BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE HANDS DOWN. Very classy private resort. The guests are not obnoxious. barely any kids here even though its not an "adult only" resort. Only four restaurants but all are pretty decent compared to most other all inclusive resorts. The best part is the staff doesn't try to sell you on time shares or up-sell you on any type of activities. they leave the guests alone. The resort is pristine and the staff are all friendly, helpful and well mannered. I will definitely be coming back here. I would suggest renting a car....the rest of the island is beautiful as well. The private beach at the resort is great as well.
This place was horrible. Rooms were disgusting. Toilet paper roll broken, no attempt to fix. Carpet and tile floors stained, dirty. Asked 3 times to have settings on air condition fixed. Not a follow up call. Nor was AC regulated. Pools are old and tiles missing. Rude smokers everywhere. If you don't have long pants or jeans you cannot enter the Krystal restaurant! Staff is great. Beautiful grounds, just very very old hotel. Very far from dutch side where all the shopping night life is.
April 2017 - Really clean, food experience was great specially with no maximum at Restaurant à la carte. We had diner every night at each Restaurant (Steakhouse, French (Krystal), and La Mer (Sea food)). Went to the buffet just for breakfast and they had multiple choices for every taste = Very good. We've stayed at a Superior Junior Suite on the Marina side and it was nice, comfortable, quiet and very clean (very important for us). Hotel wise, I think that a little refresh would be good to do to keep Riu Luxury standard that I have experienced. For my taste, the beach was a little bit to narrow and short. Ocean was calm with no big waves and was nice to relax in it. Water was a bit cold probably because it was in April (was told by resident it was still in Winter). I have to say that I was told that St-Marteen was the most beautiful beach in the world. My expectation were too high and I was disappointed.Overall, weather was great (28 to 32 Celsius - a chance it was still Winter), room and Hotel were clean, good food to my taste, enjoyed Restaurant à la carte each day without any restriction (18h30 was a great time to go), but for the beach was expecting a "WOW" that didn't happen.Oh yeah.... WIFI anywhere.... I mean anywhere,,,, and free mini bar in your room. Great to finish quietly a hot sunny day.
This was the first time that my husband and I visited St. Martin. We were looking for an all-inclusive resort where we wouldn't have to worry about additional expenses. I have to say that we had an overall bad experience. First they put us in the wrong room. We paid for a Superior Suite however received a Junior suite. While the room was nice the resort would not give us the difference in room rates back. They told us that we could either move to the correct room or forget the refund. So we packed back up and moved rooms. The room was nice however it was missing the toiletry luxuries that you would normally see in a Superior suite. We only received lotion and shampoo/conditioner. The soap dispenser ran out of soap and we had to request to get it filled. We also had no Gin or Rum. They had to come back and fill those up from the mini bar. Besides all of this the most bothersome was the wrist band that you have to wear 24X7. Make sure you get it a little loose so you don't get a tan line. As for entertainment. The main event was good however the video's that they seem to think are funny. Are not and they play the same ones over and over every night. You are better off finding a different all inclusive.
We as a family of four stayed at this resort in May between the 7th and 14th.Here is the pros and cons of this place. ProsEveryone was so friendly.. A la carte restaurants were 3 and they were outstanding specially L`ile and steak house... Breakfast and dinner were so good in terms of varieties and taste. Wi-Fi was fast across the resort. The location of the resort is in Anse Marcel, considered quite area in the French part of the island ,it is 5 minutes away from the marvelous Pinel island and 30 minutes by boat from the Anguilla island (another wonderful place on earth) Room service were great and rooms were always clean. Each room has its own balcony. Better stay on the 3rd floor for a better view on the marina side. Night show starts at nine pm and the best part of it was the flamingo show.. (as far as I remember it is every Saturday). Jose was an amazing guy.. Always active day and night.. So funny and keeps everyone together... Non motorized water activities were free.. I liked the kayaking.. At steak house restaurant `manoushka ' was treating everyone very friendly and professionally.. We felt like we were home.. I really loved this woman... She is the best. While at L'ile restaurant 'guillomme' also called William was a talented waiter.. He made us smile the whole time... He speaks many languages and knows how to do his job. The pool was so clean and really big... My kids had lots of fun... The beach view was a piece of art... Do not miss renting a jet ski.. You will definitely see 1 or 2 turtles Rent a car for 2 days either from the resort or and car rental agent (average daily for an economic car 35 CAD per day) and enjoy the nice drive in st martin island and don't miss visiting the following places (Mayo beach, baie rouge ,philipsburg boardwalk, Pinel island, orient beach and loterie farm)Cons.. I can live with the negative part of this resort if I wanted to have some fun with the family The resort cannot be considered 5 stars.. Should be 4 stars.. Rooms may require some renovation.. No ash tray across the resort so smokers through their cigarettes butts on the ground.. The lunch was considered the worst meal of the way from my prospective... It was mainly focussing on pizza burger and hot dogs... Salad didn't taste good and the sushi wasn't fresh... It's was an open concept restaurant.. No air-condition..No locker for the washroom door in each bedroom... And no bathroom fans. But the beds and pillows were superior. All over all... We liked the stay and the island visit along with the nice safe driving over there. We would certainly go again... Thank you Riu staff for the great service.
