This was our second visit to this amazing resort. We are very seasoned travelers and had only ever gone to one other resort more than once. We normally try to experience what each has to offer as this has been our trip # 13 to Mexico :) Our room was great and looked just like the pictures, very clean and modern. Always cleaned daily and restocked as needed.Service- Fantastic!! Not one single issue the entire week. The best service on the beach from all staff!! Elizabeth and Kevin became friends forever to us!! You are both amazing :) All servers, (Raul) on the beach, all top notch. Entertainment staff, JC-you kept my husband in top shape playing football :)Martini Bar was our favorite each night and Noe impressed me so much with remembering my name from last year. Pretty amazing!! All the servers at that bar including the manager Jose, did a terrific job of keeping us hydrated. Excellent drinks and top quality service. The live entertainment each night and around the pools were fantastic. We love music and they did a great job with all covers.Food-one of the best we have ever experienced. Every meal was prepared very well and very tasty. The buffet had so many choices that if you could not find something there it wasn't available. Each dinner we had came with fantastic service and a great meal. It was such a treat to have the Mayan Coffee in the lobby each night!! Gym was top notch as well and it was the start to our morning to prepare for all the food and drinks we had during the day ;)This resort had so many excellent offerings that the other 5* resorts didn't that we have been. From the Chocolate Party that was over the top, to the Amazing Lobster Dinner on the beach, it really shows the pride that they take in pleasing their guests. It truly stands out and we enjoyed it very much. The beach depending on the wind did have some seaweed and my only suggestion the entire week would have been to have their tractor clean it more often or maybe have two tractors meet in the middle to try and stay on top of it. Last year, and some days this year, the beach was amazing. It certainly isn't any fault to the resort. It is mother nature!!A couple of tips that I will offer to the resort is to maybe heat the second pool as a more quitter area. The pool in February was very cold and believe me, where we live and swim in the Atlantic Ocean, I can manage cold water!! Secondly, offering a shuttle to Playa Del Carmen of Cancun would be well received even at a small fee as we paid for a cab to the road to get the Collectivo. Being so far away from these areas is a down side to people like us that love to explore the real Mexican way of life!!Overall, I would rate this vacation as one of the best we have had and we could mention everyone as they truly take pride in their work. We treat the staff very well in return and a little tip goes a long way. They work very long hours and wait on us hand and foot, I can't think of one reason not to show some courtesy back. We will be back to this resort again soon...On a last note, to whoever left the note on our door saying that our music was too loud and to turn it down, I really hope you had a great time sitting on your patio the entire week. We had our Bob Segar playing on level 4 (it goes to 20), at 2pm in the afternoon. I think you got the drift with my husbands note back to you. It is guests like you that treat the staff poorly. Hope you had a great week :) We certainly did!!
We went to the Royalton Cancun in March 2017 for our 10 year anniversary. It was a wonderful stay. They were so good to us. The service was unbelievable. The staff were always so happy, friendly and always wanting to help. The check in and out services were excellent. We stayed at the Hideaway Diamond club section. This included a butler service, Domingus, he was such a help and pleasant to deal with. If we did need anything he returned on a timely fashion, such as anything required for the room, to making dinner reservations for the evening. For the date of the anniversary they set our room up with signs, banners and rose petals and a bubble bath drawn for us. The food in each and every restaurant they offered was amazing; everything was cooked and presented beautifully. We would recommend the Hunter, the steak house; it was so fantastic, it was so good that we went there twice. Another restaurant we recommend would be the C/X Culinary Experience (the bottom section). The food was astonishing and the service from Raymundo and his partner Benjamin was exceptional. There was seaweed on the beach while we were there, the workers worked very hard to gather and remove it off the beach so we didn’t have to walk through it to go for a swim. It wasn’t a big deal you can’t control Mother Nature. The beach service was great, as you get to the beach there were beach attendants to help lay out towels on chairs while you wait for a drink from the server. The one server we had was so friendly, Jorgito (hope I spelt correctly), always a smile and a wave and kept the drinks coming! You didn’t have to move out of your chair. You could also order a lunch on the beach from the server which was nice so you could eat in your bathing suit. The cleanliness of the entire grounds was striking. You always saw people cleaning and picking up. There were fresh cut flowers for decoration everywhere. Our room was cleaned in short order each day. There were maintenance workers around the grounds fixing repairing; tiding up making sure everything was up to order. Pools were cleaned daily and looked crystal clear. We had a swim out off of our room and they were in vacuuming and repairing tiles etc, with no bother to us. It was nice into the late afternoon to chill on our deck and swim; it felt like your own private pool. The entertainment during the day and the evening were upbeat and fun. Got the crowd involved. We didn’t feel it was the best nightly entertainment we have seen compared to other resorts we have been to, but they were all still so talented. We would highly recommend this resort for all types of travelers. There is something for everyone and we would go to a Royalton again.
great venues, multiple pools, excellent food at all restaurants, had dinner in six of the ten) Service at restaurants excellent. Spotty though in rooms, consumables such as water and coffee in rooms not replaced every day,
I went on a girls trip to this resort. We were totally blown away when we first arrived. The view from the reception area is amazing, The property is extremely clean and very well kept. It is a large property with the royalton and hideway all connected. We stayed at the Hideaway which was the "exclusive" adults only area. This section is the first few buildings at the end of the resort. We had a swim out room that was amazing! Where our room was, our pool was always in the shade, but we made the most of it. It was a bit warmer than the hotel pools, but still chilly. We liked the fact that we could swim whenever we wanted. If you truly want an adults only resort I would not recommend this resort. We thought we would have a bit more privacy and not be bothered with kids, but we were wrong. Most of the restaurants had kids, it was spring break time so we were constantly surrounded by drunk teens (who had no business drinking) , the disco at night was nothing but a second senior prom (because of the teens), the beach areas were over ran with loud teenagers. Didn't seem like there was any supervision or chaperones around to hone them in. Anyhow, that being said, maybe if you go outside of spring break time it would be different? If would be nice if the resort had a different area where the teens could go dance and hang out rather than taking over the one and only "adult" disco. The food here was hit and miss. We joked that the buffet seemed to have some of the best food. There is such an assortment of food at the buffet that even the pickiest of eaters will have no problem finding something they like. Our worst experience was at Agave. DO NOT go there unless you absolutely have to. It took us almost 45 mins just to get drinks! About an hour and half into our dining experience we still didn't have any food! We kept asking our waiter and he always said "its coming." Some people in our party actually left and went next door to eat at the buffet. The one complaint we had at almost every restaurant is that the service was extremely slow. The resort needs to invest in more workers in the kitchen and service areas. You should not have to spend 2-3 hours at dinner! Beware that when you plan to eat dinner it will take forever. we rarely had a chance to catch any of the nightly entertainment at the main pool because dinner took way too long.
Food was consistently excellent. Service at buffet tables was not excellent. Had to ask for water several times... didn't get it until I got up to get some. Lunch time.. seemed not enough servers. Room not straightened till late afternoon. Concierge on everyfloor but you had to go to 3rd floor, walk across lobby to guest relations for help in making telephone call toconfirm taxi appointment
