Our Opinion

A medium sized all inclusive resort in a good beach front location close to Playa del Carmen. At the Ocean Maya you will find great service, excellent food and lush grounds covered in tropical flowers and foliage. The beach is nice white sand but there is a barricade to protect from beach erosion, this may be removed in the future. One of the best 4 star values in Riviera Maya.

Anniversary Vacation

Great Place overall! Restruants were great! Get a Mayan Coffee while your there. Wait staff is incredible and bartenders put on a great show. Not a big night life, which I like! Downfall is that the pools close at 8:00pm, it's silly.

an amazing 2 weeks in paradise

This hotel complex is amazing; we stayed here, as a couple. It’s an adult only, on a perfect silky sand beach, in what I can only describe as reclaimed jungle, mango filed and very close to nature,We spent two weeks here in a ground floor room with terrace, everything you could wish for (we only had one problem hot water wasn’t working within 20 mins fixed, amazing) From reception to the rooms, from dinning room to bars you feel you’re in a better place; the staff can’t do enough for you, The guests are divided up into Brits, Americans and Canadians and each nationality makes themselves known, The food is amazing you can eat in the main buffet restaurant where the staff remember you and cook food to your individual liking, or you can fine dine either outdoors on the beach terrace on in the restaurant each is well worth a try, the Japanese restaurant was good but no where near as good as the othersGood long walks along the beach well worth a 20 min walk along the beach turn left and keep going for a swim in a clear water lagoon surrounded by beautiful fish,A walk out of the hotel along a winding road to the main entrance (about 15 mins walk) gives you good access to public transport which takes you into player del Carmen where everyone is so friendly. We went there three times bars (senior frogs worth a visit) food shopping great atmosphere you can spent hour here and we felt its safe at night. We had room service one night this was first class, evening entertainment was always very good and worth attending (eat early so your in the arena before 8.50pm or you wont get a good spot, the bar staff come to you to replenish your drinks which is a treat (not compulsary but $ tip them and they stay by your side)Once a week there is a foam pool party have a few drinks and get involved Close to Nature, as your in the jungle / Mango planes there is a lot of wildlife wild Deer, iguanas everywhere you look (harmless) other animals which are harmless

Very nice resort. Security was very good and made us feel very safe in the resort. All Staff members were nice and very helpful. Foods were great as well. A lot of activities are going on from mooring till night. Rooms are nice size and clean. Loved adults only resort. There was no kids screaming and running :)

Great vacation

Our family spent January 3rd though 10th here. 2 of us were walking with a cane. Noa came and pucked us up everytime we needed to go anywhere on the grounds. He is such a great guy! Also make time to get to know Alfredo in the main restaurant. He is a great person and wirks so your stay will be memorable. All the staff we met her were accommodating ECECPT THE JAPANESE RESTAURANT. Don't waist your time. When I let out wautress know my steak was not well done, she looked at me in a, do you really want me to take it back attitude. When she brought it back she literally tossed my plate in front of me and said,"WELL DONE" then walked away. Everyone except these people were very nice. Don't do the privilegeat the desk at check in. So not worth it! Also do not be trucked into listening to the ,"IT'S NOT A TIME SHARE" breakfast...unless you want to dump $10,000 into a time share! Lol. Again say hi to Noa and Alfredo for me. These are both great friends we made.

ABSOLUTE PARADISE!!! A Perfect Vacation!

