- What's Included
My wife and I stayed a week at this wonderful resort, which was our first time visiting St. Martin. The location was perfect, one side bordered the beach in close proximity to all the beach bars and restaurants. The other side was a few feet from a small plaza that held another 7 or 8 restaurants, grocery shop and shopping. The location could not be better. The room was spacious and the balcony very private and peaceful to enjoy some quiet time. Besides all this, what really made the trip was the resort host Laurent and his staff - who could not have been more gracious and accommodating. We felt like we were staying with friends. This has now become "our place" and look forward to many more visits.
My wife and I returned to Orient Bay on our 20th anniversary, the only other time being one of our honeymoon's cruise ship stops. The hotel was quaint and clean, and the included breakfast was great. Most days we either walked to the beach and took advantage of Kakao's included chairs and umbrellas or walked down to Orange Fever and paid their minimal price to hang there. Everyone at the hotel was friendly and the area restaurants are very good. I'd recommend having a car. The parking is easy and free, and it's nice to explore the other parts of the island for food (Grand Bae) or secluded beaches. We went to the Dutch side a few times but absolutely enjoyed the French side better. A note for American travelers: European service is different than what we are used to, so when you are at the beach clubs the servers are not ignoring you, they are waiting to be called over because that's how many European customers prefer it. It doesn't seem like a big deal but I did see quite a few American day visitors not understand and think they were being ignored.
I was very impressed with this hotel. Very clean, generous and friendly staff and very convenient to the beach and nearby restaurants. I had breakfast every morning and it was simple and very good. Its not elaborate by any means, but that's not what I wanted on this trip.
Stayed here on the recommendation of friends who stayed here. We were not disappointed and can recommend it to others. The hotel is right in the heart of the Orient Bay action. There's a great little grocery store which had all of the basics we needed, plus a nice selection of French products, at relatively reasonable prices. Lots of restaurants / bars in easy walkable proximity in the little village and along the beachfront. Complimentary breakfast included a basket of breads with butter and jam, a small bowl of mixed fruit, and coffee. Kitchen will also provide you with a small pot for coffee which you can take to your room. Our hotel room was large and had a large covered patio with two teak deck chairs. There was a refrigerator, microwave, and two burner cook top plus basic utensils and cookware. The pool water temperature was warm and refreshing after a day on the beach. The sand chairs and umbrellas provided at the beach were put away each day by 6pm so rather than sit on our towels in the sand we moved to the pool. All of the staff was great with the exception of one female during the day shift at the reception desk who was not very friendly. Beautiful beach just 50' or so from the hotel.
Great location, surrounded by lots of restaurants and bordering a beautiful beach. Easy to go Barhopping along the beach, do water sports or just relax in the sunshine. Good location for adults. Orient Beach is clothing optional, like the beaches in Europe. However, people here seem to be tourists and all are staying clothed! I would not hesitate to bring my family here.
