Riu Panama Plaza

The location and the general facilities are very good; however, I stayed in the hotel five nights and my overall calification was on;ly 3/5 since I did not find a warm and commited with the guests.I will mention few facts among all I consider the hotel mst work on: Hurricane "Hugo" was bringing to the city more rain than regularily so we asked to the manager in charge an umbrella o some like that to move 100 meters from the hotel. She said they do not have cince in the past they had but were stolen. She suggested to take a Hotel taxi to take us there; cost: us$7.The concierge service do not exist!! there are two ladies in an office supposed to help the guests but seems they now not the city!. We asked for directions of some places or restaurants but .... we had to appeal to internet!!!Finally, the kindness of the employees was Zero for whatever we asked.Sorry to be so frank but my experience in this hotel was no good at all.I would like to say I travel to Panama often (this is my third time this year) and hotelwise this was my worse.
Dont go this hotel ecpensive and not good You can find much better hotel around And workers are nıt goodNot clean room and breakfast is ok You can find good plc more chip and much better then here Take care with this hotel
Rooms are big bathroom comfortable and ample butvthe best is breakfast and service. Location is right smack in center of city but not for walking Very close to the best restaurants in town. Highly recomend it
We became stranded in Panama City because of hurricane Otto (11/14/2016), and COPA Airline was kind enough to put us up at the RIU. We have been to Panama City countless times throughout the past 17 years, but I have to admit I had never been inside the RIU until then. There are pros / cons to this hotel when compared to others in Panama City, however, overall this is a nice place. The rooms are beautiful with the bathrooms having two sinks (a huge plus if you are married and trying to get ready in the morning). The shower is a full tube with the option of a bath, hand held shower, or overhead "rain" shower. The rooms on the higher floors have the best views, enjoyed especially at night. The pool is nice with plenty of seating in and around the pool area. I am not sure if they have a gym as we did not stay there long enough to find out.The food seemed quite good. We ate at the buffet, and by Panama standards, the salad bar was quite nice.My only complaints were their prices for wine. We only had wine by the glass, however, the wine was $7 per glass (higher than most restaurants in Panama for standard house wine) ... and the pour was quite small (small wine glass, and pour was about 3 ounces).Service was good ... and yes, most of the staff has limited English ... but hey, this is Panama City where Spanish is the language of choice. If you don't speak some Spanish, buy a Spanish phrase book so you can order food, get a taxi, etc.
Stay away if you can. The last thing you want is to arrive at 23:00 at night to be told by grumpy staff (Erick) that your room won't be ready for "15 minutes". Obviously that was not an exact estimate but a general concept meaning "later".Indifferent and bored but apparently unable to solve the issue. The duty manager, Sr. Ranfis preferred to hide in the back office.Nander at the front disk was equally useless. And I am writing this before even having seen my room. It better be worth the wait. But with this welcome even the presidents suite will get more than 2 stars.
