We’re now back from a holiday at the Calabash Cove in St.Lucia, so here is some feedback; We would highly recommend it !!!PROS.1. For us, this was the perfect hotel for relaxation and was built 7 years ago. It has only 26 rooms ( max of 52 guests) and as grounds are spacious, it’s very quiet.2. Access to the hotel is via a very rocky and badly maintained road, so you wonder what on earth you’re coming to. However from the reception area, there is the most wonderful 180 degree view out sea, which is quite breath-taking.3. Staff are very friendly and helpful and food is varied and very good.4. The beach is quite small but perfectly located in a small bay, and there’s no difficulty in obtaining loungers etc.5. There is a lovely swimming pool which is hardly used.6. Bungalow accommodation is wonderful. 7. We usually book’ B & B’, but because of its location, we booked ‘All Inclusive’ this time. Ideal for us, so worth considering. CONSFor us there were none as it provided the perfect place to recharge our batteries, but for some people, the following might be a problem.1. Castries, the capital, is about a 15 minute taxi ride away, and taxis are quite expensive2. Boat and taxi excursions can be booked by the hotel, but apart from snorkelling and kayaking, there is nothing else on site…..PERFECT FOR US !!!3. The hotel is on 4 levels. Top is lounge and restaurant. Second level are most of the rooms. Third level is pool area and snack bar. Fourth are bungalows and beach. This means that guests with walking problems, might have difficulties at this hotel as there are a considerable number of steps from the beach to the dining room.4. Service at mealtimes can be slow, but bear in mind that this is’ Caribbean Time’ and is part of the relaxation process.
My mum and I stayed in Calabash Cove for 8 nights in march. This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. It is the perfect place to stress down and really relax. With only 26 rooms it is so nice and quiet. The location is just absolutely amazing, fantastic view, beautiful garden and the most friendly and helpful staff I have ever met. Especially a big thanks to the friendly, helpful and always smiling housekeeper Jessica and also to the gardener (unfortunately I don´t remember his name but he told us he had been w. you from the very beginning) who was so kind and took his time to tell my mum a lot about the garden and all the beautiful flowers.I will definitely consider a return to Calabash Cove in the future and I can HIGHLY recommend this hotel. Tina.
We stayed at Calabash cove at the beginning of March for 7 nights. We were welcomed at the resort in the reception area which had a stunning view over the Caribbean. After checking in we were taken to our room which was an ocean view suite (109). Again the view was exceptional. The room itself was slightly disappointing due to the bathroom area which was consumed by a jacuzzi bath tub to the detriment of the shower and toilet, which were small and claustrophobic. The bed area was fine and comfortable but not huge. The balcony was small but the view made up for it. The mini bar was the best we have encountered with full bottles of premium brands and a well stocked fridge. The food was a good standard with a good selection and the restaurant was just below reception overlooking the pool area and sea. We took our lunchtime meals near the pool bar and they were very good with a decent choice. The pool area was very pleasant with comfortable furniture which should have been replicated on the beach. The beach was small and pretty but the loungers let it down as they weren't befitting of a 4 star hotel. We love to spend all day on the beach so it wasn't as comfortable as we are used to. The staff at Calabash are lovely especially Annette in the restaurant and Justin on the beach- he was absolutely charming and we enjoyed having a chat with him every morning. We had a couple of small issues during our stay which were resolved quickly and professionally. We would definitely consider a return to Calabash cove in the future
Just come back from 10 days at Calabash. If you're looking for somewhere to completely relax with great food, friendly staff in an awesome location, Calabash Cove is it. We were in a swimup room which gives you quick access to the pool. It has great views from the room terrace over the infinity edge of the pool toward the sea. We were concerned about noise from the pool being so close, but that was not an issue at all. The room is smallish but for the amount of time you are in the room it's not a problem. The only downside of the resort is if you are into snorkelling there is not a lot to see close to the hotel and you need to go further south on the island.Loved it, will returnJp & Vanessa
Fantastic boutique hotel. We've just finished our 4th stay here and will be back next year.Swim up room stunning, but we may try a cottage next year! Our lovely housekeeper, Shermina, was fabulous - always smiling and happy, nothing was too much trouble and her towel art was a joy to see every day. Our evening Housekeeper, Maggie is so lovely and helpful and it was wonderful to see her again.Food in the Windsong Restaurant was amazing, lots of choice and daily specials for dinner and lunch. Meals are very reasonably priced if you opt for the breakfast plan only. All of the waiting/service staff are friendly and enjoy a good rapport with the guests. I can't remember all of the names but the ladies were lovely espcially Shennel (apologies if I've spelt it wrongly). Paul, Bobby, Chris (Mr Fabulous), Safraz, Treyvon, Marlon and Lance were all incredibly entertaining and the Pool Bar for lunch is the place to be, the entertainment is fantastic.Do take the time to walk around the lovely gardens - they are so well kept by the gardening team who are rightly very proud of their efforts. Fresh produce grown in the garden is used by the kitchen - wonderful local herbs and fruit. The beach, whilst small, is clean, quiet and a lovely place to relax. The bar tenders come down to the beach regularly to take drinks orders. There are plenty of places to seek sun and shade.Special shout out to Rohan and Kenisa - lovely to see you both again. We miss you already. All of the staff in Concierge and very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful and will do everything to ensure you have a wonderful stay. All in all a wonderful 11 nights and we can't wait to return. Can't recommend Calabash highly enough.
