Dreams Villamagna is located on a nice stretch of beach and is surrounded by swaying palm trees and free form pools. Most tour operators rate the resort as 5 stars but recent negative feedback leads us to believe that it has gone downhill compared to the high standards of other Dreams resorts. There are probably better 5 star options in the area such as Riu Palace Pacifico, Marival Residences and Now Amber Resort. Hopefully the Dreams Villamagna will get back to the high standards that travelers expect from Dreams Resorts, but until that time expect this resort to be more along the lines of a 4 star resort.
rooms very big and clean all staff attentive and polite lots of activities to do if you wanted very relaxing all restaurant served excellent food location very quite but puerto vallarta within easy reach by taxi lots night life, restaurant and bars, shops thanks to Lupita for making the best flat white coffee and all the rest of the staff they was all excellent at there jobs and made you very welcome. oh and the waiter Gilberto in the world cafe.
We spent two weeks here with our two children (aged 6 and 3) and had a fabulous family holiday. The room was spacious and airy with a view over the swimming complex, beach and sea and always clean and tidy. We enjoyed all the restaurants and the seaside grill became a favourite. We were lucky that our kids enjoyed the kids club and went a few evenings meaning we could enjoy the adults only Italian where the food and service were excellent. The kids club was fantastic even our 3 year old who is often not keen to leave us loved it. The staff Antonella, Francia and Marabel were lovely and very welcoming, it was often difficult to tear our daughter away! The kids loved to middle swimming pool which had a large shallow area ideal for smaller children. We couldn't fault the service or friendliness of all the staff here especially the breakfast and entertainment teams(the kids loved Eduardo, Hervey and Kevin). We didn't eat in the sushi bar on level nine but had a few drinks here to watch the sunset. We were only a little disappointed by the Oceana restaurant which didn't seem to offer much in seafood and unlike the others menus the food wasn't as good. There was a variety of evening entertainment which we all enjoyed and programmed to suit families with most things ending by 9.30pm, the programme though is more suited to week long breaks and we found the the second week was a little repetitive. We had some family photos taken by Tony at Vallarta photos (on site) he was really lovely and patient with our crazy pair, and we have some fabulous photos to remember this holiday, thanks to him. The little on site cafe is great to grab a snack and a good coffee from if you don't fancy a big lunch which we did on several days. For people who run, there is a great off road track outside of the hotel which you can go in either direction and do a good 4/5 miles or you can run on the beach a similar difference. We did two trips with Vallarta Adventures which were fantastic and the Pirate ship adventure is an absolute must. We also did a canal trip which our rep booked for us with Captain George, this was a lovely hour or so trip exploring the canals on boat near to the hotel. All in all a great holiday and somewhere we would return to in a few years when the children are a little older so we can explore further. Lisa, Mike, Isla and Sennen Tame
So many reviews both good and bad its hard to know what to expect. So here's our view from a British couple who travel quite a lot.We stayed in Preferred Club. Easy check in on 7th floor with more champagne up there plus snacks too if we wanted. When booking I couldn't work out if it was worth the money and overall I would say probably not especially with 24 hour room service available. Beautiful clean room with lovely ocean view. Large room with all amenities required.Crisps and M&M's plus bacardi, whisky, vodka plus plenty of water, juice and sodas. We had no trouble getting a sunbed in the area we wanted by the pool closest to the beach. The pool wasn't heated but in the heat of the day that was a good thing. Good drinks service by pool and sporadic music coming from the beach bar during the day. We didn't think the drinks were watered down. Food was lovely. Didn't enjoy El Patio but all the other restaurants were good. Oceana at lunchtime was really lovely light ceviches for starters then whole cooked red snapper. Our favourite was Portafino as the choices there were really good.Instead of using the spa at the hotel which seemed a bit dear we went to the beach and turned right where you can find Pattys Spa after 100 metres or so. My husband had a great massage for $25 for 30 mins. They are doing a special offer of 2 x 1 hour massages for $55
