Our Opinion

The Secrets Capri is a smaller, romantic, high end all inclusive resort. Good for couples looking for a relaxing, low key getaway. The service is superb, rooms are excellent and the whole resort is clean and inviting. There is a great spa to take your relaxation to another level. A definite recommend. If you are looking for a larger resort, try their sister property the Secret Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun.

UVC MEMBER - Gives 2 Stars !!!!

At first glance the Secrets Capri from the website looks amazing and has all the amenities that you could want from a 5 Star hotel. It also promises to be for “Adults Only” which is true, it also shows you great images of the rooms and the pool, oh and let’s not forget that beautiful beach that’s on the website too, the amazing food and several different restaurants to cater for all.Well……. What can I say ??????Pool Area.If you’re looking for a relaxing time as a couple then this is NOT the place I would recommend, the reason I say this is because the pool area was loud with music and people getting off their faces at the pool bar. Beach. The Beach unfortunately offered a peaceful and tranquil setting but that’s about it. The seaweed that was being washed up on the beach was a constant struggle even for the poor workers that pretty much spent all day trying to remove it. Not nice when you’re trying to relax and you have a load of gardeners passing you by all day. The photos of the beach on the website look nothing like the actual beach. Also we did not understand why only one half of the beach had shade the other half just had sun loungers which nobody wanted to use when its 36 degrees yet on the hotel images its shows both sides of the beach covered with cabanas ?? Hotel Room. The Hotel room we stayed in was an Oceanview Suite which basically was a ground floor room with pool and sea views. The space was good however the room needs renovating. There was a damp musty smell constantly in the room too. For 3 days, we had issues with the AC unit which was flooding the room but managed to get it fixed. His and Hers twin sinks in the ensuite with one cracked which looked like it had been like it for a while. Minibar was stocked daily I might add and the Maid service was great. The Restaurants. The best thing about the food was breakfast, it was nice and tasty. The BBQ that was by the pool area daily was ok if you wanted a Burger or Hot Dog but for the rest not good at all. We went down the Playa Del Carmen several times to eat. The Italian Portofino was probably the beast on if I had to give any of them a mention. Apart from that the food was very bland and basic.Staff.The only persons that saved our Holiday were the two staff members who looked after us on the Beach was Teressa, she waited on us all day every day. All I can say is THANK YOU TERESSA. As for the rest of the staff not that we really spoke to many they seemed ok.As a UVC Member we were looking forward to our benefits from our membership, like free upgrade to next room level, use of the extended check out, VIP services desk. We let me tell you that on arrival the bell boy cam out and gave us a cold towel to refresh us. then we were expecting a welcome drink which we never got, instead we were told to go to reception and waited there for about 15 minutes. As members we should have gotten better treatment or at least a faster service. We eventually got seen and was given an upgrade to a larger room to the one we had booked but then we were told if we wanted a pool or sea view we had to upgrade on an upgrade which cost us and extra $60, this was a discounted price as we were UVC Members. in hindsight we should have kept our money and taken the free upgrade as the room was not worth the extra. Then on the first day we were asked to have breakfast at another hotel to "refresh our memories on our UVC club Membership". Basically, this was just an excuse to get you to their sales office try and upsell on our existing membership. For us we almost did if it had not been for a certain guy there (Christopher) who was the most unrespect full sales person I think I have ever met. This guy kept getting up from the table and going to another table, all he was interested in was trying to see how much money he could get out of us period. He had no Manners and I urge anyone looking to join the UVC, BE CAREFULL. I was intending to write to them directly but I think here is better as this I also a review to do with the hotel and the treatment that we were given. There was absolutely no benefit of being a UVC member this trip or any other trip for that matter as we did not feel part of any club nor did we really understand why there were at least 5 VIP member staff at the desk when we were there and yet not one of them came to say hello or even noticed that we were there.Summary.This hotel seems to be more catered for the Americans than us Europeans. The average age when we were there was probably 25 and there were Hen and Stag Groups there which is what let the Hotel down for us. If you’re looking for Peace and Quiet go to one of their Zoetry resorts instead.

Capri in July

This was our 2nd time here and the staff is fantastic! Had a great time! Casino night, Elvis & the mentalist were very entertaining. The beach was in great shape as well. The dinner by the pool was fantastic as well.

