New Years Trip to Iberostar Playa Mita 12/30/16 to 1/9/17

Stayed at the Iberostar Playa Mita from December 30th to January 9th. Loved the property (beautiful, grounds are well groomed and everything was clean), location (somewhat secluded and quiet), staff (helpful and friendly).Food: The food at the Al Carte restaurants was amazing. Japanese was our favorite. My one complaint would be that food that was supposed to be served hot at the buffet was not, just warm. It is not that we ever arrived late or right before closing it just seemed that the lights did not keep things warm. Drinks were great. Room: We had an ocean view room it was perfectly appointed, always clean and well stocked. Staff: Amazing the Star Staff was great always looking to get everyone involved. Concierges’ were amazing, thanks Candice for helping us with everything. Pool/Beach: Always easy to find a chair where you wanted it be. The pool was great. The ocean waves were such fun. The stretch of beach was amazing. My daughter ran ever morning and hardly saw anyone for 5 miles. Excursion: Went out from the property twice. Once to Las Calatas Beach Hideaway, great place would highly recommend. We even saw whales on our boat ride over. Then a day trip to Sayalita with the hotel transport, great fun to see a truly Mexican Village, fun shopping. New Year’s Eve: My only big complaint from the week was the New Year’s Eve activities. Yes, there were drinks in the lobby and a dinner buffet but no hats or things like that at your table that you would even know it was a different night. Yes. Later they did bring out stuff at the show but I think it could have been better. Thankfully we met some great people and had a lot of fun celebrating the New Year. Overall a great trip will definitely be back!

We have just returned home and I can't say enough good things about this resort the staff are very friendly and the food was excellent. The rooms were huge and had everything we needed! I felt extremely safe here and we did one side trip into sayulita and it was great too! Hope to return here someday soon! The Italian night was our favourite at the buffet

Christmas in Mexico

Beautiful resort about 45 minutes from Puerto Vallarta. Check-in went smoothly and we were in closest building to lobby.Oceanview room overlooked golf course and a corner of ocean. Room was average with small bathroom but little time spent in room. Pools were clean and beautiful. Kiddie's pool looked really fun and Kid's club looked awesome!Resort had Santa arrive on horseback and all children under 13 received a gift. There was a lovely Christmas gala dinner. Cuisine was excellent Christmas Eve with wide arrange of seafoods. Beach was great for walking and limited vendors on beach didn't bother guests. Entertainment staff kept people occupied at pools and bar servers were excellent. We went to Sayulita for an outing and enjoyed the beach and local artisans. We booked this outing through hotel concierge. We enjoyed the Japanese restaurant and were fortunate to go there twice. Chefs make it an interesting experience!Chef Aldo really tries to accommodate travellers and welcomes feedback about the food.. Cleaning staff worked very hard and appreciated being left a daily tip. They were very accommodating with extra toiletry items and towels. A vacation is what you make of it-this was a part of Mexico we had never been and wanted to experience a different resort.

Beautiful and clean resort. Service always with a smile. The Food was delicious, staff very accommodating. Never had to wait to be seated and that with two large groups staying there at the same time.

We rented a car at Sixt rent a car. Sixt picks you up at the airport in a shuttle and in 5 minutes you're at their business, they were very helpful and didn't gouge us at all, less than $100 for eight days. Then it's a 45 minute drive north to Iberostar. We used Google maps, checked out the route before we left the states, and were driving in the day time( about 4pm). If you have never been there I would definitely not recommend your first driving experience be at night. Plus there's no sign on the highway that says "Iberostar" but you can recognize it from google maps street view. Now for Iberostar! Oh yeah baby! The pool is great, swim up bar, activities, etc. The beach was also great, soccer, volleyball, small bar, just body surfing, swimming, kayak rental, not real good snorkeling because there's no reef. The beach was huge we did long runs every other morning, so pretty. There are very few vendors who won't even bother you unless you wave and greet them. It's a very empty beach which gives you a true get away feeling. If you want a busy beach in a cute town, Salyulita is only a fifteen minute drive. We went there on a Tuesday, paid a local $3 to park in his yard(he had signs and was easy to find, close to the river and surf shop). We also did a ten minute drive to Punta Mita for dinner one night, cool town as well. Iberostar also has evening entertainment which is worth a check. Service was great, we went all inclusive, and in the summer you get a bit of a break on the prices. Our favorite dinner restaurant was the Japanese. I can't believe how fresh our room would be even after we'd constantly go back and forth from the beach, our floor was clean and dry! All in all we had a great time would definitely go back! We stayed right on the beach, totally worth it, walked right out the sliding glass door onto the beach.
