Riu Panama Plaza

Nicely located hotel in Panama City.clean, good service, good breakfast. What else do you need?If you have a room at a higher level than the view will be astonished. Unluckily I only spend two days there and had no chance to use the amenities.
I'm not a big fan of huge hotels, but this one is quite good. The lobby i enormous and so is the breakfast room, but everything is well organized. There are some decent restauarnts in the area.I had a pleasant stay and I will be back,
Being a frequent traveler, this is maximum 3 to 3.5 ***. Why? Here we go after spending 5 days, 4 nights on business. -After 4 days, the hair on the floor of the bathroom of the previous tenant were still there. -Fridge was totally empty, forget enjoying a cold beer after a hot day out-No room service after 10 pm , unless you accept pre-packed sandwiches. I ordered a Caeser salad, took me 8 mins to get the order, when it came, it was dry and cold-I had to ask EVERYDAY for the face cloths- but every single day-No inside slippers provided, lucky I always carry my own as it seems they do not vacuum the floor-Towels greyish and old: once they even left me a wet one handing to dry for me to use againI can go on and on...otherwise room was quiet, bed comfortable ...but no notes to put on the bed to change linen, so had the same at least for 3 nights! FAst and efficient check in. Good selection of tv channels and wifi is great throughout the hotel. Breakfast good enough but not if you only take pastries. Staff are ok-ish, yet you need to pay some of them to get a smile off them, seem very unhappy. One of the aims of my trip was to experience the hotel. My company is just round the corner and we have around 15 hotel rooms-nights per week and I wanted to see if we change. But I definitely have a no go on this one - if I was not satisfied, neither will be my clients. Pity. Will not go back and not recommend this hotel.
Stayed here in transit heading to work to a mine site on the other side of the country. Was a welcome relief from flying 15 hours on the plane.Check in was excellent and the room was great. Exactly what you would expect from a 5 star international hotel. Only one down side on my behalf was that the shower was pretty cold, not very warm at all. I travelled with 2 other work mates and their showers were good. maybe the hot water couldn't reach the higher floor. But apart from that it was all good. No smoking inside the hotel, so when going outside for a cigarette be careful of the street crawling pimps that may take you for a roll.
My fiance and our 2yr old stayed from Aug 5th to Aug 14th 2017 and we enjoyed ourselves and will be returning and would definitely recommend RIU it to others. First to note this is a five star business hotel so the fact that there were not any children play amenities was not a bother because we did not spend a lot of time in the hotel because was a business trip. The room we were in was the Deluxe king room i think; and the room was spacious and clean, the bed was comfortable and the pillows were nice, we requested an extra blanket and pillow and towels and received those. the room has an iron and an iron board percolator and coffee and they also top up the room with bottles of water daily, very few entertaining English speaking movie channels but a good selection of news channels. There is a safe in the room which we did not use but we took advantage of leaving items at the front desk on one occasion. The rooms are definitely soundproof we heard no one and we are assuming no one heard our daughter's early morning tantrum. The Morning breakfast buffet starts at 7:30am but 7:00am is also a good time to make your way down if you plan to have an early start on the road. The breakfast buffet spread is comparable to any all-inclusive hotel breakfast spread, fruits station, cereal area, yogurt station, oatmeal porridge, cold cuts station, vegetables, egg and omelet station, pancakes and french toast, guacamole salsa and tortillas, bacon and hash brown are always on the menu along with a bread and pastry station, juices are also available along with coffee and tea selections, a variety of other dishes are also added to the menu on a daily basis to add variety. We ate from there lunch and dinner buffet a few times and found the options and quality/taste to be very good and a great valued for the cost which was i think somewhere between $23-$25 per person also the desert stations were great on each occasion we ate dinner or lunch. As a Jamaican that lives on fried chicken i can say the fried chicken was great the only problem was that for my duration of station fried chicken was only on the menu twice. The Cafe/Snack bar was so very convenient light offerings that were available 24hours - and if you are leaving the hotel before 6:30am the snack bar offers free coffee, tea and pastries. There is a great bar in the lobby and a great pool bar and restaurant we did not get to check it out because of the baby but other guests told us they enjoyed themselves and it looked nice to us. the gift shop has reasonably priced souvenirs and really great beach bags. The business center has newspapers and is a very helpful resource. the gym looked nice we so did not get to utilize this hopefully the next trip. the hotel was busy with several different conferences along with a panama ink conference none of this detracted form our stay or was a bother. There was even dance lessons one night in the lobby bar. I have to thank the staff my experience was a warm and welcoming one, i have to point out Endy and Elias who were great and informative and so helpful and attentive, Mario and Yetzelain and Ariagna were also great. There are a few names i am also forgetting but they all helped to make this trip enjoyable. There are cabs outside and are easily available the valet attandants are also nice. I personally only had an issue with one person but some people no matter what are just generaly bossy and his attitude in the dining room one morning was just unimpressive to me in how he decided to communicate with me. But other than that the dining room staff is very helpful and they try to remember faces and can be very warm when cleaning up the table and serving coffee or whatever, even the sous chefs in the dining room are pleasant and nice. The Hotel is in a very comfortable neighborhood and has a nice selection of food franchises and restaurants to check out in the neighborhood also a few stores and there is even a play park nearby and a play center down the road on a strip mall which my daughter enjoyed. Soho mall is literally out the front door we did not get a chance to visot. But we walked to multicentro mall and multiplaza is a quick cab ride from the hotel. There is a lovely park by the water front and the fish market is close by where you can get some good seafood. Overall i am looking forward to my next trip and will definitely be working on my spanish (it is only polite and smart to know some basic spanish and few other phrases if one plans to visit this country regularly and continue to expand ones vocabulary at ones own pace) which is something i should know based on years of school.
