An excellent hotel, with great amenities and service. Nice beach. Good for families and couples.
The wonderful Club Marival (right side of main photo) resort is located directly on a beautiful beach in the Nuevo Vallarta area, close to the Los Flamingos 18-hole golf course. Guests can enjoy the facilities and services of both the Club Marival and the adjacent sister hotel, the Grand Marival.
Location: Beachfront, 25 minutes to Puerto Vallarta, 15 minutes from the airport, and close to various golf courses.
My husband and I just returned from our mexication 2017. We traveled with my in laws and were a group of 12; 7 adults, 5 kids. I should preface this in saying that my first all inclusive experience was at a luxury resort so I may have a tainted view of what a "normal" all inclusive experience should be. Nonetheless, i have stayed in my fair share of hotels and can say that this place was very middle of the road for me. Food - mediocre at best. We ate at the buffet a handful of times (once for dinner and a couple of lunches) and the food was not very fresh and lukewarm. I enjoyed the made to order fajitas at lunch (because it was made to order) and the featured dish in the middle of the buffet (also made to order). There was a fish fish my husband liked, but other than that I wasn't really going up for seconds. There's an outdoor snack bar that was convenient. But I'm pretty sure we saw a bird fly away with a piece of macaroni from the serving dish....The reservation restaurants were hit or miss. We enjoyed la bamba (must go if you love meat) and la pergola. You can actually have a sit down breakfast at la pergola, which is what we did each morning. The breakfast food was fresh (hello made to order omelets and juice!) and good portions. The portion control at each of the restaurants were good; not like in the US where they stuff you silly. Service - staff were mainly friendly (shout out to Mercedes at la pergola breakfast). The Mexican hospitality really shines here. The only downside, and it's a huge downside, was the timeshare push. Honesty this review would have been a 3.5-4 star had it not been for the person who called our room at 9am on our first full day there asking if we'd be joining the timeshare tour. Drinks - bottled water was plentiful, I assume the beer was modelo, mojitos were hit or miss, but the wine was abysmal! Do yourself a favor and when the nice taxi driver from the airport asks if you want to stop for anything, stop and buy some vino and cervezas. You'll want something good for after dinner if you want to lounge on your balcony.Activities - this resort is great for activities. There was a schedule each day that showed what was going on every hour. Bikes were free to rent if you wanted to venture out (we did a bike ride to bucerias for lunch one day). If you get bored or stir crazy sitting at the pool for hours, there's always something to do. Tons to do for the kids too. Boogie board rentals for the ocean were a hit! Room - we had a room facing the activities pool. It was loud. The room itself was delightful - great comfy bed and pillows. It was a little musty but we kept the ac on low so it wasn't so sticky inside. If you're not VIP or have a bedroom suite, you're unfortunately probably around the loud activities pool. It was fine at night, but hard to take a midday siesta. Amenities - there are 4 pool areas. The kids loved the kids pool and the slides. Towards the end of the week, they migrated towards the bigger pools which was good so the adult could have some water time too. There are bathrooms everywhere, which is great since you're never left trying to find one. Bonus points for keeping them very clean too. The live music in the club lobby was entertaining too. The combination of great weather and great company made for a memorabke trip. Overall, the resort was enjoyable and Nuevo Vallarta is a beautiful community. The food is really my biggest issue. I left yearning for my own home cooked meal (and I don't enjoy cooking.) The majority of the guests here are Canadian, so that might explain why everyone was so friendly! If you're looking for a college "spring break woohoo!" experience, this is not for you. If you're looking for a luxurious romantic honeymoon experience, also not for you. But if you're in a group with kids, definitely give it a shot. There's a little something for everyone.
Just returned from a week at Marival Resort & Suites. Had an amazing time. We are a family of 5 with 3 kids under 8. The resort was very clean and we stayed in the 2 bedroom suite. There were lots of activities for the kids and the food was amazing. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had 3 a la carte dinner booked and our favourite was at Amalfi, the Italian restaurant. Our service was Jose Garcia and he went above and beyond. The kids the loved the little cricket he made out of palm leaves. Spoke to a lot of families while there and many have stayed at the resort multiple times. Before we left, we were already planning our next trip.
I just have to rant a bit about certain reviews. The reviews that include " no elevator" to our rooms....no "king sized bed"......the "time share sharks". These reviews upset me a lot. My first question to those people would be, did you do any research before you booked? Did you not see the online map of the resort? Did you not know it was a timeshare resort? Did you not read before you booked that room requests are only that...not guarenteed? Have you ever stayed in an all inclusive where the food was better? ( I stayed in an Iberostar in Punta Mita and truly missed the Marival food).Do your research people and do not blame the resort because you were to lazy or more often than not, an entitled idiot.Rant over.
The stay was a special Christmas present to my daughter-in-law and granddaughter. Other friends with their families were also staying there at that time. I have never written a review before but our experience at this place was so bad I have to report it. Let's start at the beginning. 1. Arrival: before we could even get to our room, we were rudely assaulted by time share folks and I mean rudely. I finally had to state firmly that we were not interested.2. Room: on entry, the room exuded a chemical smell as if the air conditioner was leaking chemicals. None of us slept well the first night - we had to leave the door opened to get fresh air. When I complained the next day, Front Desk stated we had to stay there one more night. Only through the day time Concierge did we get a new room immediately - why did I have to raise the complaint before anything was done. 3. Maid Service: So our room was great - no more chemical smell. We tip generously when we are in Mexico. However every day I had to ask for more water and sufficient towels for the 3 of us. It just never got better. 4. Friendliness: generally the Mexican staff at hotels during our stays in Mexico (and I've been there many, many time) are very, very friendly. At this hotel, the staff were not happy, at least many of them and it was noticeable. 5. Reserving at a la carte restaurants: was a joke. We were told time and again, sorry all booked up. It was only when we complained to the Concierge that she managed to get us into the a la carte restaurants. When we arrived (and it didn't matter which restaurant), there were many empty tables. My only guess is that they are too short staffed. 6. Last but far from least, in fact, I wouldn't write this review if it wasn't for the fact that the food was simply awful. No matter what restaurant - a la carte or buffet. The food was either average/below average or not edible. At the Mexican a la carte restaurant, we had 8 adults at our table and 6 of us left our entire entree, nibbling at the vegetables but leaving the fish. I highly recommend that you stay clear of this resort. It should be rated a 3 star and priced accordingly.
This is a very nice hotel. The hotel is clean and the food is excellent ! At the beach, The sunset is right in front for those who loves to take pictures. The entire team (staff) we mean every one are doing an exceptional work and the service is A+ . For those who follow us, you notice the type of hotel we go. But this hotel is not a chain hotel and if you choose this hotel, you will see an have a little more than usual ! There is also amusement for children's. Our room was nice and regardless the one you get, the way it's built you can see the ocean from your balcony. The beach strip is beautiful. There is a low and high tide and the low tide is in the afternoon ! You will have a very very wide beach with no rocks or stones and the sand is hard packed. Now once you're in the water at low tide, you can walk easily one hundred feet + and have water to you waist ! and be 400 hundred feet away from your chair ! It is a shallow area.Yes it is a very nice hotel to go and we will visit again. Thank you very much for your hospitality at the Marival, it was a nice vacation. We were the guess of LB. We had the opportunity to visit the Marival deluxe residences and our review will be posted soon. Thank youBob and Christine rm 1636
