- What's Included
We spent a relaxing week at this resort. The hotel was great, clean room, private deck off the room, very friendly staff, great continental breakfast (or more options if you choose, had a delicious omelet on the last day). Best part was that everything we needed was so convenient. We were just steps away from Orient Beach which is great for long walks and people watching. The hotel has an arrangement with the Kakao Beach Bar and Restaurant which oversees the lounge chairs and umbrellas for their guests. Chairs and umbrellas were always available regardless of the time of day (no need to run out in the early a.m. with your towel to reserve a chair as is the case at other resorts). The Kakao Beach Bar also serves delicious lunch fare. Steps away from the resort in the other direction is a plaza with several restaurants (we had very good meals at all of them) and a mini mart stocked with the essentials including a great selection of French wines. Grand Case is a short cab ride away and also offers fabulous dining options.
My wife and I stayed at the Alamanda resort from January 1 thru January 8. The rooms and view were awesome. We stayed in Room 227 on the second floor. Clean and comfortable maid service was top of the line. The view from our room was gorgeous the balcony was our favorite place to hang out after a day at Orient Bay. This was our 4th stay on St. Martin and by far our favorite. The entire staff was friendly and we enjoyed our conversations with Laurent. The French toast at breakfast was outstanding worth the price. A basket of assorted croissants, coffee and fruit were included. The resort is steps away from Orient Bay. We did not use the beach that was included instead we went to our spot Kontiki where Flavio took awesome care of us. We did parasail and it was a lot of fun and $80 for the two of us. The grocery store in the village next to the hotel was convenient to pick up snacks, beer, water etc. which we stored in our refrigerator. The restaurants in the village were awesome. Le P'tit Bistro was our favorite and after trying a few others this by far was the best. We did rent a car and did some shopping at our jeweler Ballerina, we've been going there for over 15 years and they are honest. They also have a shop that we've visited on St. Thomas. We had such a great time and the location couldn't be beat we already rebooked for March! We usually like to stay at different resorts each time we travel however we were so impressed we chose to return to this resort as it was the best we've stayed at in St. Martin! See you soon Alamanda! Tom & Kathy
clean, convenient to beach, numerous nearby restaurants, friendly staff, lovely rooms, nice breakfasts. We had a great time. The grounds are beautiful without being pretentious. The resort cats--and have you noticed that there is ALWAYS at least one resort cat?--are calicos. Each room has a private veranda opening toward the courtyard and pool. Breakfasts (served in the courtyard poolside) were coffee, juice, fresh fruit and bread basket, with the option of ordering eggs or pancakes, etc.
European flair island close to the US. Hotel great, food at hotel great, rooms great, staff great. Ideal for families, on the beach which is very-very windy at times and the waves can be big. Be prepared, go to the other side of the island for calm seas. Rent a car in advance and every night explore the island. Good restaurants all around including the hotel's restaurant. Good supermarkets too for small shopping or snacks. Staff at the hotel are great, we made so many friends. Hotel is a good deal budget wise.
Alamanda Resort is a wonderfully sweet homey spot on Orient Beach. I'll start with my favorites, crystal clear waters and delicious meals.. I only stayed one night and wish I could have extended. The beach level deluxe room was perfect. Close to all. In walking distance there are cafes and shops and in relation the prices are reasonable. I recommend to rent a car and go to Marigot and of course hit the dutch side. Fairly easy to navigate for someone who has never driven in the Islands.St. Martin was surprisingly beautiful and friendly, a first time visit and can't wait to return.
