Hotel La Plantation
- What's Included
This is a very charming hotel with a true colonial style. The rooms are spacious and the view over the tropical gardens is fantastic. This is the place to relax and rewind.Eventhough you will find everything in a walking distance I suggest that you rent a car and explore the island. You will find that the locals are very friendly and happy to help you if you have lost your way. We really enjoyed this place and as a bonus it is reasonably priced.
We visit St. Martin once or twice a year and have previously stayed at Hotel La Plantation. The hotel staff, including housekeeping, are the friendliest in Orient Bay. However, the hotel seemed to be run down this time, with a lot of chipping paint and decay. Rooms on the left have a beautiful view of the rooftops, the bay and islands out in the distance. You can see the windsurfers from the balcony. Rooms are clean, kind sized bed was very comfortable. We had the buffet breakfast each morning at the restaurant and it was well prepared with many options. It was a traditional European breakfast buffet. Internet service which was free was terrible. I probably would not stay again until this was updated.
Very relaxing stay-- no need to drive anywhere. We took a taxi from the airport and never felt the need to go further than where we could walk. Lots of restaurants to choose from, a gourmet-type grocery store, and the wonderful beach. The beach was long, so we could walk quite a ways. There were a lot of water sports on the beach for those who wanted to do something more strenuous.
Every Villa is different. Looks like your in the French Qtrs. Older resort but clean and comfy. Housekeeping was always there if you needed anything. Very friendly Island hard working people at Villa. Loved listening to them speaking French. Nice pool to relax at after the beach. Beach is only a 5 minute walk. Breakfast was included in our plan. Lunch and dinner available poolside but they didnt change the menu at all while we were there. But there are plenty of restaurants in walking distance that are terrific. Recommend renting a car to tour the Island. Roads can be very trick at night. Very steep mountain roads with occasional goats running free. Plenty of shopping on either the French or Dutch side. This was my 8th trip there but 1st time on French side. If your looking to just lay back and enjoy the beaches the French side is the way to go. The Dutch side is more the party stay up all night side to stay. Been there done that. This was a more relaxing trip.
This is not fancy but it is clean and well kept and the staff are great. They include a continental breakfast (do not be late or you will be told off) . They include free lounges on several nearby beaches. They are within blocks walking of the beach. You can order food at the restaurants on the beaches and they will put it on your hotel bill. This works very well. I would stay here again.yes! And there is a kitchen in the room- microwave, coffee maker, sink and cook top. Dishes are provided.
