Our Opinion

Formerly the NH Riviera Cancun, the Now Jade Riviera Cancun carries on this first class resort next to Puerto Morelos. Outstanding all the way around, from the accommodations to dining to activities. Set on a beautiful beach approximately half way between Cancun and Playa del Carmen, which is good if you plan on visiting both towns. Sister resort of the Now Sapphire.

Best Vacation, again !

My husband and I came here for our 6th year in a row! The first time was for our daughters wedding and we loved it so we have returned every year since. For the past few years we started upgrading to the preferred side. We enjoy the quiet of the pool, and can always find perfect chairs. We also tend to meet more people at this pool. We met people from Massachusetts, Canada, New York, who all hope to return next year. I have to say we socialize more on this side because we stay by the pool, we tended to sit by the beach more on the other sideThe place is kept immaculate and people are always working to achieve this.Our room was fantastic, we had an ocean front room that allowed us full view of pool, marina, beach. I watched the sunrise while enjoying my coffee daily! Our room was kept spotless, our mini fridge was well stocked!Everyone, who works there is friendly, and always goes the extra mile! I have to mention a few: Lorenzo and Cesar at pool bar , Edder and Jose the servers there. ( They took very good care of us especially our last day when it rained). Only day of rain in 6 years! Also want to mention the server Santos at the Mecure at breakfast and a big thank you to Aaron at Cin Cin. We met Aaron our first year when he worked at Castaway restaurant and he always remembers us and treats us very special.I'm sorry I can't remember any other names, but everyone is great. My birthday falls in April so there is always acknowledgement with a banner on the door. This year I had a small cake waiting one evening in our room, what a nice surprise! We already are planning for April of next year, can't wait. A special thank you for a great trip to Felix!

Dollars could be spent better elsewhere

This place seems to be a destination wedding setting as there were a lot of weddings during our stay which means a lot of early twenties young adults. The place is showing signs of wear and tear and neglect. Lot's of small things broken, needing attention that seem overlooked. Service is mediocre at best because there is not enough staff to accommodate the numbers. Food also is mediocre, lacks flavor and quality. We waited as long as 2 hours to get into one restaurant. There are only so many tables and people being on vacation tend to sit and chat after the meal is finished.Internet is not much better than dial-up and the cable TV was spotty while we were there.The place is clean and overall visually appealing. Pools are nice and well kept but during the busy season chairs become a commodity. Once you do have a staff person's attention, they are very attentive.We paid over $3000 for 5 days, two adjoining rooms. I thought it was high for what we got. I travel a lot and think I know travel dollar value. It's a typical "all inclusive" as their primary goal is to sell you a time share. We had a staff member assigned to us, as soon as I told him we had no interest in a time share he disappeared.So, if you do not mind waiting long times for mediocre food and service and are not concerned about details you might find this place acceptable.

