Just returned for a 10 day stay here. We were informed close to our departure date that this hotel was actually closed therefore we would only be staying in this hotel but using the facilities such as beach, pool, bar and dining at The Royal St Lucian (please see my Royal review :).I'll get straight to the point; the St Lucian itself appears to be abandoned but is so close to The Royal (literally next door) we didn't feel completely alone. The room itself was pretty basic but had a lovely spacious king sized bed which was so comfy! the room also had a good view of the sea with balcony, complete with kettle, fridge, safe and ironing board and iron as well as wardrobe space. The bathroom upon entry had a horrific smell coming out of it, which stayed with us the entire stay which was really upsetting. We did report it several times and the staff at The Royal were more than helpful to try and get us moved. This didn't happen in the end so we had to just DEAL.All in all, The St Lucian in my opinion should really not be taking any customers whilst it is being 'refurbished'. The hotel looks a long way off from even being close to refurbishment, the pool does not even have water in it. The general sense around the resort is that the hotel is shut for the long term. The entire hotel is derelict and empty, being given the opportunity to use The Royal's services saved the day!!!. Especially as The Royal is a much more expensive and higher class hotel, it almost felt like a free upgrade really. All in all only book the St Lucian once you have researched there position and what amenities you will have access too and where!?.
Where to start due to lightening storm it took out all Wi-Fi in rooms which made our first week a bit up and down as you had to go in to sera by reception to send messages phone etc so most guest was upset ,But as always managers staff all made you feel better and went extra mile .our room had been painted and new TV fridge hairdryer and iron and ironing board brilliant and it's always beautiful but this was fantastic thank you .The food last year was great and a new dish bass done in slithers covered in batter and chips not fries was delicious hope we have it again this year please oh and some peas .one thing good that came in our first week was Alley and Reaz who I had helped on here we met them and we are now friends and they want us to go to Trinidad where they live X Sunday our second one was Jan Creole and we went out up to Babouno to celebrate with friends came back got ready for evening meal at Rex fantastic and then Jan Creole dancers who we have seen before at Club but never ever danced with them before a great night and after they had gone we stayed up having a drink and chatting till 12.45 with other guest must say entertainment brilliant last year and we all danced to the groups and went to bed late on our second week X Management was amazed with help of staff we even got new guest up doing who let dogs out etc .I did complain to Guy when he came back from his holiday and he asked me to put a letter together saying how I felt so I did to directors and I asked them not to let Rex sink as we have seen a change over years and with a bit of love she can soon be five star again as management and staff are so caring helpful and brilliant without them as well people would not return .I have had no answar to my letter but I do know Rex is closed having some refurbe at moment .we are booked to go home on 22 October this year God willing .Please my followers give Rex a chance hope to see some of you there .St Lucia and Rex have such a lot to offer and go X
My husband and I went to the St. Lucian in the off season. I will say, staff was running on about half staff as the whole resort was only about 1/3 full. We were pleasantly surprised when we found the front lobby empty and the reception desk empty, the maintenance man quickly came out and registered us in and gave us our room key and took us to our room. He was very pleasant and happy to help. Yes, this resort is older, and could use a bit of a refresher, but in a way, its a bit of character that the place has. The rooms were very clean, we had plenty of clean linen, Shout out to the water equipment Gentleman David! he was just fantastic! He can tell you anything you need to know about the island! and a fantastic Dive guy! The food, well, there wasn't a huge amount of selection as there wasn't a lot of guests. but boy, it was really fantastic! and im fussy! Entertainment, they had these Fire Dancers... well, I've seen many Fire Dancers before. These guys had me stopped dead in my tracks. I was stunned and speechless. They are fantastic! We had lounge chairs daily no matter what time of day we went out to the beautiful beach. Oh, did, I mention... keep your feet up during dinner or after dark if your eating on the deck area of the buffet! COCKROACHES!! No, none in our rooms, thank god! Just in that one food area! I've travelled all over the world and the Caribbean, this is only the second time this has happened, but you'r only getting what you'r paying for.Seriously, I would go back in a heartbeat! I actually just checked and they are all sold out...
This hotel is closed so why is it still being advertised! We had booked it 10Jan -24Jan.The taxi driver took us to the hotel and gates closed place deserted. We then discovered that we had been moved to the Royal next door.We actually still stayed in the St Lucien sea view room which was an upgrade but apart from that one block of rooms everywhere else was closed. We then enjoyed the facilities of the Royal. We were told the St Lucien was closed for refurbishment but there was no sign of that.We had a wonderful holiday.Could not fault the Royal. The food was amazing and the staff very friendly and couldn't do enough for you.Lovely beach but the cruisers spoils it for us.They are there virtually everyday and seemed to grow in number each day.Still don't know why the St Lucien is being advertised.
Nice room quite big on first floor sea view clean and comfy. Cleaned daily and sheets and towels changed regularly. Staff very helpful and polite. Always someone at reception to help. Plenty of good wholesome food nothing fancy but nice. Breakfast excellent
