Almost perfect!

The staff was very friendly and accommodating, from check in to check out! Our room was beautiful and had a large, walk in shower with two rain shower heads and a claw foot tub in the main room and the room was kept spotless! Floors were mopped daily and mini fridge was stocked daily with bottled water, soda and beer, all included. We were about a minute from the gym, which I used during the rain. There were five restaurants on property. We tried 3 and they were very good! It was just a short walk from our room to that beautiful beach and we passed several pools on the way, one with a swim up bar! We could see an island and some of the cruise ships from our beach chair. And it was amazing to have a waitress on the beach, that brought you drinks! We very much enjoyed the activities offered, including the free nightly shows. It rained two of our five days there, but the staff had games, with prizes, under a large plaza, so we had something to do. My husband even won a prize in the guacamole class! I took two of their zumba classes during the week and really enjoyed them. We also went to one of the sister resorts, which is within walking distance and they also offer about five restaurants and great free nightly shows. The on site souvenir shops were pretty pricey, but we took a shuttle to 5th Avenue and if you can get passed the high pressure salesman, you can get some great deals there! The shuttle is a great service offered by the resort and it is much cheaper than taking a taxi. It will take you to the sister resorts for free. Also, the concierge was definitely our friend. He booked our dinner reservations (yes, even though it's an all inclusive resort, some of the restaurants book up quickly and you have to book two days in advance) and gave us some great tips. Our only complaint was that the no smoking rule was not enforced. Hope that changes soon. Also, we were very careful to only drink bottled water and even used it to brush our teeth and thankfully, bottled water was provided for free all around the resort. Overall great experience and hope to go again!

Beautiful Resort

My aldult children and I stayed at the Platinum Yucatán in February for a 7-day stay. The resort grounds are immaculate, staff very friendly and the food was excellent. The beach had a funny smell at times (should not reflect the rating) in my opinion. We could walk and walk the beach, lots of day activities. Enjoyed the small shops located on the resort and the weekly market. Overall, it was a very nice spot to visit and I would recommend the resort.

3rd time's a...disappointment

We came here for our 3rd time from April 15 - April 23 of 2017..we had previously been here in April and September of 2015. This was our first vacation since the latter so we were EXTREMELY excited to be coming back to our favorite place in the world! Well, the room was a little more worn down than our other stays (we never stayed in the same room, but just sayin') which is fine, it happens. not worthy of writing a review about.the first thing that was annoying was that we had dinner at one of the sit down restaurants, and the waiter completely forgot about us to the point that I got up and got drinks for us myself because they never came. again, not worthy of writing a review.there were a few more small annoyances that bugged me, but the icing on the cake...I requested a late check out upon booking the trip. Check out is at 12, check in is at 3 = 3 hour window to clean a room.I was told I had to ask the day before if I could have a late check out. Okay. I come at about 2pm to ask for it..come back at 5. I told them I will be busy at 5 at the foam party and probably unable to remember to call them. Please just tell me now. No. Okay. Go to lunch, call up the front desk around 2:40 to ask for a supervisor. He was nasty from the get-go, so I asked for somebody above him. He said we can't tell you if you can check out late because somebody might be coming to your room tomorrow. Call back later. I said no, I need to know now, I'll be busy later. Well, we need the room because we have no swim outs. Sooo basically you're contradicting yourself and saying you knew all along we wouldn't be able to get the late check out because you needed the room? So I said listen, if I told the "president" of the hotel that I've been here 3 times now and I'm asking for an hour to check out later, he's going to tell me no? So the supervisor basically screams "you want an hour?? Fine, you can have an hour!!!" So I said OKAY and hung up. So we had planned to come back in a few months but now I feel disrespected. I understand you need to clean the room for your next guests, but where is the loyalty? You could easily have someone come to the room at 1:30 and clean it then..it's not like it takes that long to clean a room. The ladies were in and out of our room within 20-25 minutes every day, and we know because we were on the patio meanwhile. To clean a room for new guests would take what, an hour, max? I just don't think you should treat repeat guests with such animosity. Not sure where I stand in terms of coming back simply for that reason alone. Disappointed.

