Hotel La Plantation
- What's Included
We stayed as 2 adults with 2 kids aged 9 Our clean room and views were beautiful our bungalow was a 5 minute walk from the amenities but we were close to the gate that gave access to the beautiful beach which was a 5 minute walk too. The staff was very good and professional the restaurant was 5 star along with the restaurant bar staff. we enjoyed the local convenience store that supplied fresh fruit and baguettes. We all plan on visiting again next year
The hotel is located above the Orient bay, offering a good view on the sea if chosing one of the highest bungalows. The furniture are more than usual, nothing special but clean. The bed is not a memorable one. At customer disposal in the bungalow rent, a terrace, a small kitchen on top of the bathroom; all necessary to live as in a flat for some days. Breakfast, and diner have nothing special, it is just convenient to take them at the restaurant of the hotel.
Unit in a bungalow with two other units. Quiet air conditioning and nice facilities. Most of the other guests are French and it has an international feeling. We stayed in unit 600 and it had very high ceilings with intricate beem work and lots of room. There was a huge patio with room for a large table and two lounge chairs with a view of the ocean.
Large room ...yes. With a large veranda. Nice if distant view. But there end the positives. Crumbling plaster, broken dirty furniture, peeling paint, rotten caulking in the toilet and bathroom, cracked tiles, dirty mosquito net over the bed, none of it enticing - in fact all the holiday attraction of poor social housing. Terrible wifi, malfunctioning TV and a shower that's a battle to operate to even get a warm dribble. For $340 a night over Xmas! Hardly an inviting. romantic or relaxing sojourn after a day at the beach or touring the Island. A few dead hibiscus flowers thrown literally around the room hardly masked the disheveled appearance of a property in dire need of some TLC. The reception area and pool deck tired. And that's being kind. And a long haul to get there from most rooms. Nice beach....but a long hike to it. Way overpriced as were the local Village restaurants. Friendly staff couldn't make up for the decrepit nature of the property. Simple continental breakfast ok but no where enough for the price. A dispiriting experience. Am used to Caribbean shabby chic and "character". But this isn't it.
We booked a very good priced trip. My expectation was not high and that was good. The staff is very friendly and when you ask they help you. The bungalows are very huge and I guess that is what helped me not look everywhere and see everything. The view was very nice. We had a terrace with a nice view. Far away from the beach but you could see the see and Pinel Island f.e. Very nice. I can not say that it was clean. It was ok but a 4 star hotel has to be better in that. The blanket was on the bed 7 days although after the 3rd day I killed some mosquitos in bed and there was blood on the blanket. We had hundreds of ants and unfortunately I had to buy a spray to get rid.... but they were everywhere and we had to throw away some food because of the ants. Sand was everywhere outside the bungalow not cleaned and we had a bunch of hair in a towel. In 2 others it was just 1 hair. To shorten the cleaning story I can say it was rough cleaning. But the fridge and the microwave were clean and that made me very happy. The breakfast was ok for 1 day but quite expensive for that. It was too poor. The pool area is quite nice. A bit cleaner would be better. A lot of dry leaves in the back f.e.If you stay in that hotel you have to rent a scooter or a car. There is nothing around like a bus. That is what we were told. The wifi was not really working in our room. Don't know about other rooms. In the end I would say if you get a good price and you are not expecting a fancy hotel then you can go.
