Like living a dream!

The Iberostar Parisio Maya resort was like something out of a dream. This beautifully landscaped paradise made you feel like you were on a private island. The rooms were well appointed as well as fresh and clean. The friendly staff were at every corner ready to assist you. The resort offered tons of activities to keep you busy or if that wasn't your thing you could just relax at in one of the many swim up bars. This place has something for everyone. The beaches are simply breath taking! We couldn't ask for more. Our special thanks to Nestor & Arianna our concierges for making our trip extra special. They went above and beyond to make sure our stay was fantastic.

Return to Iberostar resort

I would rate this resort as a 3 1/2* but bumped up because of the great service we got from most of the staff. We stayed from August 7th to the 14th as we were originally booked at the Paraiso Lindo. When we were checking in, they offered us an upgrade to the Maya that we could not refuse. We chose Iberostar as we stayed at the Grand a few years ago and we had an amazing experience. However, this time, we were traveling with someone under 18 and the Grand wasn't an option. Also, after we booked, we were a little apprehensive going because of the reports of Alcohol poisoning and guests being drugged and assaulted at the Iberostar Mexico resorts. Maybe that's why we got a good upgrade deal... But those worries were unfounded. As others have stated this resort is huge and the layout is not straightforward. Expect to walk a lot. Our rooms were located in building 64 which was a fair walk to the beach but close to the various pools including the main one. We did not have any issues with the rooms as it was worth the upgrade from the Lindo. The only issue that we saw was that water would go on the bathroom floor after a shower but was easily prevented by putting the numerous towel that they provide you each day. Also, the rooms have sensors and power goes off if there's no movement in the room. The Maya had a nice beach that we were only able to use for the first couple of days as Tropical Storm Franklyn came and brought the dreaded seaweed again. After the storm, there were too many seaweed for the workers to clean up. There are many pools but the main pool is shared by guests from the Lindo and Maya. The pool bar gets extremely busy but there's the side bars around the pool where you can get drinks too. Also you won't get any quiet as you are surrounded by kids and drunken adults. The one thing I missed was sitting at the pool bar and smoking. You can't do that at the Maya. Also, make sure that you get the towel card from the Guest Service desk where you book your A La Carte restaurants. It's one towel per person. Now in regards to the food, I was disappointed on the choices offered at the Maya and Lindo. We loved the food at the Grand and we weren't expecting the same quality, but what we had was disappointing and a big step down. You won't go hungry as they give many options on the many buffet restaurants but none of the dishes were noteworthy. For breakfast, the egg and omelette station was good but things like bacon and sausages were either too salty or bland. The fruit selection for breakfast, lunch and dinner were good. The choices of meats and seafood were lacking for lunch and dinner. I did not have a quality fresh seafood at the buffet during my stay. It felt for example like the shrimp was previously frozen and thawed out. The a la carte restaurants were much better as we went to the Steakhouse (El Rancho), Mexican (El Tapatio) and the Italian (El Fogon). I like to highlight the great service that we got from Leti in Building 64 for cleaning our rooms, the pool bartenders: Pablo, Federico and Jonny and the buffet servers like Marco. Their hospitality and kindness towards us, was greatly appreciated. We had a good and memorable time but unless we return to the Grand, we'll look to another resort when we come back to Mexico.

Great stay for a group of families

Rooms were large and clean (family suite). There was a large variety of food but it was just OK. Most of the restaurants have a buffet component so there is always something to like. One in our group was gluten free and they took great care of her. Beach was beautiful. Shows seemed good but it was way too hot in the venue to stay for the entire show. This is a large resort with a lot going on. Pools were clean but a little too warm and you cannot see the beach from the pool area (mangrove swamp in between). It was sometimes difficult to determine what was going on in terms of scheduled events. The gym was great. The turtle release was a real highlight. Very good just not close to the best in our experience.

