Location: On the beach, 15 min drive to Castries, 90 min from the airport.
Traveled here for 5 days in August....hot but nice and a bit cheaper than "in season" there. windjammer was excellent. Restaruants were all good and the staff was friendly. Herbert in the spa gave me a great massage, Darryl and Tasha at front desk helped us with planning trips that our travel agent messed up, and the water sports were included: waterski, kayak, paddle board, banana boat, tubing....my daugher loved it all. We also enjoyed a Caribbean beach buffet with a fire-eating/limbo entertainment group that was awesome. I would stay here again. I had a two bedroom suite overlooking the ocean. The grounds were immaculate and the shuttle busses to and from rooms were wonderful, but I I never took them since I liked to walk the hills. It is a hilly island. Also, there are one or two cats roaming around the restaurants, which isn't publicized, so if you're highly allergic stay away...they help run a cat sanctuary. Took a trip to the Pitons and the volcano. Lots to do---would go back to tour a plantation and make my own chocolate!
We travelled as a family of 8 with Grandparents and children ranging from 10 to 18. The brief was to keep us all entertained (tall order), but Windjammer came up trumps! From my point of view the holiday was SO easy. The kids were comfortable ordering their own drinks and as any parent knows, takes away the constant "Mum/Dad we are hungry/thirsty" which left us time to enjoy and relax. We had 4 double rooms in a villa which had a plunge pool, balcony and sea view. It was always clean and had everything you would need. Couldn't fault the accommodation at all. The resort is on essentially the side of a hill so pretty much all the Villas require an uphill slog, however, there are free shuttle buses which are plentiful and convenient. My retired parents tended to get the shuttle, whereas we felt the need to work off the ample food we had previously consumed! There are four restaurants , Jammers which is more of a beach bar, Upperdeck which is probably the most formal, Dragonfly which is where breakfast is served and Papa Dons which is mediterranean cuisine. We enjoyed all for different reasons and although the food was not exceptional, it was very good and quite varied. The beach was beautiful. Cleaned within an inch of it's life everyday, loads of loungers which were only 50% used. The inflatables and pontoon in the sea were never ending entertainment for us all, but if you did want a change of activity you could walk along to the watersports and choose from many different vessels of fun. We tried paddle boarding, Kayaking, the Snorkel trip, Pedlos and Water Skiing. All of which are included in the all inclusive (water skiing lessons cost extra). We took a day out on a Speed boat organised by Exodus who were one of a couple of operators that would scour the beach. Very friendly and if you didn't want to talk they would take the message. Our trip was amazing (see other review) but basically we had a full day where we saw Pilot whales which was just incredible. We also did the Sulphur springs and waterfall which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. As other reviewers have said, Windjammers is not the cheapest, but it was totally relaxing, entertaining for all and just a no quibble treat of a holiday.I wouldn't hesitate to go back or recommend although there are lots of places in the world I would also love to visit.
perfect.go all inclusive and book restaurants before you go.One of the few hotels we'd go back to.shout out to the dive team especially!no rush for the loungers, very chilled and everything you'd expect from a gorgeous island in the carribean.
We travelled from Gatwick on the 22nd July for 2 weeks and were greeted on arrival with a $300 room credit for construction work which was absolutely nowhere near us!The staff were absolutely wonderful. Booking Papa Dons and the Upper Deck were easy and we always managed to get in where we wanted at a time to suit us.The staff took the time to get to know our kids names and greeted them daily. The food was absolutely wonderful and there was always a local catch of the day as well as a cocktail of the day at Jammers and also Papa Dons.My husband has coeliacs and most of the time was offered gluten free bread. There was always a gluten free option available to him which was reassuring. We were blessed with absolutely fantastic weather with the exception of the last day which was actually a relief as it took the holiday going home blues away slightly. While there we took a catamaran trip on Endless Summer - highly recommendedalthough the heat was a bit too much for the kids at the volcano and waterfall. If travelling as a couple you will love this trip. The rum punch is absolutely yummy but packs a punch so lives up to its name!My only tiny niggle was that one day on the beach there was poo floating in the shallow water - This I can only imagine is because someone was too lazy to walk 100 yards to a toilet! It was a bit horrifying but my husband 'dealt with it' and we soon laughed it off and continued with our day.I was very sorry to leave this wonderful place - it is not cheap but you definately get what you pay for. We travelled as a family with a 7 and a 3 year old and found the pool and beach alone to be more than enough entertainment for the kids. They also enjoyed pouring water down the crab holes to try and coax them out - this seemed to fascinate them.We put the children in kids club once but they preferred to stay with us despite the activities looking really good. As my daughter was under 4 we had to stay with her which is a bit of a shame. There was a babysitting service but I did not see any benefit to using it as I preferred the time we spent together as a family.Overall I cannot recommend this place highly enough. The staff are happy and wonderful with children. They work hard and the chef Rene oversees some gorgeous food in the kitchen.I was very sorry to leave and would love to come back again to spend relaxing family time here.
My first time ever to try waterskiing, it is something I have always wanted to try Unfortunately our hotel doesn't have this service but a short walk to the next resort is Windjammer I cannot recommend enough the brilliant teacher there called Gordon Knowing I was nervous he made our small group feel safe and eager to learn.I didn't succeed my first go but the brilliant thing is once you pay for a lesson you can keep on going as many times as you like until you are confident and ready to get to the next stage.Luckily I was up on my next lesson determined to do it, I gave Gordon the hand wave needed to pass so you can join the other competent water skiers! This next stage was busy to get a chance to go you needed to sign up early otherwise you could be waiting a long time Gordon gave me the chance to have a go on my last day as I did try a couple of times but arrived too late - Thank you Gordon what a fab experience
