Our Opinion

Set on a hill over looking the ocean, Sandals La Toc features beautiful suites which offer amazing views but can be far from the main restaurant and beach. I guess to make up for this some of the rooms offer butler service. This resort is ideal for golfers as there is a 9 hole golf course on site. A great, quiet and relaxing atmosphere which is great for couples. Excellent service as is customary at all Sandals Resorts.

Winter Time Get Away!

What a wonderful vacation we had. It started with the helicopter ride from the airport. I highly recommend this. It was definitely worth the extra expense. It was fast and efficient. In addition the views and commentary helped us get a feel for the island. We had a Pitons Bluff Two Story Veranda Suite with Butler Service. This was a first for us and something we will definitely do again for our next Sandals vacation. Our room was in a great location within the resort. We had Marcus and Glen as our Butlers and we couldn't have been happier. They were always attentive and prompt seeing to our every need whether it was dinner reservations, reserving our cabanas or making suggestions as well as bringing us coffee and breakfast on our veranda. I did a lot of research prior to our trip. I read some negative reviews. Particularly reviews that talked about the hills and the cats at the resort as well as the lack of availability for chairs if you didn't have a butler or the "flags" at the beach being on yellow or red too often.None of these complains are totally wrong just not totally accurate either as far as we were concerned. The resort is hilly. We are generally active people and found our room location (right in the middle of the resort) to be perfect. In addition there are golf carts to shuttle those who don't enjoy walking anywhere you need to go.There are definitely cats roaming at the resort. I'm not a cat person but I barely noticed them. They're clean and for the most part not even an issue unless you absolutely can't stand cats anywhere near you. We loved the beach. The reviews I've read are accurate as to the color of the flags. However, coming from a place where we swim in the Atlantic Ocean in the United States we found the "WAVES" to be pretty quiet and the ocean calm and beautiful. Yes, there was small rocks as you entered the ocean but they're scattered around and for the most part the ocean bottom is just soft sand as is the sand on the beach. Is it true it's hard to get a cabana or a chair at the pool if you don't have a butler ~ It's not realistic to think the the resort can provide a chair for every since person all of the time. However, if you choose to get up early and put your towel out at 6:00 a.m. there are plenty of chairs or after 10:00 a.m. any chair or cabana previously reserved and not taken/used is free to claimThe food and restaurants were exceptional. We didn't have a bad meal. There was a lot of of variety. The Pavilion was a buffet (typical of most all inclusive resorts) but we thought better than most. The sit down restaurants were all excellent. From Soy which was Sushi, to Italian Armando's or formal French La Toc we found the quality of the food and the service to be excellent. There is a daily newspaper which provides information for all three resorts from nightlife (Karaoke, Piano Bar, DJ, Charity Casino etc) to Restaurant info and times spa specials, and shuttle information between the resorts. With three resorts on this island and the ability to shuttle between any or all there is something for everyone ~ food choices, varying beaches, entertainment and more.We have already made our reservation for 2018 and will definitely but returning

A great resort. Staff, pools, food and cocktails were above average. Daily snorkel and SCUBA are free. La Toc restaurant was exceptional. It is a large complex with shuttles to the other two Sandals resorts on the island, you have access to them all. Members of our party played Golf, the hills make it a challenge! We all enjoyed the swim up bar. Evenings were shared with family at nice restraunts that frequently ended with sing alongs at the Piano Bar. Everyone had a great time. They earned high scores in all areas, if you decide to visit you will not be disappointed.

Loved the resort - beach vendors, not so much

Property was absolutely gorgeous. Rooms and grounds were immaculate. Staff were absolutely wonderful. We had a walkout room with patio near the main pool. Did not have a butler, and did not find that we needed one. We went early to dinner each night and didn't have to wait. Food was really delicious and restaurants were beautiful. Portions are small, but ask for as many more servings as you want. The issue with the pool chairs is legitimate - you'd be shut out at the main pool if you didn't leave your room very early to reserve them. The good thing is that I didn't see any "reserved" chairs going unused throughout the day, which can be frustrating. We only saw a couple of cats over the course of our stay, one of which was acting as the greeter at the Italian restaurant :) - so that was not an issue. Our only issue was that we wanted to enjoy the beach more - it seemed there were NO chairs on the beach and the cost to reserve a cabana just off the beach was about $100 per day. The beach was nearly empty and the action seemed to be at the main pool. And now, the single negative. When we had a walk on the beach on afternoon, a local began walking along with us trying to make conversation and asking if we wanted to "party." We continued on and said "no, thanks," and he berated us for not being friendly. We observed other guests being stalked on the beach during our stay - didn't see anyone else getting yelled at, however the moment a guest set foot on the sand, a local man would start over to them to sell something. Sometimes if people weren't interested, the guy would just stand near them for a while. It is a sour note, and the only reason I would not give 5 stars to this property. There was a Sandals staff member posted at the beach entrance watching the beach area, but I never saw them discourage any vendors even though some of these interactions took place right in front of them. I will still be willing to return, but I would like to use the beach more.

Great vacation at Sandals La Toc

We had a great stay, food was fabulous, beach was clean, resort was well maintained, employees went out of their way to ensure everyone had a great stay. Only opportunity would be to add seating with shade at main pool.
