Nestled in 192 acres of magnificent rainforest and sweeping majestically down to sea, Sugar Beach is located in one of the most awe-inspiring locations in the world, the majestic valley of The Pitons. Each first-class villa is placed uniquely and privately amongst the lush green foliage and soaring trees to give you the feeling of being at one with nature and with that, the feeling of complete serenity.

Location: Beachfront in the South Western part of St Lucia about 3 miles outside the town of Soufriere, 45 minutes from Hewanorra International Airport.

Didn't Want to Leave the Resort

I would agree with most of the positive reviews and highly recommend this place if you can afford and are willing to splurge a bit for a great experience. This is indeed an expensive property but there are many good reasons for that. If you'd like to spend most of the time outside where you stay and explore the wild in St. Lucia, this is probably not a good place for you. But if you are looking to relax, have a quite and private vacation and explore some nature of the island, this would be a great choice!Other than the typical features one would expect in a luxurious property, I found a few things that make this place stand out from many other luxury resorts among the Caribbean islands.1. The service is superb even from a 5-star standard. This starts from when I arrived the airport. I was escorted to a comfortable taxi (spacious SUV or mini-van) and chauffeured to the property and directly to my villa without the hassle of checking in. The majority of the staff (you can never expect 100%) were so well-trained, polite, and attentive. The important point in service at this level of luxury is that service providers think, plan and act before customers ask. And in many ways this Sugar Beach Resort delivers that. For example, I registered for the half-day Gros Piton hike tour on site but wasn't really prepared. After enrollment, just when I was thinking in my villa how I am going to carry my big bottle of water and some snacks for the hike as I did not bring a backpack with me. The butler knocked on my door and brought me a nice Sugar Beach backpack with water, food, and first aid kit and advised me about the hike. Very thoughtful. Another example, I was reading the menu in Cane Bar one night and maybe looked a bit puzzled as I did not know what to order, one of the managers approached me and recommended a great fish starter and very fruity and aromatic French white wine to me upon hearing my preference, on the house! Now this is what I call good service!2. The concept and design of the property is remarkable. A really good hotel or resort is not just about how it looks, how much it invests in decorating, using expensive furniture, etc., it's about the ambiance it creates, culture it builds and experience it brings to customers. Sugar Beach is not just a holiday resort, it sits within the world's natural and historical heritage and depicts the story of the island. You will see the two pitons and some old miller and architectures from the age of sugar plantation. Many villas were designed in the British colonial style and so tastefully set up in the lush forest. White-washed walls, dark wood floors, photography and art works that present the story of the island do not only help guests relax but immerse into the history and environment. Each of the three restaurants has its clear theme from hip and modern, colonial charm, and beach feel. And the concept of rain forest spa (literally like tree houses in a tropic rain forest) was also very appealing. 3. While it is indeed expensive, the value isn't bad at all compared to other luxury properties on the island or other Caribbean islands.Bottom line, this is a very unique type of luxury. No wilderness, no superficiality, not pretentious and not much standardization. This place is all about peace, comfort, taste, culture, and characters. I highly recommend!

A Perfect Honeymoon

Let me start by saying I am appalled that there are several reviews on here that have found something to complain about with Sugar Beach. I have been to several resorts in the Caribbean (Rivera Maya, Grand Cayman, Turks & Caicos) and Sugar Beach far exceeded them all. There were also other couples we met who split their time at Sugar Beach and another resort on the island, or split their time at another island altogether, and every one wished they spent their entire trip at Sugar Beach. It was truly spectacular. I don't have much new to add to prior reviews, but let me just assure you that the hype is real. My wife and I are both foodies and were both blown away with the quality of the food. This is truly fine dining and we didn't have a bad meal the entire trip. The rooms and amenities are superb - we booked a Sugar Mill Room and were upgraded to a Beach Bungalow, because (1) it was our honeymoon, and (2) mid-June is considered the beginning of their down season. The room was exceptionally clean and well-furnished, the bed was very comfortable, and the combo indoor/outdoor shower was a dream. The service is just as good as it is made out to be; whether it was our butler handling our every request, the bartenders mixing up custom concoctions, or the waiters on the beach ensuring our bucket of Piton beers was never empty, we were beyond satisfied. I truly have never experienced service of this quality. While I have zero complaints, I can offer a few tips. (1) Do the all-inclusive, especially if you plan to have a few cocktails every day. The menu prices are pretty high, there's no denying that. As such, it's best if you just pay everything up front and then kick back and enjoy your vacation. (2) Before you book an off-site snorkeling trip, try the snorkeling by the resort - it's the best on the island and you will likely decide you don't need to spend $100+ to go see other, less impressive sites. (3) Try every restaurant at least once. We were stunned to meet people who said they stuck with the beachside restaurant every night for dinner. Our dinners at the Great Room and Cane Bar (sushi) were both spectacular - don't miss out. (4) If you are a light sleeper, bring a sleep mask. The sun comes up really early here and makes it near impossible to sleep in; although, spending your days sleeping in until 11:00am would be a crime. (5) Get a spa treatment. The rainforest spa is so unique and the services we received were world class.Don't second-guess it, go with Sugar Beach. Unless you are a curmudgeon who looks for things to complain about, you will not be disappointed.

Stopped in for lunch and view

This is a beautiful stop in St Lucia. The resort pool is stunning. Beach also stunning. I ordered the Niçoise salad and passion fruit mojito. Both fabulous. Looks like a place for a very romantic vacation.
