DAY 1 OF 7

Hello !This is our 4th year to a 5 star adults only all incl. resort and we did our bit of research before choosing this resort. I'll share a daily update on things and hope it will be helpful to others.DAY 1 OF 7: I believe in first impression but when we went to the lobby for checkin in we were asked to fill in information that we had already shared (address and contacts). Then we're asked for city environmental fees (Not much $7). I think these are so.ethibg that they could have included earlier for a seamless checkin process.Despite our earlier requests (email and thru travel agent) there was no anniversary specials for us. We headed to our room and found a very distinctive damp & murky smell. The room was hot so we turned on the Air conditioning. After an hour found it was not cooling so had a technician come fix it. After a while the technician gave up and I went to the concierge for help. They proposed 2 new rooms (2300s) and both were hot. These were close to pool where activities are held and I could hear slight noise with Windows closed. The concierge then asked another technician to take a look and it has been 40 minutes and they are still working. It does not feel like I'm here for a vacation.Minor things: The mini fridge was not on and all the drinks were hot. Someone had drank half bottle of water (not replaced). There was no bottles of liquor which they mentioned will be in the room.I still have hope and wish tomorrow will be a new day. I'll keep everyone updated on what level of service you can expect here.Room 4226Checkin: Dec 10th (7 days)Day 1:

Anniversary celebration

This is a beautiful resort. Clean and well staffed. Food is great. Rooms are lovely. Totally chill feel. Not crowded. Service is exceptional. Nice variety and love that you don’t have too book in advance for ala cartel restaurants. Service on the beach.

We Would Return

My wife and I stayed at the at the Yucatán for 10 days from 11/28/2017-12/8/2017. We agree with other reviewers that the beach is not good at all. And for an all inclusive,to get 2 beers and 3 bottles of water in the mini bar and ask for more they want to charge you is laughable. Our Swim up in building 5 was great and kept clean and supplied with plenty of towels. All employees We came in contact with couldn’t do enough for you. We would like to single out 2 employees that go out of their way to make sure you are happy, Ruben waiter at the breakfast buffet, and Hector the pasta chef also at the buffet.

Amazing ! I will return for sure !

I just loved this hotel ! We had a pool access room which i absolutely loved ! It is wonderful to get up in the morning and have your own private pool and sun ! I also loved the food in this hotel, i ate an amazing beef, lobster, calamari, all kinds of fresh fish for lunch and dinner. The breakfast was also very good.I totally recommend this hotel !The only thing that I DON’T recommend is the hotel store which is very very expensive. It is more expensive than the airport :)

Solid 4 star

This will be a bit lengthy but wanted to give an overall experience of the Resort,This is the 3rd time we have been to this area and tried this resort for the first time. Based on the different areas, I will give you the pros and cons.FRONT DESKPro - first night there, our room (review later) was not as quiet as we expected. We went to the front desk and asked for a quieter room. I would like to thank Karla for all her hard work and perseverance to get us a room that was indeed more quiet and helped the visitors staying past their check out time an excellent way of getting out of the room quickly. She is an incredible asset to the organization. Her people skills are 5 starCon - upon arrival, unlike the rest of the guests checking in, did not receive a welcome drink. We were rushed through checkin and didn't feel that we had the option to ask questions. Also several times, they ran out of US dollars requiring several trips back. Minor but just a commentROOMPro - the platinum rooms (the cheaper options) are just as good as the deluxe. While you don't get the one free spa treatment, there really isn't a marked difference to me except being closer to the beach. If you want quiet, try to get second or third block away from the main pool and if in second block, try to get near the mayan spa. SO quiet. That was our second room. The room is spacious and while the temp does not go below 22C, it is very comfortable. ConsDO NOT GET ROOM 2001. It was right by the corridor between block 2 and 3 and at night, anyone walking with heels it sounds like they are walking through your room. The lights for the outside balconies come on at 6 p and shut off at 630a. The blackout curtains are not sufficient to block out the light. There is no on/off switch. Also watch out for the patio. My husband broke his toe while on the patio. The part closest to the room is tile and gets extremely slippery while the part closest to the pool is concrete. One foot on the slippery while going back to the room, he slipped and his toe caught the lip between the two different parts.POOLProNot party people so the walkout pools are great. Again we were right by the Mayan spa so it was little more shady and the water more "refreshing" but as soon as you get in, gorgeous! Be brave! And bring dollar store inflatables. We paid the $10 each for inflatable rubber tires at the gift shop but talking to others, they brought down their own and paid much less.ConsWhile we didn't experience it, we saw 2 medical for those who had cut their toes/knees in the pool. We noticed that there is no caulking between the tiles so that may be a reason for the amount of tiles that came loose. FOODProsWatch out for Caribbean night. Lobster tails but you will have to wait in line but well worth it. We were at the buffet for most of the meals and the food is decent. Had amazing chicken wings one day. Was really sad not to have them again in the 7 days we were thereBreakfasts are typically the same menu but the lunches and dinners varied that you were not stuck with the same food.ConsHad better steak at the buffet than the ala carte steak place. Buffet sometimes had wrong labels for food or the trays were empty and not filled very fast. Was stressed a little as I only brought 2 sets of shoes. My sandals and runners and the signs clearly said no sandals for women at the ala carte but I was ok. They also said long pants and no sandals for men but saw several men wearing socks with their sandals and in shorts.SERVICEProRight off the bat when you go to the buffet, sit in the section that had Bryan and Samuel. They were the best. They remembered that I only drank decaf. They took a lot of pride in their work and it showed that their section was always filled while others were not. These two are another asset to the organization.ConsWell this is the reason why i reduced my rating from 4.5 to 4. The servers are not exactly what I enjoyed about this trip. One of the "perks" is a server who comes around all the walk out pool rooms and other areas around the pools to ask if you want drinks. We would be lucky if we saw one every 2 hours. We ended up most often leaving our room and getting our own drinks and coming back.We had brought our own cups and were refused by the server to take it back to the bar and get our drinks in it. Also they weren't good at remembering our drinks and on several occasions where we DID ask for a drink, the often forgot one of ours and only brought one. Also caught them dumping the drinks into the gardens if people left before they returned with the drink order. (Often the timing between ordering and receiving was 30 minutes)We have stayed at other resorts where the staff took time (like Bryan noted above) to learn your names and be familiar. This resort I felt like a burden and bother to most of the servers.CLEANINGPROWell, this is where this resort hit it out of the park. We saw our new room being cleaned (they had no idea we were watching from another area of the back area) and they move everything to sweep (couches/stands) and dust the top of everything. In the common areas they even turn over the couches and turn them over and clean. They are always cleaning. So well done.SPORTS PARKCONWe went to check out the "running" path and it's not maintained. A lot of mossy areas that were quite slippery. If you were running, you would surely fall.GYMProDecent. Has treadmills, elliptical and stationary bikes. Free weights and machinesConsnone of the treadmill screens work and the trainers seem more interested in their muscles than interacting with the guests. Smaller than some of the other gyms that i have had at other resorts but it was sufficientOTHER RESORTOnly did a quick walk through so really can't comment on it.Overall, a solid 4 star. May be back, may not. Enjoyed my week but I have been spoiled by other resorts.