My husband and I just returned last night from a 5 day vacation at this resort, and we had an absolutely incredible time! Everything here earns an A+! The service, food, accommodations, spa, activities...it was all PERFECT! We were blown away by it all. Our only regret is that we didn't have more time there. Next year we are making it a full week vacation for sure!To start, the check-in was lovely. They give you their signature Ocean Maya drink that was delicious and gets you in vacation mode. And they walk you through all the amenities, restaurants, and activities the resort has to offer. Our only thing that we didn't like (and it was a minor issue) was that they automatically book a "presentation" for you to sit through the next day at 8:30 am to "sell" you their Loyalty Program. We didn't really get the opportunity to say no to this. And we had no interest (more on that later). They then take you to your room. We asked when we arrived if there was any way to get an upgraded, and they did this for free! We got upgraded to a suite with our own outdoor whirlpool tub! SOOOOO lovely! My husband and I were tired from our travels so we just ordered some drinks and walked around the beautiful resort and took in all the amazing beauty of the beach and ocean. We decided to go to the Italian open-air restaurant on the beach the first night and it was INCREDIBLE! The food is excellent! It's comparable to a 4 or 5 star restaurant. We ordered the Salmon and it was soooooooo delicious that we actually ended up ordering it two more times during our stay there! Oscar at Il Dolce Vita was amazing and very sweet to us. We enjoyed him as our waiter. But the location of this restaurant really makes it memorable. You really can't beat eating a 5-star meal on the beach. YOU MUST GO TO THIS RESTAURANT! You will absolutely LOVE it!We woke up the next day and we were on our way to the breakfast buffet. And we saw the H10 person, Becky, who checked us in waiting for us. It was a bit awkward because she had signed us up for the "presentation" the day before. But we were not planning on going to it. She somewhat begged us to go to it. And we begrudgingly said yes. She walked us to the lobby where a gentleman greeted us and explained that we were going to get breakfast and then have a 90 minute presentation where he would be asking us "marketing questions". We really had no interest in wasting our vacation on that. So we declined. He was visibly upset and somewhat made us feel bad saying "Becky had not done a good job". Which was not true. We just weren't interested. Plain and simple. So we left. Becky came to find us in the buffet and tried to beg us again to do the presentation. We again, had to awkwardly decline. And then we were left alone. My ONE suggestion to this resort would be respectful of your guests when they say no. No means no. And a 90 minute presentation on the first sunny day of a guest's vacation is a TALL order! But we enjoyed all the beach and pool area had to offer this day just lounging in the hot sun. The swim up bar is super fun and there's a "party" atmosphere at this pool. Lots of games and a DJ playing music. There's also a more quiet pool, but there's not as much lounge space. We were kind of mad that people "reserve" their lounge chairs with towels and then we never even saw anyone use them. We felt the staff should remove these if they don't see anyone use the chair for an hour. But the beach had PLENTY of loungers and our favorite, the cabana beds! So comfy! So we really didn't have any issues finding a place to relax. The drinks are amazing! Loved the Pina Colada and Banana Mama! We always had fantastic service at the swim up bar! And La Hacienda had a fantastic buffet (more traditional Mexican fare) and grill area to have lunch (hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken wings, fries, etc). We devoured all the food and enjoyed all the drinks! We didn't have top shelf alcohol with our regular vacation package, but it was perfectly fine by us. They still had great liquors, beer, and wine to offer. We had no issue with any of the selection. For the next dinner we went to Blue Moon, and it was lovely. The service was impeccable. And the food was incredible! We especially enjoyed the Braised Short Rib (to die for!!!!). The only thing about this restaurant is it's a bit claustrophobic. No windows made for a dark and kind of closed in feeling. But we enjoyed the dinner and were able to walk straight into the entertainment in the patio area. Which we really enjoyed! The lobby bar is open 24/7! There's a party there every night! And it was so much fun for us to meet such great people from all over the world! We had a fantastic time having our night cap at this bar. Great people, great service, and great laughs! The following day we went to the spa. It was absolutely INCREDIBLE!!!!!! I can not stress this enough- they have the BEST masseuses in the world at this spa! Don't settle for a 50 minute massage, get an 80 minute one! You will not regret it! They find every single ache and pain and work it them out. I have never experienced a better massage in my life. And the facilities are lovely- the cold and hot tubs outside were lovely to relax in before our spa. And we also loved the saunas. Fantastic!!!We did not try the Japanese or Mexican restaurants. We had plenty of Mexican for lunch. And heard mixed reviews on the Japanese. So we went back two more times to Il Dolce Vita to enjoy the sound of the waves and the amazing service and food! We went on one excursion that was fantastic! The 3-in-1 Adventure Tour where you go ziplining, ATV riding, and cenote (natural sinkhole/cave type thing) swimming all in one! It was AWESOME!!!! Talk to Margarita at the Activities Booth by the pool to make your reservation! There's also other water-based activities, but the ocean was rough when we went so a lot of activities were cancelled. Would have loved to do snorkeling or scuba diving. NEXT TIME FOR SURE!!! So to summarize- our room was lovely and comfortable. The grounds of the hotel were spectacular! The beach was beautiful and relaxing. The pools were fantastic! Food was STELLAR!!! Drinks were great!! Service was impeccable! And the staff was wonderful! We could not have had a better vacation if we tried. We will FOR SURE be back next year! And we are so grateful to OMR for making our Mexican vacation absolutely perfect from start to finish! Thank you!!!!!!!!!! :)
