Simply the best

The BH is simply the best resort hotel i have ever visited- Every thing about it was perfectand i am notoriously fussy ( so my wife would say). I was celebrating a milestone birthday and treated my family to 7 nights and only wish i had splashed out on a further couple of nights. We had a fantastic time -up at 7 for spinning - stretch and yoga -luxuriating in the spa- tanning on the beach- and enjoying activities i have never attempted before. As previous reviewers have said - the beach - the food - the classes- the spa -the view all perfect.But most of all i loved the sheer professionalism of the operation, it took my breath away.I have been in health and gym business all my life , and i know exactly how difficult it is to run this sort of operation in a seamless way.Whoever trains the staff does a brilliant job- from the guys on the beach to the staff in the restaurants nothing was to much trouble- where else in the world are you served Pimms on the beach without even having to ask or have your sunglasses wiped!As for the trainers they were first class ( and i know a thing or to about instructors)- however i single out Garvi , Mindy and Natasha as exceptional.As for the food -it was sensational ! Especially the Tao - and i advise you to book ahead of time - it rivals the very best in London or NewYork.For us the highlight was strangely the St Lucian Police Band - it great swing and perfect for dancing -I couldn't stay in my seat!When we arrived -there was a bit of confusion over our booking - which was not anything to do with BH ( and all to do with Virgin Holidays) but it was handled by Marlon and his front of house team perfectly. Next time i will book direct!Like so many other reviewers i cant wait to return.

Exceptionnally well managed resort

As I set off for my Sunday walk in the snow and the ice at -6C this morning, I could only dream of the beautiful walks up the Golf Hill or to Pidgeon Island that I enjoyed so much at BodyHoliday and the very professional staff and trainers (thanks M&M and Donell) who accompanied participants in all physical training activities or day excursions. Staff were professional, very good and caring.And when you have exhausted yourself (running, cycling, playing golf, tennis ... if you so wish to) then you can go to the clean and well run spa with outstandingly patient ladies at reception who can always figure out what you have signed for (even if you don't remember), dedicated and professional care givers and diversified health and skin care services offered in a calm and serene environment. Don't forget to practice your French with Samson.Later you can relax watching the sunset and enjoy the restaurants and evening "swing". The food is good and the staff in the restaurants are friendly and efficient. Try to get yourself invited to the "family table" ... Worth it !

I have been to TBH six times. I'm 58 single and just love it. Will probably return every year. I have made so many friends from all of the world at TBH and still keep in contact. Instant friends is how I would describe my experience. Hard to single out anybody or any department as the best, because everything is outstanding. Water sports guys are amazing, always patient and helpful. Idid the crew sailing course this year with Omar, brilliant! In one word. Although I did capsize the Hoby 16.. opps..Always plenty to do, if you want. Espresso at the salad bar is to die for. Piton beer...Try the soups at lunch, nearly as good as home made..Beach volleyball as the sun goes down is one of the highlights..Massive thank you to every body at TBH. Look forward too seeing you in November..Donald.

Overall very good

We had never heard of Body Holiday so last week was a first time experience. Overall it was very good though I will raise a few points to say it wasn't perfect. So first the limited issues. Our room ( oceanfront) was very nice. The view outstanding. Location excellent. The shower had no convent place to hang a towel so it was apparent that people would use the door handle - which was broken and not addressed while we weren't there though housekeeping had you see/use it daily. One bedside had no place to plug anything in as there was only a plug in for the nightstand lamp. So my phone - which served as a clock and alarm had to be placed in a different location to be plugged in overnight. My wife also could not plug in a hair dryer in the bathroom area ( there is a spot with a mirror in the bedroom). The in-room coffee was not very good ( though the coffee in the restaurants was) and housekeeping washed the cups in the room ( pet peeve ) as opposed to replacing them with dishwasher cleaned new cups.One swimming pool had many missing tiles which seemed odd for a resort that was well maintained generally. (I personally observed the general manager working with the grounds crew to point out which branches to cut etc which was impressive.). The wine selection for "inclusive wines" was limited. I personally drink pinot grigio and there was no option in the inclusive menu. The by the glass selections were very limited even on the upgrade option - Yet they have a 5 star rated wine cellar. Finally there wasn't a real handy place to run unless you went up and down the beach or on the St Lucia streets. I was able to run with a staff member to a beautiful spot on the Atlantic side but I never would have found it alone. The drive to the resort from the airport was long. I recommend the helicopter service one way.So much for the issues.We loved the entire stay and didn't want to leave. The spa services were very good. Azeema gave a great massage and the hot bamboo massage is in my top 5 ever. The staff was very friendly and the ratio of staff to guests was excellent - best I have ever seen. They would even walk your drinks out to you while chest deep in the water. The opportunity to do as much or as little as possible was always available. I love to exercise and wore myself out in the morning and used the beach in the afternoon. The spin class instructors were very good and workouts challenging. I especially liked Gracious.The food was excellent and we are generally critical of food - we like really good food. The breakfasts were absolutely fabulous. The Caribbean buffet ( I do generally like buffets) was the best ever - I wish I could have it once a week forever. The Deli have amazing salads and juices. the smoothies were tasty but very thin. Tao ( upscale restaurant) was very good.I not only would go back but hope to. I loved it! I didn't want to come home.

Still a great resort

I have reported on this resort before now and it is still a great placeWhat is the same Brilliant location with a fabulous beach that is a focus for the resortTerrific beach bar and the food is excellent and service great Great programme of activities and spa.Lunch is still brilliant with a choice of restaurants to collect buffet food from and enjoy on the terrace by the bar. Breakfast is excellent as well and starts the day so well. It is still a rather tedious 90 min drive from the airport. I was worried that a change of management and chef may have impacted on the food but it is as good as ever if not better.They still know how to serve a cold beer!And wildlife good: humpbacks in the bay seen from restaurant and birds.What has changed.The clientele is changing. The mix was predominantly brits over 50+ but there are much more US there and a much younger crowd (30 to 40 somethings)The Cariblue restaurant is better. The food and service are excellent. Pasta and fish dishes are really first class. It gets very busy and if you arrive later than 7.30 pm it can get a little slow. But the clubhouse/pavilion bar is not so good in the evenings and has a premium grill on 2/3 nights which seems to be designed to get you to pay for the specials- steak tiger prawns etc etcBut this is a worrying trend where the menus in all the restaurants have more specials and extra charges, wine aswell. However this seems popular with the Americans but not so with the Brits.The grand ocean deluxe rooms at the end of the beach have been refurbished but this has introduced a large circular bath for the loss of cupboard space and space generally. But it is ageat location!I am not sure where the rules are . Is there a dress code. Shorts and flip flops were popular attire in Cariblue and pavilion but not in Tho or Windows. I found this surprising. On the beach if you did not get there early for a front row seat it seemed that you could get the beach staff to build a new front row for you and you could smoke and play your own music. Also it was possible for large groups 6+ to book the best tables on the terrace at lunch for the whole week. In the past i did not think anyone could book tables. This worried me more than anything else.At peak times the bar could do with more staff sorting the drinks.Tho (Asian fusion ) has changed its menu and i felt it was less good but Windows was generally considered to be better but we did not go there.The Pimms crisis is over! So on the beach they serve you with fruit skewer/pimms/ dips/crudités/Pimms again and iced lollies and of course anything else you request.So would i go back there – yes i am sure we will but i will try somewhere else in the Caribbean next year before coming back for our fifth visit. Because in the past i have found it so perfect its small wholly avoidable imperfections are just the more annoying.
