Great resort for your money. This resort is better for those who are looking for an experience that is different from your usual all-inclusive getaway. The resort is located fairly far from its beach. Guests should be prepared to take a 10 minute shuttle to the resort beach (it is recommended that you leave early to get a nice spot). Great food options and attentive guest services.
Almost a perfect resort, the staff, the amenities, the beach area are all very nice. The problem for a none smoker is that resort seams to care mostly about smokers. In the main lobby, even if there is no ashtray on the tables, smoker are free to smoke and bother everybody that does not feel like smelling like an ashtray. All the outside sitting area is reserved for smokers.
My wife and I had our 2nd stay at Grand Bahia Principe Sian Ka’an in October 2016. We loved our first trip so much, this time we brought friends with us to share the experience. The staff made us feel so comfortable and pampered. Dana, Fabiola and Andres at the Privilege Club were awesome. They took care of all our needs. The food selection was amazing and the entertainment was so much fun. From Octoberfest to playing Water Polo, we always had something to do. Rigo and Simone kept us involved and up to date with scheduled activities. Our friends fell in love and we can’t wait to visit again. I know it is not easy managing a resort this size so kudos to the managers and staff for all the work they do.
from check in to check out , great customer service , great rooms , excellent food the buffet is the best I have ever had , I have been to over 30 all inclusive resorts , this is the one, that's why I am going back this week again for my 3rd time. There is no down side here , the staff is super friendly, helpful and will do as much as they can for you. My wife and I have never had to complain about anything here, Great selection of top shelf alcohol , the wines are decent , and as I said the food is great always a great selection of seafood. The shuttles run very regularly to take you to your private part of the beach , complete with waitress service or to anyone of the other 3 Bahia resorts, @ Sian Kaan you get the run of the entire complex. We even just grab a taxi to go to Play del Carmen , or even just to a local beach or cenote, The golf course is amazing - like I said by Caribbean standard this is a 5 star
I've been to this specific resort many times and keep coming back for a reason. I recommend this resort to my friends and acquaintances regularly. I'm a solo traveller and I find the staff to be lovely -- friendly, helpful and they genuinely appear to enjoy their jobs. The staff do not turn over often, so I assume they are well-treated by the company and that the working conditions are good. Every person working there will have a smile and a kind word for you, and will be knowledgeable and quick to assist. Specifically, Jasmin at the main bar is absolutely excellent; and Rigo at the pool/beach in recreation is fun and great at his job.The rooms are beautiful and well-maintained, as are the grounds. The resort is smaller than the other Bahia Principe resorts in the area, so you will recognize other travellers who are there at the same time. You will have access to the other three resorts when you are staying at Sian Ka'an, so there are many, many choices for places to eat as a result. The buffet at Sian Ka'an is superior to the others, in case anyone is wondering. The food is excellent. Everywhere you go on the resort, you are offered something to drink (or eat). The resort is across the road - about a 7 min trolley drive from the beach, but there are always chairs and umbrellas available at the special place reserved for Sian Ka'an. The staff working at the beach bar regularly serve drinks at your umbrella and are very attentive. There are a number of pools throughout the resort - some quiet, some a little more fun with games in the afternoon. You will not be bothered much by people walking the beach selling things and there are a good mix of most countries visiting the area. I usually notice many Canadians, a goodly number of Americans and Brits, and also a few Germans and Spanish people as well. There are no children at the resort and it is usually populated by mostly couples who want to relax and have a few beverages by the pool/beach. As a solo traveller, I am always welcomed both by the staff and by the other people staying at the resort. I meet many people who are quick to invite me to share a drink or a meal, and yet I am left to enjoy my holiday by myself. I usually go on one or two excursions and I find the hotel travel reps are helpful and that the day trips are enjoyable and adventurous. All in all, I highly recommend the resort! Staff is great; amenities and infrastructure are great; food and drinks are great. What more do you want in an all-inclusive resort holiday?
I am currently staying at saan kian Bahia principe with one week to go and having heard such positive reviews from family and sites alike, I have been incredibly let down. The restaurants are sublime and amazing - beautiful and unbelievably attentive staff, I have only positive reviews for the restaurants and their staff. I am humbled by their care and genuine kindness. However the resorts lobby staff have a lot of work to do in terms of customer service- it's shocking. The resources of staff in the resorts appear to be misdirected and utilised in the wrong areas - I have witnessed plants being dusted for example. However having upgraded to saan kian for its renowned service, I have been misdirected. Simple essentials - morning coffee in the saan kian lobby is often not prepared and available to guests at the reasonable time of 9am - how is that possible? I was met with fellow disgruntled guests forming a que at the lobby bar to request coffee - one girl, chatting on a personal call whilst ignoring the ever growing impatient guests. That is however a side issue entirely.I am utterly appalled that having spent 4 hours attending every ATMs in Bahia principe (saan kian, akumal, hacienda, hacienda square, coba or tulum) there is no available cash withdrawals on site this resort - explanation, they simply have not been filled. This poses quite a problem, particularly the issue of paying for our excursion commitments made to those local Mexican workers on the beaches of saan kian - that is unacceptable. The saan kian lobby management staff have declined to facilitate a solution, instead, we have raised our pressing issue only to have them wander off only to never return. Having to repeat and raise our issue with yet another unassuming member of staff who can't quite grasp our problem due to a communication barrier - these things happen. However, should not with those in senior positions of management - I feel completely let down and furious at the disregard shown. Furthermore, having had many a conversation with various staff, the solution eventually offered was to travel out of the resort, travel 20minutes away to the town of tullum. For a cash withdrawal.I am here for a wedding, Lucianna, the wedding planner is outstanding and a beautiful person to encounter; I feel blessed she arranged my mothers wedding. We had a medical emergency with a older member of the party and having waited anxiously for almost an hour, we received a telephone call from a doctor. During the wait time, there was no urgency whilst a man in his 50's grew greyer and immobile. I was shaken and question every stage of medical processes in place. A huge resort with so many locations should cover their health and safety processes with upmost attention and regulation. This begged many questions having been informed there is one available resort doctor. And finally, having had our wedding parties guests pay for saan kian residence to ensure we could "access all areas" to visit our family - as per the official websites advertising - it became apparent that this was not true. Having been refused water at the haciendas tequila bar and advised to leave as our green saan kian bands where not accepted, we left our family behind to resolve the issue at our sian kian lobby. Unfortaunatly, again, saan kians lobby staff disappointed again. A week, an entire 7days passed before sian kian management corrected their issue and we were reimbursed with gold bands which did ensure we could visit the rest of our wedding party at the hacienda area, just as their website states. Some of our guests where here for 7days, 2 weeks and some others 3 weeks - with this in mind, I feel they were incredibly slow in correcting their error which impacted so many guests.Overall, my experience at Bahia Principe - luxury sian kian has been largely, a disappointment and sadly, I would not return. To end, I am currently no further forward in accessing funds. I have family members offering to give me money to resolve the issue or to allow us travel into tullums to this bank machine however, this is Bahia's responsibility to ensure their guests have the faculties they advertise, they have failed. To ensure I am being completely truthful and transparent, I cannot stress the attentiveness of the restaurant, bars, buffet, buggy staff - they are unbelievably humbling. I have encountered some of the most amazing and beautiful people whilst here in Mexico, they truly have a beautiful culture, it really is a It's a shame those who manage this site/resort have let their staff down.
