Average rooms and poor food

The section of the hotel had a smell like sewage which was eventually covered up with air fresheners. Rooms avg but split level not suitable for for crawling kids. Service was good but only the Mexican food was good. Everything else was average at best. They spend a lot of time trying to sell you time shares and excursions.

Surprised - had a better experince than expected

Travelled with my son and a lot of other 18 year-olds and their respective parent for Spring Break. The resort is a well-done all-inclusive location. Do not even need to leave the property. Plenty of restaurants and bars as well as activities...tennis, basketball, spa(it is run seperately from the hotel - beware of "deals"), & beach activities. Adult pool nice way to get away from the teens with an awesome swim up bar. Worth it to do the upgrade! Rooms are larger suites with a living room, large bath area, two closets, balcony & refrigerator that gets stocked daily. Access to the club is great as well.

Great hotel, amazing staff... food ok

My partner and I stayed here early July 2017.It is a lovely hotel, with great facilities. We found a spa to be quite expensive but it was really luxurious. Soon as you arrive they give you a $100 discount voucher, or rather a leaflet to go and claim your voucher. You then go to reception, and they book you in to a sales presentation. This was the only negative part of the hotel stay. What was promised to be a 90 minute "talk" during breakfast, ended up being more than three hours of hard-core sales pitching. During our breakfast they asked us questions about our holidays and then after this took us to view their VIP area. You then enter into a room with loud vibrant music and they try to sell you holidays in advance. Under normal circumstances a simple no would do but the whole talk with three different people became slightly tiresome after a couple of hours. Anyway, we got our $100 voucher and use that towards the spa.The hotel has a gym which is quite well-equipped (not that we used it).The pool was always clean and never overcrowded, however there was a clear lack of sunbeds, which is a shame as there was plenty of space for them. The rooms are spacious and the cleaners are fantastic. They have a nightly turndown service, which we must've admit was a real luxury that we enjoyed. Because it is an all-inclusive resort, it was quite far away and insular. The hotel runs a shuttle bus for $17 return per adult into Cancun or playa Del Carmen. There is a taxi that can take you to and that worked out at $35 each way. They have an Avis car hire desk at the main entrance but we found that to be quite expensive. The buffet variation was fantastic and you could tell that all the food was fresh. They also had Tequila tasting classes, guacamole making classes and even winetasting, which was a lot of fun.The food at the restaurants was nice but we were quite disappointed with the steaks. You could tell that this was more about quantity rather than quality.Would we visit a new resort again? Yes we would. Would we recommend them? Yes we would.

