very nice resort good value

Stayed for 5 days in March.Resort was very clean service was great. All rooms are suites and are very nice and clean.Staff is very friendly.Bars and restaurants were very good overall. No reservations are needed at restaurants unless you go to japanese cooking show.Longest wait to get in any restaurant was 25 minutes.Drinks at bars were very good with great selection of quality brands.Only fault we found of resort was beach.we spend almost everyday at beach (we do not like pools)swimming all day in ocean.Swimming in ocean here is hard because it is loaded with rocks. There is a sort of sandy part at the resort next door that you can use.Overall resort is very nice and a good value for what you get,It is really too bad about rock situation on beach.Bring your water shoes if you plan on swimming in ocean.Would probably return again if price was right.

Fabulous Vacation!!!

Great vacation!! Great food and even the buffet was good. Lobster night is Thursday, but go early. All other restaurants high quality and very good. House wines were really good. Didn't need to spend extra to get a good bottle of wine. Beach was great for walking. Seaweed but they are continually cleaning it up. Was no problem. A little rocky getting into the water so you may want water shoes. Good food for lunch at the restaurant on the beach. Swim up bar was a blast and always something to do. Foam party on Saturday was incredible!! Rooms were very large and comfortable. Highly recommend the swim up suites. It was great going for a swim before bed. It was nice being able to use the facilities beside us at the Sunset Princess and Riviera Princess. Spa was great. Got a coupon when we first got there and was worth it. Coffee bar in lobby was really nice in the mornings. Beautiful resort and we will be going back again.

Excellent 14 day vacation, highlighted by great service and plenty of relaxing (February 13th - 27th)

Lengthy review - sorry! I want to try and recognize those that made our vacation such a great time (there were many, but I didn't get everyone's name)This was our 4th time at the overall Princess property, but first time at the Adults Only Platinum Yucatan. Our previous 3 stays were next door at the Grand Riviera Princess, Platinum building. We were looking once again to book at GRP but as we were booking less than 1 week in advance what we were looking for (either Platinum or Villas) were not available. Therefore we decided to book a Honeymoon swim-out at the Platinum Yucatan and are really happy with that decision! We arrived on the evening of February 13th and we were checked in by Karla at the Platinum lobby. Karla is an exceptional asset to the resort. Yes, its her job to deliver top notch service for sure, but you could tell that Karla did this effortlessly and genuinely. Her hospitality felt genuine which really got our vacation off to a great start. Once checked in, the bell boy Julio grabbed our luggage and led the way to our room. Julio was great. He offered information on the resort, told us about some of the dining venues, lobby bar and a few other things. Once again, it was great to encounter someone that genuinely does their job. Thanks Julio! Our purpose when we go on vacation is not to be busy. I know people that enjoy having excursions or being part of activities non stop during their holiday, but for us its all about laying out in the sun and just relaxing. We have found that at the Princess Resorts there really is something for everyone. So for us, being at the quieter pool of building 5 was excellent, but had we wanted to be busy we could see there was plenty going on around the resort for those that wanted to.Room - Swim-out Honeymoon suite, 5036. We really liked this location as it was an end unit (closest to the pool bar) so we only had 1 neighbor. The room was very spacious and we liked the layout. It had everything we needed. I feel terrible about this, but I am writing this review several weeks after returning and have lost the name of the gentleman that looked after and cleaned our room during our entire stay. He did an excellent job, was always friendly and since we were usually out on the patio when he would come to clean he would always ask if it were OK for him to clean. Just completely respectful of our privacy, etc.I know a lot of people are interested in the sun position for the swim-outs. For the swim-out honeymoon suites (6 of them I think) we would have the full sun until 2:30 pm or 3:00 pm. For us this was perfect, we would be out early in the morning so basically get a solid 6 or 7 hours of sun. After that we'd be pretty much wiped out and would welcome the shade anyhow. The shade didn't reach the chairs across from our room until after 4:00 pm I think, and if you move a bit you can get it longer than that.Restaurants - We loved not requiring to have reservations for dinner. We don't eat too much or at all really during the day normally so we could head to any of the restaurants around 6:30 pm and get right in. We ate every dinner at the a-la-carte's and only tried the buffet on the last day at lunch. The buffet looked to have plenty of options. We enjoyed a couple of very nice meals at Aroma but we mostly ate at the Italian restaurant over the 14 days. We never made it over to the steak restaurant because we enjoyed the Italian so much. I have heard people complain about the portions sometimes. The portions aren't huge, but they're probably the size portion of food we are supposed to be consuming. Anyway, they don't restrict you on what you can order or even how much to my knowledge so if you want more I am sure you can order extra. We never left dinner hungry at all! Anyway I should make mention of the following servers who provided us with great service on a number of occasions: Enrique (Aroma); Egidio, Abelino, Nahi, Marco and Miguel (all from the Italian). Thanks for the great service and banter! We did eat at Skylight which is the restaurant that has an additional cost. We enjoyed our meal and it was nice and private for my better half's birthday. You're mostly paying for the ambiance at Skylight and a more upscale menu of course. The night we were there, probably only 5 or 6 tables were occupied with just one waiter to serve, along with the manager and hostess. We had Valentin as our waiter - friendly, funny and running all night. Thanks Valentin!Dinner at Skylight was arranged for us by Ilse, the Hostess. We had booked a number of days in advance but she remembered we were celebrating a birthday. When we returned to our room later that evening we received a knock at the door. On the other side was a gentleman with a birthday cake. We later were able to confirm that this was sent by Ilse. Thanks Ilse, touches like that are what made this vacation what it was.Plaza Bar - Nightly after dinner we would sit and just people watch and take in the entertainment at the Plaza Bar. On most nights we were taken care of by Wige. Let me tell you, that girl can carry those drinks around and she was quick too. We looked forward to seeing Wige each evening and of course she remembers your drinks so usually it would be on its way when she saw us coming. Great personality and another asset to the resort. Elsa was another server we had who was pleasant and quick with our drinks. Pool Butler - Maria, the pool butler at building 5 would start most days with a big hello to me from across the pool. She hustles to get everyone there drinks. On her days off she was covered by Alejandro who made sure people were getting their drinks quickly as well, Nicely done to the both of them!As I said previously we really like to be low key when we take our vacation aside from a couple of quick trips into town usually. We decided this year we would try Xplor Fuego because it was at night and would not complete with our time in the sun. On the night before we went looking to buy water shoes from the Hotel Shops but they didn't have our sizes. Alejandra, one of the shops sales associates went above and beyond. She contacted one of the shops at GRP or GSP and had them brought over for us for the next morning. Exceptional service Alejandra! I was really happy with all the sales associates that we encountered at the Hotel Shops. We were more than happy to spend our money in there on everything from chips to pool floats and souvenirs (daily haha!)Photos - Viola and Nat! You girls are great, we appreciate the time you took with us and the laughs. Once again, great service by genuinely friendly and fun staff.Spa - Great relaxing massage. We're fine with the Spa pricing, seems in line with other resorts and cruise ships. It was good value for me.So for us, couple in mid to late 30's, no kids, this vacation probably could not have gone any better. Over the last 10 years we've been to well over 50 different countries and travel extensively for work. We've never been disappointed staying at the Princess property in Riviera Maya. We don't have huge and unmanageable expectations but are certain of the type of vacation we want and we continue to get that when we go here. We hear people complain about things and I am pretty sure its just for the sake of complaining. We don't look to get things for free as we are aware others do unfortunately and we also tend to take things in stride. Sometimes "stuff" happens and usually if you approach someone for help and do so with respect, you'll find there's an easy solution and it will be taken care of.We look forward to returning to this resort again before the end of 2017!

