"The trip went smoothly, flight on time. It would have been nice to have a heads up about the airport with so many time share reps trying to steer you to their booths, etc. The agent from escapes said their would be a rep holding a sunwing sign but that wasn't till you are almost threw the airports doors to exit. It is very intimating for tourists especially when you are traveling with a family. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and accomadating." [...]

"I had an Amazing trip to Puerto Vallarta this past February! I had heard negative things about Mexico before but going to PV i was blown away by the hospitality, friendly people, food and most of all being able to just hop on a local bus and head down town to go shopping worry free! I highly recommend visiting PV and staying at the Hacienda Resort! It was awesome!" [...]

"visted Puerto Vallarta in Jan 2010 with my wife and 2 kids (3 and 6) years old. overall experience was awesome,
we stayed at Las Palmas Resort, It was decent, staff was friendly, food was delicious and activities were cool. Got one coupon for À la carte, food was delicious and serving was nice.
Resort has its private beach with was well maintained and cleaned.
The only thing did not like is the timming, our checkout time was 12:00PM, and return flight was 3:00 AM, so had to rent room for 10 extra hours for 130USD.
The thing I would like to mention is no one ask for tips, If we give them they appriciate or otherwise no hard feelings.
we took 2 tours the Pirate Ship and the Swim with the Dolphins, both were very good, kids loved them.
In short we had a wonderful time and will go back again.
Cheers!

"Just returned from Puerta Vallarta after one week there. It was my third time there and as always had a great time. I just have one word of caution for everyone. Avoid people selling you day voyages. When we arrived we were approached many times by people selling the snorkeling cruises, the canopy adventures, I even reserved one of each of these on the first nite after a bit of bargaining. The cruise was first offered at 70 dollars US/ea and I negotiated down to 35 US the canopy adventure was 220 dollars for the canopy, ATV, and some other event. We only wanted the canopy and got down to 70 dollars US/ea. Luckily I paid no deposit. The next day I booked with another vendor the same cruise for 30 dollars US/ea and the canopy adventure for 50 US/ea.I put a 20 US deposit on each trip. I returned to the original vendors booth to cancel my first reservation and was told that whoever booked these trips did not work there. When we went on the cruise the guy who sold us the trip escorted us to the Marina. We got in line and had to pay 500 pesos for the trip (about 40 dollars US) So the guy made 20 dollars off us for nothing. Then we went on the cruise and they offered the canopy adventure for 200 pesos while you were on the cruise. I met a fellow who lived in Mexico who paid 70 us/ea for the cruise. If you do buy from someone make sure the receipt shows the name of the cruise or event on the receipt. Otherwise just arrange your own transportation to the Marina or where the event is sold and buy it directly there." [...]

"Let's start with why it's not 5 out of 5: it costs so much to get there from home in Philadelphia, but once there, it is well worth the trip. The atmosphere is happy and full of music, day and night. The Mexican residents are generous with answers to any questions you may ask. There are wonderful places to eat, of high scale and pocket change range. This all away from the beaches. Getting on the beach you find gentle balmy breezes blowing all the day with plenty of warm sunshine.
And, to get a feeling for the community, ride the buses from one end of the route to the other; pass through small inner land communities on some and climb the local hills on others while catching glimpses of activity which is inbred for those who find their lives mostly in day to day labor.
It just feels good to be in the land of the peso shopping along with expats and native Mexicans in the super markets around town.
You can do or not do most of the things you're accustomed to or do what a native might show you.
In any case, a trip to Puerto Vallarta may be just the first of many!

"Puerto Vallarta has been our choice of destinations for a few years now. To travel from West Coast Canada with a smaller child, it is an easy flight. Getting to our resort of choice has always been easy from the airport whether it is nearer downtown Vallarta or in Nuevo Vallarta. Because we travel usually in November, I want good weather in the last 5 years it has always been beautiful day and night. The people are friendly and very helpful. PV has changed over the years but not lost any of its charm.
There are many wonderful things to see and do and all attractions are easy to get to. Going with a younger child, it has been fun to go on the Pirate ship, Marigalante, for the day with great entertainment, fun, and food.
This year we went to the Adventura Park to enjoy the Dolphin Encounter and afterwards a fun day at the water park there. It was a blast and reasonably priced.
We often take a local bus for a tour and have found it a great way to get to know PV. Always fun, always someone around to answer a question and always felt safe.
The resort we stayed at (Riu Jalisco in Nuevo Vallarta) was fabulous - the kids' club kept my child entertained, active and he learned to speak some Spanish. The entire service was excellent as was the experience, the food, the accommodations.
Escapes travel arranged everything efficiently, and the service was excellent.

"Had a wonderful, whirlwind week in and around Puerto Vallarta, MX.
The weather was outstanding and the whale watching was a sight to behold. Humpback whales in the Bay of Banderas - even when you weren't actively looking for them!
The two tours we took were very good and very informative. Highly recommend the "City Tour." We also took a snorkeling/whale-watching cruise that included lunch and a trip out to Punta Mita. While snorkeling you could hear the whales vocalizing under water - just amazing. We had pods of Humpbacks within easy picture taking distance on our return trip to Puerto Vallarta.
Any restaurant we tried was very good. Not a bad meal to be had. If you're into cigars there are several shops to check out in the older district. There are tons of little shops & stores around ranging from jewelry to Tequila, to clothing. You have to know your prices - otherwise you may be spending far more for an item than you wanted to.
All in all, we would go back in a minute to do some further touring around this wonderful seaside city." [...]
