Paradisus Playa Del Carmen Roulette
- What's Included
First time in Cancun area and really enjoyed this hotel. Beautiful hotel, nice beach, wonderful staff and LOVED our bathroom. Would definitely return with my family. Again, the staff were so friendly and went out of their way to make you have a nice time.
I felt the hotel was nice yet in my opinion was just too large. The views from the rooms were of wilderness and of the pool and not of the ocean as he had hoped. All the restaurants with the exception of the buffets required reservations making it difficult to plan your evenings. They did have an exceptional kids area with pools and activities for them, plus I felt the service by the staff was outstanding.
We loved the beautifully decorated Paradisus Playa del Carmen resort, and we appreciate the care and maintenance that goes into keeping a place this size super clean and in top notch shape for all guests to enjoy day in and day out! In my opinion, Melia has 'nailed it' with the size and layout of this resort. The staff was attentive at all establishments. We had a large group reaching 22 max on a few days, so it was quite a task to keep us all happy. I'd like to highlight 3 staff members who provided exceptional service to our group for the whole week: Carlos Lopez provided superb beach bar service, and we really enjoyed his company. Miguel provided beach concierge service day after day, ensuring we all had towels and lounge chairs - always with a smile on his face. Also, Carmen at South Avenue bar was a joy to have as our server on several days, and did all she could to keep us entertained. Our favorite dinner was at Bana's Hibachi grill and Sunrise Grill lunches were great too!
We recently went to this resort for a week with our grandchildren ages 4, 5, and 7. We had a great vacation at this resort and it certainly gets a 5 star rating from them. Our grandson 5 was won over as soon as we stepped into the lobby, they have extensive walkways in the centre of the lobby and lots of fish and turtles, we spent a lot of time in this area and he was really happy when Grampa found out he could ask for fish food in the lobby which made for great entertainment. We had a swim up room which was nice for the location and being on the ground floor but we did find the water cool for swimming. We have had several swim up rooms the past few years travelling and have only had a couple that you want to swim in as most of them are cold. We also found the pool cool as well until we upgraded to the family concierge and with that comes the heated pool which was well worth it. The pool area is surrounded by mangrove which provided a lot of entertainment for the kids, from the raccoon type animals to colourful birds and lizards, the kids were always looking for interesting species and it never disappointed. With the family concierge upgrade you also get the private lounge and restaurant beside the pool, The lounge always had drinks and snacks with a large assortment of candies which was also a huge hit with the kids. With the upgrade came the butler as well, and he was great, from leaving things in the room everyday from housecoats and slippers to sand toys, treasure hunts in the room with clues they had to follow to coming in the last night after a day at the beach the tub was full of bubbles and balloon animals including a huge octopus in the tub just adorable and I'm sure they will be talking about that for years to come. The beach was beautiful and nice for swimming. There was a rocky patch but we just moved over from that area and had no problems. The girls got their hair braided on the beach which was great and a lot cheaper than if we had of gone to the spa in the resort. We even took them back for a freshen up before we came home. We never thought we would drop them off at a kids club while on holidays but we checked it out and they loved it, in fact one day we went to pick them up a couple of times and they weren't ready so we took the opportunity to check out the La Perla side which was adults only. Was very nice we sat at the pool bar had a couple of drinks and they had a live band playing pool side, it was very relaxing. The kids zone was really busy at dinner time a lot of people would drop them off and then go for dinner. We didn't do that but thought that was a great option if you wanted to go to the adults only restaurants or any of the other restaurants for that matter. The kids zone was open from 9 am to 10 pm. We didn't get to all of the restaurants but the ones we did go to the food was very good and good selections for the kids. The resort was spotless and staff was very accommodating and friendly. We would defiantly go back and we would do the upgrade to family concierge for sure, we always do the upgrade for our own holidays but will do the upgrades when travelling with the kids as well from now on. We are lucky to be able to spend this time with our grandchildren and staying at resorts like this will certainly give us all great memories for years to come.
The hotel is beautiful, the food is delicious, lots of options and variety to choose from. The people that work there are really nice, helpful and resourceful. Would like to mention especially the attention of Alan Santos the concierge at the hotel. He was very helpful in making our stay very special.
