Occidental Grand Nuevo Vallarta
- What's Included
- All Inclusive Features
Renovations have improved the Allegro Nuevo Vallarta which was starting to appear a bit old and run down. A new modern finish now adds to this authentically Mexican hotel. Many repeat clients love the hotel because the facilities are up to standard, the beach is amazing and the staff are the best! In the lobby, an entire wall is filled with letters from guests, saying what a great time they had and that they would return. There's no doubt about it, regardless of how old this hotel is, it never fails to please its guests.
the hotel was nice and seemed slightly dated, however, for the all inclusive price.. I would do it all again! The service was phenomenal and the staff was beyond amazing.Erik and Samuel at the buffet made the dining experiences memorable- 5 stars to those gentleman.Ulysses at the bar makes amazing drinks and always had one ready when we got to the bar (he could see us walking up from the pool).
Visited this resort for yearly vacation and loved every minute of it. Special shout-out to Eric in the dining room, Salvador our taxi driver and Alfredo the poolside bartender! All of those gentlemen were absolutely excellent. If you're thinking about a resort to visit, visit this one and ask for these guys. You will not be disappointed.
I would love to give this resort a 4 or 5 bubble review but so much conspires against that. This property is in need of some love and capital expenditure. Hopefully the purchase of the Occidental brand by Barcelo hotels will eventually provide it.We stayed for 6 nights in early October, slow season for Vallarta. Yes, there was some renovation taking place but nothing that would be considered our of the ordinary. I will start by saying that the reviews that mention the location and service are spot on. The beach was easily accesswd and we have nothing but great things to say about our service team members on the Royal Club level and elsewhere around the property...kudos to Rodolpho, Ricardo, Guadalupe, Rafael, Carlos and others for providing the best in hospitality. The staff at the Occidental Grand is the true gem.Sadly its also makes the lacking in other areas much more prominent. The WIFI, well it sucks, there's no way around it so if you have to do any work while enjoying your vacation, good luck. We spent hours doing simple tasks that should have taken a short amount of time. While not everyone will need to work on vacation, we are small hoteliers and sometimes need to be in contact with our businesses, the WiFi connection makes that near impossible. The attention to detail is lacking, from the clock in the Royal Lounge which is constantly stuck on 10:30 to the bedside clocks that were constantly incorrect. At one point I asked a lady at the cocierge desk at the Royal level about something, when she moved the laptop the data cable came unplugged, I noticed that it was being held in place by electrical tape. Being nosey I asked about it, to which she stated that they had asked about a replacement 2 months ago and were still waiting, I mean come on, it's a $4 dollar cable that can be bought at Wal-mart, why should the staff have to put up with defective items that can be so easily fixed. The hard and soft goods are in desperate need of refreshing. 2 of the 4 chairs at the dinette set in our room, 741, were broken. The mattress was heavily stained, don't go looking for a mattress encasement either, you will be disappointed. My last annoyance was that on the very last night of my stay there was a a wedding. I'm not one to begrudge anyone a celebration but the wedding seemed to affect all aspects of the resort. All of the good chefs were taken off their standard lines to help so if you were having dinner in the Royal Club that night you were screwed. We ended up sending back 3 items for temperature issues. It was obvious that the replacement chef was not up to speed on timing. Once the party started for the wedding everyone was invited even if you didn't want to be...the music was so loud you couldn't really rest and it went on until 1am, the bass was so extreme that even though we were on the opposite end of the resort, we could feel the bed pulse.I really, really wanted to have an excellent stay at the Occidental Grand Nuevo Vallarta, instead it was underwhelming and disappointing. I do hope that the management realizes the value they have in their staff, its seemed to be the only the thing the resort has going for it.
Stayed for our Anniversary for 4 Days October 14-17. We have been to many All Inclusive Resorts in Mexico, but mostly on the Gulf side. There are only two ala carte restaurants to choose from and one buffet. Food was okay and we are not picky, but mostly ended up eating at the pasta station at the buffet for lunch and dinner. Most people agreed with us that food was probably better in buffet area. They have some great employees here! Alfredo and Jesus at the pool bar and the server Angeles were awesome! Kept the drinks coming and made whatever you asked for. Carlos at the bell desk was also very helpful and informative. Nice beach and you can walk along it for miles. Plenty of spots to sit around the pool and at the beach, but it was a slower time of year. Adult pool is closed for construction as they are making a swim up bar area. That was a bummer for us, but their wasn't a lot of children at the resort right now. It will be nice in the future. It is very close to walk to Supermarket/Mall or Casino and also is not too far from the airport. (15 min) You can easily take a taxi to get around and it is fairly cheap to go into Puerto Vallarta or on an excursion. Had a great time here though and would possibly go back in the future if only staying for a short time. (Long weekend like us) If you stayed for a longer period of time you would probably want to get off the resort for an excursion or other dining options just for something different. No disco or music later into the evening other than the nice shows they offer at around 9 pm CST. A lot of people sit in the lounge bar area after the shows and that is nice for socializing. Hard Rock is right next door and you can see their fireworks and hear their music if you really wanted some later night activities. Might just be because it is a slow time of year and not packed with guests. This would be a nice place for a family because it is smaller and has options in the buffet for the kids and also has a kids activity club and a kids pool. The children that were there seemed to be having a great time. Only the ground floors have a cement patio with a table and 2 chairs. They possibly might have some balconies up in the Royal Club area for more money or maybe in the nicer suites. Would love to see balconies on ALL rooms!
While there are many all inclusives to stay at in Nuevo Vallarta my friends and I picked Occidental because of the high quality in atmosphere and the staff was excellent. It was very relaxing and from the massages to the food it was perfect. We took a five day girl trip and could not have been happier with our choice. We have been several times to Mexico but liked it here the most. You can do it all...or do nothing. Right on the beach so no worries about traveling anywhere. Try it out!
