Sandals La Toc Golf Resort and Spa
- What's Included
- All Inclusive Features
Set on a hill over looking the ocean, Sandals La Toc features beautiful suites which offer amazing views but can be far from the main restaurant and beach. I guess to make up for this some of the rooms offer butler service. This resort is ideal for golfers as there is a 9 hole golf course on site. A great, quiet and relaxing atmosphere which is great for couples. Excellent service as is customary at all Sandals Resorts.
We spent our honeymoon here. Yes there was a few hiccups with our air conditioner but everything else was AMAZING. The staff was very accommodating and making sure everything is amazing. There variety of different food and things to do. More importantly DUDELY, AMANDA ,JOHN and ZACHARY are AMAZING!!!!They made our honeymoon always fun at the bar and excited about everything. Would go back for them!!!!
5 wonderful days with great variety of food, different restaurants and entertainment every night. A big resort with staff taking a personal interest in every guest. Great welcome from Joachim and Ron. The main pavilion restuarant had lovely staff, especially Jeanne and Lizanne, with Marquis as a great dining room supervisor. helix was a great golf pro teacher, and his caddies were so helpful on their beautiful course surrounded by mango trees. Tiny was so helpful in water sports area and got my wife up on a paddle board. The free shuttle to other local Sandals resorts was an added bonus. The staff helped organise some big buckets and a garden spade and so sand sculpting became easy and fun and unusual sights for them! Great holiday and we would definitely book with Sandals again.
The resort was very nice and Ayani made our stay awesome. We met him the first night there and he told us that he would take good care of our needs while we were there. He made sure we had everything that we needed and made it a point to make us feel at home while we were there. If you are planning a stay here I highly advise you find Ayani he will make your stay great and make sure that you have everything that you need. Towards the end of our honeymoon Ayani was more like family then a employee of the resort.
Very nice resort. We had a great time, especially on the sunset cruise. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. There was an incident on the beach where a tree limb fell on my husband, he's ok though. Luckily he reacted quickly to dodge the limb. Many people came to his aide as well. Would have been nice to know up front that we would be charged $2 per call we made, even when it was just for room service or if club sandals made a curtesy call.
This place was made for a romantic couples vacation, perfect for our honeymoon! The thing that sticks out the most when reflecting back was the butler service. We were skeptical about spending the extra money at first, and we didn't know that we would feel comfortable asking someone to wait on us around the clock, but it turns out we rarely had to ask for anything. Our butler Gem was fabulous and anticipated every need, always going the extra mile with energy and enthusiasm. Upon arrival she sat down with us to make our schedule for the week, setting up reservations at each restaurant including those at the other resorts, and helping us decide when to do a couple of photo shoots and take our complimentary sunset cruise. She was full of knowledge making sure to give us tips of other things happening around the resort that we wouldn't want to miss (like the amazing street party--one of our favorite nights!). We had a million questions and she always had an answer, loved having an immediate resource and it helped us maximize our overall experience. She brought us special-order alcohol for our mini fridge, quickly learned our favorite foods and drinks, and surprised us with them around every corner. She reserved chairs at the pool for us daily, stocked our cooler with drinks and brought snacks and lunch to us at the pool and beach side cabana. She always got our breakfast order the night before and it was set up in our room right on time as we requested every morning that we decided not to hit up the buffet. Any time we needed to re-schedule restaurant reservations or move things around, she was on top of it, meeting every request even when it was getting us into Gordon's on a 24-hour notice (VERY difficult to get into, esp if you're not staying at Grande). She would show up at our door with a golf cart ready to take us places we needed to be if she sensed we would be in a time crunch. We came home to wonderful surprises about half of the nights we stayed there, from champagne and bubble baths to chocolate cake and bed decorations to rose petals leading us through the door and up the stairs for a romantic end to our evenings. The trip affords you many opportunities to get to know other couples, and after hearing about their experiences without butlers, we decided