Our Opinion

The Paradisus la Perla is a great adults-only resort that boasts amazing views. Situated within the corners of Playa del Carmen's resort strip, the resort possesses some of the best views of the beach. There are also plenty of restaurant options available, staffed with attentive and helpful staff and serving one of a kind cuisine that is beyond the usual resort dining experience. There are plenty of swim-up suites available within the resort. This is a perfect destination for couples, weddings, and honeymoons.

Loved every minute of La Perla

This was my first all inclusive resort and it was fantastic! Everything about the resort is great, the food was great with a lot of choices, the facilities and atmosphere were excellent and very relaxing, we enjoyed our room a lot and the Royal Service was definitely worth the extra money. We were on our honeymoon and had the best trip ever thanks to Paradisus! Everyone was extremely friendly and we had pretty much 0 issues. A couple of very minor delays but nothing off putting and everything went pretty flawlessly on our trip. We would absolutely stay here again, I dream of being back there! The beach access was beautiful and we had pretty much an entire strip of the beach to ourselves. Our butler Alejandro was top notch too! And lastly, being on La Perla without all the kids was ridiculously great too. It was crazy on the La Esmerelda side some nights but La Perla was always calm and peaceful, it was REALLY nice. The only cons I think of: it's not exactly in the best part of town but I can't really say I saw a 'best part' of the town anywhere else in Playa. Just a 150 peso cab ride from 5th Avenue, location isn't the greatest but it wasn't bad by any means.Yhi Spa was excellent and got one of the best massages of my life there. It was not cheap though, $300 plus tips for two 80 minute massages. Not terrible and the ambiance was excellent, but certainly a little pricey. My only major gripe was the $1500 in rewards that we received upon check in, it was what cinched my reservation there in the first place. Not 1 single coupon provided any value to us, they were all along the lines of 'Spend $100, get $20 off' on premium alcohols or at the gift shop or whatever. Some of the coupons for activities around town (such as Delphinus/swimming with dolphins) were not nearly as good as the deals you could find online (example, I booked a couples dream swim at Delphinus for $270 online through a special deal. Normal price was $400 so if I would have used the coupons instead, total price would have been $350 for the two of us....obviously the online deal was better).

Fun trip, a few hiccups and a few home runs

We travelled to Paradisus with a very large group for a work trip. The trip was mostly pleasure and we had a great time hanging out at the pool and exploring town. We had a few negative experiences with restaurant reservations but I think it was mostly related to the size of our group and our desire to eat in larger parties. Now onto the high points. We hit the regular pool on day one and found the service a little slow and the water cold. 30 seconds after walking into the Royal Service pool area Alfredo had 4 chairs and was already busy rounding up drinks. He had everything ready before we could retrieve our better halves from the other pool. I can't say enough great things about Alfredo, not only did he provide incredible service to our large and rowdy group he had a smile ear-to-ear, a nickname for everyone in the group and enthusiasm for days.Hector, our butler and all of the other stuff in royal services did a great job but Alfredo's personality and service really made our trip. If you visit Paradisus make sure you opt for Royal services and go hang out by the pool with Alfredo, and his crew.

My best experience yet!

Amazing experience! The staff was incredibly friendly, the food was the best I've had at an all-inclusive (I've only been to three though), the grounds were beautiful. Nothing to complain about! We did the royal service. Still not sure if it's worth the money. The main benefit was the Royal Service pool and ocean view. Highly recommend!

Honeymoon

I must start out by saying that I have never done a review for something like this, but I read reviews of others before booking vacation and they helped emensly. I booked our vacation through Costco due to the fact that we got a free room upgrade by doing so. We stayed on the La Perla side. When we arrived they told me they were totally full, I had to remind them about my upgrade. I was upgraded from the junior suite to the one bedroom suite, room 1002, which I was told had two queen beds but when we got to the room they were full beds. I called the front desk and they sent someone down to push them together and make one bed, it turned out great. First I will start with the service......it was excellent. Housekeepers came twice a day and did a wonderful job. All the waiters were very friendly and if you tip them enough they give you wonderful service. Our first day at the pool we had Manuel and he made our trip. Every morning when we came to the pool we would watch for us and have our drinks at our chairs before we could sit down. If you go definitely look for Manuel. The food was descent for the most part. The food from room service is pretty bad and the cooks at the Market grill do not know how to cook a burger. La Palapa was my favorite restaurant but it's on the Royal service side so you need to make reservations for dinner. Most of the other restaurants were good, though some of the dishes I felt were a little weird. They don't tell you but you can order house wine at no charge. And last if you want a beach that you can swim this is not the place.
