What a magical place. Pretty white villas nestled high on the hill overlooking a magical bay. Cheery staff who fall over themselves to be obliging, whether at reception, driving the shuttle to and from from the villa down to the resort or over at the watersports - they really know what customer service is. We ate so well, we enjoyed the Top Deck restaurant where the fillet mignon was superb. Papa Dons had a more intimate romantic atmosphere and Embers was good for a quick snack. I loved the slow paced, mine that is, not the service - start to the day with superb breakfasts - à la carte or buffet depending on your preference - looking out over the bay.So very sad to leave. We met numerous couples who return year after year- one couple had been coming back for 20 years- and I can see why. It feels like a family. And that's the best recommendation of all.
We just returned from celebrating our 30th anniversary at the Windjammer with another couple. Resort is comprised of villas, all with ocean view. Located on a hill side, upper villas will require the use of the shuttle service. Restaurants range in quality and menu, all decent but we found the Upper Deck to be the best. Breakfast buffet at the Dragon Fly was nice but could use an update. We booked a two bedroom Hibiscus suite (322 A/B) situated closest to the beach and a short distance to most of the restaurants. Spectacular sunsets and beautiful view.Even though they claimed 80% occupancy, restaurants and beach were never busy. Beach is raked daily and the view is amazing. We went "all inclusive". Regardless, you will still have to sign a check after each meal/ drink order. This bill includes a VAT (tax) and 10% service charge, covered by the all inclusive. We did tip additionally, but there was no pressure and minimal expectation. This was not a loud, party place. Most evenings, there were only a handful of guests watching the entertainment. Live entertainment at Jammers shuts down around 10:30.We did a few trips. DO NOT do the shopping tour ($15 US/ person). Presented as a shopping excursion with a tour guide. Besides our shuttle running out of gas and stranding us at the police station for 30 minutes, you're aggressively herded and prodded to only visit the stalls and stores that the tour company dictates. Mostly high end jewelry stores. Next time, we'll take a cab to Castries ($25US for four people each way), and shop on our own.Sunset cruise on a catamaran was fun. We also did the Land and Sea tour that was expensive but a great time. This included a tour of the island in an open air Rover, visiting the falls (small), the sulfur baths, lunch at a gorgeous restaurant overlooking the Piton’s, and a Catamaran ride back along the coast, with a stop for snorkeling. On our last day, after check-out, the Windjammer did provide a room (104B) free of charge for us to change and shower for 30 minutes. This room was very dated, dark and long past due for a complete make-over with a limited ocean view. Nice to have a room to change, but we left the resort surprised by the vast range of room quality and a little concerned about the next time we book. Maybe 104 is an exception. So glad we booked the newer Hibiscus suiteWe would go back. St Lucia is a beautiful island with lots to offer. For a 30th anniversary, the Windjammer was a perfect host.
We just returned from 2 weeks at this resort. We were upgraded to a one bedroom villa with a beautiful view. The villa had been recently redecorated and was very clean and comfortable. However, the doors didn't fit into the frames correctly which allowed light, heat, and mosquitoes to enter freely. We had to stuff a towel in the door to get to sleep. We had to walk across an uneven walkway then up or down 30-40 steps to get the shuttle. Shuttles were always available with little or no wait. They are clean and the drivers are very pleasant for the most part. We thought all of the restaurants were good. There are plenty of choices for both lunch and dinner. We loved the staff and food at Dragonflies. The beach area is as quiet or active as you want. Plenty of chairs and shade, a huge bonus. The spa is great. Millie and Herbert gave my husband and I fantastic massages on Valentines Day. The water aerobics class was really good. We found that often we were alone in the upper pools and hot tub. Perfect. Thank you to Jennifer, our housekeeper and all the friendly staff everywhere. St. Lucia is a beautiful island and we had the pleasure of meeting some wonderful people, both tourists and locals.
I want to start by saying the views from our villa were amazing. St. Lucia is a stunning island and we really enjoyed the natural beauty. Everything about the resort was OK but I don't feel for the most part that it was as good as could be. Our three-bedroom villa was rather worn and dated. It did look like there were other units that were much more up to date so it may just have been the one we were in:It would take up to 10 minutes to get warm water in the shower and there were no glass windows but rather wood shutters in some areas of the Villa allowing small insects to get into the villa. We had two small children with us and were continually concerned about one of them falling on the ceramic stairs. The kitchen appliances were worn but usable. As I would say throughout this entire review nothing was horrible just could have been better. The food at the resort is probably our biggest challenge. We ate at jammers most evenings because the food at other restaurants, such as Papa Don's, was hit or miss. Jammers has a very limited menu and therefore not a place you want to eat on a regular basis. We did eat at the upper deck one evening and the food there was good. Our challenge was it was also closed a couple of nights while we were there. As has been mentioned by others, The friendliness of the waitstaff and the bartenders was not consistent. We did not do the all-inclusive plan and found the prices to be very expensive for what you received. I would say this could be based upon the exchange rate, which may not be favorable for the U.S.There were a few areas that were terrific:The people at the kids club were as nice as could be to my granddaughters. Thank you for treating them so well. The drinks at the beach bar, as well as the friendliness of the bartender there was great. Getting a couple of drinks with my wife and then sitting in the hammocks that were in the ocean was a great time. Jackie, who I spoke to at Windjammer landing before we arrive, was as helpful as could be. Based on my interaction with Jackie and our love of St. Lucia, we were wondering if we would have an interest in purchasing there once we arrived. Overall we enjoyed our time in St. Lucia but sadly I don't think I would return to this resort.
We went for 14 days and could have stayed much longer. The views alone are fantastic. The first night we were washed out by a tropical storm and our small apartment was unusable. We were upgraded to a very large 2 bed villa at the top of the hill. One week was spent exploring this lovely island which is still very much a rain forest. The 2nd week was chilling out, shopping, snorkeling, SCUBA and game fishing. The food was good, but not outstanding. The fresh bananas are to die for. My wife was so exited to see her first emerald humming-birds. We also found a great mobile BBQ at the junction of the hotel's access road with the main highway. People drive for miles to buy dinner.
