Grand Case Beach Club
- What's Included
Before I start I should tell you I'm the Managing Director at Club Orient Resort. So why am I writing a review? Because of our experience staying at Grand Case Beach Club during and after Irma.My wife and I took refuge there as Club Orient is below sea level and many buildings were not concrete. Steve Wright was kind enough to take us in for what we thought might be a day or two.Without reliving the storm I will only say that Steve, his wife and staff were incredible. They looked after everyone, organized feeding of what started out as about 10 people and ended up being 30 or 40 people. As other nearby hotels became uninhabitable or disappeared, people would wander down the beach looking for shelter. Steve and his staff never said no and somehow got everyone fed and a place to stay.He kept everyone busy with tasks, relayed whatever information he was able to get, arranged for emergency medical treatment and most importantly kept people positive, in very dire circumstances.Enough good things can not be said for all of his staff members. They kept their sense of humor while working diligently to help many tired and scared people. These are people, many of who had lost their own homes and hadn't heard about the safety of their relatives or friends. It made me proud to be a St. Martin resident and watch the staff do whatever was necessary to care for people.Without exception every single person there exhibited inn-keeping at its finest and not only Steve, but all of St. Martin should be very proud of what they did during and after Irma's visit. From Linda and myself, Steve thank you and Marga and especially your staff for everything you did.
We were greeted with "would you like red or white wine?" Cool. We had a second floor balcony overlooking the beach. Every morning we would sit with breakfast and feed the birds jelly. The room was spacious, with a small kitchen with full size refrigerator. That was great as we would walk into town to the local grocery store to stock up on food and drink. The resort has one restaurant the had excellent food. The beach was small, but the water was wonderful. The little town had numerous shops and restaurants, but our favorite was the local 'lolo', an open air barbecue serving ribs and whole lobsters. CHEAP! We spent a day visiting the Dutch side of the island, and it was what one would expect from a cruise ship destination. Busy and commercial. The Grand Case was so much more sedate. We will definitely stay there again if we visit St Maarten. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is the painfully slow internet that is only in the common area.
Visiting with friends for a few days then on to St Barts.Very friendly staff, really relaxing didn't seem to busy which is was nice, food pretty good from the bar you have a great view of the bay etc.Think good for families as the beach was very safe
We had a garden room and would have upgraded to a ocean view with a loft but there were none left. We did not like the garden view room cuz it faced the cement wall. When going on vacation to the sea or ocean that is what u should see. The rooms were great with a kitchen. The restaurant was great as well right on the water. If the sea was too rough u could use the pool. Walking distance to town was not long and the restaurant 's were all great. We would go back again but the storms have devastated everything. We hope everyone is safe and we will go back when it is rebuilt.
We spent a week at the Grand Case Beach Club in August 2016 (late review I know!) and it was absolutely amazing! Our room was a 2 story "townhouse" type room and was perfect! Lower level had a small kitchen and sitting room up a wonderful wooden staircase was the bedroom and it was beautiful with an ever MORE beautiful view of the ocean right out the window!. The sliding glass doors on the lower level lead to a cute little patio of sorts with chairs so you could sit and watch the water and see the giant iguanas roaming about. The beach was small but perfect for the size of the resort. We always had access to beach chairs and it never felt crowded. Such a gorgeous view from there as well of giant rocks in the water and the mountain behind the property. Several BIG sailboats docked near the rocks a few times and made a breathtaking view. We loved it and cannot wait to come back!!!