I would rate this hotel 7/10. Don't expect a relaxing holiday! Ruined by inconsiderate guests

My fiancee and I stayed at the Platinum Yucatan Princess for 10 nights over the easter period. We stayed in a 'swim out' suite and we had an enjoyable holiday but to be completely honest I'm not sure if I would return here again. The hotel like many other resorts in Mexico is a hotspot for many Americans and Canadians which I don't have a problem with but there were a small minority of people that had no respect for other guests and treated the resort like an 18-30's club.I'm trying to keep this review as short as I can since so many other reviews are like reading a small book.So the hotel is ALL INCLUSIVE????Yes the hotel is all inclusive. You can try to drink the bar dry 24 hours a day and eat as much as you want HOWEVER you aren't expected to tip every member of staff for every little thing they do for you but if you don't the service slips. I was told from another guest that the staff rely on tips as wages. This shouldn't be the guests problem. I've paid £4000 for my holiday already without throwing more money away. Yes I did tip quite a lot because I'm generous but i think the staff expect it.SWIM UP SUITE REVIEW: DO NOT STAY IN ROOM 5001! My fiancee and I were in this room for 10 nights and neither of us got 1 good nights sleep the entire holiday. This room is close to the main lobby areas and you can literally hear EVERYTHING at night. There were nights we were woke up at 3.30am from the noise of other guests going back to their rooms. There is nothing to describe the level of noise. 1 night a woman locked her boyfriend /husband out of the room due to an argument and they were screaming at each other for over an hour. The room itself is nice however as other guests have stated the mini bar is a bit measly. The beds are pretty comfortable. The showers were great. The bath was nice. One thing that was frustrating was the cleaners came in twice when I had do not disturb sign on the door. 1 instance I was in the shower!!FOOD AND DRINK: The main reason you've decided to go all inclusive!Drinks: Great choice of cocktails with well known spirits. Heineken beers by the 1/2 pint (sadly not available in every restaurant). DOS XX beer also available when you have to make do for second best. The house wines are included but if you want something that doesn't taste watered down you'll have to order a bottle from the wine menu. I didn't think cup size would actually be an issue to some people but it is! You can buy MASSIVE cups in the supermarket 2 for $52 if you really want to or you could settle for a regular sized cup like everyone else.Food: YOU HAVE TO TRY THE JAPANESE RESTAURANT TAOFood is reasonably good although be careful with the buffet (24 hour restaurant - yucatan). We had chicken in the afternoon and had really bad bowels afterwards.Breakfast was ok. Omelettes are nice (most people tip the chef $1 each morning). The Italian restaurant Bruschetta is quite nice. The pizzas are quite small but there are some other nice choices. Duck with plum sauce was really nice.I thought it would've been the best but rodeo grill was terrible. The service was so bad and staff weren't overly friendly.THE RESTAURANT YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR?Ok so there is one restaurant that isn't part of all inclusive. It's called skylights. It is really really nice! Moderately priced, good choice of wine and champagne isn't overly expensive for Moët or Dom Perignon if you're feeling flush. Stunning views overlooking Cozumel. We booked a table for 6 as recommended and watched the sunset. Staff were really nice there and deserved a good tip.The porterhouse steak for 2 was excellent and the chefs made us a cake to celebrate our anniversary :DSPA:If you go for a swim out suite you do have access to the sauna, steam room and thermal pool for a day. It's great! Very quiet also!Treatments are quite expensive compared to what you would get in playa but it was very good! We went for the hot stone massage and were gave 50% off the asking price which was great!ENTERTAINMENT AT NIGHT:Several people have put on reviews that it was boring or it was like a ghost town at night. It's not! We found the majority of people that stay here get up very early in the morning like 7 or 8am and start to wind down around midnight. There are themed nights across 2 bars. Casino night was good fun (however you aren't playing with real money). There is the likes of karaoke, various singers and salsa dancing. There is a theatre with a nightly show. We went to the burlesque show which was the same night as casino night which was fun. It was really cheesy and the dancers were miming which was comical but other than that it was worth a watch.WIFI:Not that you came on holiday to sit online the whole time but wifi is terrible. Connection cuts out every few minutes.BOOKING TRIPS THROUGH THE HOTEL:We went on 3 trips during our stay. Tulum, Cozumel and Chichen Itza. I would avoid the Tulum tour at all costs. The sales reps aren't affiliated with the hotel at all but they do try to persuade you into the trips by saying Oh it's only a half day tour you'll be back by 1 when weren't actually back until 4. Chichen Itza tour with Ik Kil Cenote is brilliant!VERDICT:It maybe seems like I have stated quite a lot of negatives about this hotel or seem hard to please but I'm not.I enjoyed my holiday but I think that the hotel should maybe try to control noise a little at night. If someone has had too much drink and is verbally abusing their partner get security to send them to their room.

  • kim m :
clean, modern resort.

From house keeping staff to coffee shop, waiting staff service was great. we had swim out room that was little distance from the main pool area and noise wasn't much of an issue. some reviewers complained of rocky beach area but overall it is not the best beach i have seen.FOOD !!!! they really need to improve the choice and quality . we eat out to buffet most of time and it was so..so. but they did had fresh fruit juice every morning. oh ..yah.. WIFI.. the worst !!!! i had my own hot spot and that was what i was using it.
