Excellent Vacation

We stayed for a week at the now jade and we’re extremely happy. The room was excellent, we had a family suite that had two adjoining rooms. Food was amazing and the staff were wonderful. Our four kids had a blast at explorers club with Ana, Paty, and Karen. They treated our kids so well! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this resort for any family.

can't go wrong

We were in building 2 - not too far away from things. Building 1 or even building 5 would be amazing I'm sure. We had jungle/tropical view (means you likely will not use your patio - bugs from the thick forest outside) but we didn't find this an issue - if we were spending time outside, it was at the pool or beach anyway, and the room has air conditioning and a ceiling fan.Beautiful facilities all around. Great food and drinks. And of course.. excellent service! Shout outs to Maximilien (bartender at the Splash swim-up pool bar), Enrique (server at Castaways - great spot to grab lunch), and Lourdes (server in the buffet restaurant). They all provided excellent service and were all positive people, very fun and friendly. And let's not forget the entertainment team, keeping us well amused - great job!If you have the opportunity to book a private table at Capers (Italian a la carte) for the fire show on a Sunday night by buying a bottle(s) of wine, do not hesitate to do so - it was seriously the highlight of our trip. Amazing.

stop looking, book now jade

pinched myself throughout the trip to make sure I wasn't dreaming, wanted for nothing the whole time there....our room was centrally located to all activities, cleaned impeccably every day, had a spacious sitting/Tv room, never felt cramped in the bathroom