Fantastic stay - definitely recommend this resort!

We stayed March 10 - 18. Check in was easy. We were early for check in, so we were able to get a bite for lunch and drinks before the staff came to find us to check us in at 3:00. We opted for a platinum swim-out and were in building 5. It was perfect! Top-shelf liquor, champagne and fruit waiting for us. I would definitely recommend asking for building 5, rooms 5025 - 5033 if you want quieter, private swim-out areas with sun all day. Biggest surprise was a couple that opted to go topless and nude for swims in the evening. Caught us a bit off guard as that took adult resort to an unexpected level. Bar servers came around to our pool area regularly throughout the day (shout out to Alejandro and Jacinto for excellent bar service). Room service was excellent and prompt. We were able to order both menu and off-menu items for room service. We enjoyed a caraffe of coffee on our terrace each morning and the nachos are excellent! There are coati that come to visit (they look like a cross between raccoon and anteater with long monkey tails), so don't leave food out on the terrace. One little guy ate off my lap and would have come into the room if the screen door had been open. The food and service at the buffet was excellent. Brian was our server every morning and did a great job. The food at Tao and Bruschetta was great, but be warned that the Chicken Parmesan is NOT what the rest of the world thinks of as chicken parm. Read the food descriptions carefully before ordering. We did not like the Rodeo Grill much as service was extremely slow and portions were tiny (the steak was good but came with one baby potato only). Pros:- friendliest servers, staff- towels were replaced in our room twice a day- room cleaners left different towel animals each day with flowers and flower petals on the bed and throughout room (very nice touch)- able to smoke on terraces (bonus if you are a smoker)- top-shelf liquor service right to terrace in swim outs- food is good (not great at Rodeo)- wildlife (coati, iguanas, raccoons, lizards, resort cats)- entertainment each night- fantastic coffee - party pools or nice, quiet, peaceful pools, all with bar serviceCons:- prices in the resort 'convenience' store are ridiculous ($24 American for a small bottle of Aloe, $14 American for a small container of Tums)- Food at the Rodeo- Possibility of people swimming in the nude- Some things in our room did not work (alarm clock/iPod dock was broken, ironing board would not go down after use)We would definitely go back and recommend this resort!