First of many visits

This was our first trip to the Now Jade. We have a favorite resort in Cancun we've gone to 8 out of the last 10 years. Every time we've tried a different resort we've always gone back to our tried and true, this is the first time we've enjoyed a resort as much, or more than, our old faithful. The resort is only a short 20 minute-ish drive from the airport via private transfer - we used Canada Transfers. We've used them a few times now and never been disappointed. The check in was pretty smooth. Quite typical - the lovely waitress brought drinks while the person got us all checked in and tried to tell us enough about the resort and it's layout to get us going. Which was quite a feat since we'd been up since 7 am the day before. They put a deposit through on your credit card for anything you might charge to your room through the week but then take it off at the end of the week. The time share/VIP services folks are right there waiting to take you on a tour the second you get up out of the seat. They are pretty easy to get away from if you aren't interested though.The room was fabulous. We just had a Jr Suite with a garden view, the "entry level" room but it had a big comfy king size bed, step down sitting area then doors out to a nice size balcony. Double sinks in the bathroom with a walk in shower and seperate toilet area. Very nice. I loved the shelves under the sinks to store all your stuff so it's not all over the sink area all the time. They always kept the mini fridge stocked with water, pop and beer. There is a little coffee maker, but it doesn't hold a candle to the coffee from the Coco Cafe. Nice size closet with lots of shelves, the safe, hanging area for clothes, iron and board and even an unmbrella in case it rains. We had turn down service every night also, we'd come in for the night to find our bed turned down with chocolates and a newsletter with the following day's activities, events, birthdays, anniversaries, weddings and more listed. I always say I love going on vacation to unplug, but I loved the wifi. There is wifi in the rooms, the pool area, the restaurants and lobby areas. Pretty much the only time we didn't have wifi was when we were travelling from one area to the next. The connection was pretty good, it dropped a couple of times but not much. The resort has an app which is great for checking the weather and activities (which weren't always listed on the right day) and checking out the restaurants and menus for the evenings. There is a messaging system on the app but it didn't work well for me. I could receive messages but they wouldn't always send. So we just used FB Messenger mostly. We didn't try the calling feature on the app so I can't speak to how that worked. The a la carte restaurants were amazing. I've never been on a cruise but I think the food must have been comparable to that standard. I have a friend who once said the "food was so good it was disgusting". I know what she means. The food was so good that you just want to keep eating it and trying things even though you're full. We tried all the restaurants and enjoyed each one. It was a tough choice to choose just one to return to a second time. I could talk about each one seperately but it would just be repetitive. They were all very very good in every aspect - taste, presentation, service... One thing that impressed me was that at every restaurant they asked if you had any food allergies. We didn't, so I don't know if the next part of the conversation was "then you shouldn't eat here" or if it was a conversation on how to accomodate you. I suspect the latter. The Coco Cafe was great as well. So nice to get coffee early, watch the sun rise and then go in for breakfast. We had breakfast and lunch most days at the buffet. There was also a bbq poolside every day weather permitting. That was a nice option too. I liked the layout of the resort, for being a medium size resort it wasn't all spread out over a vast amount of space. All the restaurants are in one area as well as the shopping which was only a short walk from the rooms with the pools in the middle. I did find the pool lounger layout a bit tight. There wasn't much room to move your chair around, but a couple of spots had more wiggle room than others. The property itself was always immaculate. People were always cleaning up, working on the landscaping and keeping everything stocked.The beach was nice. A lot of seaweed in the mornings but the workers did a great job cleaning that up every day. You had to watch where you were going in the water, there were some pretty rocky spots.The shows at night were great! Very interesting and very talented folks put those on. They start early - between 8 and 830pm. We saw the Mexican show, Fire show, a Beatles show, a Breakdancing/BMX bike show, a Magic show.. We missed the Rock show and the Circus show, which I think were both pretty good. If those kinds of shows don't interest you, there is always something on the large screen in the outdoor side of the lobby bar. We did go into Puerto Morelos. It's not very far but it was too hot to walk so we spent $15USD each way on a cab for 6 people. The resort does a bike tour into PM. We also walked up the beach one morning to the dolphin park. They weren't performing but you can see them swimming around in their pens. Lots of iguanas sunning on the rocks along the way too.One thing about this resort and the compact pool situation is the kids. There were lots of kids. Sometimes they were a bit noisy, but mostly they were just having fun and pretty funny to watch. As always, it's the staff that can make the biggest impact on your vacation. And this place is no exception. We met some truly great people here and we will return because they made a good vacation great. I'm probably going to forget some because there were just so many of them. Jesus and Lourdes in the buffet made a great team always greeting us with warmth and a big smile (a great way to start every morning), Alvarto, Orlando and Alberto in the pool area kept a drink in our hands hardly ever walking past without checking in, Antonio in Cin Cin was so much fun and kept us laughing, Adrian and the entertainment staff...these guys were always ready to go the extra mile. They work so hard. We can't wait to return!

Amazing Attention to serving you by the entire staff

The attention that we received everywhere that we went made you feel like there was nothing else that the staff wanted to be doing. From the team at Breakfast, Alberto, Edgar and William to the team around the pool. Diego at the grill and Ceasar and Larenzo manning the bar and then Jose who would bring your drinks out to you. While tips are not mentioned, asked for or assumed, we left with almost no cash on us. Dinners were good too, Spice was out favorite. It might have been the great service we got from Daniel too. Great overall experience and we are already trying to figure out how to go back!

Lobby Bar

Just a few words for a certain person working at the Lobby Bar at this resort. His name is Francisco&alcohol is his game&the was super friendly. Anything we needed whether it was a drink water or ice he was ready&willing to accommodate with a smile. Sure helped make our trip enjoyable. Thks again mon ami
