. :) Don't let the Kwati steal your food. They are racoon related and are cute but they will bite and it's no joke. People have gotten terribly hurt. The pools are large and you can float if you buy a 16 dollar US raft. It's not a lazy river though, no current. We left our raft with people like other people did with us....fellow vacationer pay it forward deal. My biggest disappointment was the food.. All inclusive means you get to pick 2 restaurants. I complained and got three. Otherwise you are buffet bound. Lots of bread, filler cheap food. If you did try to get in another night at a themed restaurant they would always tell you it was booked. Funny thing is if you walked by, they were empty. That's the scam in it. The steak was good, the Italian was ok and the buffets did their job. I am not doing all inclusive next time. I have always done it and would like a more authentic experience so I will be trying a boutique villa on the beach which they stock with your favorites from the grocery store and then may eat out at night where the locals eat. I visited Puerto Morelos, (very nice) Isla Morelos, (very nice) Playa Del Carmen,( bothersome and seedy)DO NOT put cigarettes out on street-bring a water bottle and put them out in it-bring hand sanitizer and wet wipes. TP, running water are scarce in this place. Cellulitis is easy to get with bacteria and bathroom issues.Cancun,(trendy and young) Maroma Beach (beautiful) and Cozumel (beautiful and cheaper than you think to shop) All inclusive is mute for someone who runs around like I do.

DO NOT STAY HERE

Positive.... large pool areas.Beach was nice.Spotty service.Good pool however the water was cold and no one was using it. I blame the weather so no biggie. You get a towel card ...I asked for an additional towel since i'm 6'3" and of course he said no all four days. On the last day my partner was rushed to the hospital fromm the meal we had the previous night.I asked to speak to a manager and of course I was told no.We spent $200 in cab fares because of the hospital. $100 in pharmacy bills and $1400 at the hospital. Lost a full day of vacation. So I ask...why stay here?

Relaxing

Went to Iberostar Paraiso Beach in the second week of January and it was the best hotel I've ever been to. The all inclusive really makes the entire trip stress free. There is a shopping mall with a coffee and taco shop that you can order anything from and it is included with the all inclusive. The pool is extremely long with a quiet side and a more busy side with three pool bars and ample seating. The entertainment crew is fantastic and they never sleep! Nightly shows are alright, the intro was more entertaining than the actual show. The bar tenders at the pool bar are amazing. Remembered my name from day one. The scenery is fantastic too. I think my only complaints would be that the beach was very windy, and the waves were very intense. Also, you had to return your towel every day to get a "towel card". Wifi was okay some days and spotty others... if you weren't actively using it, it would turn itself off.
