My husband and I visited st James club Morgan Bay week of Jan9 . After a room change and jellyfish sting our week was very enjoyable. The staff at the restaurants and cafe were friendly. The food was good ..we enjoyed the Bamboo for breakfast and lunch due to sitting near the water. The grounds are lush and beautiful. We recommend going you will have a great time.
excellent room deluxe ocean view, food was brilliant a very clean resort plenty of sunbedstours from the beach joys tours - a great day outroom view excellentwould recommend the resort to family and friends -certainly would not hesitate to return someday
The people on the resort were so friendly . The food was great and all the staff worked very hard to keel the place clean . Room was very clean. The only down side was that I think the room fridge should have been stocked with at least a couple of beer. The Land and Sea tour was just awesome and made very entertaining by Matthias from the Air Canada tour . He was so knowledgeable All and All was a good trip
Our vacation was fantastic. St. Jame's Club Morgan Bay, St. Lucia is indeed a wonderful place to stay. Our room was beautiful, modern, clean and well appointed. Nothing to complain about at all. The view from our room was just as promised, Ocean View. Upon arrival, ensure that your have a printed copy of your travel Vacation Voucher (Mine was from Air Canada). You will be requested to present it. Additionally, you will be required to fill out an information form and provide a credit card number for billing purposes while you stay on the resort. PLEASE BE ADVISED TRAVELLERS THAT AMERICAN EXPRESS IS NOT ACCEPTED. ONLY VISA AND MASTERCARD. I only travel with my American Express Card. Imagine my surprise when I was told they do not accept American Express. Luckily, by chance a VISA card was still in my travel wallet from my trip to Europe! And a gentleman overhearing my dilemma offered to provide a deposit until I could make other arrangements. Moving forward I would like to give my first hand opinion on a few things that will assist you on suggesting St. Lucia. I had asked for calm turquoise waters and white sandy beaches. Please be advised that St. Lucia has neither of these. The waters are rough and wavy, and the beaches are a light sandy brown in colour. The water was lukewarm. Not at all what I was personally looking for. St. Lucia is better for hiking, adventure seeking, zip lining, laying by the pool, and hanging at the bar. The beaches are so small at the resorts that they are very crowded. One is hard pressed to find and keep a lounger at peak hours during the day. Now the pools (especially the adult pool on the upper level) were amazing, clean, and warmish. It was cool and rainy during our stay so a warmer pool would have been appreciated. But when the sun came out, the temperature was perfect. The food at St. Jame's Club is to die for! Seriously, we did not have a bad meal. The wine was less than ideal. However, I have a picky palate when it comes to wine. I would prompt you, when staying at St. Jame's Club you will be asked to make all dining reservations for the duration of your stay, in advance on the first morning of your stay. Be ready for that task because it can be a bit overwhelming. Reading over 7 days of menus, deciding what time you want to commit to meals on a daily bases, a week in advance can be overwhelming. IMPORTANT, IF YOU WANT TO EAT AT THE HIGH END RESTAURANT, YOU NEED TO BRING LONG PANTS, SHIRT AND TIE AND THE LADIES NEED TO DRESS UP. Otherwise, you are not permitted to eat in the formal restaurant. NO exceptions. One restaurant does not require you to have a reservation, it's buffet all the time. Breakfast was also buffet everyday and tasty too! Be sure to bring a bathing suit cover up. You will not be permitted in the Coffee Bar or the restaurants without a cover up on. The Coffee Bar is called the Coco Cafe I think. Honestly, it's horrible. They have an amazing espresso machine but have no real grasp on how to quickly produce beverages on it. The menu in the cafe looks promising and filled with all kinds of lingo like you'd find at Starbucks. It take 15-20 minutes to get a cappuccino. And at that, you are NOT ALLOWED to leave the cafe with anything. NO MORNING CAPPUCCINO BY THE POOL. (ANGRY Momma!) Skip the cafe. It needs some work. Finally, St. James Club, during their orientation session, will advise all their guests to NOT purchase any excursions off of the vendor down on the beach. They do this not out of safety concerns but rather out of their simple desire to be paid a commission for all of the excursions being order and paid for at the excursions desk in the front hotel lobby. I can tell you that after doing some first hand investigating and seeking the reviews of guests already onsite, I chose to book our excursions through "Joy's Adventure Excursion & Coastal Cruises" located down on the beach in front of the beach water sports hut. The local gentleman (Joy) offered a better tour, at a similar price. Joy's is recognized as a Top Tour Excursion Operator by Trip Advisor Reviews. Five Star rating. Husband went Deep Sea Fishing and daughter and I booked the Snorkeling, Island tour cruise that included a visit to the volcano, hot springs, waterfalls, and a traditional St. Lucian lunch.Every night the resort had something special planned for entertainment. It was great. BBQ dinner's on the beach, bands, karaoke (total blast of fun!), games. There was always something to do. The big transportation question was should we take the helicopter? During the days leading up to Christmas, I'd say definitely yes. You can order a flight right their when you land for $185 US one way per person. You can also make arrangements before hand. It takes about 18 minutes to get from the airport to the hotel when you take the helicopter. Our drive took almost 2 hours due to ... yes.... TRAFFIC! I asked the cab driver if it was always this slow and he advised that it was slow due to everyone being out before Christmas trying to get stuff done. Otherwise, the trip should talk about an hour or so by car. The drive provided an opportunity to see a bit of the island. Although, the drive is a bit wild. Narrow roads and fast cars! WeatherAlthough the weather was rainy, very rainy.... it was warm enough to not really be much of a bother. But let me tell you that when it rains, it pours a downpour for about 3-5 minutes and then it's gone. It was comfortable. St. Lucia was safe as long as you stayed on the resort or were a part of a guided tour when going off site. We always felt safe. The people at the resort were so kind and helpful. Security was always present. Staff often went above and beyond to ensure that your needs were being met. There is a lot of poverty in St. Lucia. Less then when I travels around Venezuela. But still, tipping is appreciated and recommended by my own experience. Expect to tip $5-$10 US to drivers and leave a tip in the room daily for the cleaning lady. There is no minimum wage in St. Lucia and cleaning ladies work hard, often, and on all those holidays the rest of us like to travel on! I'm glad I had the chance to meet and experience St. Lucia and it's people. The people make the place and St. Lucia is one great, fun place.
Pros: The facilities are great and the view from the adult pool can't be beat. Our room was adequate and the staff was helpful and friendly. The resort is close to town and it is relatively easy to get back and forth. We also really enjoyed our rides to and from the airport with Hilary's Taxi Service.Cons: The pools close at odd hours and everything except one bar is closed by about 8 or 9 at night. The food is below average even for resort food on an island.
