Hector Reyes - Massage on the Beach

Hector and his crew were great. Awesome massage. I almost fell asleep. Great price too - $30 p/p, $50 couples. Hope to go again before I leave. The tent is located to the left on the beach. Try it, you won't regret it.

All what we want is to go back to this fantastic resort!

Just came back from our best vacation ever.We have been in all inclusive resorts in Cancun, Dominican and multiple regular ( not all inclusive resorts in US), cruises etc. so, we feel that we are able to make an unbiased review. This resort was recommended to us by a friend, who described it as a "best vacation in last 20 years".We absolutely agree.I will start from the most important thing to me - the BEACH.We live in Southern California, very close to the ocean. I had no idea that Pacific Ocean can be THAT warm! It felt like a nice relaxing bath ( I actually even wished it could be little bit cooler). Beautiful clear water. Very nice mild waves. My kids usually do not care much about the beach ( they go there all the time) and usually like resorts with nice pools. They were on the beach ALL THE TIME and had no desire to go to the pool ( which seemed nice too). Beach is very clean. One day waves brought lots of pieces of wood. Next morning everything was clean again.Iberostar is the only resort on this beach. So, it is not crowded at all.Stuff will bring you as many lounges and as many umbrellas as you wish. They constantly walk to you and ask you if you need any drinks etc. There is a bar at the end of the beach as well, so you can walk there and ask them to make you a drink. They make hamburgers, fries, hot dogs there too. I normally do not eat hamburgers, but these ones were delicious! They do have water sports on a beach as well, which we used and were very happy with. You can walk on a wet sand along the shore for a long time. Very pleasant!ACCOMMODATIONS:We stayed in beach front junior suit. My goodness! This is basically on a sand! We would open patio door and just walk couple steps to the water! We were offered to upgrade to ocean view on higher floors for $35/ night/ room, but we were not interested. We LOVED TO BE JUST STEPS FROM THE OCEAN. The only strange thing that I noted that there no net on any of patio doors, so we could not sleep with doors open to hear the ocean. And we would not want to keep it open because of various bugs, crabs etc., who would make it to our room.Cleaning service was twice a day and was great.I was not too impressed with idea of keeping an eye on beach towels and changing them ourselves in a "towel house", but that was not a big deal for us.FOOD:Wow! Buffet was awesome every single time we ate there. Even ambience was like in a restaurant with white tablecloths, nicely served tables and great service. Enormous variety of food! Impossible to try everything! Every night is a different theme. International , Mexican, Japanese, Italian, Spanish, Tex- Mex, oriental .We had no problems booking specialty restaurants.Mexican was just ok. Buffet food was better.French was great! Nice ambience , great food.Best was Japanese. Excellent food and extremely entertaining! We did not go to steak house as reviews were not too great and we loved buffet too much.Coffee shop is beyond any words! We love good coffee and we were able to have it every day! Double, triple expresso, cappuccino etc. All included!Apart from that they have a buffet next to the pool open for lunch and they were cooking something right next to the pool every day ( like tacos, BBQ etc)Nice bar with life music next to the lobby.ENTERTAINMENT:Different show every night. Best was circus, but all of them pretty entertaining.Busy schedule every day with yoga, bingo, dancing, Zumba, darts, air guns, archery, ping pong etc. Tournaments with medals etc. Games at the pool. Tennis courts. We had lots of fun. There is a swim up bar at the pool, but we did not really use it as we did not really spend any time in the pool.GROUNDS are beautiful, very well kept. Just make you feel you are in paradise. They have a SPA. Looks nice. We did not book any services. You can go there for 1 hr a day for free. We did. It was nice. But beach was nicer. We went zip lining to Vista Paraise 10Min from the hotel and LOVED IT! Breathtaking views and superb service! ( and I've done zip lining in the past)Please, tip these wonderful people, who work there and making your stay memorable. Thanks a lot Iberostar! We are already planning our next stay!

Family fun in the sun (10/8 - 10/13/2017)

