There were many good points, but some disappointments on this holiday.Good:- Villa without pool, lovely large, clean rooms. Very good balcony Beach.beautiful, with fine sand and warm water. One of the best hotel beaches for snorkelling we have ever stayed at.Complimentary snorkelling boat trip every morning. Only 10usd for afternoon trip to a different area. Gardens.Beautiful, full of flowers and birds, including hummingbirds, which we have never seen before. I would recommend walking down from your room to the lobby or beach, rather than always taking the shuttle.BadService, strangely poor for such an "exclusive" hotel. The lady on reception when we arrived was particularly abrupt - not a good first impression. Some staff would say something to you, then look away or turn away. The only time we rang for a shuttle bus from our room to the lobby was when we were leaving, it did not arrive and we had to ring again 30 minutes later. Fortunately we had left enough time!Noise from a crane and diggers working on the beach on Phase 2 of new apartments. We booked this holiday 3 months before our arrival, and, although they must have known about the construction work, Windjammer did not pass this information onto our travel agent until 3 weeks before our departure date. there was nothing about this on their website either. We reluctantly had to accept 'compensation' of $300 credit to be used solely within the hotel, as we would have lost 30% of our holiday cost. We felt cheated by their lack of candour to their customers. Our room overlooked 2 small swimming pools, next to Papa Don's restaurant, which was great for a dip when returning to our room. However it was closed for 6 days out of our 10 day holiday. Very disappointing. Of course, we could also hear the noise of the work being carried out from our balcony. When we raised this with reception they were unaware of the work and said they would pass on our concerns to the manager. We are still awaiting his response!Nothing is cheap in St Lucia. Eye watering prices in the hotel; 1 small beer $5.30US = £4.30;Some evening buffets $50US = £36 usually plus vat, plus service. Most people seemed to be all inclusive so this could be academic to them. If you want to eat outside the hotel, the return taxi fare to Rodney bay is $32US, so the overall cost of your meal would still be high. We were warned by 3 local St Lucian's not to walk outside the hotel grounds at night so we had to take taxis every where.Rodney Bay is an expensive tourist area; even buying items from the supermarket were pricey, many must be imported but even local produce is expensive.Restaurants - quite disappointing; it is difficult to find local cuisine and when we could it was quite bland. Most seem to have burgers and grills as their staple fare.Best restaurants were:- Spinnikers $53US = £43 for 2 mains and 2 drinks; Spice of India $73US = £53.70 for 1 starter 2 mains and 2 drinks: Triangle café/takeaway $14US = £11.20 for 2 mains and 2 bottled drinksWe went on 3 trips and they were all very good. The land and sea trip in jeep and catamaran excellent $148US £118 each. Lots of stops at various interesting places, including botanic gardens, waterfalls, volcano, lunch provided etc. then afternoon return by catamaran with complimentary drinks and snorkelling.Aerial Tram $90US= £72 quite good, we did not go abseiling but recommend the optional walk for a chance to see hummingbirds close up.3 hours dolphin and whale watching trip $104 =£83. We didn't see any whales but the dolphins more than compensated by leaping and spinning for a good 15 minutes before we had to return to shore.
My wife and I chose this resort because we wanted a destination wedding and something a little different. From the moment Lynn contacted us to give us more information on the resort we knew this was the place for us. Lynn made the whole process a blast and nearly effortless for us to plan; clearly laying out options and pricing. When disaster struck and due to weather the night before the wedding we were unable to use the venue we had chosen Lynn gave us a couple new options and it turned out absolutely fantastic, even better than the original plan! The food was amazing, all resort staff was fun, energetic and friendly, villas were clean and spacious. We will be back!We highly recommend the Windjammer, you will not be disappointed!Matt & Amie
My husband and I returned to St Lucia for our third visit at the end of April and we just had to stop first at Windjammer before heading off to Sandals. You just cannot beat the villas at Windjammer. The resort is lovely, with great food available, a lovely beach, pool areas etc, but what makes Windjammer for us is the villa. Normally we stay for longer and book all-inclusive, but on this occasion we stayed on a Room Only basis in a one bedroom villa with plunge pool. Who needs all inclusive when you have that view from your villa? We felt like royalty. Would definitely come back again, and again and again!
I just got back from the most wonderful vacation I've ever been on at the Windjammer Landing Resort in the Castries, St. Lucia. This resort is beautiful and with the all-inclusive package, it has everything you could ask for in amenities, food & drink, relaxation, and spa features. When you first look at it, you are reminded of the coastal towns of Greece with the white buildings and beautiful landscaping. The staff are probably the most friendly as well as happy people i've ever met, and your every want and need is met with flourish. I felt like I was being treated like royalty every day, all day. The water activities were fun and exciting, and the organizers were very knowledgeable and helpful, and any off-resort activities were easy to access and sign up for, and the tour guide for the zip-lining trip, Sunshine, was a wonderfully informative and humorous person. Melanie, the wedding planner, was absolutely fabulous. She was impeccably organized, was able to make everything happen just so, and made my sister's dreams come true. The photographer was fantastic and fun, he was creative and had a way of making everybody relax a bit about the big day. Everything about the wedding was just awesome. The restaurants were diverse and delicious! I do highly suggest to all that when planning a trip to St. Lucia, get reservations at Windjammer Landing Resort. It will be the best vacation you've ever had, and you'll never want to leave!!!!!
The views from Windjammer are beautiful. The pool on my villa is a added bonus which was used every morning, the beach is lovely and food and drink accessible at anytime. The staff are friendly and approachable. If not all Inclusive it's best to shop elsewhere on the island you can get a taxi from the main lobby.
