Divi Little Bay Beach Resort

We cruise fairly often and have visited all the touristy sights of interest to us in St. Maarten. We have started doing resort Day Passes there, and I love spending my time on the beach; my travel partner loves to snorkel from the beach. We don't think we could have found a better place to spend a day than Divi Little Bay Resort. There is no fee for a Day Pass. We almost hate to call attention to it, but it's too good not to share. The beach is lovely and kept clean, there are plenty of chairs and umbrellas to rent, the beach bar is well-stocked, the beach restaurant food is excellent, restrooms are available, staff is friendly, and snorkeling wonderful from shore. There were a few offers from vendors, but a smile and "No thank you" was all that was necessary. After several different cruise days there, we really want to plan a vacation and go stay for a week.
Although we only stayed for two nights, we were totally satisfied with our upgrade deluxe one bedroom, the beach, the pool, the food and entertainment. The drinks were icy cold, the service was friendly and the parrot very colourful! The bonus was the short walk to the Fort at the top of the hill. Lovely view and good sense of the history.
We began in a different resort and quickly took our loss and moved here. Divi staff helped make our change possible with quick and caring help from the front desk. The food though pricey was excellent with large servings. Our one bedroom was as large as an apartment, with a large kitchen. The beaches were clean and faded into the blue sea. Great location near the city.
My husband and I stayed at this resort around the end of April. We arrived at the resort during check out time so needless to say there were people everywhere. The lobby is outside so at least there was plenty of room to stand around and wait. We had booked a studio for our trip, however, upon check-in we were excited to be upgraded to a one bedroom. Because our room was not ready, they offered to store our bags so that we could walk around he resort freely. Did I mention we were greeted with a rum punch??...yum. After finally arriving at our room with the help of one of the friendly bellmen and his cart, although excited about the view, we were a bit disappointed that the room was a bit dated, had a funny smell, and the bathroom was not cleaned. We decided to just enjoy our vacation and took showers and went to bed. The shower was stopped up and would not drain properly. The next morning we woke up and went out onto the balcony just in time to see a cruise ship pulling into the port. What an awesome sight. However, we were still not pleased with our accommodations and went to the front desk and spoke with the manager on duty, a lovely lady originally from St Lucia. We advised of our dissatisfaction with our room, she was very helpful and advised she would move us to a different room. Wow!!!! We were moved to the first floor a few feet down from Gizmos. This room looked and smelled clean. Although it was not a newly remodeled room, it was definitely a bit more updated than the first. The bonus was that it was just steps away from the beach. Going to bed and waking up everyday to the sound of the waves crashing along the beach was awesome. Every morning we were able to sit on our patio and look at the water while drinking our coffee. In the evenings if we didn't want to go down to Gizmos we could sit on our patio and listen to the music as well. The different live entertainment every night was awesome. I also liked that the music usually ended around 10 pm so that we were still able to sleep peacefully every night. This resort had daily activities for those who were interested. There is a very nice fitness center on the property, and the resort offered walking groups, yoga , and water aerobics for anyone wanting group fitness activities. There is a well stocked grocery store on the property that has just about anything you need. We were fortunate to come during Carnival and walked into Philipsburg to see the parade. What an experience!! The costumes were beautiful. During our stay on the island we shopped in Philipsburg, visited several of the beaches on the island, visited the French side of the island, and met some really nice locals. Be sure to visit Ft Amsterdam which is right on Divi property, it is a very interesting piece of history. I cant say enough about the staff: Natasha, Lucinda, housekeeping, maintenance, the bellmen, and the bar staff (I wish i could name them all), EVERYONE was friendly and always had a smile and a hello. I would definitely recommend this resort if you just want to relax. We will definitely be back.
Second time staying at the Divi. Great resort everything you need in one wonderful place! Great service, good food and beach is just spectacular. Will definitely return for another stay. We stayed during carnival so much fun, local foods to try and music into the early morning hrs.
