After a hectic year we decided to find somewhere to completely relax and enjoy spending time together as a couple.Rendezvous ticked all the boxes and more.A little bit of paradise is certainly the right phrase! The staff can't do enough for you and make each quest feel special. Excellent food in all three restaurants each with a different feel.Loved the champagne bar and also the Malabar Beach restaurant where you could take off your shoes and enjoy the sand in your toes feeling while watching the sea! Garden room was both comfortable and adequate for our needs.Loved the fact it was adults only and all inclusive. Well worth the money as everything was of extremely high standard. Thank you rendezvous for an amazing time and looking forward to returning for your amazing beach and 2 pools plus lazy river as soon as we possibly can.
We've never once gone back to the same place twice. Rendezvous is the exception. My husband and I got married here in 2004 and we've talked about going back ever soon. This summer we actually did and it was every bit as good as we remembered. There has been a few changes since we were last there and it has made this place even more special. I could not recommend this hotel highly enough - the hotel and the grounds are beautiful, the staff is so friendly and helpful, the food is of really high quality and all drinks are of a very high standard. We stayed in a verandah suite on both visits. This visit we were in room 219 and it was perfect. Spacious, very clean and with a huge balcony. The balcony was not overlooked at all and had a lovely view of the garden and sea. So special to sit on the daybed at the end of the day and watch the sunset.I just can't fault the place and we can't wait to return again. It is not big and flash but it is a true little paradise.
My husband and I holidayed here for 10 nights at the end of August. We had chosen this resort (mainly) for being adults only, all inclusive and a la carte! We had a couple of issues (which i will come to) but all in all we had a fantastic holiday. It's a beautiful place, with well maintained grounds, a lovely beach, clear & clean sea, helpful & friendly staff, plenty of choices of drink, and (mostly) excellent food.Unfortunately our first impressions were not good though, we tried 3 different rooms before we were finally put in one with adequate air conditioning, we couldn't believe it! It was about 29 degrees outside and about 28 inside these rooms!! The 3 rooms were all different categories and places within the complex, so i assume the A/C problem is widespread. This really needs addressing in my opinion. So finally we move to room number 4 and it's perfect, 22 degrees and cool. It was a verandah room which is a higher category than we paid for. We loved it! Best bed ever! So comfortable, we slept so well. Once settled in here we realised the flush was faulty on the toilet, we could have wept! We just wanted to start our holiday & relax. Luckily this was fixed quickly and that was our last problem. We were compensated with a bottle of wine with an apology note & an extended check out time of 4pm. The rest of the holiday was really relaxing, we loved lunch at the Malabar and dinner at the Trysting, both served delicious food. The champagne bar was a lovely touch & it was great to have an hour of A/C in there, although one night it broke & it was suffocating- we didn't stay long. The beach BBQ was a fun evening, the worst food though was the buffet. Definitely not 5 star! We couldn't understand how you could serve that up to guests who were eating at the Trysting the next night, total inconsistency. One thing which annoyed me was the other guests feeding the damn cats! Every meal we had them around our legs begging for food. I shooed them off but other guests encouraged them by feeding them, we are not all animal lovers, i'm allergic to them and don't want them around me, especially when i'm eating. Our favourite staff members were Yannick (drinks) & Francis who met us with a smile every morning at breakfast. They are a credit to your hotel. The cleaning staff also did an excellent job, the place is spotless! All in all a lovely relaxing holiday, thank you Rendezvous.
We did the helicopter transfer to the resort which was wonderful. Unfortunately we were eventually told on the day of departure that there were not enough people booked for the return flight so it was cancelled. We are still in discussion with Virgin trying to secure a refund. Arrival was a very short hop from the helicopter landing point and checki in was painless. We had a seaside suite which was spacious and clean and well maintained throughout by Francis. We particularly liked the evening turn down and candles service. A definite highlight of our holiday was the food, particularly the trysting place, undoubtedly the best all inclusive food we'd ever had. A big thank you to Matilda and Carmen for the quality of their service and attention. . The beach side Malaga restaurant was excellent at lunchtimes. The breakfasts were consistently good, especially the egg station superbly marshalled by the delightful Veronica. We particularly enjoyed the champagne bar and spent a very enjoyable hour there every evening. We preferred the quiet pool and were kept well lubricated by the staff who instantly brought drinks for us. We also enjoyed a glass of wine in the main bar overlooking the beach to watch the sun go down. It is a public beach and the locals are not an issue normally. We had one evening when we were confronted with a local whipping a horse with a leather strap. Several of our fellow guests were also disturbed by this and we spoke to the staff in the reception who basically dismissed us with " it's a public beach" Maybe the St Lucia tourist board could consider the experience that holidaymakers are witnessing and the effect it would have on the islands reputation. At that point we returned to our room to find baited cage traps set up to catch the kittens that roam the grounds. Indeed a mother and four of her five kittens disappeared leaving one stranded kitten that was not fully weaned from her mother to fend for herself. We found several other fellow guests who were upset at witnessing kittens captured and simply put in a sack like bag. We saw quests activating the traps and we registered our dissatisfaction with the staff. Later we had a phone call from the hotel manager defending the practice, and we explained that it was not what we would expect in an environment that sells itself as stolen precious time. Without those two unfortunate experiences one after the other we would have probably given the hotel a five out of five rating, unfortunately they tainted our holiday experience and will probably be our outstanding memory. With so many really positive aspects to the place that is the tragedy. Throughout our stay we were aware lots of people were having issues with hot water, indeed we had two days without any ourselves. As the hotel occupancy was around thirty percent it appeared most people were easily moved to another room. We were aware of one couple that were moved three times in pursuit of a hot shower. Maybe an issue when occupancy rates are higher.
Visited in late June early July, for a small hotel it seemed very empty, but this was not the case. The design of the hotel and grounds means that you have complete privacy even when occupancy is high. Being on a beautiful beach and it seems like you are by yourself is a bonus. Staff are attentive and cannot do enough. Meals are exceptionally presented, planned and cooked. Beach BBQ excellent, as was the Trysting Place restaurant - superb. Excellent range of water sports to try. An expensive holiday but worth it. We upgraded our room from Garden View to Beach Front, very expensive but worth it - the view and sunsets were amazing. Room upgraded due to balcony of room looking directly at a group of trees which blocked the afternoon/evening sun. Didn't sleep very well due to the noise of tree frogs - exceptionally loud!! But part of the habitat. Flight with BA going was less than 'cattle class' - unbelievably poor and downright uncomfortable, upgraded on return flight which was totally opposite, comfortable and decent food. This holiday cost us probably what we spend on two long haul holidays, glad we did it but wouldn't do it again - too many other places we want to see.
