An excellent hotel, with great amenities and service. Nice beach. Good for families and couples.
The wonderful Club Marival (right side of main photo) resort is located directly on a beautiful beach in the Nuevo Vallarta area, close to the Los Flamingos 18-hole golf course. Guests can enjoy the facilities and services of both the Club Marival and the adjacent sister hotel, the Grand Marival.
Location: Beachfront, 25 minutes to Puerto Vallarta, 15 minutes from the airport, and close to various golf courses.
I would have rated this a 3.5 star if the option existed. We booked this last minute with Air Transat and paid $1640 including flight and 7 nights over Christmas. The property itself was nice, well maintained and pretty easy to get around. The beach was awesome and we went in and used the boogie boards every day. The free bike rentals were also nice. The pools, and the bars at the beach and pools were great.Room: Our room was a very nice room inside, but I think we got the worst view in the place, as it was level 1 right on the corner overlooking the fence/ receiving area, and the edge of the property and neighbouring building. Room was clean. However, we did not have hot water throughout the entire stay!! Food: We only made it to two a la carte restaurants. The Mexican restaurant was very very good. Delicious. La Pergola the second restaurant we tried was mediocre. My steak was way over cooked (ordered medium rare, got well done). I didn't send it back because I didn't want the meat to go to waste. The buffet was not very good either. The food was often picked over, cold, and had been sitting a while. Some strange combinations of things too, and really lacked interesting selections for main courses. It felt low quality. Breakfast was generally good, and I really enjoyed the mexican breakfast options. I really enjoyed the Pizza station which was pretty much always open. The freshest food was most often there. DO NOT MISS mexican night, the food for this night was hands down the best of all the buffets. Only downfall was the lineups for the taco stations were really long (15 minutes). The area: Not much going on nearby in Nuevo Vallarta, its resort city. But there is a local bus that takes you into Puerto Vallarta if you can get some basic Spanish down. Taxi will cost you about 250 pesos. Bus will cost about $1 CAD. Do not miss going into PV. There are some really awesome taco carts selling amazing tacos in the streets. Don't be scared of getting sick, I ate at 6 different taco stands and made it home to write this review. Bucerias: Not worth the taxi ride. Kind of a dumpy little beach town with not much to do and a lot of high pressure sales people in the tourist trap market.Time Share: We took the time share pitch. Got a free massage, two bus tour tickets and $40 for the gift shop. I'd say it was worth it. If you know you're smart enough not to get sucked into signing something its worth going to the meeting if you negotiate a good gift.Nightlife: Kind of quiet at night. The shows were entertaining in that I found them humorous. The performers do have to put a lot of energy and work into coming up with something every night. Good for them. But have a half dozen cervezas before hand and you'll enjoy it more.I'd return on another sell-off but would likely try something else in the same price range if it were available. Id also want to be in PV rather than out in resort city. Overall a great spot for a beach vacation.
Arrived New Years Eve, they already had booked us a table at the Gala, what a party ! Best New Year's Eve party we have ever experienced at an All inclusive since we have been going to Mexico for 20 yrs. The fireworks on the beach at midnight were amazing ! We stayed in the Grand selection , happy with our rooms and service. The food in the buffet has improved immensely from our last visit. Actually ate most of our meals there. Love the big swimming pool, always room to take a dip and stop at the swim up bar to check out the drink of the day. Staff always helpful and friendly. Spent our days on the beach enjoying the sun and water.Love the snack bar on the beach and washrooms close by. Looking forward to going back !
Out of my 20 vacation trips this is # 1. Very clean, staff very friendly, good food, nice beach. After our vacation in Marival it will be hard to find next resort with all of this. They are EXCELLENT. All staff is very friendly and we have to put this people on top: ABEL VELAZCO (Capitain de Meseros) and ANTONIO LOPEZ.
My sons, husband and I stayed at the Marival on the Grand side the beginning of January. We were very impressed with the hotel. The rooms were a good size and had lots of room to unpack if so desired. The fridge was restocked daily with water and soft drinks. We didn't eat at any of the specialty restaurants as the buffet was always good. Our favourite themes were the oriental night and Tex mex night. The bartenders were great and always ready to serve you whatever you want.Lots of activities available to help you keep busy if you don't want to spend all day on the beach. The beach is great, unfortunately there are lots of people who get up early to "save" recliners for themselves. The waves were fun to play in and the water was clean(no seaweed). The sand was easy to walk on and for kids to build sand castles. We would definitely recommend this resort to anyone looking for an all inclusive resort.
This was our third time at Marival as a family of five (ages 2,6,7) and as usual, it was great. One thing that really impresses me is that there is such low turnover...I think that speaks to the happiness of the staff and I can get behind that. Thank you Adianna, Ruben, and Estefany from the kids club for being so great. Thank you Celia for being so great at breakfast time! Thank you Margerita for keeping the place so clean! We stay in a 2 bedroom suite and it is lots of space for our family. Two things that they can improve on are:1) the dinner reservations. I was distracted during the Christmas season and didn't book beforehand. When I went to book our à la cartes upon arrival I was told they were full. That didn't fly so well with me. (People are allowed to book 3 times/week, but can book for an unlimited # of people).2) the beginning of the week there was not much for poolside service but it seemed to pick up towards the end. Overall - a great week. PV weather cannot be beat and the cleanliness, atmosphere and staff at Marival are topnotch. Looking forward to next year!
