Our Opinion

The Secrets Capri is a smaller, romantic, high end all inclusive resort. Good for couples looking for a relaxing, low key getaway. The service is superb, rooms are excellent and the whole resort is clean and inviting. There is a great spa to take your relaxation to another level. A definite recommend. If you are looking for a larger resort, try their sister property the Secret Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun.

Review of resort

We have been to Dreams but never to a Secrets. I'm a travel agent and wanted to see the difference for my clients. This resort is all preferred club, so that is nice. If you are going for a beach, pick another resort. If you like the pool, this one is nice, but only one pool. It is a smaller resort, which can be nice so you can meet people but I thought 5 nights was plenty of time here. They have some very nice restaurants such as the hibachi and steakhouse. The grill by the pool is good too, try the guacamole! It is the best I've ever had. The swimup bar is where it is happening. One end of the pool is the quiet end the other the parties. Get to the pool early to get a float otherwise they will be gone and used for tables in the pool. I would suggest asking for a pool side room too. The raccoons are a pain and are everywhere, but they do leave you alone but will jump on your balcony when you are sitting there. Rooms are nice a little musty smelling. Showers could use some repairs with the tiles. Internet is up and down at night. Shows at night were pretty good.

Wonderful Vacation

We visited this resort on Jan 5th to Jan 13th and had a wonderful time. The ride from the airport is about 30 minutes. Accommodations: clean, comfy and spacious with lots of staff who are all very friendly and welcoming. The resort itself is beautiful except for the fact that a lot of the beach has been washed away from recent storms but if you like to walk the beach just walk to the right and you'll be fine. We rented a bali bed for 5 of the days we were there and loved it. We didn't have to worry about securing a good spot every day. Food: we really like that you don't have to make reservations at the restaurants. Portofino was our favorite, we had several different meals and loved each one. We ate at each of the other restaurants once and it all ranged from fine to great. We also did a poolside dinner table at the Beatles show which was a nice experience. We had breakfast and lunch mostly at the buffet each day which we found to be fine. Resort: it is beautiful all over. The pool is very nice and is kind of separated in to two sections where it's kind of quiet on one side and a bit louder on the other side (swimup bar) lol. The beach is small but you can still enjoy if if you get a spot early.

Enjoyed our stay overall.

Smaller resort, which we all liked. No learning curve for finding anything. Meals were good but mostly average, with the exception of the hibachi in the Himitsu restaurant - that was excellent. They put on quite a show and the food was far and away the best the 4 of us had at the resort. Then again the worst was in the main eating area of the Himitsu. The beach had been eroded greatly by past storms and it really took a beating while we were there from the strong winds and waves. If you are expecting a beach like in the pictures you will be very disappointed. The first couple days we were there you could walk easily either direction on the beach, by the time we left the beaches had eroded quite a bit and had been eaten away by several of the cabanas so much you could not walk in front of them. Shells were a rather rare find. The wind also brought in large amounts of seaweed, which they were working on constantly to bury it in the sand. That aside the resort was very clean. Lots of wildlife to amuse. The seagulls were always trying to steal food in the pool area and the coati were plentiful and were comical climbing in and out of the garbage bins. They also climbed the trees to get up onto the second floor. Some people were afraid of them, as they will get very close to you. But we thought they were interesting and funny. We saw a couple of mosquitoes and a few people did get bit, but overall not many as I suspect they do not like the wind. There was repellant in the rooms. Entertainment was very good with only one exception. Coco cafe had great drinks and some snacks if you ever got hungry, they were open 24/7. Internet was running most of the time. The spa was having difficulties while we were there and had no hot water, so we did not get the hydro massages we had earned by listening to the vacation club upsell speech. Room cleaning was twice a day, with the later one being the turndown service. They did a good job and was not hit or miss like the last AM resort we stayed at. Rooms were nice, but like most resorts are not very soundproof. We had a junior suite/ocean view on the main level. The people above us seemed rather loud and we could hear them wake up every hour or so every night and go out on their patio to smoke. When they slid the chairs on the deck It would wake us up and also our next door friends. Smoking is only in designated areas (which was very nice) but I wish the patios/decks were not one of them. .

Overall Secrets gets it right

We stayed January 14th to 18th for a birthday trip for me that my wife gave me as a present. This was our 14th trip to the Playa/Cancun area. This was our 2nd Secrets resort having stayed at Secrets Maroma Beach 5 years earlier. We arrived and were greeted with a cool towel and a glass of sparkling wine. We were escorted to the desk and introduced to Fernando. This was the only poor experience we had during our whole stay. He told us we had a room with 2 double beds, not really what we wanted or had booked. We asked about an upgrade and he dismissed us out of hand . "come back at 3 o'clock for your key i have nothing". My wife said not to worry about it we don't spend that much time in the room anyway .At around 3:30 we returned to the desk for our key and we were directed to Jorge . He was getting our key and i asked off hand if any upgrades were available. He said sure let me show you what we have . I told him we had been told no upgrades , he asked who said that. Turned out Jorge was front desk manager. We ended up in a beautiful ocean front Jr Suite room 259 for a small upcharge. Thank You Jorge. We always bring swim trucks in our carry on since rooms are almost never ready before 3 down here. Restaurants : Portofino - we ate here twice enjoyed the salads, risotto and pasta very much. The steak and veal was not great but not terrible. Service was great and the fresh cheese with the bread was a nice touch Jaime took good care of us Himitsu- we really enjoyed the Habatchi . Alfredo the chef and Carlos the waiter were great. They offer you a choice of proteins and ask you to pick two. We dined with couples that ordered up to 4 . We had the shrimp and ribeye and it was fantastic. They give u a ton of food Room Service- we had dinner one night in our balcony over looking the ocean. For AI room service it was very good Buffet- great breakfast Freddy who made omelettes each morning did a great job and a wonderful way to start the day. Not a ton of choices but more then enough to satisfy your needs. The fresh juices and smoothies were great.Seaside Grill- We had lunch here the snapper was great and the salad bar almost made you feel like you were eating healthy.CoCo Cafe.- perfect for coffee or a light snack very good quality Pool side BBQ - Burgers dogs sausage pasta wings they mixed it up . They also had people walking around with food on carts.Cactus Grill- very good tacosBars- All were good with top quality booze. Juan at the pool bar was our go to great job by him. Lobby bar fantastic martini's and mayan coffee yummy. Desires is where we watched the NFL games and had a ball doing it . They set up a small buffet in the 2nd half of the Packer game after we asked for food they reacted with in 30 min to get that done.Room - Rm 259 was fantastic with 2 lounge chairs plus 2 chairs and a table on our balcony directly over looking the sea. Everything in our room worked properly . Bed was very comfortable. Abraham our housekeeper did a fantastic job our room was made up by 11 each day and turned down each night. Mini bar and fridge restocked daily.Entertainment Team- Hector,Yoshi , Yolanda and Joanna did a great job around the pool each day . We did Olympics, Water aerobics , Sushi lesson , Guacamole lesson and pool bingo. Never pushy and very friendly. The Service can not be beat here just amazing Our favorite employee was Grisella . She went so far as to make empanadas at home and bring them in for me after i mentioned how much i loved them . She always had a smile on weather she was a pool waitress or working in Coco's.This is a smaller resort which we loved not a ton of walking and you got to know the other guests in a day. Shout out to the Wisconsin Crew from the New Yorker aka Cramper. The beach has been badly eroded no fault of the resort. I would now call this water front not beach front. We had a great time and would recommend to friends and family. This is a mature resort but very well maintained . I give it 5 stars due to the serviceIf you have any questions PM me i will gladly help if i can
