Family stay at Windjammer Landing

Great service and a lot of fun for the whole family. A lot of water sports for both the most and least physically active. Resort staff is extremely nice and accommodating. Shuttles will pick you up quickly and drive you anywhere in the resort if you don't feel like walking. Rick the manager and Essey at the front desk were both very accommodating and Anisia the waitress at Upper Deck was literally the best waitress we've ever had.- Stewart R

Beautiful, Beautiful escape from winter

Saint Lucia is a beautiful island but if you are seeing it only through Castries on a day trip from a cruise ship then you miss most of the beauty of this volcanic island with French and English roots. Windjammer Landing is about an hour and a half drive from the international airport. But you get to see about 5 climate zones and the trip to the northern part of the island where Windjammer is located winds through villages, banana plantations and local roadside spontaneous markets. The resort is Canadian owned so the voltage is N American and many of the villas have James Bondian views of the sea. Since the island is volcanic a shuttle takes those who dont want to have a climbing workout up and down from the beach and pools to the villas. Our villa has a small Infinity pool hanging over the large umbrella shaded deck and the view is nothing short of spectacular. We opted to grocery shop on the way in from the airport to the resort and we plan to eat about half the time at the 4 restaurants on the premises plus get a cab to go to an adjoining resort to their weekly lobster and steak cookout. Papa Dons restaurant is Italian and the pizzas are to die for. The prices are in Easter Caribbean and if you don't know that you get a shock when the bill arrives. Service is included as is a hefty 15 percent Vat tax. There is a small grocery store on the premises. Plus there is jewelry store and a souvenir shop as well. There is lots to do including snorkel trips, Hobie cats, paddle boards and water skiing. There are 3 hammocks in the warm shallow water of the protected area if you want to really be decadent. A beautiful spa, yoga room, pool exercise and a new gym seem to be well attended. Staff here are friendly, anxious to please and seem to be proud of the years of service they have given to the resort. Lunch at Embers is can go in your bathing suit and we love the piton beer, (the local one)and the delicious fish tacos. Jam mets is another beach restaurant but it's nicer for dinner. They seem to specialize in local fish and the wine list is decent. On Sunday's there is a local entertainer and some nights they have a local band plus a calypso style show with limbo and island ladies in costume around the pool deck. This seems to be a popular destination for weddings and I can see why. It is beautiful, luxe, romantic and the water is dreamy warm! Some of the villas are colonial style and some are super modern...both are lovely. There are several pools...the largest one down in the centre of things is not heated but is comfortable due to the blazing sunshine. There is a lovely sand beach for little children but bring a rash guard ...the sun is very intense. All in all a beautiful place to beat the winter cold!

better every time

This is our 13th year at Windjammer Landing and our second in our two bedroom villa. It just keeps getting better!.Our room was immaculate every day. The staff of the entire resort is friendly and helpful. The shuttle service is much faster with more shuttles and we never waited more than 5 minutes for a ride. There are more shaded areas provided on the beach and the hammocks in the water are heavenly. What can I say, it truly is like coming home. The d├ęcor is beautiful with frequent updates. The dining rooms are excellent. Our daughter lives in London and came with her husband- they are loving every minute!

Fabulous European-style family vacation!

As a three generation family trip, this resort was perfect. We did the European plan, rented a car, and explored different local restaurants every evening. (nothing is in walking distance). The kids had a great social scene on the floating trampoline. The bay was calm and water sports provided lots of options during the day. Breakfast and lunch were really good and of course the best part of the resort were the kind staff and fun St. Lucian people. The only suggestion I would make to the resort might be to hire a fun local 20 year old to drag all the shy teens together to be more social.

Excellent getaway!

Fantastic holiday - despite being family and kids friendly (actually ~70% were with kids) still quite enough for a couple to enjoy. Overall, has a very boutique hotel feeling...spread over the hillside with several pools and restaurants away from the main area...It can be very romantic or great or a vacation with kids (your pick how to spin it)PROS:* Grounds, setting and overall views - spectacular * Gym (and the view from the gym)* Spa* Very good food for a resort * Beach and water sports* Service (yes, a bit slow at times...mixing up orders sometimes...but, with a smile and overall relaxed Caribbean attitude)* Rooms - simple, yet practical (love the his / hers shower cabins)...we stayed at the 200 level - had a nice rooftop patio and a good view down the main area and the oceanCONS:* Need a bit more night entertainment for the adults...yes, there were shows, always some live music, etc...but, because it is all happening at the same area by the main bar - starts to feel stale on day 3...perhaps having one of the beach bars open at night will spread the crowds and allow for at least a different setting.
