El Panama Convention Center & Casino
- What's Included
Hotel El Panama is a beautiful property, with large, comfortably furnished rooms and a huge swimming pool set in a tropical garden. There are three onsite restaurants to choose from, including a sushi bar. The neighborhood has many restaurants and shops door sundries. You can get to more upscale shopping in minutes with the nearby Metro. Everyone we met was pleasant and helpful. Roberto and Mariana especially went out of their way to see that our needs were met.Unfortunately, we were there during Carnival, when the pool area becomes party city. They blasted disco and Latin music all day long. The hallways are open to the outdoors, so the noise penetrated the whole building. Our eighth floor room reverberated with the bass, and we actually made a recording of the music from inside our room! We were relieved when they turned the music off at dinner. But a free hours later, they showed outdoor movies at the same volume until after 10 pm. Roberto kindly moved us to a quieter room away from the pool. Because of the open hallways, we could still hear the music. But at least it no longer pulsated through the room. I understand that they wanted to entertain guests who were there for Carnival, but they also need to accommodate the other guests. There were several small problems:: housekeeping sometimes forgot to leave toiletries or hand towels, the water flow in the shower wasn't good, you couldn't charge room service or laundry to the room. Despite these minor annoyances, I would have given El Panama five stars if it weren't for the inescapable noise.
Front desk were very nice and that’s where it ends, booked a suite, which we got, in much need of some money being spent on it. The bath tub has cracks and holes in it and when I stood in for a shower (no way was I running a bath, yuk!) there was some kind of oily residue on the bath floor, so I nearly slipped over.No bath robe, no slippers, no bottle of water, all expected in a suite, going on previous experience.Went to sushi bar for a cocktail and after 20 mins and still no cocktail we got up and left. There is meant to be a pool bar, which was non existent, so we ended up going in the main restaurant to get our mojitos! The whole place is run down, staff no motivation- except a nice guy who served us in the restaurant.
value for money, nice location in the center, huge swinging pool, a bit outdated , airco hard to control, most of the time to cold. Nice but old casino n the premises and a lot of parking lace. Friendly staff
We had an inconvenience with the room assigned to us, but the staff was willing to help us and they fixed the situation. About the pool, We didn't like the way the serve the drinks and we would have liked more music on that area.
Scheduled a trip to attend conference at hotel. Though made a reservation they were all out of rooms. Got shifted to a Ramada Inn first night.Missed nearly one half day waiting on a room. They processed my payment and then told me to wait thirty more minutes for a room, missing my conference in meantime.A manager never offered to speak to me or provide some apology or adjustment to my bill. Missed part of my conference dealing with this fiasco.Do yourself a favor and stay at a Marriott or other major reputable hotel chain. The level of professional service is terrible!
