A perfect destination for travelers who want a few days of relaxation, beach and sun, offering tranquility and fun alike.
We visited from 6/19-6/23 & our visit was ok. PROs:The resort is cleanRooms are bigMargarita, Sunshine & Fanny made the stay fun for allFruit & salad at buffets was always fresh & delicious Nice calm beachPlenty of chairs at pool & beachCONs:Rooms are old & carpet is disgusting-we put towels down so that we wouldn't have to walk on the stains Checking in was ok-no drinks handed to us as other reviewers mentioned. Check in staff was slow & sounded irritatedRoom service was ok- don't order tea - it comes cold!If you have special dietary needs - forget about the 'kitchen' being accommodating - I have stayed at plenty of resorts & the food variety for specific dietary restrictions here was the WORST!!!!! We didn't try the 'speciality' restaurants because they had no vegetarian options to speak of!My drinks were ok- my family did not like their drinksThe buffet staff was totally uninterested in providing service- we had to constantly ask for our water/coffee/ silverware to be filled/refilled/replaced.I would say if you're looking for a clean quiet resort with a nice beach this is a good place but keep in mind that it is with less than average food, ok drinks & staff who mostly don't give a damn! The island is beautiful & a car rental is a great way to explore! Our favorite beach by far was Rouge Beach-hard to find but totally worth it!
Let me start of with sight and views are breathtaking you will not be disappointed. This little gem island is surround by high mountains, palm trees and tropical flowers. When we arrived the hotel did not seem that glamourous and appear a little run down but as we walked in and looked out it was spectacular. We were on the main floor facing the grounds in a king room. Rooms were very clean, bed was comfortable and bathrooms newly renovated. The grounds themselves had an infinity pool for adults and in the other side their was a pool for kids. Very few children when we where their more couples. Their was stand up paddle boating, snokling, kayaking, volleyball court, ping pong table and basketball court that was free to use on the facility. Jet sking was offered for 30 min $70 US, their are several snokling tours and day trips you can go on. Btw 75US and 120US per person. We went on the Coconut Reef boat with Captain Wayne. We snorkelled and went to 3 different island. Their was huge sea Turtules, sea urchins, fish, barracuda right in front of us. We stopped off at a beach for lunch which was included in the price of $108US per person for a 5 hour tour with drinks included called Restaurant Le Sole. We had fresh fish, warm bread, vegetables etc it was delicious and Ben who own the place was very hospitable. The beaches all have ocean blue clear water and are very warm. Restaurants on the resort were all very good but their are only 3 a la carte which is a steakhouse, French cuisine, and Krystle and one large buffet area. Breakfast had everything from eggs any way you liked made fresh to order, fresh fruit, pastries, cheeses, pancakes, crepes, fresh juices and they even had cappuccino and espresso all day long. The selection of alcoholic drinks was unlimited and they are not cheap when it comes to adding more liquor. The staff and team of entertainers were what made the trip. They were all so friendly, Fanny was hard working fun and she has a great personality. How she remembered everyone's names surprised me. Antonine was also full of energy and very entertaining. Big thanks to David and for going over and beyond at the front for us when we could not find a taxi!!! Lo lo's was a great place to eat local food for a reasonable price of $10 US giving you ribs, plantain, rice and peas, pasta salad, spaghetti and coleslaw a bit of everything it was called Ski' the limit. It was nice to get off and see the local area a restaurant worth trying. They had nightly entertainment in the resort that needs major improvement. Most were tolerable but some nights people just left early or were falling asleep because it was so bad. We went out to the Royal Casino on the Dutch side and watched an amazing show that is new and it was spectacular and their was lots of street entertainment and nightlife in this area. The hotel Rui is situated on a island full of nature and is a true gem. You will not be disappointed if your looking for a place to relax!!! Their is also a place you can go hiking to a private beach around the mountain a must try but be sure to wear running shoes as their are lots of trees, bolders and rocks you must climb and go through. It's about an hour hike one way but it's beautiful. Bring some snacks and something to drink once you get their to enjoy the private beach!!!
This was our third time to this Hotel between transitioning from Radisson and now. Grounds are well kept, service is great, this is friendliest island of them all. Anse Marcel's lagoon is unforgettable.
Stayed at the RIU Palace for five days, the resort is well kept, very clean, the staff could not have been nicer and more helpful. The rooms are comfortable and kept very clean. Restaurants are well run with plenty of seating, the food was very good for an all inclusive. The pool area as well as the beach is great although the pool could use some TLC, the beach is a living postcard. This is an excellent resort if your looking for a good all inclusive.
Nice all inclusive on the marina in St. Martin.Food was average for an all inclusive as the buffet was as good as the restaurant food. No lines at the buffet, but you had to wait at every restaurant and they did not take reservations.....Bad idea...... so when they told you to come back in 20 minutes, then you at the back of the line...bad idea... Bar drinks were good if you told them what liquor to use, if not, you got the cheap stuff and it was bad...... Negative...... no swim up bar......Rooms were alright...... Very clean...comfortable king bed, hot water, tub and shower, mini bar, and sat. tv, with american channels...( marina suite),nothing fancy or over the top.... You could book excursions at the resort and they left from the resort... very nice and reasonable........ You could also rent a car at the resort for $30/day and explore the island...A must......Fantastic beaches and terrific blue water with white sand..... Must things to do. Orient Bay, Anguilla, Prickly Pear, Pinnel Island, Marigot,Philipsburg, Mayo Bay, Certified dive, if certified, Oyster Bay, and numerous other small private beaches..... The Riu is located on Anse Marcel, French Side, (quiet side), the opposite side for the airport and all the tourists........ A great place to stay to be close to a lot of the attractions...... I would give the resort a solid 3, maybe 31/2........
