Grand Marival Resort and Suites
- What's Included
- All Inclusive Features
The Grand Marival Resort and Suites is an excellent resort that is very popular for families and couples. It also has great deals for golfers and for weddings as well. The rooms are big and there are lots of activities to choose from. Friendly staff. Nice beach and food. The Grand Marival is a good choice for a four star in Riviera Nayarit.
One of the largest resorts in the area, Grand Marival offers you a dazzling array of vacation options. Five restaurants means you will never suffer "buffet boredom". Even your post-dinner espresso or cappuccino is included. Sip your favourite drink at your choice of seven bars, one specializing in martinis! The array of activities is sure to please even the most antsy vacationer. Pilates, spinning, yoga, golf & tennis clinics ensure you can keep up your fitness regime from home, or discover a new passion. Grown-ups looking for quiet time will enjoy lazing by the adults-only pool. For kids and teens, there are supervised activities such as archery, mini-golf and even rappelling and rock climbing. Spacious suite accommodation is perfect for families!
Location: Beach front in Riviera Nayarit, 25 minutes to Puerto Vallarta, 15 minutes from the airport.
We stayed in a penthouse with a private pool. Not much you can say about that. When we first arrived however, they put us in a room that looked at the other side of the resort, not the ocean. That was very upsetting and disappointing considering I made it clear I wanted an ocean view. They called that an ocean view because you can turn your head sideways and see the ocean. If going to this resort I recommend against the all-inclusive. Their food is not very good.Upon arrival, we got shuttled into a room and offered a beverage. The people were very nice but we did not know we were being roped into a timeshare presentation. When that was confirmed we should have declined and walked out but instead we wasted 3 hours of our first day at the resort in this "90 minute" presentation. They want you to buy an interest in a property that you have not even had a chance to look at, be involved with or appreciate. I know this is common but be very aware of this - the "gifts" they offer aren't worth the waste of time unless of course you want to buy a timeshare. When we were leaving, we were "hijacked" for $650 pesos because my husband left a resort bracelet in his short that were already in our luggage. We were not told there was a charge for these bracelets as we were not checked in like normal resort guest - we were hijacked by timeshare people. The resort is beautiful but we had a lot of issues.
The Demi Pool rooms are great. You have reserved pool chairs off the patio in front of the pool. The pool staff (Ernesto is the best) come and check on you all the time to see if you want drinks, food, snacks. The temperature of the water is nice and warm. The hot tub is in a shaded private area. It's very calm at this resort, but if you want more activity just take the 2 minute ride to the sister resort. You can go to a club, Theater, beach games, beach dance party, VIP Beach Club. The food at Marival Residences is so good. Best food between the 2 resorts is Lemon Grass at Dinner Time. It's a new menu every night from an amazing chef. Guillermo is a great waiter over there. 2nd was Italian Night at Omaggio. 3rd might be Chilequiles in the morning. The rooms are huge.
If my husband and I were traveling here by ourselves this would be a different review, however since this was a family trip I cannot honestly say it is a good spot for families to vacation. While the resort itself is gorgeous and the rooms (we stayed in a 2-bedroom Penthouse Suite) were spacious, the whole place was just boring. No music was playing anywhere. When we inquired about that, they said they like to keep things calm and relaxing for visitors. I don't know about other people but listening to music is just part of being on vacation! The food overall was delicious, but was a little bit of room for improvement. Sometimes they tried to be a bit too "fancy and luxurious" and truly missed the mark. Simply flavors are usually the best, plus there is great seafood available in the area, why not serve more of that??!!! I do have to say that the servers are phenomenal! In addition, the Kids Club was NOT as advertised. This was the most disappointing part of our trip. We were told there was complimentary nanny services with our room and that there were regular activities for the children. Well, only one member of the staff even spoke English and he wasn't there during the activities he simply was the one who walked around the pool telling people that there was a movie night or magic show going to happen that night. Speaking of the movie night, they played Zootopia. But it was the Spanish version with English subtitles! My 6 year old was able to read them but how is a 3 year old supposed to follow a movie they've never seen that's in Spanish?! I understand we are in Mexico but they should have stated that when they advertised the Movie Night, otherwise we would have done something else with our boys for the 2 hours!!The pool is relaxing and the nearby sister resort with beach access is nice. We just like a little bit more for vacation and given the hefty price tag for this resort we expected more than just "boring."
They picked us up in a private Mercedes van from the small quaint Puerto Vallarta airport. Arrived to see a sign "Welcome DreamTrips" Check-in was easy and I don't recall having to give them a credit card. They gave us fresh moist towels to clean our hands and faces. The rooms are beautiful and modern and comfortable. One of the nicest places we've ever stayed in. The grounds are manicured and gorgeous. The pool is beautiful. The food and service are A+++ We plan on going back every year.
My wife and 9 year old daughter traveled to Marival during a busy spring break week. We were looking for a place where we could just chill. Marival fit all of our needs. A very relaxing pool side experience with good service every day. It was not too crowded, and we were always able to find some chairs. Our daughter met other kids and was able to play in the pool all day. The pool isn't too deep so its safe for kids. The food was very good, you had your choice of 3 restaurants per evening (or take an elevator up to Insu for small plates and the sunset, which is very enjoyable). Breakfast was table service or a buffet, omelettes, pancakes, fruit, whatever you wanted. The rooms were spacious and clean--however--the King mattresses was VERY hard (they replaced ours during our visit but it was still way too hard for us) and getting hot water to the shower is a lengthy experience. We used the concierge to book a zip line tour (be careful the bus ride to the zip line is a bit choppy with lots of exhaust) as well as a dolphin swim. They were very helpful. We didn't spend much time at the sister resort (too crowded and not nearly as nice as the Residences) but many folks told us the Beach Club was a great experience. All in all, we would highly recommend Marival if you're looking for a place to hang out with all of your needs taken care of throughout your stay. You can lay low at the resort or there are plenty of activities to book, but there's no pressure to do anything. Enjoy your time there!!
