Grand Case Beach Club
- What's Included
2017 was our third year in a row at the Grand Case Beach Club. Once again it did not disappoint in being the peaceful, beautiful resort that keeps us coming back. The amenities are wonderful and starting each day with croissants and baguettes at Sunset Café is the perfect start to our daily adventures. Also, the proximity to the restaurant row of Grand Case makes the location of the Beach Club even that much better. The recent improvements to the facility looked fabulous and made a great place even better. We look forward to our future return!
My wife and I enjoyed five nights here last fall. From staff to accommodations, we were delighted in our stay. Our room had recently been remodeled with higher end fully equipped kitchen. Bed and linens were high end. Bathroom was tropically done in stone and glass. Breakfasts were delish and all were well within walking distance of the very best restaurants on SXM (Grand Case village)
HWe have stayed here 6 times....enjoy the peace and beach..pool is an excellent upgrade.... excellent for a romantic or family get away... you will enjoy it!!! So close to town you can walk in for wonderful meals....
The reviews written by others are accurate, and tell it all. This is a nice, relaxed, place with a good restaurant. However, here are a few things we found that might be helpful: 1. There are no ATMs nearby Grand Case. The nearest is at small airport near town. So, bring cash. Or get some at the airport when you arrive. 2. Most places take euros or dollars. Some places want one or other specifically, but will exchange. 3. Tipping same as US but can not be put on credit card. 4. No place we found takes Amex, most places take Visa/MC- BUT you can't put the tip on the card, so you need cash for that. 5. The SFX airport is about 45 min away. It cost us 12.00 per person coming and 15 pp returning. Cabs plentiful at airport. They say it may take as long as 1.5 hrs to return because of traffic 6. You can run a tab at the resort restaurant and settle when you leave, and tip at the end of your stay.7. Electrical is 2 prong, French, 220v. There was one US 110 outlet in our bathroom.Knowing these things would have helped us a bit. But, this is a great place, and I highly recommend it.
After writing the headline, I started to thing why it felt so good to stay at the hotel. After all it has not the best beach ever, not the best food nor the best rooms and it is a bit isolated. High score is from the good balance of everything. Service is very kind and you have a feeling that these people will go the extra mile when needed. We staid in a two bedroom seafront apartment. Bedrooms were upstairs and kitchen with living room on entry floor. Entry to the beach was just 20m from living room door. For me the beach was the main attraction since i like swimming. Beach is not big, but it is enough for the hotel. Occasionally waves hit over it so it is not a place where you can lay on towel. It is however, safe since it becomes deep slowly and there is no current at least within the area surrounded with buoys. There is also a pool, but who needs it?Hotels has a restaurant serving breakfast an dinner. Although it is popular and breakfast was included, we ended up making our own. We ate there once, it was perhaps slightly better than average, but not exiting. As mentioned the hotel is a bit isolated. You can walk to Grand Case in two minutes. At first the road may seem a bit unsafe especially in dark. You have to mind the traffic. If you drive, it's OK, but walking beside the road with children can make you nervous. In Grand Case you find street food and souvenir shops. The seaside village is made for tourists. I don't really like it. There is however one place you have to visit if you like seafood, the "Le Pressoir". It may look like a shed, but food is delicious. It is located between the Beach Club and Grand Case village. As said, you should rent a car. It is the only practical way to go around the island. All good shops are on Dutch side and that is also the place where you can use most of the credit cards, on French side it is a bit limited.
