We arrived at the PVR airport around 3 pm. A word of caution from Filipe, our transportation contact from the resort, Playa Mita, was absolutely on point. After you pickup you luggage, you have to go through a gauntlet of sales people. They will try to sell you various excursions in the area. Do not show them any emails you’ve received from the resort even if they ask you. Do not worry! Once you walk out of the airport exit doors, there is an area for taxi and limo service. If you’ve planned ahead of time with Filipe there will be a driver holding a placard with our name. He will take you to the resort. It’s about a 45 min drive to the resort. The resort itself is somewhat secluded and gated. At check-in we upgraded to the ocean view rooms for an extra $350 for our stay. This was a discounted price, since one of the 5 restaurants on the property was under reconstruction and unavailable….yep! the steak house. The upgrade allowed us to use the spa and the rooms, we were told, were a bit bigger. Our rooms were very accommodating. View of the ocean was breath-taking. Minibar was always full of beer..not a bad selection. Bathrooms were very clean and toiletries were plenty. After settling down a bit, we met our friends for drinks on the terrace. Definitely no skimping on the booze especially Jameson and Tequila shots….mixed drinks were watered down but, by the pool, the service was constant. The staff was excellent. Chef Aldo, entertainer Mario, bartenders, and waiters were very engaging and requested opinions on how they could serve us better. The 1. Japanese, 2. French, 3. Buffet, and 4. Mexican restaurant, in that order, were tasty and enjoyable. Men, don’t bother bringing a jacket to the French restaurant….a nice shirt and slacks will do. It only made us wonder what the Steak House that was under construction would have been like. For the kids there was plenty of entertainment but the only thing they wanted to do was play in the pool or on the sandy beach….bring lots of sunscreen. Our kids were exhausted by the end of the day and at times they did not make it through the evening entertainment which was almost Vegas-style-amazing for a small resort. Another note of caution....be very careful navigating the property when it rains. The floors get very slippery. A few people ended up getting bruised from nasty falls, sober or not sober. Perhaps the resort should place rubber mats on well travelled areas exposed to the elements. All in all we were very happy with the resort. At the end of 6 days we were sorry to leave. The shuttle took us back to the airport. Aah, Playa Mita! What a great vacation!!!
We had such an amazing time at Iberostar Playa Mita. I have to first say the staff was beyond amazing. They worked so hard and always had a smile on their face. Our concierge Victor was AMAZING!!! Our luggage was lost and he worked on it until we received it. Felipe was always amazing in helping with our luggage issue. The star friends were so fun and always working so hard. We enjoyed the nightly shows. The food was pretty good. The facility was beautiful!!! We will be back for sure!!! Thanks to all at Iberostar.
Excellent resort. Everyone from the front desk to the maids and bartenders and servers were friendly, professional and efficient. The resort itself was beautiful and I was very impressed by how well maintained and clean it was. Didnt matter what time of day it was, you would always see it being scrubbed from top to bottom. The food was decent, quite a variety at the buffet, and the a la carte restaurants were very good.Beach was nice, and kept very clean. Servers would come to your beach chair to bring you drinks. (Always a plus!) My boyfriend and I look forward to coming back in the near future. Thank-you Iberostar for a excellent vacation. !! :)
My husband and I just returned from a 7 day stay at this resort. There are many good things to say and some others to keep in mind if you're thinking of staying here. The resort is about 45-60 minutes away from the airport and is not near other resorts. The great thing about this is the beach is all yours! Really the only people on the beach were from the resort. The downfall is if you want to check out the city(or even do excursions) you have to pay a taxi or an additional transportation fee. We had to pay an extra $30 for each excursion. (Speaking of excursions, the city tour is great!)The food on the buffet is okay. Definitely had better at other resorts. However, the restaurants are really good-especially the French and steak house. Delicious! When you check in, staff will try to get you to upgrade your room. Since this was a special occasion for us (anniversary), we upgraded to an oceanfront room. The view was amazing. Definitely worth it to us! But save your money and upgrade at the resort. It was cheaper than selecting the better room when booking the resort. There were quite a few kids at the resort, which was a surprise to us. They do have a special kid area and pool, but kids were in the main pool as well. The resort is very well maintained. Very clean and well kept. The staff are great. Very helpful and friendly. The star friends staff are a lot of fun. There are a variety of activities to do throughout the day. Overall, we had a great time and would recommend this resort. The biggest downfall was how far away we were from the city and excursions.
My sister & I treated our Mother to a 8 day stay for her 75th Birthday. We were very pleased with EVERYTHING!!! The grounds are nicely manicured & clean. Elegant & laid back, fancy & casual. The restaurants & food great. The pools, bars, Lobby, clubs, fun, clean, entertaining & relaxing. The rooms are nice (we were in building 2, with a ocean & pool view)~ A little small for 3 adults, but we didn't spend much time there~ Bathrooms, small for 3 ladies trying to get ready, but ok. Beaches are great for walking, soft clean sand no shells or seaweed. With high tides not many beach chairs, but water was rough, red flag daily, a couple days reduced to a yellow. There is a elevator to get down to the beach other wise a bit of a workout to get to with paved hill/stairs. Plenty of CLEAN, shaded (or not) pool lounge chairs. Very strict rule on NO saving chairs before 9am, so don't even think of doing it. Entertainment & games very fun & entertaining. Staff awesome from check in to check out & everything in between. HUGE shout out to Mario, Ely, Nancy, Karen, Rubio the Friend Star entertainment staff that ROCKED EVERYTHING~ kind, funny, personable, beautiful Staff. Nightly entertainment was good to great (one kiddy show 1st night, which should be saved for the daytime~ Night show is for ADULTS!!!) Lots of kids running around for the 9:30 pm show. I hope I didn't leave anything out~ I would go back in a heart beat. Thank you Iberostar for making my Mom's 75th birthday totally amazing~ She was treated very special.
