My husband and I visited this resort with another couple and we could not have had a better time. We were on the adult side of the resort and I can honestly say I don't think there is a bad room. Every room has a view of the pool and beach. The first floor views may not be as good however, those rooms offer the convenience of walking right out to the pools. The grounds are kept clean and manicured which is refreshing. The staff at this resort is fantastic. Everyone was so polite, helpful and seemed to enjoy their job. A special thank you to Big Ted, he is a great asset to the staff. The restaurants were good, some better than others with plenty of choices to keep the whole family happy. The spa was wonderful as well we enjoyed a massage and facial. I cannot say enough about bartenders!! You have to find Princess, Dillion, Kerdy and Brandon. From day one they were on top of our every need. We found ourselves wanting to sit at the bar just to hang out with them because of their friendliness and jovial attitudes. It was very refreshing and appreciated. They are each at different places throughout the resort and on the beaches make sure to find them you won't be disappointed!
I wasn't sure what to expect. It did look like the pictures on the internet. However, we has constant small issues while we stayed. The biggest plus was the 4 min ride from the airport. But then we were on the Atlantic and it was rough and windy. The room was a Jr Suite. Not really, it has mold in small corner shower. We told front desk and they cleaned. But the bath was small. View was nice. Air conditioner never shut off, constant fan running. They had a lot of electrical issues. On and off and then off for 2 hrs three days in a row.Food not always available, the bar at the pool area VERY limited. and the food was again only mediocre.
First I wanted to say to all who try to compare this to Beaches, it's like comparing apples to oranges when it comes to the facilities but also when it comes to prices. Beaches is almost triple the cost of CBay. Our kids first island vacation was Beaches and they were spoiled so it has been hard to compare. I can finally say we have found a resort that is awesome on a beautiful island with so much to do. After being to huge resorts, hands down we prefer smaller because the attention you receive is so much better. We absolutely loved being 5 minutes from the airport, especially after traveling much of the day. To be greeted with drinks and a cold towel that smelled incredible the moment we arrived set the tone. We stayed on the splash side in the ocean premium rooms on the third floor which had great views of the ocean and were just as pictured on their website. Our fridge was stocked everyday with beer, water and the drinks we requested. The bathroom was fully functional and although not luxurious it had everything needed. We thought the beds were comfortable and the room was cleaned and new towel animals left everyday. The food was very good and we ate at both Silk and Calabash which were very good. The grill by the splash pool had really good chicken wings and pizza. The wait was really long if you waited until noon to order there and unfortunately people hovered where the food came up and the poor girl trying to take orders and hand out food could not get through the crowd. I would suggest a rope to keep people way from the counter where food comes up and maybe a microphone system to announce the number when ready. Our 18+ kids loved getting late night snacks here and saved us from having to go into the buffet when we did not want to leave the pool. We lounged by the splash pool everyday and also swam in the ocean, which was really warm. We thought the beach was great with soft sand and bluish green waters. It was not that rough and we managed to kayak out to the underwater reck where we snorkeled. I have to say that Coconut Bay offered the most entertainment of any resort we have been to including Beaches. There was always something going on whether it was Carribean night, Country Western night, the chocolate party, karaoke and adult pool party. There were musicians in the lobby at night and with it being open air you felt like you were outside in the Carribean night. The lobby bar was lively and it was open late. It was incredible. There were always people walking around and everything seemed to be open. We stayed at the Barcelo in Mexico a couple of years ago and the resort was a ghost town after 7:00 pm. Everything was far away from each other and everything was closed in.Also important to us was having an outdoor heated jacuzzi and they delivered. They had two, one with a beautiful view of the Maria island and the other in the adult pool. It was really large, really hot and attached to a pool so that you could jump in and cool downWe did a private catamaran tour with Mystic Man tours for our party of 14. We did the mud bath, botanical gardens, warm water springs, we saw the Pitons, bat caves and went to Margot Bay. We enjoyed a delicious creole lunch, had a yummy rum punch and they brought us out to see dolphins. The boys did a deep sea fishing charter with mystic man tours too but were dissapointed that not only did they not catch anything, they didn't even cast a line for 4 hours. Another group did horseback riding through the resort and loved it. The horses seemed well cared for.A bonus for us was that the resort opened the new Jerk Tree House, which serves jerk chicken and pork, on the last day of our stay. It's a really cool setup as a tree house.Probably the only thing that would have affected us negatively was the resort was in the process of upgrading the generator to deal with electricity issues. There we several planned power shutdowns, which we were made aware of at check-in but there were several that just happened at different times usually for only a few minutes. This was annoying and we spoke to Chris, the guest service manager, who gave us complimentary couples massages, facials and Segway tours to compensate us for the inconvenience. A BIG shoutout to him for taking care of us. The power situation is all resolved now and hopefully the generator will make sure that there is always power. The massage was awesome, overlooking the beach. I purchased some incredible smelling body oil and face cream. All in all we would return in heartbeat. We all agreed this resort ticked all of our boxes in what is important in a resort. Nothing ever felt crowded even though there were plenty of people. It had the best entertainement/activities. The bars, pools and jacuzzis were open late. The lazy river and slides were fun and gave us something different to do. We will return again!
Stayed here for 5 days. Took the private tour of Island with Al our driver who was awesome! Enjoyed the entertainment, food and drinks. The pools, River and waterslide were very nice! All the staff were friendly. Rooms were nice and clean. The only downside was the wind on occasion. I would like to come back and stay on the adults only side but the family side was quiet and fun as well.
We stayed 4 nights at coconut bay resort and it was wonderful. The staff was amazing, and always extra friendly. They found out it was my wife's birthday and twice when we came back to our room there was champagne and cake waiting for us. The workers around the pool sang happy birthday and Danner was amazing. She was sincere and went out of her way to make my wife feel wonderful. Security guard Petular bought my wife an island bracelet and explained from the heart what each color on the bracelet meant. The food was great, pools great, and the view was amazing. We will definitely be returning next year. Thanks to all of the staff at coconut bay
