Not on the beach or even close. Can't see or hear ocean from the pool. $54 to get from airport to hotel and $12 to get back to airport. $26 to Punta Mita and $70 to get back. Rate quoted before arriving in dollars was not what was charged to credit card upon return. Had to disuse charge with AE. Screaming kids relieving themselves in the too small pool all day. Parents not caring. Not enough shade. Won't go back.
Okay just pure observations here. No subjective reviews. The not so good: If you like children and I mean a lot of children this place is for you. No peace and quiet to be had. No adult pool. Also you are 200 yards from the beach, but you have to take a shuttle or walk over a half a mile to gain access to the beach due to private homes between the resort and the beach. Top shelf liquor, NO. If you want Grey Goose or Patron, etc, you will pay for it. You get bar pours. Wine served is poor, if you want a bottle-you pay. Pool is small for this size resort and a lack of umbrellas. Had a 1 bedroom Penthouse. Room is very nice, the bed is like a slab of concrete. Why they have not changed them after all the comments is beyond me. The plunge pool you have with the penthouse is not heated, of no use to us. Charged my Amex Platinum in pesos, would not charge in dollars. Guess what? Overcharged close to $200.00. Lunches are good. Breakfast and dinner very average.The Skybar food is very good. The only reason I gave this place 3 stars is because the staff is great. Maid service is great. Very nice, friendly and efficient. The Marival Resort next door is not worth the trip in terms of food and drink. There are better places for the money unless you just want to sit in a very nice room with a terrible bed. Good luck but I would take a pass on this one.
This is our 2nd time at the Residences and once again we had an amazing experience. Be ready for the somewhat agressive sales pitch by up to 3 people trying to get you to go to breakfast and try to sell you a time share. From there it was the most relaxing time for rest of week. The food at all of the restaurants is excellent, and we enjoyed pool side dining at Lemongrass (delicious veggie wraps and guacamole). Special thanks to Ernesto, Miguel, Patricia, Hector, Felix..you are awesome as always! We had a lovely villa room and our own lounge chairs by the Demi pool. It was nice to sit out on our patio chairs in the morning and drink coffee and do crossword puzzle in paper they delivered every morning. We thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing evenings getting a little dressed up for dinner at Omaggio and drinking red wine, gin and tonic listening to live music or sitting by the fire pit. Really the only thing we were a little disappointed in was the Insu sky bar. Last time we were here, it was more relaxing and laid back with lounge type seating and this time it felt like it was a restaurant vibe, they wanted to seat us right away, that's if you got there early enough to get a seat. They took away most of the bar stools and lounge chairs. Non the less the sunsets were gorgeous! We went to sister property to the beach a couple times and it was very enjoyable. We made reservations for the Italian restaurant Amalfi with the woman (don't remember her name) while we were there and she seemed like we were bothering her and messed up our reservations. When we arrived for dinner they had us for the next night which we were leaving that next day, but the host was very gracious and seated us without issue at all. The dinner was wonderful and special thank you to server Jose Garcia for making our experience fun and memorable.. it didn't hurt either him calling me "American Princess" lol! At table side, he made us large grasshopper out of a palm leaf and it fared pretty well packed in my suitcase home, a nice souvenir :-) We can't stress enough how wonderful the food is at Omaggio restaurant! They have different cuisines every night and we especially loved international night, always variety and never tired of it. Thank you Marival, we miss you already!
From the moment you arrive this is special. We were shown to the bar area and greeted with drinks and scented cool wash cloths. I immediately knew this vacation was going to be something special! We had booked two 2 bedroom suites. Refrigerators always stocked with water, beer and soda. Rooms were clean and well cared for. Room service was always impeccable (when we used it). Service by the pool was OUTSTANDING!! Short trip by shuttle to sister hotel for beach access. And the service at the beach was equally outstanding! As my daughter said "I don't ever want to leave!". We enjoyed facials and massages at the Spa, this was just a wonderful bonus!
The Good:The rooms and overall hotel was great. This was the first time doing an AI because I normally don't like feeling confined to the resort and like to eat locally but I was pleased with the experience as there was enough variety. During my research I wanted a family friendly resort since we were vacationing with a 2 year old. It was nice to have luxury and family friendly as well. All of the staff was so friendly to my son and they spoke to him by name all over the resort when they saw him. There was a children's show one night with a mime and jugglers for the kids that was great to have entertainment without having to go to the sister resort. The nanny service was great and Patricia was excellent and took great care of my son for 4 hrs while we enjoyed a dinner at Insu. This restaurant has excellent views and nice menu. Some of the staff that did an exceptional job were Reggie, Patricia, Claudia, Wes, Claudia and Ernesto. While there were others that were great as well these did an exceptional job and made sure we had everything we needed. The Bad:The only wine, the house wine, was awful. I just drank mixed drinks because I could no longer tolerate the Chardonnay.The bed was hard extremely hard. I had read on TripAdvisor of this problem and to request a cushion, which I did but it was still terribly hard. If I visit this resort again I would go to Walmart and buy a cushion to use during my stay.I had an issue with room service in which we discussed with the general manager and I was provided with 50% discount of a spa service, which I utilized. Well since the manager acknowledged this this may not be considered a bad.I found the concierge to be less than pleasant. Each time I went to the desk for some type of assistance they seemed much less enthusiastic to help than the rest of the staff that was amazing. At the end of our trip I inquired about our return airport transport, that was included, and I was told by Yvette that transportation is provided by a different company and I should have an email or some type of acknowledgement with that information. I advised that if Marival contracts this out to another company I made my reservation with Marival and they should still have the information. Although she did assist, it was just not done with the same kindness and smile as all other services.Our room did not have longe chairs and only had a dining table. I could see lounge chairs and dining tables on most balconies and called to inquire twice and told each time the chairs were in maintenance and they would check if any chairs were available and let me know. I never received a response to either inquiry. It would have been nice to enjoy the evenings on the balcony in lounge chairs rather than dining chairs.
