Dreams Villamagna is located on a nice stretch of beach and is surrounded by swaying palm trees and free form pools. Most tour operators rate the resort as 5 stars but recent negative feedback leads us to believe that it has gone downhill compared to the high standards of other Dreams resorts. There are probably better 5 star options in the area such as Riu Palace Pacifico, Marival Residences and Now Amber Resort. Hopefully the Dreams Villamagna will get back to the high standards that travelers expect from Dreams Resorts, but until that time expect this resort to be more along the lines of a 4 star resort.
This resort has condos. The people that own those condos have asked the resort to not play music or do any activities at the pool that are near the ocean. Consequently, it is a great resort if you want rest, but a poor resort if you are looking for activities to keep yourself active. The food was average, the staff, other than the pool side waiters, were very helpful and friendly. Our experience was that the pool side waiters would rather stand at the bar & chat with each other than bring you a drink. Many times we waited 20 minute's or more and there was not many people in the pools.
The hotel staff here make this place , they are very attentive and nothing is too much trouble. Just to mention a few of the staff who we found to be exceptional : Alma, Yadira N, Augustin, Gilberto, Josue, Isaac, Alberto, Rosa and too many to mention. The rooms are bright and spacious, we loved the spa bath on the balcony after a day in the sun.The restaurants served a variety of food and if you couldn't find something to suit you I am afraid that you must be very fussy! The only let down was the Lobby, the seating was worn and a bit grubby and as there wasn't another lounge area available to use, this would have been an improvement especially if it had been air conditioned with comfortable furniture eg: leather chairs and settee's.All in all we had a great holiday.
We came to Dreams with very high expectations for our wedding, especially since we live in "the wedding capital" Las Vegas. We had some unfortunate weather (Sept. 22nd) and woke up to a STORM. I was devastated at first but once my husband met with Carmen and Rebeca (decor) my mind was put at ease. Carmen exceeded our expectations and went above and beyond to make our day special. I cant thank Carmen and the staff at Dreams enough!! My wedding was perfect and it will forever be in our hearts. Carmen and her staff made our trip! I can wait to come back and visit!! :)
This was our first time at a dreams resort. We came with another couple from October 7 to October 14. The staff is amazing. The first day Sunday being a Packer fan we wanted to watch the packer game. I had questioned before about a sports bar or a tv to watch the game and was told they set up a tv by the tropical pool. No one knew anything about that ! However we kept asking people and one of the entertainment team suggested we try the tv in the preferred lounge. Now we did not pay for that service I'm thinking yah right. We go to the 7th floor and Merribell and Aldo said sure we can come in. Aldo could not find the channel so he rebooted and confirgured something on the tv that took about 15 minutes but he was able to make it happen. Thanks Aldo and Merribell. They gave us drinks and snacks and talked with us all the while we were there, Another day my friend had some stomache issues and Joshu from the breakfast buffet went into the back room to bring me some soda crackers to take to him. My friend loved the crunchy peanuts they serve up at the sunset bar so one day we were at the sugar reef bar (beach) and she mentioned she loved them peanuts so Jerry the bartender went to some restaurant and came back with a cup of them. Then after work that day he went to Walmart or some place and bought her 3 packs of them to bring back with her!! Wow what a guy. I have worked in customer service for 35 years and the other couple has their own business and let me tell you the employees here were the best we have ever encountered in any all inclusive we have gone to. We have been to over 20 resorts. The employees here bend over backwards to take care of the guests. The pools were great, three pools and plenty of lounge chairs. The beach was nice also with plenty of chairs.Food -- so so. Need a little more variety and the food kept hot. I had one of the best fillets at the seaside grill. Done to perfection and very tender. All restaurants were good just not exceptional.Entertainment at night need to be improved. A band every now and then or something. Everyone is not ready to go to bed at 9;30 -10. I'm not talking extreme just something for people to sit around and listen to. There is really no music during the day either. Very quiet!! And I'm 65.Joshu at the breakfast buffet was my favorite! He would watch for us everyday and have our table waiting for us.Shout out to the others Angel beach bar and pool, Angel night buffet waiter, Jerry beach bar bartender, Hector and Mario at check in counter, Jamie by the taxis, Hector at Portifino. All amazing. We will be back
Do your homework by reading many reviews before you visit this resort to know what to expect. Upon arrival we were giving a cool towel and glass of bubbly. Once checked in (5 minutes) you are seated with a staff member (Sergio) whose ultimate goal is to get you agree to attend a sales presentation on becoming a member in exchange for some free spa treatments or discount tours. Knowing that they were going to try this and not wanting to be bothered we booked all our activities online before traveling. We simply said that we were tired from traveling and just wanted to go to our rooms. Repeating that a couple of times and looking stern we were in your rooms within 10 minutes ready to enjoy our vacation. The rooms look exactly like pictured. We booked the king partial ocean view. The room was spacious and clean. Bring a small bottle of febreze to help eliminate the humidity smell in room. There is also incense in the room you can use as well. They have older tvs (19in) in the rooms connected to a dvd player. Few English speaking channels. There are lots of activities as described. Instead of movies on the beach they now show movies in the Explorer Club. This resort seems to caters towards kids. We were still able to have a great time. The resort has an adult only Jacuzzi and Restaurant (Portofinos) which is excellent. Service at Oceana is slow. Buffet is okay. Lukewarm at best. Room Service is great and a life saver. Beach front is clean and wonderful. Vendors travel up and down beach front. You can find better deals in Puerto Vallarta downtown area. The resort believes in saving the environment so you won't find any straws at this resort. We took paper straws that you can buy from Party City. No drinks in the pool. You can have them on the side of the pool. Gohan Bar/Restaurant is the best place to get a view of the sunset. This resort is super quiet after 10pm. Overall, a great vacation for the value.
