I could talk about the beach or the food or the room but, giving it a 5 rating tells you that I am very pleased with this hotel. Just an act of kindness that I was given every day made a wonderful memory of coming to Panama. This trip has really been about the people that work very hard everyday. "I wish I could give them all a vacation!!!" So I'm just going to list their names and hope that higher management recognizes what a great staff they have. Starting with my maid, Critsbalina Sabchez, she did a wonderful job cleaning my room and making sure I had enough water, clean towels, soaps and shampoos. And then there was Yndira such a sweet girl! She made special arrangements for me to eat at the ala carte several times, which made my vacation so much more enjoyable. I do not speak Spanish and she speaks beautiful English and helped me communicate with some new people I met from Colombia. Thank you for everything you did for me Yndira. And every vacation you need a favorite bartender so Cynthia Macias was mine, you have a beautiful smile and such a happy Spirit, it was fun seeing you everyday. And the good looking male bartenders we're so pleasant too. My nickname is Chicago Charlie and I am a woman that enjoys special attention so thank you Carlos Perrz from the Japanese restaurant. You put on a great show and I hope it's okay that I share a video of you cooking. You're an excellent chef and I'd also like to thank Mayela Ayala for being so strong to carry those heavy trays of food night after night and smiling every time she served me another glass of wine. And the kind smile and friendly welcome from Elurdo Garcia and Maria del Carmen.I could have started my thank you's with the man that started the whole conversation Jorqe Mendez. He is such a nice man and genuinely concerned about how the guests are enjoying the food his chefs have prepared and I'd also like to thank the chef (I do not know his name) who made me a chicken breasts at lunch that I really enjoyed.Roberto Ladezmc greeted me everyday and made sure I had a table to sit at and was taken care of. I was at the RUI Just down the beach from here last October and no one said, "If there's anything we can do for you just ask." Or is everything okay.Well, Lorenzo Peroz you're done a wonderful job and I believe you have great people working for you. I enjoyed our conversation and in the three or four months that you've been here you have a great home of family and friends.I apologize for the spelling of your names and I hope management will know who I'm talking about. And then there was Jamie who knew my room number everyday with a smile when she gave me a clean towel. I hope when you're looking over the hotels to choose from you'll consider the Sheraton Bijao Beach. Because you are the lucky ones who can go on vacations, some people never get the chance so remember the act of kindness.
Bijao is a big resort/condo type area. There is a gate to Bijao and a second for the Sheraton. Upon presenting our reservation, we were passed through immediately. We parked at the entrance of the huge open-air lobby and unloaded the luggage. We went to the front desk and were given our wrist band IDs and told to return for our room assignment at 3:00 pm.; in the meantime have lunch and enjoy the bars. The long term parking lot is very close to the main entrance. At Sheraton Bijao we did not have to wait in the street until 3:00. The other resorts in this area really need to take lessons from these guys. Many of the staff spoke English; the front desk and management people were quite fluent. We had lunch at the buffet, the only option for breakfast and lunch, and had a few drinks. The buffet is good, but not great, and has substantially fewer choices than the other resorts in the area. However, there are always a few things that are really good. How many choices do you need? The grounds are really nice and we like the way the resort is laid out. Things are closer together, there are a few stairs but not too many. There are a number of pools and the bathrooms are very close by. I was pleased to note that the guests used them. Lesson 2 for the other resorts in the area. We checked in at 3:00 and were offered the chance to book dinner reservations for the two specialty restaurants for the following two nights right then. Lesson 3. Our room was very large and very nice. We were on the top floor and had a view of the Continental Divide. We could pay extra for an ocean view, but decided not to. In this resort there is no artwork on the walls of the rooms. The AC was too cold but they sent a man up to fix it right away. TV channels are in English or Spanish, but there are plenty of both and good English channels. Our first dinner was at the buffet. It was good. The coffee here is excellent. The following morning we got up early to water on the floor. The front desk sent a man up to mop the floor, but the problem was with the AC. They quickly decided to give us another room one floor down, and we moved and were resettled in short order. We were very impressed at the way our problem was handled and had breakfast when the buffet opened. Although we were on the 9th and then, 8th floor we never had a problem waiting with the elevator. Rarely did we even share it with someone else. The buffet was good. At the egg station, I got two perfectly made sunny side up eggs. The only problem is that they seem to never have heard of bacon and the sausage consists of cut-up hotdogs and chorizo. Fortunately, we like Panamanian cuisine, but I do miss my bacon. We walked the beach and relaxed in one lounge chair or another for the rest of the day. The swim-up bar was closed for remodeling. It was sunny all day, but we managed to find shade when we wanted. Lunch at the buffet was good. For dinner we went to Sakura, which is a tapenaki style restaurant, where they cook your meal at the table on a large grill. It was great. The next day started out as overcast and stayed that way for most of the day, with intermittent rain and sun. They had hot dogs and snacks by the pool. These were good. We had dinner reservations at Los Olivos Restaurant and I must say it is one of the finest meals that I have ever had. My Filet Mignon was cooked to perfection and the thin sliced potatoes, cauliflower and broccoli were nothing short of excellent. It is worth the trip just for this meal. The last day we relaxed a bit and packed for the trip home. We checked out at noon and returned to front desk after lunch to turn in our wrist bands. Overall the attitude of the management and staff of the Sheraton Bijao is more welcoming and accommodating than the other resorts in the area. I recommend this resort and plan to return.
