- What's Included
Just returned from stay with my wife at the Alamanda Resort. The Resort is perfectly situated...only steps away from the middle of Orient Bay Beach and OB Village. Check-in experience was a piece of cake. Customer service was exceptional. Room a little dated but very well maintained. Free breakfast with pastries and fruit was perfect. Nice swimming pool open 24/7. My only complaints about our experience was the bed mattress, which we found to be exceptionally firm...if not hard. Notwithstanding, I would give this a resort a 4 out of 5. On a side note, we highly recommend the trip to Pinel Island, which was a very nice diversion from the rougher Atlantic Beach.
If beach is what you're going for on St. Martin, this is the place to be! Excellent hotel, with spacious clean rooms and very comfortable beds. It's just a minutes walk from Orient beach and the hotel offers lounge chairs at Kakoa, which has great beach service....just image cocktails, champagne and fresh fruit being served to your lounge chair while people watching and being on a beautiful white sandy beach with turquoise waters! Best part, at the end of your day you can easily stroll back to your room, while being greeted by the friendlies staff on island.
I was impressed by the very friendly service! Especially for the French they make an exception. Friendly, helpfull and open for any question. The rooms were a little old and could use some paint but nothing to complain. Good value for the money!
The Orient Bay area on St. Martin is very low key. Staying with that theme, is the Alamanda Resort. The hotel is very clean and comfortable. The front desk staff is very knowledgeable and will assist with anything (within reason, of course) to make your stay enjoyable and pleasant. Our room was very nice - all amenities worked without problems (we did not use the microwave or cook top). We stayed for the week of June 10th - 17th in a second floor room. Great view of the courtyard and beach. The beach is less than 200 yards/meters to the beachfront. We utilized the co-op with Kakao Beach Bar & Restaurant for beach lounge chairs (with cushions) and an umbrella and table. Ate lunches at the restaurant (opted out of hailing a waiter to our lounge chairs). Food was very good and we were able to charge it to our room. Note: Tips aren't accepted on room charges and Credit card charges - so tip in cash. Dinners were in Orient Bay Village: Le Piment and Table d'Antoine were the best (we ate twice at each - suppose I'll write a review on their sites) and we were split on Little Italy's food (service was horrid!). But I digressed. The Alamanda Resort is a great, small hotel. We'd go back in a heartbeat!
My wife and I stayed a week at this wonderful resort, which was our first time visiting St. Martin. The location was perfect, one side bordered the beach in close proximity to all the beach bars and restaurants. The other side was a few feet from a small plaza that held another 7 or 8 restaurants, grocery shop and shopping. The location could not be better. The room was spacious and the balcony very private and peaceful to enjoy some quiet time. Besides all this, what really made the trip was the resort host Laurent and his staff - who could not have been more gracious and accommodating. We felt like we were staying with friends. This has now become "our place" and look forward to many more visits.
