Smugglers Cove Resort & Spa

My husband and I stayed for a week in the beginning of June for our first anniversary, and it could not have been a more relaxing, perfect vacation. The grounds are breathtaking, the food is excellent, and the private beach is beautiful. But the best part of Calabash cove is the staff. They are friendly, attentive, and make you feel right at home. Especially look out for Kriss, Kevin, and Lance, because they can make some of the best cocktails I have ever had, and they'll be sure to get a lot of laughs out of you as well. This is the best place to go if you want to relax and have a great time. From the minute you walk onto the grounds, the staff will make sure everything is perfect for your stay. Definitely do the all-inclusive - it's worth it! Once you order one of the amazing drinks, you won't be able to stop!
My wife and I stayed for 2 weeks at the end of April/beginning of May. We have stayed in many, many hotels over the years but nothing can come close to the quite exceptional experience we were lucky enough to enjoy at Calabash Cove.Firstly the room - we stayed in 109 and we found everything to be perfect - the view from the balcony is outstanding.Food - we loved our meals in the restaurant. Chef Thierry ensured that the dinner specials were always different and catered for just about every possible taste. The standard dishes were lovely if we didn't fancy any of the specials. He also made a point of saying goodbye to us personally on our last night. Whilst you could have room service breakfast on your balcony we always went up to the restaurant which has wonderful views out to sea. Lunch was generally at the pool bar and again excellent choice and variety. We did eat out of the hotel when we took a jeep out to explore - and wished we hadn't!Staff - You will see this on other reviews - the staff are the icing on the cake. Lance/Kris/Chanelle - especially on pool bar service are just brilliant (how can I forget the plaintive cry from Chanelle - Martin. Martin! MARTIN !! ! You want a Piton? (its a beer). Annette / Bobby / Trevor / Tessa - the list goes on - The security staff - who tried in vain to coach my wife to paddle board as well as explaining about Konch when one of the fishermen left his catch on the beach for a time . The gardeners (by the way the gardens are beautiful) who used to ask if we wanted a fresh coconut - we have never in over 30 years of travelling, experienced such friendly service as we enjoyed from the the staff here.Location - just read the other reviews its magical - always quiet and relaxing which is just what we wanted. My wife and I make it a travel rule never to go back to the same place - we will be breaking this rule for Calabash Cove in the near future.
My husband and I visited Calabash for our third visit in March, having stayed previously in 2012 and 2015, and as usual it lived up to our high expectations. As people have reported it is a long trip from the airport and the last half mile down the road never gets any better! But, boy is it worth it, when you get out of the taxi at the top of the stairs and see the fabulous view. We were welcomed back like old friends by Rohan and offered cold towels and cold drinks, both very welcome, whilst we checked in. We had requested the same Sunset Oceanview Junior Suite we've had before and were not disappointed. It was nice to see some familiar faces on the staff - Lance, Chris, Treyvon, Paul and to meet some new ones - Chanelle, Marlon, not forgetting Dexter the new manager, who we're sure will do as good a job as Unita. It was also great to meet up again with Konrad, who tells you he looks after the hotel for the bank, at the weekly cocktail party on Monday evenings. The menu in the Windsong restaurant never gets boring, with the chef's specials in addition to the a la carte. We ate at the pool bar every lunchtime with plenty of selection on the menu there, and of course the impromptu entertainment by the bar staff.Being a small resort you get to know the other guests quite quickly and as usual we met some lovely people - Moira and John, Peter and Jean, Amy and Randy, Ida and Angus, to name but a few.We so enjoyed our stay that we booked up to stay again next year as soon as the flights became available, and even considered going back again this year, but decided that was over indulgence!
On our recent holiday to St Lucia, I had the extreme pleasure in staying at Calabash Cove for 5 days with my girlfriend, Lauren. What a beautiful, luxurious and secluded resort! We were greeted upon arrival by the very personable and professional Rohan in addition to the very friendly General Manager Dexter. Both made us feel very welcome! Rohan showed us around the resort and to Cottage 3, our beautifully luxurious accommodation for the next 5 days. The cottage accommodation is sea facing with a lovely, refreshing plunge pool to relax in during the mid-day heat. The cottage is very roomy with a beautifully furnished living room area to relax in. We were on the all-inclusive plan and made use of the very well stocked fridge bar. Bedrooms are also colourfully furnished and beds are very comfortable. Bathrooms are lovely and come with a Jacuzzi bath and beautiful outdoor shower. The gardens around the resort are gorgeous with an lovely range of birdlife to take in. We had the pleasure of meeting one of the gardeners, Dolsey, a lot of fun and a real character! In addition to this, ALL of the staff we interacted with were fantastic and are a credit to the resort owner Conrad. There are too many to mention all but a thank you to Bobby, Little Rock, Melvin, Paul and Chanel who were in contact with us on a regular basis. The food here really is high quality and indeed some of the best we have tasted in the Caribbean. Thierry, the Head Chef takes the best of local produce and really does create both beautifully presented and highly sumptuous dishes on a consistent basis across the breakfast, lunch and dinner menus. My girlfriend is a vegetarian and we were astounded by the sheer breadth of options available to her. She was truly in vegetarian heaven! The Windsong restaurant itself offers a beautiful panoramic view of the bay - we would sit there for hours taking it all in. We spent many a relaxing hour chilling on the resort's well presented beach. Entry to the sea is very easy and the bay is very calm. Drinks were brought down to us from the resort to the beach area. True heaven! Having stayed now both at Calabash Cove and the neighbouring EastWinds Resort, my personal favourite would be Calabash Cove. EastWinds is good but I thought Calabash Cove offered a more personal level of service across the board with a higher level of accommodation and culinary experience. It offers a more personable approach to its service and ethos and this is truly reflected from the top with Conrad, the owner and Dexter, the General Manager, who are both extremely approachable and accessible. Thank you Calabash Cove for making our 2017 holiday to St Lucia, an extremely memorable one!! We shall be returning in May 2018!!
My boyfriend recently took me on a surprise vacation to St. Lucia and we stayed at Calabash Cove. This resort is amazing. It's small, quiet, romantic and very intimate. It's a bit of a drive from the airport, and the road that the resort is on is superb bumpy, but don't be scared.... it will be worth it! The first thing I saw when I stepped out of the cab was the view..... beautiful isn't even the best word to describe it.... it's truly breathtaking! The best part is that it's the same view you get when you eat in the Windsong restaurant. My boyfriend chose the all inclusive option. We had one of the 4 rooms that has walk in access to the pool. If you can, I suggest getting one of those rooms! It was so nice to open up the patio door and just walk right into the pool!!! The swim up pool bar was also great! We spent almost every afternoon being lazy in that pool with a drink in hand. The grounds of this resort are gorgeous. We spent a few hours one day just taking pictures of all the different pretty flowers that are everywhere. The beach is perfect and there are kayaks, paddle boards, and snorkeling stuff to use whenever you want! The staff at this resort is amazing!!!! They go above and beyond for their guests... and because the resort is small, they remember your names. A special shoutout to some of our favorites, Chris (Fabulous), Lance, and 80 Grand!!!!! We had so much fun with them at the pool bar!If you're planning a trip to St. Lucia... seriously look at this resort. It's perfect!!!Thank you to everyone at Calabash Cove for a vacation of a lifetime!!!
