The staff were kind and efficient when they had to accommodate a full flight on short notice. They were very professional and took good care of us.The buffet dinner and breakfast provided for the tired and angst customers were very good. It was fresh, tasty, and various to suit most eaters. And the croissants were sooooo good. The rooms were clean, new, and modern. I was very pleased with the hospitality.
My friend and I were returning from St Maarten when our flight was cancelled. The airline quickly arranged for hotel accommodations for the entire flight. The staff at the Mercure couldn't have been more welcoming. We were checked in efficiently by the staff who clearly explained what was being provided due to the cancellation. We were provided with a buffet meal which included two types of salad, baked chicken, baked mahi mahi, rice and peas. There was even a dessert course. The staff had tables ready for us around the marina with large bottles of water to quench your thirst. All rooms are newly remodeled and nicely appointed. The rooms were quite warm, as the hotel wasn't able to pre-cool before we descended on them. I went the front desk to ask the proper way to work the AC unit, and a staff member came to the room to assist. After her help, the room cooled down quickly. We were given breakfast in the morning (regular hotel fare) which again was well done. The property is lovely and I wished I would have more time to discover.I've stayed at Mercure properties before, and the standard expected is well presented at this resort.Thank you Mercure staff for making a bad situation a little better!
On August 20, 2016 our flight from St Martin was cancelled and the Mecure St. Martin, Marina, and Spa was responsible for housing over 100+ passagners on short notice at 10:00 p.m. First, the accommodations and grounds were clean, and newly renovated. My family of 6 slept comfortably. Secondly, The dining area staff and registration staff were pleasant and very accomodating. On the buffet, the food was fresh, plentiful, and amazingly delicious despite the rush of guest in a short period of time, the unexpected guest were treated with style and grace. Lastly, the management team and owner showed an extremely outstanding level of customer service which ranged from registering guest, to carry baggage. Thank you from a frustrated passenger but a extremely satisfied visitor to this establishment. I have visited St Marteen for over 17 years and have always stayed on the Dutch side (for language), however, I will now explore staying at the Mercure for an extended vacation. Thank you, Carol M.
I was scheduled to fly home on 20AUG on JetBlue. Due to a multitude of mechanical issues, we had to stay unexpectedly another night. JetBlue choose the hotel, and I have to say before arriving there I was a bit concerned that a hotel would have 80 rooms or so last minute. I could only imagine what type of hotel JetBlue was putting us up in.I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the Mercure. The room was clean and spacious. Very European in style, design, and decor. They gave us a ground floor room as my mom had walking issues. Bathroom was a good size. From talking with the other guests though, I learned that some rooms had a 1/2 glass shower door and then a skin dryer (definitely didn't work for drying hair), while others had no glass door but a traditional hair dryer. A few things about the layout of the hotel..Ground floor rooms have a sliding glass door, but no official patio or place to sit. You can open the blinds, but not much privacy. The hotel had to arrange a last minute buffet for a plane load of people. They did a phenomenal job. Even their breakfast was good. Croissants were delicious!!Hotel is European in design, so outlets are 220. Although there is a 110/shaver only socket in the bathroom, my phone wouldn't charge with this. I went down to the front desk and they didn't have any more adapters. I went back to see if they had a USB with European socket set up and the manager/owner Arbia was there. I explained the situation and he said he'd be right back as he was going to 'run home' to get one. Apparently he lives at the hotel and was back within a few minutes with his own adapter that he let me use overnight! It sounds like a minor detail, but being that we had stayed on the Dutch side where an adapter wasn't needed and I had to recharge things, this was huge to me. Thanks Arbia!Especially being that they had a last minute influx of a plane load of guests, the hotel did a wonderful job of making us feel at home. I work in the travel industry and not many hotels would have handled it as smoothly as the Mercure did. Thanks Mercure! Arbia you have a wonderful hotel and you should be very proud of your staff.
A 25 minute ride bouncing along the winding bumpy roads from princess Juliana airport on The Dutch side to Le Mercure on the French side by Nettle Bay.We entered the compound through a large sliding gate. The airy lobby with its gift shop window filled with beachy tropical clothing and beach bags set the mood immediately. The friendly receptionist checked us in filling us in on all of the hotels many amenities. Our big spacious family suite had a downstairs living room , with 2 giant sofas that were converted in to beds during turn down service. There was a modern all white bathroom. A huge spacious super high ceiling bedroom upstairs with an identical bathroom. The giant king size bed was super comfy , fresh crisp linens which could be changed everyday, and a great AC system that kept the suite nice and cool. Large glass sliding doors lead out from the living room to a balcony that had a huge built in refrigerator out there. The balcony had stunning views out over lush palm trees, beach front and bright blue Simpson Bay Lagoon. The manicured white sandy beach front was filled with ample reclining lounge chairs with hammocks galore strung between palm trees . The gorgeous pool area where we spent a most of our time had plenty lounge chairs . Giant Mural reproductions of famous works of contemporary art covered the walls around the hotel, with many fascinating large sculptures and light installations around the property. The Bar / restaurant had no outside walls so is open to the marina on the lagoon from where many fantastic water sports can be enjoyed from the hotel, on the enormous lagoon which has no waves. Breakfast was a typical buffet, with plenty of fresh choices as we watched early morning scuba and island excursions come and go . Dinner at night was delicious and beautifully presented. The staff kindly accommodated our request at night to dine down under the awning by the marina, which was wonderful.
