Family vacation

This was our first trip out of the country as a family. We traveled with our two adult children ages 20 and 23. Everything was great. I would highly recommend the private transfer with Amstar. Definitely worth the money. The resort was beautiful. The food was wonderful. No reservation needed but if you want the Hibachi at the Japanese restaurant you may need one. The French restaurant was great, Carlos our server was wonderful. Alejandro at the Preferred pool bar was the best. We had a lot of rain while we were there and that was the only bad thing. The spa was wonderful too. The staff everywhere was wonderful. Would definitely return. Our boys were in there own room and I felt the resort was very safe.

We Will Be Back

4 hours from Chicago and we were in paradise. What made this trip was the employees - friendly & attentive. My favorite was the lobby bar - ocean breeze, music and the bartenders, Agustin and Candido.

Now Jade and Vacation Club don't mix

We visited this resort for the first time in Aug of last year. While the resort is nice with great places to eat, DO NOT BE FOOLED!! Now Jade Riviera Resorts has employees that come talk to you about Unlimited. Vacation Club and AMResorts. They will ask to sit with you during breakfast and hear them talk about future vacations. This seemingly small time period turns into SEVERAL hours and they will keep bringing different people to talk to you each time you decline all of the alleged savings. If you join, you will start getting sales calls with fast talking reps trying to suck your bank account dry with additional spend-before-you-enjoy offers. You will later discover that you cannot simply cancel, until you pay more money and they quickly attempt to dissuade you by stating any legal action is handled through the Dominican Republic jurisdiction. Since Now Jade Riviera is a part of and encourages such practices, they are getting this one star review.

Awesome Vacation

Very nice resort , great food , good entertainment ..... Awesome fire show !!! Had the deal of the day garden room , we loved it very very private ! The staff provided us excellent service . The beach and pool was outstanding . The moon was full so the waves were rough at first but died down . I will be visiting again .

Just what we needed

We have never taken a vacation as a family before (my daughter is 11), although my wife and I have done so once before. What we really wanted to do on this vacation was...nothing. No major excursions, no hassle with transportation, and no worries about dining, etc. well, we got exactly that. We had hired a shuttle through the hotel that was air conditioned, pleasant, and hassle free. Upon checking in, since we opted for a preferred room, we were directed toward the preferred area, and grabbed a quick bite, and a drink. We got checked in and were only briefly asked about attending a time share presentation, which we declined, and that was the last time anyone asked us during our week long stay. That was probably the only time we spent in the preferred area, but when I did have a couple requests, and spoke to the ladies at the front of that area, I felt like we were bothering them and weren't treated as well as I was in other parts of the hotel. With our daughter, we didn't spend any time at the preferred pool, and only ate one breakfast at the French restaurant, which was just OK. The buffet worked great for our mornings, and we spent most days set up at the pool, but split time with the ocean as far as swimming went. The restaurants were great, although we only went to the French, Mexican, and Italian places just once. We did 2 dinners at the Asian restaurant (one at the hibachi), and most other nights at the buffet. Lunch was at the poolside grill, outdoor buffet, or restaurant next to the pool, which was the best food and service (and gave us some shade). We did go to the dolphin excursion, and while it wasn't cheap, the memories we now have are worth the cost. We booked that, and a snorkel tour, through the vendor at the end of the beach. We haggled a bit and got some better prices. The snorkeling was good, but the waves were so big that it was tough for everyone to swim and stay together. Overall it was OK, despite the large amount of fish we saw.The highlight of the trip was the entertainment staff. David, Lorena, Happy Banana, Sexy Chocolate, Luis, and others I may have forgotten the names of, were all great, and worked so hard at keeping us all entertained during the day, and hosting fun programs at night. They especially kept my daughter entertained, as she was too old for the kids club group, and is an only child. They had her playing nearly every sport or game every day, and really treated her like a little sister. Overall, we had the vacation we wanted, and are planning to return next year. Maybe then we will do some other excursions.
