Simply beautiful

Very clean resort. It's a very secluded resort which was fine by me. The food was good, and quite a nice assortment. Beautiful swimming pool with lots of activities. Music not too load which was comforting.

2nd Visit

This was our 2nd visit, 1st visit was xmas 2015 and the hotel had only been opened about 7 months, the service then was second to none. This visit not so much.When we arrived we upgraded to a sea view room, the room is larger and the view was amazing.The maid service this time around was hit and miss, we found that it depended on how much you tipped the maid to how the room was done! not much tip say 50 - 100 pesos a day got you the basic cleaning, frigde wasn't restocked or the coffee, where as if you left 200 pesos a day you got it all including the towel art! We also found that the upkeep of the hotel had gone down, mould round the bath, walls needed re painting in the room, also the stair wells were often dirty and in need of a paint job.We went to all the restaurants twice and I have to say that these were really good hence why we went twice. The best was the French. The buffet was good with plenty of choice but the waiter service let this one down, you got a drink when you first sat down but after that it was a struggle to get another drink. It was very busy though. The waitress service by the pool was good apart from one waitress who really shouldn't be working in hospitality as she couldn't crack a smile....but all the others were lovely. The entertainment around the pool was good but on the second week got a bit repetitive as its the same as the first with the same jokes...All this being said we still had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay, would I go back probably not.

overall we still had an amazing time

When we first got there, we had a reservation through cheap Caribbean for 3 rooms. They only had our reservation for 2 rooms. The manager Adriana did seem to even care when we asked to talk to her. I was concerned that we paid for 3 rooms and only getting 2 room. All she said was call the company we booked our reservation through and that there is nothing she can do as they have no other rooms available. We asked for the number or contact information for her manager- she refused to give it to us- stating that she is in charge of the front desk at that time. After that any time we seen her she always gave us dirty looks. Isaac the front desk clerk was able to calm us down and called the company for us, as we were unable to call out on our cell phones. The company we booked it through did say they would make sure that we would only be charged for the 2 rooms instead of 3 and make sure we would get a refund for the other room. Isaac also upgraded our room to a beach walk out room- which was great, it was so nice to be so close to the beach, me and my friend even ended up taking a walk on the beach at 4am 1 day. Isaac and the manager the next day were very nice and they made our group reservations for the japanese restaurant and the mexican restaurant. All the staff was super friendly. 1 day when we got back we even had chocolate covered strawberries in our room. however if you go on any day trips to caletas beach, they did end up double booking massages and putting the wrong times in the computer for our facials, part of our group was not able to do anything else except for the massage when they were there, they should have had 45mins left for other activities such as snorkeling but when they went down to do that, they were not allowed because they were starting to put everything away- the employees also had to get the boat that leaves at the same time. The dolphin adventure was amazing and my other friends also really liked the horse back riding. the only other bad part was the elevator that was close to our room, had a horrible smell like raw fish- we think it was just the carpet that got wet- but they really need to pull it up. the pull was warm, clean and beautiful, the ocean was even clean and the water was warm, the entire place for the most part was very beautiful, ,any great areas to take pictures- the food was good- even if you didn't like something there was plenty other stuff to choose from. The waiter Alejandro ( I think) was also friendly and funny and great to our group when he waited on us- he was definitely our favorite waiter.

Poor service

We were there first week of August 2017. The hotel looks good. The pool is great. The only problem most of the people I talked to was the service was very poor. Being a busy hotel they don't have big restaurants and big buffet counters. People were waiting 5 to 10 minutes in the morning to be seated. Once we were seated no body would come to ur table to pour water or juice or even give you cutlery. We had to go and get our own juice or even go to the waiter to give us some decent service. Once they help you and that is it. Seems like they were short of staff in all the services like house keeping. Cooks and waiters. Waiting at the buffet was ridiculous. Long line ups. Sometimes when I ask for an omelette it's under cooked bcse the cooks are busy trying to get you fast and out. They need a big buffet counter. They need a big restaurants. They need more staff. We tip very generously. This time I saved lots of my tip money bcse the SERVICE WAS BAD. How many times do I have to explain myself. Yea we were there and we couldn't get into any speciality restaurant becausei it was booked for the whole week. This is madnesses. I hate the service. This is the picture of line ups I am talking about.

Great resort for the whole family who enjoys a variety of activities.

We are a family group of eight ranging from 9 years old to 75 years old and there were daily activities for everyone. I was impressed by the customer service provided by the whole staff and especially want to recognize the Star Friends (entertainers) Nancy, Rubi, Marco, Alex, Milton, Victor and Isabel who were very gracious, knew us all by name and made our trip that much better with engaging us to participate in multiple activities. Our housekeeper, Norma, was excellent. The food was better than expected and Aldo was a great chef. The pool area bartenders, Rogelio etc al, took very good care of us. The only knock I have on the resort is encouraging the guests to make reservations. We were not able to get reservations earlier than 9pm ish for dinners at any of the restaurants, but were able to walk into most restaurants at 7pm, with giving the restaurant captains tips. Did I say we were a family of 8? We were never able to get reservations or walk into the French restaurant, even with seeing 10-15 seats open. This was the only frustrating part of the trip. I was told by one of the captains that they want to keep a low ratio of tables to wait staff to provide the excellent customer service, which I can completely understand. I do suggest hiring more wait staff, especially during the busy season, in order to accommodate the guests who have paid really good money to come to your resort and have good meals without the hassle or frustration.I'm rating the review as "very good" versus excellent just due to the restaurant reservation piece of this. Finally, please remember to tip the staff, bartenders, waiters, taxi drivers, bell boys, housekeepers, restaurant captains, etc. They all work 12 hour days, 6 days a week and our US dollars go a long way to help them make ends meat. Bring lots of $1 bills for tipping.
