I came here for a friend’s wedding. I was amazed at how terrible (not bad) the client service was. Since the moment we got there till the moment we left, I felt like I was a pain for the hotel staff and that serving us was their worst nightmare.A couple of examples of what happened:- our room was not thoroughly cleaned and we found candy wrappers in the sofa- we never got clean towels (not even a bath rug) and we were at the beach.- They didn’t bother to clean our room thoroughly. There was sand all over the place.- The maid knocked at our door once, we said we couldn’t open the door (we were changing for the wedding) and she kept insisting she had to leave us the bottled water.- they only had camomile tea. At a 5 star resort? The food was bad. Specially the snack bar was awful. Breakfast was edible, but again.. not enough food and bad service.- At the sushi restaurant we had a reservation for 15. We were there with the bride and groom. They didn’t let us order more than one dish, they were measuring the soy sauce they gave us (as in they didn’t give us individual dishes), they didn’t serve coffee or tea and before we could order desert they said they were closed and too bad.- At the wedding on the beach there was lots of trash, I asked the waiters if they were going to start picking up at any time so that the trash didn’t go in the ocean and they totally ignored me.The list goes on.. we had a great time because we were among friends, but the way this hotel treats their guests and the environment is a disgrace. There was not one staff member I could say “was nice” or courteous (with the exception of Jovally at reception and Miguel at the restaurant) but in general they just ignored you and went on with their job. So, in short, don’t plan your vacation here :)
We have had a time-share there for 13 yrs. from the beginning of development on that Northernmost stretch of NPV. It was called Playa del Sol then and the area/beach was dirty and littered with trash and old car bodies but with promises to clean it up which they did very well. Now RIU is next door and they think it is POSH. There was a Tortuga (sea-turtle) rookery very nearby and we would release the tiny treasures at night with a man in the surf with a flashlight to help them find their way. Predatory birds would have had them for breakfast had we released them in the daylight. It was MOST memorable. We always get a room above the restaurant just 50 yards away from the crashing waves and never close the doors. It is a peaceful place to unwind except in the afternoons now they have fun stuff in the pool and a sound system. The food is typical with plenty of dishes for Gringos (us!) and the staff are most pleasant and attentive. It is getting a bit rundown now but hope is on the way. My only complaint is an incessant blast of monotonous American modern repetitive electronic rhythmic stuff (notice I did not use the word Music!) when you are around the pool area. It is a very modest hotel and they try their very best to make your stay a pleasant one. If one wishes you can take a bus to town center from here.
Our stay was nice... but the room was cozy, but could use a little updating, and the food was just ok... the service was wonderful and the staff did a great job taking care of us. There didn't seem to be a lot of activities to do while we were there... but overall it was enjoyable
The hotel was great, and the staff are very accommodating and attentive. I would give them a 5 but there's was a few things that I thought they could done better. We are on vacation there's a very nice pool with a swim up bar, but here's the downer, the bar dose not open till noon, really noon? We are on vacation, I didn't want to wait till noon. There were staff there behind the bar and but they said they can't give any service till noon. The other problem was that there is only 1 restaurant in the hotel, what a bummer. We ate out a lot but it would have been nice to have choices.
There was construction going on and parking my car was hell.I like getting what I pay for and this time you cut me short on the service and the room I pay for, unfortunately some of the staff don't care much for Mexican people they only care for the American people provably thinking above the tips in dollars.
