We just got back home today..This resort is beautiful until you get to your room.. They are super small and out dated..WE upgraded to the Presidential Oceanfront and The air stopped working 2 time They wouldn't even send someone to fix it..They never did turn down service . Never did cleaning service unless you called Mini bar is a joke food in a few of the restaurant we're good othen than that its just sub par. Good luck trying to get a reservation for any restaurant...I ask to speak with head hotel manager 3 different times and was just bounded around to hotel clerks. Service is the worst I have every seen no one is happy to be there. If you just want to hang out at the pool bar and drink the bottom of the barrel liqueur NO TOP SHELF...Then this is the place for you...There is nothing to do around the resort and there are no close towns to vist...
We booked our trip with Doylestown Travel using Apple Vacations. We stayed at Playa Mita in Riviera Nayarit in March 2017.Playa Mita is a Welcome Delight! The Staff is Warm & Friendly. They Treat You like you are Family! The View of the Sierra Madre Mountains and Banderas Bay will make you feel like you have a bit of Heaven on Earth.I have many disabilities and allergies, but I was able to enjoy my meals and Suite.Having An Apple Representative at the Resort is a Great Plus too.
My sister and I with our 3 teens traveled for 6 days. The resort is immaculate. The beach and surrounding jungle are beautiful. We spent most of the time at the pool because it was HOT! We did a day trip to Sayulita which is such a cute town, but the heat was unbearable. The food was standard. We really liked the Japanese! Plenty to do during the day and the evenings shows were pretty funny. With this resort being so far out... we really wanted more to do in the evenings. Maybe a full game room, bingo or movies? The maid service was so good and the check in process was the best we have had! The whole trip was super easy... even customs and the airport. Aside from the few bug bites I am bringing home, it was a wonderful vacation!
We had a great time at Iberostar Playa Mita. We had an ocean front room which was spacious and clean. We liked that there was always something available to eat even if just snacks. The staff was friendly and were attentive. What we didn't like was that they only offer XX and have no other beer options. Other than that we are pleased with the hotel and will definitely go back. The hotel is about 45 minutes away from Puerto Vallarta but it's worth it. It's more of a relaxed environment.
I will start by saying this is a lovely hotel. Very large. Newish and very well kept. Nice garden areas and golf course. We had a standard room. We were first offered a room with two beds that we rejected and requested a room with a double bed. Unlike other reviewers, we were not offered an upgrade option. Guess they think the Brits won’t want that! Anyway, all rooms are the same layout, just some have a view the ocean. The rooms had no drawer space for undies etc. Putting stuff on one of the little shelves isn’t the same. Clothes hangers were another issue. 5 wood hangers for a couple for 2 weeks. I asked for more and they were totally amazed. Sometime later they brought some wire ones which did the job but were not what we expected.. The TV’s were a little small for the size of the room. Whilst I appreciate you do not go away to watch TV, it would have been nice for a few more English speaking options. Rooms smelt really badly of damp and mould and it caused me issues with my asthma. Clothes had to be washed several times on return to be rid of the smell. Rooms were cleaned daily and additional fresh towels each evening if you wanted them. Fridge had soft drinks beer and water which was replaced daily. We were not bothered by time share people (again that will be down to us being Brits and not being expected to have cash to splash). The hotel is family friendly which is nice if you have kids. However, a lot of the kids there were out of control. Simple things like don’t run around the pool and don’t “bomb” people went by the by. Adult encouraged their kids to jump from the big pool into the small one which was not anywhere near deep enough for that. I did not see a life guard the whole time we were there. I did like you could take “inflatables” into the pool and purchased one at the kiosk. $17 USD this was steep!. The pools were over chlorinated and burnt your eyes but given the amount of adults and kids in there I imagine that it the level that is needed. I also thought the kids had their own pool and should have been in it! However, adults and their drinks in hand clearly wanted their kids I the pool with them. Another mean would be the individuals who brought their own music to play through speakers around the pool. It was clearly marked that you should not do this………however…………I found the staff to be ok but no more. There were one or two exceptions. The nice towel guy and a couple of the waitresses around the pool who were friendly and helpful. I made sure they were well tipped for their good service. Star Friends worked hard and earned their money. We joined with a couple of the organised things like table tennis which was fun. We tried to play tennis but were told it was in use and they only had one racket. (We only needed one as my other half had his). The Courts were not in fact in use at all. Courts are ok but obviously play early or late given the heat. We found reception staff to be hit and miss and you sometimes felt that you were inconveniencing them.We would agree with other reviewers that the food in the buffet is poor. Unless you happened to be there when fresh food came out - it was generally cold. Not a particularly good choice. I found it hard to find anything to eat. The whole place is like a cattle ground, people charge at you. A bit like a smash and grab raid. Tables were not cleared quickly enough and it appeared that there was not enough staff to do this. Thus, in the mornings you had to queue up to gain entry. The steak restaurant was easy to book… although not good. We went twice. My chicken was not cooked properly. I was unwell the next day and I ate very little of it. Japanese restaurant was impressive we enjoyed that and the food. We wished we had pushed to get in earlier in our stay. There was an impressive theatre for kids disco type thing and adult evening entertainment. We went to the adult disco once - only to be amazed by the amount of little kids and toddlers running around at after 11:00 p.m. and the naff music. We didn’t bother going back.We did not buy anything in the shops as they were massively overpriced.Beach was small (in depth) but as long as you could see. My other half walked daily (often in the hope of seeing the crocs that reside further down the beach). I preferred to stay up the top.Gym was small and usually quite busy. Spa was over-priced so not used.I would give the hotel 3.5 Not a 5* by any means. Not quite a 4* being let down by food and rooms.Another guest told me that you either like the Iberostar Chain or the Rui… I think I am a Rui girl.
