Spectacular view with a few downsides

I’m going to start with this is our 8th all-inclusive trip (4 to Punta Cana and now 4 in Mexico). We always travel as a family, which includes our now 6 year old son. We booked through BookIt.com and had an amazing experience! BD travel was hands down our preferred facilitator over Apple and Delta vacations. I HIGHLY recommend them as all transfers were seamless!Pros:The view- this was the best view we’ve ever had!The service! This was by far, the best service we’ve ever received. I think it may be because most are on monthly contracts and are renewed by reviews, but they always made us feel special from check-in through check-out and everything in between. The entertainment team (I remember Leslie and hot Luigi in particular) were on point and ALWAYS there. Also, Eduardo and Orlando were our pool servers ..they were always kind and remembered our drinks even if we didn’t see them for a day or two!Room service- they had the most timely room service with the best quality of food we’ve had. Keep in mind, at that time of hour we’re typically ordering mac and cheese, but all were pleased! Preferred- We did upgrade to Preferred and found it most enjoyable (the room size as well as preferred club that we utilized multiple times a day). They had top shelf liquor you could pour yourself as well as snacks not everyone had access to.Dolphins-RIGHT next door is a marina that holds a dolphin encounter. I’m against seeing the animals caged, but my son loved the walk over seeing all of the lizards as well as seeing the dolphins up close. It was a nice surprise.Café- We stayed at a Dreams resort that also had a similar café but we enjoyed this café as well. I was able to get my ‘Starbucks’ like drinks here daily!Kids club- of all of the resorts, this was the only one I felt comfortable ‘leaving’ my son with someone else for an hour or so. He said it wasn’t bad but didn’t want to go back since he didn’t have any friends. However, I felt safe leaving him there which is HUGE for me. LOVED that they provided pagers to the parents!!Rafts- I like that rafts are included.. but because there are not a lot available, they get snatched from you quickly.Shows- we saw a fire show, a comedian, a magician and a Mexican show… all were GREAT (and family friendly). The couches in the theater were also extra comfy and a nice touch!Clean- the entire resort was up kept every well and CLEAN! Even the bathrooms by the pool and beach were always fresh which is a rarity. Cons:THE BUGS! Over the span of 9 days, I obtained roughly 20 ‘bites’ per leg. Grant it, my family didn’t fare as poorly as I did but everyone got eaten alive during the evenings. This prohibited us from allowing our son to do the ‘movie nights’ and ‘camping’ experience that he wanted to. I suggest taking LOTS of bug spray and/or repellant to wear. The buffet- Although the food they had was not bad, they have a huge lack of options compared to other resorts. I think this is due to the size of the resort but still, I was doing all I could to avoid the buffet by the end of the trip. Very disappointing. Family Friendly- although kids can go, I feel as though kids were not thought of in the planning of this resort. There is not a lot for children to do compared to the sister resort dreams or some others (play grounds, water slides, games, etc). The pool is deep everywhere and hard for the younger kids. Also, the spring breakers that were there were so obnoxious that we had to keep our kids as far away from the swim up bar as possible to not subject them to the vomiting and debauchery that ensued. This caused us to wake up at 6:30am daily to reserve our seats… otherwise we were out of luck. Also, we couldn’t use the preferred pool area with our son since it’s adults only… and that was HALF of the pool for the resort). This would be WONDERFUL if it was an adult only resort.. but for those of us families, it really limited us.Beach- what beach was there was minimal and rocky at best. We had to hike to get to a nice sandy area to swim but only did so once as the water was too rough most of our trip (not their fault). Was hoping to snorkel but was never calm enoughVIP- DON’T get suckered into talking to anyone from VIP. We were on day 5 of our 9 day vacation when a seemingly nice woman (I think her name was angela) approached. LONG story short, she suckered me into ‘meeting’ with her at 8 am the next morning. Needless to say, from too many mud slides the evening before I wasn’t feeling up to it. She called the room asking where I was. I told her I was feeling ill and couldn’t make it.. in return she stated “I don’t care! You made an appointment, you need to be here now!”.. so I hung up on her. The following day she found me again and I had to tell her to leave me alone. All in all, it was a great trip and I’m glad we went… but I wouldn’t go back with my little one.

30th birthday getaway!

So pleased with this resort! From the service to the food, to the rooms everything is fabulous! Felix the manager went above and beyond in taking care of us and completely exceeded our expectations and Blew us away with how they handled a situation we Brought up to management! I can not say enough great things about this place! Their hospitality and attentiveness was great! The food is awesome and everything is well kept and clean! It was my husbands 30th birthday and our 10 yr wedding anniversary, we mentioned that when we booked and they did multiple things to make it extra special from decorating our door to sending cake to our room! They also graced us with a 5 course private dinner by the ocean from carnival restaurant with our friends where Ezequiel and our waiter Jaime wined and dined us! It's still surreal and my only wish was that I could have stayed longer! Thank you Now Jade! I will be back and I'm bringing my friends!!!

Excellent stay, 2nd time there

Love this resort. Its clean, modern and very spacious. Everyone is very friendly and hospitable. Food was excellent. Restaurants were quick to get into.My only issue was that I didn't realize it was spring break, but we had rooms in the preferred area so it was nice and quiet. However, my kids, age 10 and 12 were not allowed to use the pool RIGHT IN FRONT of our room and that was very disappointing. The preferred pool is adults only and I should have checked this before booking preferred. We had to fight for chairs and pool time after a 10 min walk to the public pools, when there were plenty of chairs right in front of our room :( Many preferred items are not for children so if you have a family, don't book this side because you do a LOT of walking to the other end.

Amazing

Everything about this resort is top-notch. We especially appreciated all the wait staff (a special shout-out to Jesus at the buffet and Lorenzo at the pool bar). They all replied with an "its my pleasure". The a la cartes were all good (especially the Italian and Cin Cin). Lots of beach chairs at the pool and no fighting for a clean towel as they are already on the chairs first thing every morning. Comfortable bed. Free room safe. We stayed in building #1 on the fourth floor.CAUTION: Stay away from the V.I.P. Service staff (they all have V.I.P. service name tags). We were bombarded on arrival and the V.I.P. person would not leave us alone and would not take "no" for an answer. She refused to believe that we didn't travel with any credit cards or a debit card (which she said she just needed to look at for identification purposes but told us she would not record any credit card numbers). She wanted us to join her for a "special" 8:00 a.m. breakfast (which was us being accompanied by a V.I.P. Service person to the regular breakfast buffet). I initially signed up for the breakfast but when we knew it was only to "upgrade our room", we cancelled the morning of. After arguing with 3 different people about cancelling, they finally accepted that we were just not interested. The VIP rep tried to tell us that there is free long distance calling to Canada and the U.S. from our room. Not so - unless you are in the VIP section. Good thing that we saw the "long distance charges will be billed to your room" portion in the brown policy manual on the desk in our room.
