Our Opinion

A perfect hotel for families and couples. There is a plethora of activities during the day and night. Evening entertainment is held every night. The property - which includes Iberostar Paraiso Beach - is huge, so this resort is suited for those who don't mind a little bit of walking. There is a variety of both buffet and a la carte items to choose from - make sure to check out the steak restaurant. A great beach area. However, like most large resorts, this area gets fairly busy during the day, so make sure to grab a lounger early. An amazing kids club and there are plenty of all-ages activities.

Great Iberostar del mar vacation

Just returned last night from our vacation. It was my husband and another couple who traveled together to celebrate with us our 32 year wedding anniversary First of all when we arrived we all thought the Lobby was stunning . Check in was very smooth, we scheduled our ala cart dinner reservations. Our rooms were ocean front jr suite, which were large and very nice. We were close to the pool the beach and the buffet, it was a perfect location. Beautiful pool area with lots of shade, tons of chairs around the pool and on the beach. Our drinks were good ordered top shelf good liquors. I was disappointed in the taste of the pina colada, so I never ordered that again. I had Absolute vodka and cranberry juice. My husband had his favorite drink Bacardi and coke with lime. The food was good, made to order eggs and omelets in the morning. Always buffet lunch, hamburgers, french fries, nachos, paella. Also ice cream at the pool everyday. Dinner were fine, we have been to Mexico several time and know usually its not great. I did have an really good fillet at the steak house, but my husbands rib eye was very disappointing ,very thin. It seemed any time we ordered chicken it was always really good.I have to say everyone that worked there was so friendly and hard working, we do always find that in Mexico. The grounds around the hotel and pool are so beautiful. There was tons of seaweed because of the storm that hit them the day before we got there. They work hard everyday to clean the seaweed from the beach. We will definitely be returning there, maybe for my daughter wedding. We also did the Mayan Cenotes adventure, really enjoyed that.

Such cheerful, helpful service!!!

This past July was my first time staying at an all-inclusive resort in Mexico. So I didn't quite know what to expect and had very little to compare it to. But I couldn't have been happier with my choice of spending an entire week at IBEROSTAR: Paraiso del Mar!! From the moment our airport transport pulled up to the resort's exotically colorful open-air lobby, were were impressed. And that initial impression only grew stronger throughout the week. The resort's personnel (from the receptionists and servers to the security guards and housemaids) were all so friendly and helpful. It was rare to pass one of them on the sidewalk without them smiling and saying "Hola!" And grounds of the resort itself are immaculately maintained. It was a joy just to wander around the beautifully landscaped lawns, palm groves, meandering pools, and beach front boardwalk. It really was is an Eden!!! The warm, blue water of the Caribbean are so relaxing to just swim around in with their large, yet gentle waves... especially during the evening as the sun is setting. And the food is always so plentiful and varied. It just took us a couple days to learn which restaurants were open at different parts of the day around the resort. Don't forget to make all the reservations right at the very beginning of your vacation for the more fancy restaurants throughout your stay since these tend to fill up fast. Although there is so much to keep you busy while on the resort, we spent just as much time outside of the resort touring Mayan ruins, swimming in jungle cenotes, attending shows at nearby amusement parks, and shopping along Playa del Carmen's 5th Avenue (something not be missed)! And IBEROSTAR: Paraiso del Mar is centrally located to be within reach of so many fun and interesting things to see and do. There are always several representatives of tour companies available in the main lobby to book your day trips. So all that to say... Would I go again? ...Most definitely!!! For the price, it blew my expectations!

Highlight of the Summer

Pros: Staff are more than welcoming and work very hard to ensure the guests have a good stay. The pool was always clean and finding chairs was never really a problem.I found the food to be much better then in prior trips to this resort. Jorge, Big D, and Orlando (the lobby bartenders) really made this trip they all deserve a raise! Check in and check out were both a breeze took less then 10 minutes for both. Cons: This resort is huge so be prepared to walk alot. Shower water pressure was low and the shower head is mounted very low. (It was hard to think of many cons without being very picky) Overall: This was my third time staying at this Iberostar resort and they have made many improvements since I had been here last (2012), The food is good always an option for even the most picky eaters, our room was always clean and had plenty of towels, for the price I definitely think this is worth a try and I hope to return the the Del Mar in the near future.