having a butler is the only way to go when coming back to a Sandals resort in the future. They are NEVER intrusive which I know some worry about on a vacation where privacy is desired. Worth every extra penny! One other note about this, although Sandals is a "non-tipping" resort, the butlers definitely expect you to tip them at the end. And we wanted to anyway for all of their wonderful service. The food at our resort could be hit or miss depending on where you dined. Our first night we arrived we ate at Neptunes and vowed to never go back for dinner (lunch was better). The food was quick but had no flavor and our service was mediocre. Armandos was just ok, but by far the slowest and most un-friendly service we experienced anywhere. Every other restaurant the food and drinks came out very quickly. La Toc provided a great "french" meal, but the environment was stuffy and offered no feeling of being at a beach resort, something we could have had back home. Kimonos was fun, but the food was bland. Honestly, some of the best food at our resort was at the Pavilion where we had an amazing breakfast every morning. Made to order egg station and smoothie station was awesome. The pizza was always great too, just be prepared to wait a while as it is made to order. Our favorite meal BY FAR was Gordon's at Grande. Hard to get into, but SO worth it. The service was outstanding and the food was incredible. Our server, Shervan, was our favorite from the whole trip. You couldn't beat the romantic atmosphere on the pier with beautiful views of the Pitons. The private candle light dinner for two on the beach was a close second. One of the best steaks I have ever eaten, and we are steak snobs back home. The meal and experience was well worth the $200 extra we spent. Bayside at Grande was our third favorite dinner. We do wonder if we didn't have the option to visit Grande for meals if we would have raved about the food as much...While we are discussing Grande, GO TO GRANDE! We couldn't believe that some people we met were not taking advantage of experiencing other resorts for no additional cost. In addition to butler service, this is what MADE the trip. We spent three of our seven days there and it was so cool to have the best of both worlds. When we wanted more chill days we stayed in the beautiful landscapes of La Toc. When we wanted a better beach, more activities, and better food, we went to Grande. Each time it was only about 20-30 minutes depending on traffic and time of day. So worth it. When we walked into Grande, it was immediately a different feeling. It more closely resembled all of the Sandals commercials and what we thought the Sandals experience would look like. The grounds were more updated and beautiful, the beach was much bigger and provided many more places to camp out for the day. There were fun swings, rafts and water sports available, and we even went on a short hike up the nearby mountains for just $7 each. The view from the top was amazing!I can see why some people found the badgering for photos annoying, but we personally love photos and had great experiences working with Raheem and Randall! The few negatives:*Our butler phone NEVER stayed on or charged. Generally worked fine for us to call and get in touch with our butler, but we couldn't receive calls because it was always turning off. It makes no sense to give us a phone and not a charger either. It was pretty inconvenient to have to take the phone to the butler lounge to charge for a couple of hours. Just another cheap thing that doesn't make sense not to upgrade over time seeing as they have so much money pouring into the business.*The room furniture in our 2-story suite was very outdated and in poor shape for the price of the room, but seeing as we spent very little time there, it wasn't a huge deal *The gym equipment was SO sad. For as much money that is pouring into that place every day, you would think they could upgrade their gym equipment because it was busy every day. The treadmills were falling apart.*The cats can be very annoying. The appeal of a ocean view was to be able to open the doors of our balcony and let in the fresh air and hear the sound of the waves, but we were unable to do so without cats flocking in. Very surprised they don't have screens so that we could enjoy the air and sounds without having cats invade our space inside. *There was no outlet in the bathroom to plug in a hair dryer, straightener or curling iron. Our butlers quickly helped solve that problem and brought me an oversized mirror to put in the room next to an outlet. Still inconvenient nonetheless.*Photo shop gives you the photos you purchase on a CD. Yes, you read that right. A CD. Neither one of us even owns a computer that still takes discs. In 2017 to not provide digital copies through an online link or even a flash drive blew our minds. Overall, AMAZING trip and we cannot wait to book another Sandals vacation in the near future!
