Location: On the beach, 15 min drive to Castries, 90 min from the airport.
If I could improve one thing, I would suggest air conditioning in the entire villa versus just the bedrooms. There was a steady breeze, but it was still pretty warm in the living areas. Again I can't say enough about the staff and the delicious food. Our family had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend the Windjammer to others.
All abit last minute due to family commitments....but we chose a week on St Lucia, just for a well needed break.Picked Windjammer Landing, as we'd heard good reports on the place. A little concerned that it was/is AI, as we'd not experienced one for around 15 years, the last time we did was not favourable (on a different Caribbean island I must add). The food at that place was all buffet...piled high and not that good to be honest.Windjammer is definitely NOT LIKE THAT. There are five places to eat, all with different menus, and your served, rather than help yourself (if that's your thing). The food is well cooked, presented nicely, and the staff VERY friendly and attentive.Large bar in the main dining area is fine, large amount of choice for Cocktails, local and imported beer, and numerous spirits are all up for consumption, there's a small bar on the beach that's open until around 4:30, and you can also get a drink at another beach bar until around 6 ( I think ).. Bottomline there was always somewhere open if drink is your thing. Again, we found the staff at the bars really friendly. Our Apartment/Villa was abit of a walk up a steepish hill.....great for walking off your breakfast/lunch/evening meal and whatever booze you'd had, but like I said.....steepish...not for the faint hearted, or someone who's not in the best of health. There are regular shuttles to take you to and from your room/villa etc....again, staff really friendly. Our Villa was nicely appointed.......HUGE bed, nice big walk in shower, and pretty private......quiet as well, but remember this is the low season there, the hotel wasn't very busy at all.Plenty to do on the daily board, there's non motorised water sports, a really good gym, tennis courts, and the walks up the hills to keep you fit. And aquarobics most days.A band most nights, and dancers and a fireeater on our last night which was great to watch. If staying at the resort is what you want to do, it's fine. But if you want to get out and about, it's either renting a car, or a cab. There was no bus service that we were aware of than ran to the hotel. You can stay at Windjammer on just a board basis, the kitchen in our Villa was very well equipped, but you would need to get your food from the supermarket which is a cab ride away........not a walk.Would we stay there again ? Yes definitely, but it is quite isolated. If going to different restaurants is your thing, away from a resort complex, then I would suggest a little further up the coast at Rodney Bay may cater for your needs a little better. But Windjammer is an excellent choice for just staying in the one place. All the tour operators are there at the hotel, so you can get out to see the island from there. We really enjoyed our time there, it's not cheap......but not super expensive either, it's really good value for money.Highly recommend that you give it a look.
We loved the resort the staff was friendly and accommodating, the room was very clean my son loved the kids zone, the resort itself had a lit to do. They provide shuttle's to and from room's. The trip from the airport to the resort is an hour. I just wished they had a staff night with authentic island food.
This place is fantastic, staff are wonderful and so helpful.Mel the wedding organiser is the best!she took care of everything all the planning & some even in her own time she went of her way to do something's we needed .A truly lovely person ,who is simply great at her job !we got married here 10 yrs previous and took the children back for the blessing. It was simply perfect .We will go back again soon and they are improving the place year on year just gets better .Huge thankyou's all round .x
We went to Windjammer as a group of 4 (with 2 teenagers). We all loved it. Windjammer is beautiful. The grounds are beautiful. The staff is friendly. One thing to know up front: this is not a typical resort where you walk out of your room and have easy access to the resort. The villas go up the mountain. They do have shuttles. You simply call and request a shuttle and one will be at your villa within 1 to 15 minutes. Shuttles run from the resort every 15 minutes to bring you back to your villa. The food was magnificent! We did not have a single bad meal there. We ate at Papa Don's, Upper Deck, Dragonfly, and lunches were always at Embers on the beach (other than excursion days). We chose to do the Rain Forest Tranopy Adventure (gondola and ziplining) and the Soufriere Land and Sea Combo. Both were great. The water sports at the resort were great! Paddle boats, sailing, paddle boards, water skiing, kayaking... with the All Inclusive option all of these activities are free. We did a lot of water sports. There is table tennis (not ping pong, actual table tennis) on the beach, not far from the pool. There are water hammocks and a giant water trampoline in the ocean (in the roped off areas). Our villa was 415 and it was very large. We had a full kitchen, full dining room, full living area, washer & dryer, and a bathroom downstairs. There is a circular staircase that takes you upstairs where we had 2 large bedrooms with full bathrooms in each. Each bedroom had its own balcony. Our patio had loungers, a table and chairs, and a pool. We enjoyed being at our villa as much as we enjoyed being down in the resort area. We chose to book a helicopter to take us from the UVF airport to the resort. If you are interested, that is something you can reserve ahead of time with the Windjammer staff. If you are not concerned about having to take shuttles to get to and from your villa, this is a beautiful place to stay.
