Personally I loved everything about this hotel. It is on an expansive plot of land which is kept immaculately with the most amazing gardens. The beach is on a beautiful wide bay of clear water and soft sand. There are several amazing restaurants including one on a pier over the sea. The food is incredible. The staff work tirelessly and are super friendly. There is a fantastic coffee shop.. four pools all of which are well kept. The one on the hilltop overlooks the bay. The efficiency is very very impressive. The whole place is spotless. The beds are so comfortable. Get a garden view room if you want to be set back from the entertainment area. The watersports are extensive and well run. Good value for money. The trips are also extensive with pink panther Safaris although I had a car so cannot review these. Can highly recommend Treetops Zipwire..well run with 12 excellent lines through the forest. Also Splash Island at Reddit Beach (through the Bay Gardens Hotel) is alot of fun. Pigeon Island has some nice beaches and a small coral reef for good snorkeling from the shore by the jetty

Great relaxing Stay

My husband and I stayed here for 2 weeks (Feb into March 2017). We have no complaints. The food was great, staff exceptional. Beach was small, so couldn't take a long walk on the beach but such is life. Our room was up on the hill so the view was incredible. Room was very clean and comfortable. We booked a land/sea tour thru the hotel and really enjoyed it. Catamaran was suppose to let us off at the resort, unfortunately it was too windy that day. I can't remember all the great staff's name, but Sephra and Lambert where so friendly and helpful. I would recommend staying here!

The good, the bad and the ugly!

St James has given me a dilemma to review because it is in some ways everything great you would expect from a Caribbean resort but all the worst things tooFood is fantantastic with many dinning experiences to choose from and a varied choice of cuisine- not good however, is the morning queue to secure a table in your desired restaurant of choice for that evening,- disappointed also, my table at the specialist restaurant Le Jardin was cancelled at the last minute and I had no time left on the holiday to rebook for another night- no amount of compensation can replace this experienceBreakfast at the Bambou restaurant is special if you get a table on the beach front- however the management again decided to close this restaurant in favour of the Palm restaurant whilst we were here.The best evening we had was the beach party on Wednesday evening however this was cancelled in our second week , in favour of conference guests at the resort which left a sour taste In fact we do not feel the management held the holidaying guests in high esteem and favoured business guests when they had themThe beach activities at the resort were great and the guys who look after the towels and the water sports couldn't be faulted, you could always get a hobie cat to take for a sail- but you did need to go further afield if you want a good snorkel as the sand is very fine and tends to cloud the water. Plenty of sunbeds and shades including a number of trees on the beach providing excellent shelter and the calypso cat team run excellent excursions from the beach and not to be missed.The hotel should address the fact there are not enough staff at busy times to accommodate guests wanting a sun- downer before supper When you do eventually get a drink- the all inclusive package is very poor by Caribbean standards using cheap syrups instead of juices Housekeeping was not the best- purely due to the fact, they always decided to change our room after 3pm ,when we wanted to return from the beach, then we were left with no alternative but to just get clean towels.Sadly, and this is no reflection on the hotel , we had a number of loud drunken guests who swore and were abusive in front of children and other guests around the pool area. In a nutshell, can I recommend this hotel, based on the price I paid, I would say, I could have done better!!

Lovely holiday, but a few 'tweaks' needed!

Just returned after a 2 week holiday. We had a beachfront room 548. very clean, and probably one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in, so no problems the food, we ate in all the restaurants except for Le Jardin, Palms buffet breakfast was always very good, lunches too catered for most tastes, lots of salads, fresh fruits, plus hot offerings, and there was always burgers and hot dogs every day.The evening buffets were themed, so sometimes a bit hit and miss, but in general you could always find something to eat. Morgans pier serving mainly seafood was always good, we ate there several times. Bambou we only went there twice, and were not really impressed, the food served showed little resemblance to how it was described on the menu! Plum tree café was also very good, Treetops too, In all restuarants the service was brilliant, and we had no problems at all with making reservations.the hotel grounds were beautifully maintained and again the staff were always friendly.the beach was clean and there were plenty of beds at all times, but beware that the beds on the beach did not go fully flat, which made lying down somewhat uncomfortable. Again loads of beds around the pools, and these were a different design so you could lie to the nigglesthe bar service was so erratic, sometimes there was only 1 member of staff serving, sometimes 5, ordering was chaotic, I don't blame the staff, its poor management, as they should be able to staff the bars correctly, the other complaint is that only one bar is open during the day, the little beach bar wasn't always open, so quite often you had to queue.the sunset bar at night, wasn't very nice, the entertainment was poor, the chairs plastic, all the drinks in plastic glasses, it just wasn't very special, The shame of it is, that there is nowhere else to go, I know that some people like to dress up a little bit in the evening, but there was no incentive to do that here.Our other beef with this resort, and again its a management issue. There was a huge conference going on in our 2nd week, so the beach party was cancelled, however the conference delegates took over Morgan's pier and had all the entertainment from the beach party over there! People who were only there for a week were very disappointed. Also all the delegates were having breakfast at the same time, the waiting staff really were swamped, and the service was poor that day, again more staff should have been assigned.So, overall a few niggles which could easily be addressed, and this resort would be a full 5 star

Nice secluded resort with good food and friendly staff

Overall a nice resort with plenty of chairs and shady spots to relax. Some may think the rooms are dated, but who cares..... you're in a poorish Carribean island.. its good enough.. stop whining and start drinking Beach is very private, sandy but quite small ... as is all beaches in St-Lucia.. no mile-long walks on this island... and as there is no reef of anything of interest to Fish, the snorkeling sucks.Food is great... actually the best food was at the Buffets.. some may comment that they didn't like the food.... but they're picky snobs.The Jardins resto charges an extra $35 or $70.. but not worth it in my opinion.... already paying enough coin.. not into shelling out more... and wasn't into being fussed over and asked a million times if everything is good..... yes yes.. its great.. now leave me alone.. I'm on vacation. If I want an upscale meal I can get that at home.The staff everywhere is very friendly.. over all great experience from all members... and like most all inclusive resorts, the alcohol is cheap and watered down.....a decent buzz was hard to come by.. even a double shot of Canadian Club had no effect.Choc Bay Cafe is great!. Started and ended our days there with a nice Espresso or Coco tea with a dessert or savory pies.... nice staff and the coffee was Bang on great!Overall a good place, but as the majority of resorts are situated on the North-west side and the airport on the complete south, the Shuttle is a good 1.5 hrs on a windy mountain road... man... didn't realize St-Lucia was so mountainous.Enjoy
