Our Opinion

Great resort for your money. This resort is better for those who are looking for an experience that is different from your usual all-inclusive getaway. The resort is located fairly far from its beach. Guests should be prepared to take a 10 minute shuttle to the resort beach (it is recommended that you leave early to get a nice spot). Great food options and attentive guest services.

Amazing place!

Went for a week, great place best food I’ve had down south. Clean rooms and comfortable bed however it’s a bit firm my spouse said I don’t mind it that way. Great beach didn’t have to wait long for the trolley carts. A few pools to choose from which is nice if you want the sports pool or the party pool or the quiet pool you can choose based on mood. We could always find a beach/pool chair. Also of wild life and large tree's it was very tropical. The premium booze was nice to have and the beer was ice Cold, which is a must for me. Great resort will defiantly return.

Great staff, Resort is getting really tired!

My wife and I take a trip each year together with no children and this year we chose the Sian Kaan. We did enjoy our trip very much and meet some really great people from around the world. We booked a room with a jungle Jacuzzi, which was excellent. The buildings are looking very dated and need much maintenance done to the exterior. The interior was very clean and well maintained. The A/C was cool enough for us. The mini fridge was cold and well stocked each day. My one complaint was that they would only stock them once per day and would not put more than 2 beers per person in them. Sometimes you just need a break from the draft beers and would like a few bottles of beer. We would have to save the beer in the fridge for at night when we got in the Jacuzzi.Trolleys are available to the beach and other resorts as well as the Hacienda. They come about every 5 minutes and are pretty reliable. Sometimes you have to wait longer depending on were you were going and what trolley came. The trolleys are marked with colors and where they are going. The beach was great for looking at a few fish. My wife is a little apprehensive about swimming in the ocean as she had a very bad experience a few years ago.. She has asked that we come back here with our children so she can snorkel again. She loved it here and I thought i would be great for our children as well.Restaurants were very good. We ate at a few while here and didn't have any complaints. Service was great.Entertainment was really good too. We enjoyed the games and workouts that they had at different times of the day. The shows were good too. We were usually too tired by that time of the day or back in the Jacuzzi. My favorite staff person who we meet on this trip was Randy at the lobby bar. He always had a smile on his face and nothing was to big of an issue for him. I never asked for anything too crazy but a lot of people do and he handled it with ease. Thank you Randy for just talking to us when you had a few minutes. It was nice to get to know you.All in all this is a nice resort. We have been to many in the Riviera and I cant say too much bad about it. I would recommend this resort for the price.

third and last time back

Went back last year for the third time. Found it very run down and not worth the money. The food was good and the people were very nice. Stayed for two weeks and were very glad to leave by the end of the vacation. Pools were very dirty, rooms very dark and damp just outdated. The bugs were out of control. went to the other hotels on the property and they too needed updating. On the positive side you can walk for miles on the beach. Would not go back

WORSE VACATION OF MY LIFE!!

Let me start with saying that I was so looking forward to this vacation to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday as well as our anniversary. The reason I choose this hotel was because I had visited their Coba Resort three years ago with my family and had an amazing time. Little did I know, this would be the vacation from HELL. I first want to explain the situation, the worst part of our trip was getting a stomach virus, First my boyfriend was sick for two days and right when he was recovering, I became sick. We missed four dinner reservations and stayed in our room, or more like the bathroom with constant vomiting and diarrhea, I have never experienced such terrible symptoms in my life. We strictly ate and drank only in our resort, the one excursion we took outside to the Mayan pyramids, we never ate anywhere and drank the water bottles from the hotel. Four out of our seven nights were spent sick inside the room taking care of one another, I was so disappointed and upset that I was sick on our anniversary which caused us to miss our activities and special dinner at night, it was devastating to pay this much money and say in a high class resort to become so sick. We came to one conclusion, it must have been the drinking water served in the restaurants and buffet. The morning before I was sick, my boyfriend noticed little things floating in the glass I was poured, the night before we went out to a seafood restaurant in Tulum or Akumal (forgot which one) and our first glass of water tasted fresh and crisp, while the second tasted like chlorine, we both made looks as soon as we sipped and ordered Coke instead. Do you know how the front desk treated our complaint? THEY DIDN'T, we spoke with two managers and neither wanted to do anything, except have us fill out an accident report, they literally couldn't even take our laundry to wash the day we were leaving as a courtesy. They said by proving any comps or services, they would be assuming guilt. We spent half of our vacation in the bathroom and these people didn't show a shred of sympathy of understanding. I will never stay at any of their resorts and make sure my family and friends avoid at all costs for their own health. I couldn't believe our trip turned to the worst and the hotel didn't want to do anything. I wrote a review to them after we got back, still haven't heard from them and it has been three weeks, I will be looking into other ways to communicate to get their attention. HOTEL PROPERTYI booked this hotel since its more secluded and adults only, the grounds were always kept clean and the hotel itself is very aesthetically pleasing. They have three pools, a few bars, two restaurants, and a buffet. OUR ROOMWe arrived to a beautifully decorated bed with rose petals and decorations for our anniversary, it was a nice touch, unfortunately the only one we felt during our stay. Since we were on the first floor, we had lots of insects getting inside the room, my boyfriend would wake up with bites all over, he started spraying bug spray all over his body all the time. Our balcony door wasn't properly secured, it would still open when locked, we needed to secure it with the second lock, but it looked like the wall on the side of the door was coming apart from constant force of opening/closing the door. Housekeeping was so-so, one day they were alright and the next we could come back to towels laying on the ground and no toilet paper. We would need to call several times to receive necessary items. Apparently we were supposed to have a butler, never saw him, don't know who he was, when I would call his extension, someone would just forward elsewhere. On the last day, I called to ask for chips, they brought one tiny bag when there are two of us in the room, I called back and they said its only one bag of chips per room. So after my long journey of battling a sickness, I can't even get an extra bag of chips???? Really?FOOD and DRINKSYou know by now how I feel about their water, DON'T DRINK IT!! Food in the buffet was almost the same every day, they barely would change anything. It was alright, nothing unique or special. Due to our sickness, we only made it to two restaurants. First one was the Japanese one at our hotel named Mikado, I believe? Our waiter was awesome and the food was alright, but it wasn't enough - when we asked to order more, we couldn't so we had to grab snacks later. Why am I paying for all-inclusive and leaving hungry? Another night we were to the seafood restaurant, Frutos Del Mar, their buffet for appetizers was probably the best part...unfortunately. We were only allowed to order either an appetizer or a soup and one entree. Our appetizer was lobster ravioli with literally just two ravoilos on a huge plate. Our dinner we had salmon with mashed potatoes, huge dish with a little food again. Nice waiter though! As for alcohol, their drinks are watered down, we stopped ordering after the second day because there was n point, it was the same as drinking a virgin. BEACHThe ONLY good part of my trip was the beach, you have a reserved part of the beach only for Sian Ka'an guests, which was always clean and well-maintained. We always found a hut with two chairs regardless of the time, no kids are allowed in the area so its nice and quiet. The activities were quite funny, I did Zumba with Judith, awesome instructor!I thought this would be a beautiful, romantic trip for us, but it was the vacation from hell. So sad!

Our yearly winter trip

We are heading back to this resort on sunday for 2 weeks! We LOVE this resort since its adult, quiet, fun, clean, and the staff are amazing! We've been going to the Bahia resorts since 2005 and return every year to our favorite beach spot! We've stayed at all 4 but the adult atmosphere is the best for us! We return like its home, never a problem with anything and we always relax and enjoy!