Great Wedding, Great Resort - Feb 2017

In February of 2016 we had decided to test Now Jade for 10 days as our potential 2017 wedding destination. The resort passed with flying colours and we had an even better experience coming back in Feb of 2017 with 25 close family and friends. We are considering it again for a 2018 family/friend trip.FoodAll 5 specialty dinner restaurants (Spice, Cin Cin, Mercure, Capers and Tamarindo) feature excellent menus with a ton of selection, especially the Teppanyaki experience at Spice. All of their menus are available online to view ahead of time. Just make sure you read your newsletter daily to know which restaurant is closed that day and keep an eye out for special dining events!Pro tip for the hungry individual: Order 2 steaks (appears to be ~6oz filet) and more scallops (you get 2 with the appetizer) with your entrée at Mercure, but can order as many as you like, or even as a steak topper! - smaller portions for obvious reasons, but they are extremely accommodating and with a smile. This goes for all restaurants. The food at the buffet is the only thing I could do without (and did, for the most part). If you visit the buffet, I highly recommend sticking to the chef stations, where food is prepared fresh to order. The only place you are really forced to take in the buffet is breakfast, unless you upgrade your stay to take advantage of the a la carte Mercure breakfast (which is very nice). For lunch, take in Castaways and it's wide assortment of a la carte selections or the Barefoot Grill around the pool for a burger and fries, or some pico de gallo.Room Service is fantastic (24hr) and the chicken wings are great if you like Frank's Red Hot sauce, which everyone in our family appears to. The club sandwich is OK. Star of the show is the Coconut Shrimp and the accompanying pineapple sauce. Don't forget to ask for seis Coronas por favor. Unless you like the Modelo...ServiceI can't say enough good about the service everywhere. From top to bottom we had fantastic staff take care of us. A couple of special mentions that made our family stay that much more enjoyable:Jacqueline Magallenas (our wedding coordinator) was perfect. She took over last minute from 3 other coordinators (our first one went on maternity leave, so congratulations Pamela!) and gave us the perfect wedding.Moises (hospitality) who really elevated our experience as a family and has received a couple of shout-outs from family back in some early March/late February reviews. Stand-up individual and one of many reasons we're considering coming back in 2018.Additionally, a tip for quality housekeeping, food service, room service, bartending, entertainment, etc. goes a long way.Wedding PlanningThis started off great with Pamela. We went on-site to take a look and ended up changing our arrangement from a beach wedding to a Pergola ceremony, Mix Bar cocktail hour (right beside the pergola) and Castaways reception (very private because the pool is closed).Pamela had gotten quite a few details down and then went on maternity leave. We had some issues with a couple interim wedding coordinators that weren't very responsive, so we were quite worried, until Jacqueline stepped in.Jacqueline was very professional and kept on top of us to get all details and documentation solidified, including deadlines for vendors and everything. She was very accommodating and patient with us. I couldn't have asked for a better experience, once we had a great coordinator back in the picture.EntertainmentThere could be more music around the pool area. Sometimes there's nothing, which may be a preference thing. Also, love the activities, mainly beach volleyball. There's always something to do.Overall, fantastic resort with a fantastic team. Highly recommend this resort to anyone.

Had a great two weeks. Staff were amazing. Food great. Hotel spotless.

We took a lot of time choosing this hotel for our family holiday this year. Never having been to Cancun we were not sure what to expect. We had a great holiday. The hotel was great particularly the staff. We booked a Preferred Club Suite Ocean Front Double. The room was great, plenty big enough and the hotel put a extra bed in the room so that our two children did not have to share a double which worked very well. The view from the room was super. The room was well equipped with great toiletries, loads of towels and serviced every day to a very high standard with the mini bar topped up.We were worried about going all inclusive as we did it some years ago in Barbados and had a poor experience. The restaurants we tried were all good and the food first class. The Italien was our favourite. Even the buffet restaurant had a wide choice that changed so did not get boring even after two weeks. The breakfast buffet offered everything you could imagine including local dishes.Being a Preferred Club Guest was definitely worth the extra as the room had a great view and the lounge was lovely for a cool off with a snack and a drink. We did not use the Preferred pool as it is adults only but it was very relaxed and quiet with nice day beds. The main pool area was lively with music and activities but not rowdy. Our kids enjoyed it. Initially we thought that there would be a problem with loungers as they all seemed to have been reserved by people by 8:00am even though this is not officially allowed. We did always get a lounger or two when we wanted them even if not in our first choice spot.We did not go to much of the evening entertainment but the things we went to were OK.Our children are 11 and 14 they enjoyed the hotel. We did not use the kids club so cannot comment on that.During our stay we have a tropical storm that dumped tons of seaweed on the beach. All the hotel staff mucked in together and cleared the whole beach in a couple of days. It was a mammoth effort and very impressive. All in all we have a great holiday with the high points being the staff at Now Jade. There are lots of them and they are all friendly, helpful and cannot do enough for you.No low points really - for us Brits it was a bit strange getting to grips with the tipping. It soon became apparent that all the Americans routinely tip the bar staff, waiters in fact everybody. We did tip sometimes and it was appreciated but did not seem to make a big difference if we didn't. Room service food lacked a bit of sparkle compared to the restaurants but was fairly quick and hot when it arrived. Spa was expensive but good. We did not go to the sales presentation and did not feel pressure to go contrary to other reviewsWe only did two excursions and fishing trip and a boat trip to Isla Mujeres both were good.Well done Now Jade.
