Having booked a meal for four at this hotel which we have visited maybe ten times in the past, we were, tonight refused entry as we had not met their previously unannounced dress code. The two men were dressed in smart chinos and linen long sleeve shirts and the ladies were dressed in cocktail dresses and heels. However, I committed the heinous crime of wearing a pair of Russell and Bromley leather open toed shoes. We were, as a result, refused entry! Even our hotel, who had made the reservation for us, were unaware of this code and were deaply embarrassed on our behalf. We will not be returning and would like everyone to be aware of this totally unwelcoming attitude. They lost out on our business for tonight and in the future. We went to the Blue Olive instead and they were very welcoming and we had a lovely meal.
My husband and I have spent considerable time in the Caribbean, including over 400 nights in total at one of the popular resort chains, and we visited just about every island. With all honesty, we have never had a better vacation experience as we did at Calabash Cove nor has a resort exceeded our (admittedly high) expectations in every way. We’re not surprised that Calabash Cove is named one of the top ten boutique resorts in the world, and has earned its standing in Trip Advisor's Hall of Fame. The grounds are spectacular and meticulously maintained. The service is incomparable to anything we have experienced. Every single member of the team—and we do mean team, as that’s exactly how they operate—consistently strives to meet every guest’s needs. The restaurant provides a spectacular view and rivals some of the best five-star restaurants we enjoy in Toronto. From the elegant table settings, to the impeccable service, the wonderful live music each night, the creative and delicious menu selections—with numerous specials each day—you will not want to go off property to eat! And if you have special requirements, the team will accommodate without hesitation. If you’re planning a wedding, celebrating an anniversary or just want to make the most of a well-deserved vacation, the casually elegant ambiance, the truly spectacular service and the stunning views offered at Calabash Cove will not disappoint. The water's edge cottages with plunge pools and private patios are wonderful for serenity, relaxation and spectacular views, and have a Caribbean feel. The rooms in the main building are bright, modern, well-appointed and luxurious and have even better views! We arrived home yesterday and are already planning our next visit…and taking friends. If we have one regret, it’s that we didn’t discover Calabash Cove years ago!(Note: Although the resort does not offer "butler service" as a category, the personalized service we received exceeds what other resorts charge extra for.)Kathy M. and Ken D.
Me and my wife went here for our honeymoon (10/9/2016 thru 10/19/2016). It was worth every penny. We had a waterfront cottage and honestly it was well worth the once in a lifetime experience. To go here and just get a normal room is a waste, the waterfront cottage is the way to go! We had a private pool, jacuzzi, and upon request, we stayed in the cottage farthest away from the hotel. It was extremely private, clean, safe. The food here is amazing. Everyone says Sandals has (6) restaurants, yada, yada, yada. Calabash Cove has (1) restaurant and a pool bar that serves lunch. The chef at Calabash Cove is well traveled. He has worked in numerous countries, and knows how to cook many styles of food. Everything is custom made to order, meaning its not cooked up until you order it. Every night there are specials, usually a soup, 3 different appetizer specials, 3 different entree specials and a dessert. AND there is a standard menu with some great options like steak, chicken, pork, seafood, etc. You can even order items from the lunch menu for dinner which is a plus. The views are amazing, we sat in our private pool every night and watched the sunset over the ocean. We had private breakfasts in bed (on our private porch next to our private pool). It was just absolutely amazing. We highly recommend it. A few negatives:To get to the cottages you need to go down id say about 40 steps. To get to dinner and the lobby you need to go up about 40 steps. My calves burned the first few days but now I have new found calf muscles (haha). The road to get to the resort is torn up, the taxis and shuttles have to drive 3-5 MPH for what feels like an eternity. Other than that it is great!
We visited with friends for a birthday and loved this place. We had a room that had the swim up pool option. The staff is incredible and very accommodating. The food is excellent and great quality. Everyone goes out of their way to help and make sure you have a good time. The view is breathtaking with beautiful sunsets. Spa service was relaxing also, we had a couples massage which was really nice and relaxing. Highly recommend 🌴☀️🌊
My husband and I just returned from our honeymoon at Calabash Cove and we couldn't have been happier choosing this resort. We loved the fact that it's such a small resort. There were only about 5 couples there when we arrived, so it felt like we had the whole resort to ourselves which was very nice. We stayed in one of the swim-up suites and it was great! We loved leaving our room and swimming to the pool bar each day, and loved enjoying the gorgeous sunsets from our porch, and sometimes from the infinity pool, each night. Although our room was a bit small, it was perfect for us, as we spent most of our time outside. The bathroom was very spacious and the jacuzzi tub was great! We opted for the all-inclusive package and it was well worth it. The food was top notch!!! We never had a mediocre meal. If you are worried that there is only 1 restaurant, don't be! We never felt like there weren't enough menu options for us to choose from during our stay, and we didn't have to order the same thing twice-- except the beef tartar and the baked goat cheese appetizers because they were amazing! I also don't eat seafood and I had plenty of options. We cannot say enough about the entire staff, everyone was so friendly and attentive. We had a blast hanging out with Lance, Kriss (Mr. Fabulous), Kevin (Hart) & Bobby (from the lobby). We enjoyed a private dinner and a couples massage on the gazebo at sunset. It was the perfect honeymoon and we would definitely recommend Calabash Cove to anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing vacation. We can't wait to return for a future anniversary!
