Quality Stay

I stayed at this hotel for a few days on vacation with friends. I found the staff was very friendly and helpful. Most of us where English speaking, but we did have a french-speaking person with us as well. Here are major points below:Check-in: easy and have to leave a credit card on file for incidentals, which is fine. The staff was helpful, and helped us arrange taxis and transportation to and from some of our destinations. Room: the room we very nice. We booked one of the privilege duplex rooms, which was one of the big, loft style rooms with 2 bathrooms (1 king and two twins). The view of the marina was BEAUTIFUL from the room. The room was clean as well. At times, we say a few small ants, but not unexpected in the climate. We also had an expresso machine in our room, and were able to make tea also. The staff was helpful, and brought us towels are needed (I don't think they have those small washcloths available). It also came with a refrigerator and TV. The electricity in the room went out overnight for one night, but staff sent the technician early the next morning and it was promptly fixed. They let us check-out late the next day at no additional charge, which was nice (usually an additional 10 Euros).I was pleased with how they handled everything. Hotel grounds and Amenities: Hotel grounds were kept nicely. The pool area was simple, nice and clean. There is a restaurant in the hotel, but I agree with the other reviews, it was expensive. But the food was very good. Breakfast every morning was satisfying also. There were eggs, bacon, potatoes, breads, lunch- meats/cheeses, orange juice, water, and pancakes. No complaints at all, and the staff at breakfast was nice and helpful! We didn't walk to the actual beach, and we also did not go sit by the lagoon either, so I can't speak on any of that, unfortunately. St. Martin: The hotel is on the French side, which is definitely more quiet and low-key than the Dutch side. The currency is the Euro on the French side, but everyone takes US dollars, which is great. Just make sure you ask them what the price is in US dollars. There were a number of small eateries within a 5 minute walk from the hotel. There was a sandwich shop close by that was delicious and a pizzeria as well. The prices were cheaper also. There is also a souvenir shop in the hotel. There is WI-Fi at t he hotel and it works in the room and on the hotel grounds, which was excellent. We took a taxi to go party on the Dutch side one night and had a great time! Although be warned, the ride to and from was expensive. Try to negotiate the price if you can. The airport in St. Martin is air-conditioned and we did not have any issues making our way to our destination from the airport. I can't speak much on how much a taxi ride will cost. We arranged private transportation to and from the airport before our trip. But the ride to the French side was about 25-30 minutes. It was scenic, and full of narrow roads and hills. I recommend taking a trip to St. Barths, Anguilla, or any of the other small islands off the coast of St. Martin while you're visiting. It's definitely worth it! The beaches are beautiful, and the views are spectacular. The weather was in the upper 80s while we were there, and yes, it was humid! But it could not have been more perfect. Beautiful place to visit.

Not Bad But Not GREAT

I went here for camp and had a lovely time. In case it is not obvious, there is no beach on the property. Pools, yes. Beach, no. If you want to get to a beach, it is a walk-- which I normally do not mind, but the roads are not necessarily structured for pedestrian walking. Food was good. Although I did not have a bad experience at this hotel, I would not necessarily visit again UNLESS I was attending camp again.

Great Escape!

Hotel Mercure has been an island of peace and wellness! I was in St. Martin for a few days and had a great time at the Mercure hotel. My room was very spacious with a lovely private patio, the beach is well equipped with nice and fun amenities. Make sure you dine at their restaurant, the food is amazing; everything is super fresh and delightful.

What a nice place

We got an upgrade room :-)Ground floor, large, clean; unfortunately without outside space/trasant/shadow, The pool is pleasant also the umbrellas are a bit small for 2; the sun is though there.Restaurant is OK, not much people at evenings, menu is not extensive, but food was correct (do not expect local specialties though; for this, go to lolos). The garden is VERY nice, with statues and paintings, lovely, as well as hamacs and other intersting places to sit. We did not use the spa (not that attractive when the outside is hot), but it has one.