Amazing resort

I loved this resort. I read many different reviews, most were good but there were some negative reviews so i wasnt sure what to expect. I traveled with my 18yr old daughter so I hoped for the best. From the minute we arrived we were treated very well. We were greeted immediatley by our concierge, Tzinzini, she made sure that our dinner reservations were taken care of and was willing to take care of any issues that we may have. The entertainment team was awesome. They went out of their way to engage people in activities, they were fun and always had a smile on their face. The entertainment team starts their day during breakfast, they sit with guests and try to put a smile on everyones face. There was 1 negative, I specifically asked for a room with 2 double beds,I was guaranteed that I would have a double room, it was even on my travel document. Upon arriving, I was told that room types are not guaranteed and they gave me a room with 1 king size bed. as any parent knows, a teenage girl does not want to sleep in the bed with a parent. I was told that there were no doulbe beds left and these type of rooms are reserved for larger groups. This is unacceptable, I was guaranteed a certain type of room and paid for that type of room, as a guest, I should get what I paid for. This resort should replace their check in team, they knew that I was upset about this room situation and did nothing to make me feel better. with that being said, I accepted the room with the king bed because I was not going to let this ruin our vacation. Now back to the good, I just want to mention again how great the rest of the staff is, housekeeping, the wait staff, maintence, and I want to mention the entertainment team again. the resort has entertaining shows in the evening. The resort is really nice, well kept and clean. I would be willing to return but this resort needs to change their check in staff and they need to pay attention to the guaranteed room types. The air conditioner in the rooms are not cold enough. i think this is done to cionserve energy. This resort is good for families and couples. I dont recommend this result for younger people looking to party.

Tropical paradise

After reading so many reviews on here which were negative, I was pleasantly surprised with this resort.Check-in: for a large group of 20 people, check in was very smooth, 6 rooms in total, we were able to get 3 rooms right away ( 1.15pm)after an upgrade and the other 3 rooms were available closer to check in time of 3pm Joseph at the check in counter was fluid with the process, answering all our questions, made sure all 6 rooms were in the same block. We had asked for the 15 building, but were sold out..so got the 12 building, the 12 building is right near the pool entrance, which made it handyTip: Ask for Joseph at check inTip: try to get rooms, 12 to 15 building, if u want pool accessRooms: Clean and well maintained, we had double beds(2) and a sofa bed, plenty of space. Rooms have a safe, minibar, coffee maker and ironing board. Our rooms had a balcony with pool viewGrounds, clean and well lit. Remember this is a huge property, with the Lobby about the 20 building, walkways are well lit and maintained well. I can vouch for how hard the staff work, coz we saw the damage from Tropical Storm Franklin while we were there, and within 24 hrs, the place looked like nothing had occured there.Restaurants/Food: 4 large buffets, with one opening as early as 6. All restaurants had a pretty wide selection of food, breads, fruits, juices, coldcuts and cheese, omelette stations, pancake station and my favorite..the Mexican station. Tips: Try a different fruit juice each dayTips: The Huevos Rancheros are to die forTips: Mexican coffee is served at all the buffets: They take pride in their home grown beans. Best when had black with no cream or sugarTip: The drinking water is super clean, ask me, I did consume a half gallon a day from all the restaurantsPool: several pools with many swim up barsSalt water, easy on the eyes, There are plenty of pool side chairs and cabanasThe maintenance staff is already there after 5pm, cleaning up the poolTip: Come early and book your spotTip: Good selection of drinks at the swim up barTip: Plenty of shaded places throughout the pool areasBeach: Seaweeds washed up after the Tropical storm franklin, but the staff were busy cleaning it right away. Excellent beach chairs and cabanas. Water was cool and refreshing.Activities:We paid for snorkelling at the Dive Center( $44/- cash or $49/- card) per person. We snorkelled the day after the storm, so saw a few fish, but the experience was fun. A must do if its your first time. There are several events daily, we saw part of the rock concert: it was very goodWe missed the magic show, and the mexican cultural showThere is also a discotheque at the shopping mall which is open nightlyGym, is a short walk 5 to 10 mins from the hotelSpa: Some of the group used the spa services and rated them a 10 star. Pristine premises and top of the line massage services. They had a special going on..1 50 min session plus 1 30 min session for $175/- and you had a decent selection od spa treatments to chose from.Safety: Very safe, we did observe some minor altercations with some other customers, but nothing related to the hotel or its staff. The staff were attentive to any calls for help and responded right away.Check out: took about 5 mins in totalWe had the all inclusive plan, so didnt rack up much more in expensesWould I return: CertainlyWas it fun: Yes IndeedWas it worth the value: Sure wasRelaxing yesStress free yesAnd finally: I have to add, the Mexican hospitality is probably the best in the world. They just keep working and working and working just to make your stay comfortable.Tips: A little knowledge of spanish is helpful. The staff go out of their way to communicateThis is my 3rd trip to Mexico, and I will return. To Iberostar, Gracias por todos, Ustedes son los mejores