Hi All, Took a risk, but Apple Vacations is worth it. They killing the game. Transportation to and from the airport. When you get to the air port keep walking! Plenty of sales people will try and intrigue you with hot deals, but make good choices! Make sure you grab a drink, as drinks are 1 USD outside the airport. If you're taking a bus be prepared to wait before departure, as you have to wait for other flights to land.Arrived at Dreams and was upset due to my luggage being splayed out in front the entire resort. Can you say intimates??? However you will be greeted with bubbly, and bar within steps away, and eager staff. BEWARE of the people in the middle of the lobby and the desk next to the bar. These are sales people that are trying to get you "hot deals" but are swindling and relentless. There was an innocent looking staff member who directed us after our check in, and we both regret it FULLY.About the stay:-Quiet resort-Pool closes at 8 pm but they aren't strict-Bathrooms are transparent, you will get to know your partner. If you're comfortable with your mate, this won't be bother some.-Furnishings were outdated but comfortable-Shower always had cold water, but we dealt with it-Balcony hot tub was enjoyable-24 hour room service was a perk-Food in general was sub par. Oceania was the best for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but the more casual side with "nachos" was like high school cafeteria food.-No need for a Tervis Tumbler, as the drinks are served in large plastic cups.-Disappointed in not having Tex-Mex chips, salsa, guacamole, nacho situation-Best part OCEAN AND BEACH-You can really walk for MILES! Barefoot, little to no rocks. Truly unbelievable! Not the case at every resort in PV! We went downtown and the rocks were in abundance and barefoot walking was a nuisance! OUCH!-Waves were amazingThe reviews talk about being an early riser to reserve chairs at the pool or beach, which is true, but no need to worry as they clear out by 330 or so. This will give you an opportunity to watch the sunset.-Sky bar is closed until the night, but is enjoyable to end the night with peanuts, olives, sushi, and a drink-If you want to want to save money skip the adventures and do a taxi day trip with your honey and explore (USE PESOS)You must spend a few days off of the resort, taking day trips to down town Puerto Vallarta and to Sayulita. Such an amazing experience and a questionable taxi ride away.We don't know if we would return as there are plenty of other places we want to explore, but we would and have recommended this resort to numerous people! This is review is brought to you by an amazing Saturday reminiscing about our trip! Enjoy and cheers!
This was our third stay at Dreams Villa Magna. Three years ago we stayed in the all inclusive section and the last two years we rented one of the 4 bedroom condos; this year for five weeks with our family and friends. The view of the mountains, ocean, and the hotel grounds are spectacular. The grounds are pristine with staff continuously manicuring, cleaning, and beautifying. There are three large pools: two large heated pools and one that is not heated. There are always lots of activities going on in the pools such as water volleyball, water aerobics, and water games. Aside from the pool you can play tennis, ride a bicycle, or take Zumba, exercise classes, Spanish lessons, tequila tasting classes, cooking classes, and so much more. The beach is sandy and very clean. You can walk for about an hour each way. There are excellent waves for boogie boarding - the boards are available to borrow. Occasionally, about 20 minutes down the beach, you can watch the baby turtles being released. Barb, a vacationer who is one of the volunteers, gives an excellent presentation too. What really makes Villa Magna our "go-to" place is the staff. Everyone is friendly, courteous, and helpful - all of them.... the security staff, the waiters, the bartenders, the cooks, the lobby staff, the maintenance crew, the housekeeping staff, and in particular the Entertainment Team. The Entertainment Team is EXCELLENT. They are athletic, funny, and genuine people. We had a great time with these energetic people headed by Ramon. Kevin, Hervey, Roberto, Jimmy, Elisa and Juan work long hours and have fun doing it. They are working when we arrive at pool side in the morning and are still busy when the evening show finishes around 10 p.m. We cannot speak for the restaurants at Dreams Villa Magna this year, although they were fabulous when we stayed in the all inclusive, but a 10 minute cab ride to Walmart provided our family with all of our shopping needs. Also, Costco is about a 30 minute cab ride. Every Tuesday, you can get fresh Grouper, Red Snapper, Mahi Mahi, Sea Bass and/or shrimp at the market behind the Casino / Hospital. Although we barbecued most of our meals we managed to go to some wonderful restaurants a short cab fare away. La Dolce Vita has fine Italian food and at a very reasonable price. Fajita Republic and La Dinamita, restaurants side by side are also close to the hotel. A 15 minute cab ride takes you to Bucerias. One restaurant recommended is Mezzogiorno. It is located on the water with a spectacular view. All the mentioned restaurants are popular so a reservation would be advised. Can't wait to return in 2018 to spend some relaxing time in the sun at Dreams Villa Magna!!!
