East Winds Inn

- All Inclusive Features
This was our sixth visit and Eastwinds is still as special as the first visit.ALL the staff, as mentioned before, are really lovely and will do anything to make your stay special. The newly refurbished bathrooms are really lovely and the new sunloungers on the beach are really comfortable (the old ones were really past their sell by date!).The Champagne Sunset Cruise was as special as ever and sailing on the Hobie Cat with the Watersports team is a must.Meals at Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner were always enjoyable and beautifully presented. The weekly cooking class is also great fun and not to be missed. The rooms are kept really clean and the gardens, as before, are immaculate.Met with some really lovely people, some on their first visit and others who had discovered this gem of a place previously.Hope we will be back again soon.
The resort is set in beautiful gardens and on a nice beach. The rooms are well appointed and very comfortable. The food is superb. But what really makes this place is the wonderful staff who do everything they can to ensure every guest has a great stay.
Nice all inclusive resort, small number of rooms, very refined. Quiet and has a remote feel to it. Lovely grounds. Lots of elderly Brits, who return year after year. Friendly staff, food is good but not great. Very formulaic, get the feeling that if its first Monday of the month this is the menu. Beach area is small but they have all the things you need to have fun in the water. Rooms are fine, higher end Carribean style. Long way from the airport, 90 minute cab ride.
If you are thinking of staying at East Winds as one of the few first time guests, you only need to spend a few minutes reading the extraordinarily consistently high praise reviews to know that you will not be disappointed.Firstly the rooms - understated class would be my definition. We had a deluxe room - not large but more than enough space. Nicely furnished with Molten Brown toiletries in a very nice bathroom with walk in shower, the room alone is not why you will be staying at East Winds but it is perfectly satisfactorily. What East Winds gets right is what really matters at an All Inclusive resort. Exemplary service where you are looked after extremely well whilst never feeling that you are being hassled. Sylvia embodies everything that is right about this. Professionalism that would not be out of place in a very high class hotel but with a friendly smile and a joke that is just so typical of the Caribbean. The food stood out for us. Just think of your favorite ever restaurant and imagine being able to eat there every night. 4 superb courses that change every night with excellent wines that also change nightly. Lunch and breakfast are also excellent but the evening dinner is a splendid highlight of the day.The drinks are also outstanding - high end spirits including some outstanding 15, 18 and 21 year old rums. Imaginative cocktails and wonderful wines. We definitely got our monies worth here! The beach is small but perfectly tranquil - the sheer peace and quiet that East Winds affords is part of its attraction. No constant beat of music or screams from the latest drunken entertainment activity. Sandals aplenty on St Lucia if that is your desire. The atmosphere is to some degree defined by the typical guest which will largely be British and in the main, of a retired age. This is not a comment to detract from the experience but I'll admit that my wife and I, celebrating our 50th birthdays, thought we had long passed the stage where we would be the youngest people at the 'party'. No doubt other weeks have some younger guests but in talking to regular's, the usual 'crowd' is undoubtedly of the 60 plus age range. Regardless, lots of new friends to meet and very interesting people abound.Entertainment is classy but limited - a couple of evenings of singers that will cover 'Adele' style classics plus some piano accompaniment at dinner. Nicely done - again, you are not here for the noisy evenings. The watersports are great - lots of choice and because of the limited guest count - 60 when full, everything from around 30 to 50 whilst we were there, you will always have something available to do. All non motorised but enough for the beginner to the more adventurous. The exclusive trips (for East Wind guests only) are varied but you will pay a little more for the personal service. It is maybe nice to meet some guests from other hotels and you can do this by booking non exclusive trips which the hotel will also do for you. Also, be aware that the exclusive trips require minimum attendees - we wanted to do the Pitons trip but were the only 2 signed up so it didn't run. No matter - we were assigned to a similar trip run by an outside company which was very good.I only have one comment for improvement. East Winds includes an imaginative fitness trail which is great and runs a few Yoga/Pilates classes that are very appropriate for the clientele. However, a stationary fitness bike and a running machine have seen better days and need replacing. I used the bike daily but the running machine was not useable due to it stuttering whilst running at speed. I only offer this given the perfection of everything else.We will remember our trip to East Winds forever. As a recent reviewer headlined, it really is special in every way!
Unlike many of the guests, this was our first stay. This hotel delivers what it promises and there is not much you could fault it on. Great attention to details, they have thought of most things: beach towels in all the places you need them, a hand rope to get you out of the sea, taps to wash the sand of your feet well located, everything clean and in working order.Good room with a pleasant terrace, excellent bathroom with very practical shower heads. Large mature grounds with interesting plants. The beach itself is not the best but you can swim and snorkel from it. The sun loungers are plentiful and comfortable. The water sports opportunities are good, Jo was very proactive and helpful. The restaurant is situated on the beach, the meals are varied and of a very good standard. The choice of wine was great, thanks to Miriam for her expert advice. All the staff are both friendly, good humored but at the same time very efficient.Easy to see why so many guests return.
