Amazing stay, can't wait to return

This is the most stunning resort I have ever stayed in. We were warmly greeted at reception and offered a cocktail and cold towel. One of our butlers, Sher, met us there and took great care of us the next 5 days. Our other butler, Michaela, also went out of her way to make sure our stay was perfect. Both worked so hard and made us feel so at home and comfortable, I can't say enough good things. We stayed in Sugar Mill 2 (an upgrade from our original booking, thank you Sugar Beach!)Our room had an amazing terrace with a great view of the ocean and the Pitons. We also used our courtyard plunge pool everyday. All the staff are friendly and greet you as you wander the property. My boyfriend and I were a little lost in the dark (it's very dark for us city folk -ha), and one of the housekeepers walked us to our destination. Bless her. Breakfast was included in our package and it was delicious! Made to order eggs, pancakes, etc. My favorite was the poached eggs in creole sauce, delicious. We had the same server everyday, Linus, who was always friendly and kept us informed on resort activities that day. The hostesses also greeted us everyday by name. A nice touch. I had an amazing morning at the spa - a 90 minute sun kissed package. Great body scrub and restorative facial. My facial tech, Michelle, was professional and non-obtrusive. This is a must do if you stay here - the rain forest location is so unique. I loved it. This resort has a strong emphasis on service and they delivered in every way. Our 5 days there were magical. We can't wait to return.

Absolutely Sublime

It doesn't get more beautiful then this. A lovely, perfectly run resort on the most beautiful beach in the Caribbean. We spent two days here after our flights were cancelled because of Hurricane Irma and what a two days it was. Snorkeling, reading and drinking passion fruit mojitos on the beach. Perfection. Our room (Sugar Mill 2) was beautiful. A big sit out in the front with a tiny pool and a huge roof deck with views of the pitons and ocean. Little tree frogs and lizards were our constant companions. Staff was excellent though service at the beach bar was very spotty. Odd. The only minus, as many have mentioned here, is food pricing. Food in St. Lucia in general is expensive but a simple curry was $40. Though all our meals were delicious, everything was over the top price wise. $80 breakfast for 2 people is crazy for some eggs, juice and tea. Including breakfast in the room rate would some how make the experience better. Signing that bill is not a wonderful way to start the day. This being said, we enjoyed our time here and would love to come back someday.

Wow wow Wow

What an amazing place. Where shall we start. The staff are just fabulous and so inviting, they make you feel at home immediately. The tuk-tuks are a really individual and excellent idea what a unique way to travel around a world class hotel. The villas are simply perfection, they are immaculate the beds are the comfiest I've ever slept in. The food is absolutely to die for; you must try the piton battered fish burger. The Cane Bar sushi is delicious as well. If you've got time book a table at the Great Hall, a la carte dining at it finest, a taste of Saint Lucia in every mouthful. The location is lush you couldn't get a more beautiful place on earth. A brilliant day out would be climbing Gros Piton, yes it's hard work but the view is rewarding when you reach the top. Again I must reiterate how wonderful this place is. Don't hesitate booking. DO IT NOW!

A Tropical Caribbean dream.

A sea full of rainbow fish, vivid gardens of paradise, lush tropical rainforests, tiny hummingbirds, almonds & mangos plopping from the trees. Coconut, rum, cola & ice, ice baby. Demerara Sugar beach, raked & perfect. Lounging lizards pampered & preened. ....everyone should be treated to this place at least once in their lives... I was lucky enough to visit...I hope that you will be too,

EXTREMELY DISSAPOINTED!!!!!!!

We went to Sugar Beach with another couple on their recommendation for our Fifth Anniversary. We stayed at Jade Mountain last year (see my review) and fell in love with St Lucia and were very excited to return. We booked a deluxe ocean view villa at the cost of around $1,200 a night. The couple we were traveling with booked the same type of room. While the physical room was nice in no way was the view an "ocean View". At best it was a partial ocean view from one corner of the deck. The room our traveling companions in had an amazing view. We asked to be moved and we were moved after 3 nights to a room with a better view but no adjustment to the cost was given to us. The rooms were nice but all three rooms had big ant issues on the outside. Big swarms of ants could be seen all over the outside. This must be a common problem as there is a can of ant spray in every room. The rooms we had came with butler service. In our experience this was a joke to call them butlers. We have stayed at other properties and found them to be very helpful and a great experience. At Sugar Beach we experienced nothing but frustration and annoyance with them. The food at Sugar Beach is ok but when you consider the cost it is almost offensive. If you are looking for $50 pastas on the beach and $400 plus meals than this is the place for you. The service at the restaurants is also quite poor and expect to have to ask many times for something as simple as coffee at breakfast. We went off premises for dinner two nights to Jade Mountain and Ladera and at both places the comparison was stunning. The food was amazing and the service was spectacular at both Jade and Ladera. The beach and snorkeling were very nice and the beach staff were the lone exception were we received good service. All of these complaints were addressed to the duty manager while we were there and to Mark Sterner the GM upon our return (he was not available while we were on premises). We received no satisfaction from either and the solution offered was a dinner on our last night which we could not accept as we were on an all day sailing cruise.I am sure Mr Sterner will promptly respond to this but his response both in person (nonexistent) and by email (1 stock response after 4 emails) were not what was expected of a property charging $1200 a night and $400 lunches on the beach. All in all we were extremely disappointed that we chose Sugar Beach for our 5th anniversary and would never stay there again and would not recommend it to friends, families or fellow people on TripAdvisor.
