Didnt have to finish my time here to write my review. I've seen enough to rate this resort. Resort grounds are beautiful and well kept. The lobby is amazing and decor fits the area/region. The beach area can use a little trash removal from the sand.Rooms are nice with quality bath amenities, didnt see the need for a soap and shampoo dispenser in the shower filled with the cheap soap. Did find sand in my toilet and a hair on the front of the toilet seat upon checking in. I called for housekeeping to clean the toilet and seat. The hair wasnt removed again. My wife ended cleaning it off with a Clorox wipe.Staff top notch but not enough of them. Saw a guest buss her on table as she was meeting with a hotel sales person. The pool bar staff is a little to flirty with one another, would be nice if they kept personal interactions out of guest sight and concentrate on the guest. Now to the food, it's bad!!!! I've had all inclusive food at The Westin Resort Playa Conchal Costa Rica and its far better than this. On the first day all the food was salty in the Mexican Restaurant, the mole, my wife's enchiladas and my replacement dish the stake tampiqueño was also salty. Breakfast buffet was overwhelming, too many choices and the buffets are a mess. The hot food is lukewarm, The bacon a crumbly mess, the scrambled eggs were grey, Fruit juices watered down, and coffee is terrible. The French toast was thin, waffles and pancakes hard and tasted like cardboard. Lunch buffet near the pool more of the same. Cold food, cheese on pizza was hard. Westin Costa Rica had a pool side pizza restaurant with ovens, pizza fresh to order. On to room service, they leave items off the food that are mentioned on the menu. My texas burger was a mess, not assambled carefully and was missing mushrooms, my wife's carbonara was gray and unappetizing, cesar salad was the star of the show.The room service order i just received was what made me finally write my review. I ordered a simple apple pie the menu states warm and served with vanilla sauce. Well it showed up cold on a cold plate and tasted like a old refrigerator, and the server didnt bring cutlery. I called to tell them the issue and re ordered the pie and added a cheesecake. When the new order got here the server informed me they were out of cheesecake he brought me a brownie instead, the apple pie was again cold and without vanilla sauce. My wife was disappointed she didn't get the dessert she wanted before bed. Moving on to the alcoholic beverages, they are awful. Light on alcohol and the mixers coming out of the guns taste bad. Club soda here tastes like tonic water, it's not clean or crisp. All carbonated drinks taste like they have bad tonic water in them. I think I'll stick to Marriott resorts for all inclusive when possoble.I always see General Managers reach out to guests after they are gone. I check out september 19th the last name is Ruelas on the reservation.
What can we say about this hotel & its staff - from the moment we checked in we were made to feel welcome!!! From Carlos (Reception), Isobel (bar waitress), Jesus (Concierge), Marichuy (our chamber maid), Cecilia (photographer) through to the entertainers: Alex, Daniel, Marco, Rubi, Isabella, Milton, Eduardo, Oswaldo & Vicktor. Our room was stunning with a queen sized bed, mini fridge (restocked every day), large bathroom with shower and amenities. Plenty of wardrobe space with iron & ironing board!! With all day entertainment arranged by Alex and his team you just had to let your hair down and join in the activities - they were always great fun. From Yoga, water aerobics, salsa & merengue lessons, bingo through to archery, darts, kayak racing in the pool - with prizes!! Food was excellent with always plenty of choice in all restaurants - try the Japanese!! We were fortunate to be there during the celebration of Mexico's Independence - Viva Mexico! Entertainment every evening also with prize giving for the day's winners. Thank you for giving us a wonderful 2 week holiday - met loads of new friends - would definitely recommend and go back.