We just returned from a 5 night stay at Iberostar playa mita and had a fabulous time vacationing at our first resort. We have a 4 year old daughter and we booked this resort because of the kids play area and its proximity to the main pool and the nice beach. Since this is our first resort we don't have any comparisons but I'll base the review on our family's experience. We arrived to the resort by way of Guadalajara. We used Vallarta Plus to get us to Bucerias ($100 for 3 people) and a taxi for the 30 minute ride to the resort (400 pesos). We would recommend using a luxury bus line if you are traveling from another part of the country. It was very comfortable, great way to see Mexico, and have connections to many parts of the country. From my understanding the early to mid October time is still low season since it may rain and is very humid. Accommodations: we chose a beach front junior suite because of the proximity to the ocean and the extra outdoor space. We had room 3010 which is a corner room and gives views of the ocean rather than the wall, only one shared wall with neighbor, easy access to a washing station to rinse sand off, and early access to reserve the best spot on the beach. Because of our four year old we asked for a room with a tub. We had to decide if having a king size bed was more important than the tub, we chose the tub. The shower has a removable shower head so I think that we could have made the shower situation work. The room had a table that sits 4 and a couch. We were happy with our room and would chose it again when we return. KEEP IN MIND: beach front rooms with tubs are only available in a two bed option. These rooms are further away from the main lobby area but close to the pool and a couple of eateries (beach hamburger stand and pool buffet). We were okay with walking to the lobby area since we walked over there 2 times daily tops. Food: the breakfast buffet choices were ample and everyone could find something to enjoy. We mostly ate lunch at the poolside outdoor grill which had varying daily options or the beach side hamburger stand since the poolside buffet required us to be dry to go in and we were enjoying the pool too much. On our last day we did go to the poolside buffet and I regret not enjoying that more. I could have saved myself the trip to the lobby buffet for breakfast and gotten to the pool sooner. The specialty restaurants were good but Americanized. We were still able to enjoy them. Mexican had good chicken mole and corn soup and don't miss out on the buffet appetizers even your picky eaters can find something there to enjoy. Japanese restaurant was good. Our firstdaughter liked the glass noodle soup. Sushi was good and tasted fresh. The"benihana" style show was nice too. The other specialty restaurant we tried was the so called French cuisine. It was good food but not really French other than the small but satisfying portions. I had the snapper and my husband the lamb, we were both happy with our selections. The dinner buffet we had on our third night was nothing spectacular. Breakfast and lunch options are better at the buffet. The other reason we chose a resort was to have food options for our daughter and she always found something to eat. KEEP IN MIND: we had to pay for a babysitter to enjoy French restaurant as kids younger than 12 are not permitted. Resort amenities: we were there to relax as I was coming from 6 days of working in Guadalajara so we didn't enjoy many of the amenities. The children's pool area was great. Our daughter enjoyed it and so did we. I participated in one of the water aerobics classes which was fun. My husband went to the gym, his complaint was that the weights had no actual weights only the bars. We attended one late night family show, 80s/90s pop. It was entertaining since there's nothing else to do on the resort. Our daughter enjoyed it and we could drink. We used the childcare services which are provided by either the concierge, kids club, or external staff. We were told all staff is CPR trained. We were charged $15 an hour (low season prices) which we had to pay in US dollars but we tipped her in pesos. If reservations are made to run after 11pm then you must pay for sitter's taxi back home. Childcare reservations must be made a day in advance. We received notification of our babysitter's name the same night we reserved. I called concierge the following day and found out she was part of the concierge staff and was only working 4 hours that day. I was concerned we would have someone that had a whole day shift at the resort and was putting in overtime taking care of our daughter. Our sitter was Jackie and she was great! My daughter loved her. She was really sweet and we got a great vibe from her as soon as we met her. This is the first time we used a sitter service so we were nervous but Jackie put us at ease. She even exchanged cell #s with us. We never checked in on them and my husband and I had 3 hours of adult time. Day trip: we took a cab ride to Sayulita (400 pesos) to meet up with friends that were staying there. 4 hours is enough time to enjoy the area. It's very touristy and the beach is full of vendors. We're glad our friends were renting a house in the area where we could hang out. Our goal was to release turtles but a thunderstorm came upon us and we couldn't go to the release. KEEP IN MIND: we did not use the resort's tour service to Sayulita but rather got a cab on our own. The resort tour brings back by 4pm and the turtle release takes place at 7pm. There are plenty of taxis in the main plaza you could easily take one back to the resort.Tipping staff: we tipped every chance we got. The staff is wonderful and they went above and beyond to ensure we had a comfortable stay. We tipped the cleaning staff 40 pesos per day, buffet 20 pesos, pool wait staff 25 pesos for the time we were at the pool, and specialty restaurants depending on service. Pros: wonderful location, great service staff, expansive grounds but not overwhelming, pool is nicely designedCons: one elevator that accommodates 8 adults to go from beach front suites to pool/lobby area, which is shared by staff and guests. I could see this being a real issue during peak season. Food was Americanized and not very authentic. I wish there was more authentic Mexican food available on the resort. Pool/beach towels can only be exchanged at one location near the pool so if you're at the beach you have to ride up 4 stories to get clean towels. Information from concierge was misguiding at times. Overall we had a wonderful time and would return. More importantly this resort has made us consider staying at other all inclusive resorts for future vacations. If your are considering this resort for the first time add yourself to the Facebook group "Iberostar playa mita visitors". The woman who runs the group has created files with very useful information.

Four Families of Fun

We had 4 families from Nevada, as all kids were on an October break. What a trip! We felt comfortable enough to let our kids run around the resort and do their own thing. Thanks to Sonia and Nancy in kid's club and with entertainment. The concierge staff was great, especially Andy and Aaron. Aldo, the chef, was especially gracious to us - my kiddo has food allergies and he helped us every meal. Thanks for such a fun time!