Amazing Resort for families with kids

We stayed in the resort 5 days (labor day weekend). Family of 4 with 2 little kids (ages 6 and 7). The resort is really spectacular. The grounds are so beautiful. We got the Junior Suite in building 64. We considered it was a good location since it was central to everything, specially to the Kids Club and the Water Park. We were offered an upgrade to a better suite with a 'view to the pool' but we really did not find worthy to just have a view of a pool and pay extra $300 for it. The junior suite is pretty spacious with a big bathroom, a little living room area with a sofa and other nice amenities like a mini fridge all stocked up with drinks that you can have at no cost. Then what my kids love the most was the Kids Club and the Water Park. To all the parents there with small kids I cannot advise you more than this Resort and having the peace of mind of leaving your kids at least for a couple of hours in the Kids Club and have a good deserved rest for yourselves... We are an extremely overprotective set of parents, we NEVER, have NEVER left our babies with anybody in our lives, and for the first time we gave it a try and what an amazing experience. Our kiddos actually didn't want to leave the Kids Club in the entire day. Because they have this menu of activities planned out for every single day with so many cool stuff that the kiddos love. Plus the young guys (boys and girls) that take care of the kiddos are so loving, fun and cool that it is impossible not to like them. So, for us it was such an awesome experience leaving our kids in this place that we felt they were going to be safe and having a blast like they did. Then, being a host of the Paraiso Maya allowed us to go to the SPA, and enjoyed the Sauna Rooms, different showers and therapeutic pools so you could really relax for a couple of hours, very nice place to relax and rest. We also enjoyed everyday the Beach. we hang out there for 2 to 3 hours every day. The beach is very nice, clean and with lots of chairs, we never encounter a problem trying to get a chair, water is clear and beach is shallow so you can feel safe letting your small kids play on it. We rented a jet sky for 30 min. and let our kiddos to experience for the first time riding a jet sky and they loved it (price for 30 min is $60) probably it was high but totally worthy every penny when you see the smiles and happiness of your kids riding it for the first time. The service is amazing, all the Resort staff is really out of this world. All the time offering you drinks, food, etc. whatever you need, they are always with a smile ready to assist. The resort got all kind of pools if you like to hang out more in the pools than in the beach (we are more beach-people), so, there are shallow pools to play with the little ones, pools mostly for adults with bars on it, pools to play sports, a wave pool (pretty cool), lazy river pool, and of course the Water Park for the kids that they adored. All the pools seem clean, with lots and lots of chairs to sit and leave your things safely. Restaurants are also nice. Nothing out of this world but nice. We tried a couple of the specialty restaurants and the food was good, again, nothing spectacular but very decent. We always had breakfast at La Marina and it was pretty nice. So many options to get for breakfast. They even have gluten free table. The WIFI service is excellent. You can get signal almost everywhere, even at the Beach you get WIFI, huge plus for us also... One thing I strongly recommend is to try to bring all you need, if you for example forgot to bring your swimsuit or a sunscreen, it will cost you an eye or an arm at the Resort 'stores', oh my God it is extremely expensive, I just get inside the store to check for prices and it is outrageous, a woman swimsuit was over $150!! a bottle of sunscreen over $40, a souvenir like a simple magnet that you know it really costs $1 or $2 is in that store over $10!!, so, please save your money and pack very good. Please don't forget to bring some mosquito repellent, I had to apply every day to my kiddos, because the mosquitos love them and I know it will cause big red marks all over their bodies, and a bottle of mosquito repellent will cost you in this resort store again a lot of money, I think like $15 or more!!. Overall this resort is strongly recommended for Families. If you have kids between 0 to 12 years old it is a guarantee they will have a blast!! But they also offer a lot of activities for older kids. If you don't like to hang out with kids, then this complex offer an only adult section called 'The Grand' which we looked at and looks also amazing. The entire Iberostar Paraiso Complex is really worthy all your money, you get a lot, a LOT of things and amenities for your pay stay. We will definitely be back.