Hugely Overrated Resort - Rates Only 2 Stars - Not 5 Stars!!!

I had high expectations for Secrets Capri and even allowed the front desk into talking me into a costly room upgrade (which was worse than my original room). The restaurants are all average to poor (no gourmet dining here)! A hostess who worked several of the restaurants did not even smile once or even attempt to be friendly. A bartender at the lobby bar (Omar) was rude and arrogant. The pool (only one) was at most 3 feet deep and mostly about 2 feet, due its sloping sides (I witnessed an elderly woman slip on the slippery tile and hit her head hard...luckily she appeared to be ok). The beach area (what there is of it) does not amount to much and was always covered in seaweed. After just a couple of days my friends and I were so bored we paid costly taxi fares to transfer to Secrets sister resort Maroma (only allowed from 6pm to 1am). My overall recommendation is to stay elsewhere.

Fun and Relaxing

We just got back from a wonderful , relaxing week at Secrets Capri! This resort was the perfect size for an adults only place. The food quality and variety were great, with super friendly servers like Paula, Floriberto, and Fransisco. Our room and bed were so comfortable and maids came through twice a day to keep it tidy and restocked with supplies. The pool had two sections, one side for lively activities hosted by really fun gals, Kame and Vivi. The swim up bar was located here. The other side of the pool was a quieter side for relaxing. The wait staff at poolside was terrific, especially Saulo, Santo, Orlando, and Filamon. A couple of our favorite bar tenders were Araceli who made incredible coffee drinks, and Padro at the Sugar Reef Bar. The Excellent Entertainment staff kept things fun and interesting all evening! We loved the Mexican buffet by the pool as well as the poolside Beatles music to a cirque de sole performance. The beach water was a little weedy, and people were continually cleaning up the weeds that washed up on the sand. I got bit by mosquitos in the evening, so bring repellant!

Better than we expected!

Given that this was our first trip to an all inclusive, let alone to Mexico, our too short in hindsight 4 night stay was fantastic. The convenience of booking the flight and transportation from the airport and back with the hotel is very convenient. So nice to be welcomed with a glass of champagne and the cool towel with a scent of eucalyptus for your neck at check-in. Yes, we were asked about taking a ride to another property for what was never disclosed as a timeshare presentation, but after a terrible similar experience in Orlando a couple of years ago, we saw right through it and it only took one no to move on. Our room wasn't ready yet, so we took advantage of the lunch buffet at La Riviera. Great assortment and variety, but a little warm. We headed to our room, a junior suite ocean view, and were not disappointed. I've read quite a few complaints about the AC, but our room was a consistent 67 the entire time. The view over the pool and looking off to the Caribbean was mesmerizing. Breakfast each day was the buffet at La Riviera. It was always good, and with so much to choose from, it was easy to mix it up. We only did lunch a couple of times-the first was wait service at the pool and the second was at the Cactus Club. The dinners were just fine. Always tasted great and the portions were perfect in size. We managed to hit Portofino's first-the atmosphere is very nice. Our second dinner was on the beach. We honestly can't say enough good about this experience! Enrique, Hector and Jose were above and beyond attentive, even using our phones to take so many pictures. Thank you for that! The next day was a quick trip to Playa del Carmen, to experience 5th Avenue. Our driver, David, was very pleasant and arranged to meet us 3 hours after drop off. $40 round trip is more than enough. Warning here though-every single person that approaches you to ask if you remember him as the bellboy at the resort, or from the restaurant, doesn't work there. Just smile and move on. That night, we dined at the Seaside Grill. Great meal here as well, the steak was melt in your mouth good. Our last night was neat-we ordered room service as our balcony overlooked the pool, so we could eat and watch the Beatles show. When the staff bringing dinner saw the rose petals on the bed and learned it was our anniversary, they prepared a table with white tablecloth on the balcony for us. Overall, I cannot say enough good things about the staff. They always let us know it was their pleasure to serve us, and they were beyond pleasant and attentive. It took less than 24 hours for my wife to tell me that we have to do this again, so that decision has already been made. Can't wait! Thanks to all.
