Run Down Hotel

Good PointsAlthough they were short staffed and a good deal of them not trained, the staff really tried. The wine wasn't bad it, it was all from Chile.Bad PointsI would guess the hotel is about 30 years old ( or just looks like it ) and needs a good deal of work. The bathrooms had water damage, the fixtures were old and corrodedThe walls in the rooms needed painting and maybe some art work They had a 2 double beds instead of queensNothing in the bar fridge and the pop machine in the restaurant wasn't turned on until noon ( only half of pop dispensers worked anyway)They only served champagne in one bar and it tasted like gasolineThe restaurants had a real bird problem, if you weren't protecting your plate within seconds 4 or 5 birds would swam it.There weren't any fans in the rooms or restaurants so the main eating area was stifling hot at night when the wind dyed down.Very few guard rails on the stairs and I watched 2 people fall. The buffet selection appealed to a local crowd. Fish soup for breakfast, hot dogs, canned tuna, cold cuts and oatmeal that looked like milk with a couple of grains of oat meal. In general all the food was WAY over saltedThe bread was good and you could get an omelet. The pool restaurant had cheese pizza, hot dogs , hamburgers and one day shredded beef mixed with french fries ??The pools look nice in the picture but are dirty and dated. They had weighted umbrellas at the pool but they really moved around on windy days. The wind caught one of the smaller ones and it missed my head by inches. In conclusion this should not be branded as a Sheraton. The nexus tours were another complete rip offOne group went to the Anton valley, which turned out to be just a zooOur group was shown a picture of a 35 ft fishing boat but arrived to find them selves on a 20 ft boat with no shade, no washrooms and no fish to catch. At a rate of $200 each. They also took us to a town called Penonome which was like Walmart does Panamabut the no toilet seats in the washrooms if you could find one.

Overpriced for how they treat you

I have to admit that the service from de people at the bar, restaurant etc, was really good, very helpful people. But when it comes to the administration personal, there's no worlds to describe it , they are rude, impolite, arrogante, there's a lot of management work to do there. Regarding the facilities the pool was ok even if they tuned out of towels pretty easily. The rooms tough, are not that good... really old and dirty... but guess what ? If you call the reception to ask for them to clean up the room, don't expect them to send any one ...

Great deal for the price

Had a great time and the weather and beach were great. Restaurants had great food but the buffet had some poor days. Snacks at the beach house were not that good. Music bass at the pool was too loud and could be heard everywhere. Service at the buffet was lacking. Some servers were great and others avoided eye contact. Never got a full complement of towels in the room until almost the last day. Only 2 bars were open during the day so plan on waiting for your free drinks. No Scotch. Coffee was bad so had to go to the lobby bar to get a cappacino to be satisfied. On Saturdays when surrounding condos were used the beach was like a freeway with ATV's. Many stairs to get to the beach and elevators in the building were slow when busy with 5 floors. Most staff except the lobby desk only speak Spanish. Nexus tours were very good at setting up tours and it was fun seeing the Panama Canal in person. With that being said we still had a great time for the price. We flew out of Toronto with a group and Sunwing so it only cost us about $1100 usd / pp. If your looking for 5 star you will be disappointed.

Typical ALL -Inclusive Resort

I have stayed here many times, always for business or work purposes. This last time when I arrived in my room there were a few things missing, there was no ironing board, no safe, no cups or coffee for the coffee maker and the air conditioning was dripping water onto the floor. I immediately went to the front desk to ask for these items, the ironing board and coffee were delivered almost immediately but the safe did not arrive. I returned to ask for the safe again and they assured me they would send someone to deliver it, after waiting in my room for another 45 minutes or so, I gave up and left, the safe never arrived. I live in Panama and speak Spanish so this was not a matter of something being lost in translation. We had also rented out one of the conference rooms for 3 days, we initially had some issues with another conference pep rally next door with loud music, we also had some problems with their microphones and PA system within the conference room. They should have someone dedicated to assist in these conferences at all times but we constantly had to ask and look for someone to assist us during these days. The buffet food is ok, the salad bar was always nice with fresh greens and vegetables. The a la carte restaurants (there are 3) are always a step above the buffet, there is Los Olivos (mediterranean) and Sakura (Japanese) both are good in my opinion, but you have to make reservations early on to be certain to get a table.Overall I would say the Sheraton is better than most of the ALL inclusive resorts in the area, they are a bit smaller than some of the others I have visited, so it gives you the feeling of being more personal and exclusive. The beach is clean, there are 3 pools all cascading down towards the beach and various group activities and games during the day. If you are looking for a place to relax on the beach or down by the pool for a few days, if you are looking for the convenience of eating whenever you want and not having to sit down and wait, if you are looking for non-stop freely flowing alcohol, the Sheraton Bijao may be for you!

Sheraton Bijao Beach Resort, saddly we were very dissapointed in this resort.

Just returned from the Sheraton Bijao Beach Resort, sadly we were very disappointed in this resort, being the Sheraton name I thought this would be better than it was. The food on the buffet was terrible the three restaurants a step up, we don't speak Spanish so communication was terrible, or so I thought until the last day of our vacation and ran into a Spanish speaking person in our group and he expressed the same issues we had. Wait staff and front desk very rude. The rooms were cleaned everyday but always had to ask for wash clothes and hand towels. We had issues with our keys not working most days and would need to get them reprogramed. All I can say is don't go.....