It was the place that I stayed there the food was the best and the service was the best the people were nice the burgers were the best thing there and the fries I hope you guys like it was was was the best
The Punta Mita Hotel was nice, upgraded to a Jr Suite with ocean view but was really not worth the price IMO as every view in the hotel is great. Had a horrible and scary experience with the taxi drivers at the resort but will get to that later let me review the hotel first.The rooms are decent size, clean but the housekeeping staff is not constant. Never got the bathroom amenities replenished which included mosquito repellent and body lotion just got some on the first day and would have been nice to have. Turndown service only happened twice on a 7 day stay.The pools are very nice, especially the kids pool. The only issue we had is we went with another couple and three small children and there were kids in the kids pool that were around 12 or older just jumping on the slides running down the smaller kids and no one would do annoying about it. We spoke with the hotel staff as there were two kids one day that almost trampled our 2 year old and they did nothing about it.Now to the issues we had. When arriving at the hotel we had to use Uber as our first method of transportation fell through and we were 4 adults and 3 children under 5 and it was scorching. We had not researched and did not know about the issues with the taxi union and Uber since it was not our first option just a quick fix. We though nothing of it as the drivers were professional and the cars were clean so we hired him for the way back. Thats were the issue happened. The hotel did not warn us that their in-house taxis which reside on the premises did not like that Uber is in the area. So what happens is the bell desk notices we used Uber and asked us about it when we arrived but mentioned nothing. Then on our last day there, we let the bell desk know that Uber was going to pick us up. They said ok and they would drive us to the edge of the property which was 50 feet from the lobby to meet them as they could not enter the property, no issues there as that is regular with Uber. After the Uber drivers picked us up, the taxi drivers which seemed to be alerted by the bell desk amassed at the gate. They then waited until we got the on the highway and went on to follow us and drive us off the road with three taxis. Once they ran us off more taxi drivers who had removed their Iberostar shirts for resort met up with the rest. It was about 6 taxi drivers vs two Ubers and us the passengers. They then confronted the drivers and asked us to get out in the middle of the highway with three children 1, 2 and 4. We refused, told them we had the right to use any transportation we wanted and asked them to move the cars and let us pass, they said they would not. They then confronted the drivers and made them open the trunks of the cars and proceeded to remove our luggage and loaded it to one of the taxis. After 20 minutes of arguing, we were pretty much forced to ride with them. Remember these are taxi drivers under agreement with Iberostar that reside on the premises and use uniforms for the hotel that waited in the secure area of the resort until we were on the highway to run us off the road. Thankfully they did not make us pay them for the ride but the whole way they handled the situation is unacceptable.
We absolutely loved 99 percent of our stay at the Iberostar Punta Mita. This was our first time staying at an all inclusive and the first time using United Vacations. Because of Harvey and living in a suburb of Houston, it was a unique experience. Our 5 day vacation was extended to 10 days. Perhaps it is because we are older and inexperienced international travelers, but the process of extending our stay and securing tickets for the return flight was extremely stressful. The United Vacations representative at our hotel (who we did not even know existed until Kim, the Iberostar PR person escorted us to him) was polite, but not helpful. He said we had to work through the hotel. The hotel said we had to work through the agency. Finally, after emailing United Vacations Help line, a Kristen answered very kindly and contacted the hotel in emails which motivated the hotel to offer us the hurricane distress rate. We loved the ambience of the hotel. With the exception of a couple front desk gentlemen, everyone was friendly, kind, and helpful. Because we chose to participate in activities such as yoga, water aerobics, salsa dancing, ping pong tournaments, pool volleyball, we really got to know and like the Star Family Staff. Victor, Milton, Nancy, and Ruby became friends. Milton actually joined us for breakfast in the restaurant by the pool on several days. Two of the concierges that really stood out were Ana and Jesus. After sharing difficulties I was having with WIFI and my phone, Jesus offered to look at my phone and in a couple minutes had it operating properly. Our housekeeper Veronica was so sweet and efficient. We had upgraded to an ocean front room (not junior suite) 2153. My husband would gave preferred 3rd or 4th floor, but we were told they were unavailable. We loved being able to go out on our balcony and hear the waves. Our view was marred by the open roof VIP area directly below, but it was still beautiful. And our location was good, a short walk to the pool or beach. It was a longer walk to the lobby and restaurants, but covered and actually a good thing with so much good food and drink. We loved walking on the beach, even though it was not the cleanest. We felt that was one area the Iberostar could improve upon...taking care of their beach and the walk to it. We are not picky eaters and we loved most of the food. We preferred the restaurants and had no difficulties getting reservations. Pacific Express was our favorite but the Mexican was a close second. We also loved the lobby bar at night, especially when they had live music. The swim up bar was great, too, and always busy, but the amazing bar tenders were fun to just watch trying to keep up with the orders, always with a smile. We met so many wonderful people from all over. It's a great place for families and I would love to return with our kids and grandkids. We would highly recommend the Iberostar!