An excellent value for adults for a short stay

My wife and I traveled to Now Jade, flying into CUN direct on Frontier. Having been to CUN many times, we were impressed how it had modernized over the years, and entrance into Mexico is dealt with in an efficient manner that leaves U.S. customs experience seeming purposefully slow and ponderous. The Mexican baggage claim is easy to get to, and the luggage arrived with little delay (no other flight was immediately arriving). There is a K9 unit that smells the carry on baggage, catching the occasional piece of fruit or Slim Jim that people forgot to eat or discard on the plane. We were pulled for a random baggage search which was non-confrontational and prompt.Scurried past the airport bedlam of vendors, and Amstar travel was there, had our reservation and we were off in about ten minutes waiting for others scheduled in the shared shuttle. 25 minutes at most road time and then into the resort. Rough road going in, but that is not used by guest unless they are doing the bike tour or walking to Puerto Morales, which would be a hike. As always, when five to ten couples show up, there is a bit of a wait to get your room. We purchased the basic room, but decided ahead we would upgrade to the preferred section (cost $385 for preferred junior suite for seven nights). That was an incredible room (building eight fourth floor) with an ocean front view though set back. The neighboring room was unfortunately populated with a young couple consisting of a young male who could not handle his drink, and was loud, noisy, moved furniture alot, and repeatedly would utter "Stone Cold Monster" or some nonsense. We did not complain despite it being very disruptive because the view from our room was so incredible. Apparently this couple damaged the room because the Preferred concierge found us on property the second day and informed us the room next to us would have considerable maintenance going on and offered to upgrade us to move. We were allowed to visit three rooms, including an ocean front, but selected room 6403 which has a view that would leave you breathless. Top floor (we always request this to avoid upstairs noise as well), and an outdoor jacuzzi that we enjoyed two night, but after that had trouble with the tub (no hot water and could not close the drain). We didn't report it because we would use it at night to look at the stars and wind down before sleep, and did not want change rooms. The preferred suite was nicer than the junior suite as was bigger and had pocket doors, as well as a balcony. No indoor tub for bathing though, but a very nice walk-in shower. Two vanities in open en suite, and another in the enclosed Jack and Jill toilet with bidet. No idea on how the bidet works, so no comment on that other than an innate fear of the unknown. The property is immaculate, and they have recycle bins conveniently placed. Immaculate as in no leaves, sand on walkways, cups/glasses/ashtrays laying about. Not real well lit at night but we were one of just a few walking about prior to sunrise. Beautiful, peaceful time to enjoy nature and one another. If you are with your spouse/companion, the preferred section will make this trip, otherwise it would be a bit of a chaotic scene. I appreciate those that travel with their children, but the energy, noise and activity (confined to the non-preferred section) would take the relaxation from the trip for me and my wife.Beach - beautiful, long, and the water is magnificient. Yes, there are rocks in the water fronting Now Jade but a short walk down the beach allows ready access, or the beach in the town of Puerto Morales is even more lovely but crowded. PM has that fine white sand such as on the beach at Clearwater Beach, Florida. Now Jade has seaweed coming in, not bad at all the first five days but then the last two it was heavier. The grounds crew does an exceptional job, and should be commended. There are activities, such as at most resort. There is morning yoga everyday, and other fitness classes. Sand volleyball, etc. We used the gym most days, it is clean, air conditioned, but a bit sparse. Dumbbells, a few benches, and a few pieces of machine, forget the brand. Several treadmills, tvs, and there is wifi throughout the resort. We unplugged, so cannot comment on that. Free calls to the U.S. from the room, which we used with an excellent connection.Dining - we ate at each restaurant - breakfast typically at the buffet, twice at the Preferred breakfast (French restaurant). Preferred breakfast is a la carte, and we had omelettes and I included the muesli, all excellent. Best coffee by far on resort is out of the preferred lounge machine. Coco Cafe is open 24 hours and has coffee, excellent service and a variety of pastries if you enjoy that. Unfortunately for those leaving on early flights or excursions, breakfast does not open till 7:00 I believe, so a protein free start unless you order a glass of milk at Coco Cafe.Breakfast at the buffet was good enough but perhaps the only meal we were not entirely satisfied with, but we are high protein eaters, and were able to get eggs fresh scrambled, often topped with smoked salmon or some meat offering (e.g. pulled pork, ground beef, etc). There are several yogurts, and people were mentioning how "gluten free friendly" the buffet and restaurants were.Lunch, I think we ate buffet every time, and we entirely pleased. In addition to the many offerings, the sushi counter accommodated my request for sashimi (if that is how you spell it) tuna and salmon.Dinner - Loved Cin Cin, ate there twice and had dessert every night there (the sundae with vanilla ice cream and a molten chocolate cake). Capers was nice, but lots of large groups, so perhaps the table settings and noise took away a bit from the ambiance. Spice was being renovated, so it was moved to Castaways (pool front restaurant) and not super impressed, but they were adapting to an unfamiliar location, so I give them a pass on that.Tamparind or whatever the Mexican restaurant is called. Strangely poor service, and the host/manager was, well, frenetic in his behavior. We were left with empty glasses most the night, did not receive any condiments (e.g. guacamole, pico de gallo, etc) with our main dish and they wanted to serve our entree on the chargers which we had never seen in a restaurant before. Food was mediocre because I ate mine dry and my wife kept waiting to catch the server's attention. Who knows what was going on but it was atypical of the rest of the resort.French restaurant, excellent food quality, small portions, and slow service on Sunday night. There is a large (as in two stories high) tv screen in the pavilion, with an outdoor bar, which was well populated as the NFL playoffs were going on. The lobby bar is where to go for a great drink though. Kudos to Leonardo. We made frequent use of the preferred lounge, which was immaculate, and stocked with a changing variety of savories, fruit, and warm appetizers. And that blessed coffee/cappucino/espresso machine.Maricela is the matron of the Preferred Lounge and would attend to any request. Very thankful for her. Some guests did abuse leaving their children unattended for prolonged periods at night several nights in a row. Well enough behaved children but it was intended to be an adult only lounge, and I think the unlimited club people are allowed to bring in their children ATTENDED. Again, kids did well for a couple hours, but they began to get antsy and one or two would grab the food bare-handed or try to crawl onto the couter to reach the soda.We did not use the spa, we decided to try the massage well down the beach by the yellow flag. Many people raved about the spa experience, but we decided to watch the expense after paying for the upgrade. If you travel as a couple, a must is to stay in the preferred section. The upper floors offer privacy that I suspect the lower floors do not have. The rooms are great (we had two double beds, not optimal but no complaints, though I will say the mattress was too soft for our backs based on what we are used to at home). Never turned on the tv. Did not order room service. Check out was a breeze at the preferred lounge, Amstar arrived on time, and we had no issue getting to the airport. Sadly, Frontier (who does not offer credit when they reduce their airfare, as opposed to other carriers), is located in terminal 4, and the VIP lounge is in Terminal 3, so we lost access to that perk that we have being Priorty Pass members.Realizing the management reads these reviews, let me conclude by complimenting the cleanliness of the grounds, and a few of the staff who we were most impressed by: Leonardo at the lobby bar, a very pleasant gentleman, Maricela at the preferred lounge, Paola at the Preferred lounge desk, Fernando - concierge at the Preferred Pool, and we had pleasant interaction with Saul and Adrian of the entertainment staff, Jonathon - bellman, and Francisco - wait staff at Cin Cin.Final word, beautiful and relaxing stay, I did not even mention the dolphins at the adjoining marina, or the nightly entertainment. We loved the stay, and considering how close it is to the airport, and the value, a great offering for a quick three to six night stay.