We went as a family vacation (three adults and a teen) from June 23 - 30, 2017 with Sunwing vacations. We have been on many other trips to all inclusive so, we have seen it all ….This time our experience with sunning was not the best….. great service prior to departure, but that’s it…. average service on flights and no rep present on our resort at all during our stay, makes no sense what so ever…..Go to the sheraton Bijao - if you love the beach as much as amazing pools, want to stay in a self-contained resort, clean and comfortable rooms, want friendly and amazing staff and like to walk on long stretch of beach. The sheraton bijao is all about service, we were treated like family… starting from the bell boy, to the waiters, to the cleaning staff, to the entertainment staff, which are absolutely attentive and work so hard. Rooms: We had two deluxe oceanview rooms, beautiful rooms with mean view. Even if all inclusive, they do not fill the minibar, it was always empty… you pick up your drinks at the restaurant or bars.. if you call, they will bring you a bottle of water right away…. . We left a couple bucks daily along with requests for additional towels, which we always had. Overall the room great!Restaurants and Bars:Included in our 7 day stay was 3 meals a day and snacks. The breakfast and lunch are served inside in an open concept and is a buffet. All meals were good with wait staff that is extremely attentive and hard working. you can go to the a la carte restaurants as often as you want. They are three: Japanese, Mediterean and Italian, we only went to Sakura and Los Olivos as they as inside. both were delicious. Beach/Pool/Grounds:We spent the our time on the beach (white sand with stands of volcanic black sand, just beautiful, and an amazing view…!). The pools at the bijao are cascading and quite spectacular and chairs and bed are always available. There was a pool bar easily accessible from the beach and pool, The bottom line is that wherever you live….you had access to a pool and beach, the beauty of a small resort. They love to party, had a great time... at 11PM, done, fantastic !!!Free WiFi throughout the resort... YES :)The grounds are very well keep, beautiful flowers. Very lovely. One thing, they need to amp up their english..... only spanish gets complicated....Overall....... the resort was great. Souvenirs:a market if a few minutes by taxi from the hotel, nice store, for 15$ and your good to shop a few merchants… The gift shop at the hotel is not bad either actually !With the exceptions, you will stop in markets for some shopping also, all excursions were well worth it, loved Panama, we will go back !
This is far away from a real Sheraton. The accomodations are very old. On my case water was falling from the exaust system when we open the shower. The food served is a buffet with limited options, bad quality and limited replacement. I had to go to a JW MArriot that is 10km close to have dinner at the first night. When i came back i asked for a White wine and it was tasking and smeling as vinager. I asked the manager to cancel my stay on next day informing the problems i had. I was informed i would receive my money back but up to now after 2 calls to the Hotel nothing happened.
We booked a stay despite the reviews hoping our experience would be slightly better. The first impressions consisted of having to walk more than a mile and a half from the main road when we arrived by public bus. There was no hotel staff at the main road and when we arrived at the security gate mid way through our walk, no shuttle or golf cart was made available to take us the rest of the way. With heavy luggage, we arrived soaked with sweat. While we indicated at the Sheraton website that we would be arriving early at a specific time, we were not told that an extra fee would be assessed. Only after I strongly protested to a second front desk staff member was the fee waived. When we arrived to our room, it was not fully cleaned so we needed to be moved to another room. The pool bar needs to be renovated but the pools were nice. While the food was typical buffet food, it was fairly well done. Unfortunately, flies were a bit frustrating. The beach was nice but not as beautiful as on the Caribbean side of the country. A wonderful piano player was a nice surprise during the evening. For the price paid, the stay was worth it but it could have been so much better.
