A perfect destination for travelers who want a few days of relaxation, beach and sun, offering tranquility and fun alike.
The location is beautiful - in a bay surrounded by mountains. The bay is protected so there are no big waves, making it a great place for kids. Being surrounded by mountains has its drawbacks as well. There is not a good way to take a long walk on the beach and to exit you need a taxi unless you are a gook hiker. The exit is steep. The resort is really not close to anything so if you want to go out it is a $30-$50 cab ride one way. Most of the things to see and do are on the other side of the island. The hotel itself is a bit old but in good condition. The room was clean and very comfortable. I couldn't figure out why the shower had a half glass door that opened, though. Every time we took a shower we needed to use 2 towels to clean up the flood in the bathroom. The hotel administrative staff were friendly and helpful. On the other hand, the restaurant staff were overworked and couldn't keep up with the number of clients - which seemed to cause much frustration. Some had attitudes and forgot that the people they were serving were the source of their income. Asking for coffee at breakfast was a bit too much sometimes and was followed by unfriendly comments from the staff. I didn't feel a general problem with the workers, but always felt like there were not enough staff. At the buffet restaurant, I had several meals where nobody came to offer me water or anything to drink. The waiters were always trying to clear and set tables for the next clients. They couldn't keep up.Same feeling at the pool area. There was one person going around with a drink cart who was doing her best to be friendly, but she should have had help for the size of the place.Overall the place is nice but I left feeling like a nuisance to several of the staff. Not wat I want from a vacation.
Specious room, beautiful location, very good food and the best entertainment . Me and my friend we had the best time of ours life . The trip to Anguilla was absolutely amazing the water just so clear the beach just beautiful. Staff off the hotel very polite and professional , grounds very well kept ,activities are happening whole day , great pool ,clean bathrooms overall I will rate the hotel 5 stars.
Great scenery but subpar managementPros:View is amazingFacilities and rooms are up-to-dateQuiet Cons:Service was not good - waiters rolled their eyes when I asked for a drink. When I asked for a tea, they never came with it. I had to ask three times before receiving a napkin. Waiters did not come around often at buffets and at a la carte restaurants. Hotel staff was not welcoming and not friendly. Management appears non-existent. We upgraded our rooms to the superior suite and got far less than a "superior" suite. The room you get is not as pictured on their website. When we asked to speak to the manager, they told us the manager was out until the day we check out.According to their paperwork, there is a 24 hour bar. The bar closes at 11:30pm each night. Dinner buffet should be open until 10pm but all food gets taken away before that time.24 hour room service menu is extremely limitedWatched people get turned away at the a la carte restaurants because "they were at capacity." There were plenty of tables available. No nightclub as stated in the paper work and the nightly entertainment is just audience members coming on the stage and doing nothing special. Of the 4 nights I was there, two shows were the same. Small Beach. Only two double kayaks, two single kayaks and two paddle boards. Non-motorized sports were difficult to do due to the lack of equipment.Public Bathrooms are scarce and filthyNeed pool towel cards for towels. Pool towel hut is far from beach and closes at 4:30 pm. The pool closes early- 6pmVery little outdoor lighting at night Gym is tiny. There are only three treadmills and two ellipticals, one of which was out of service. No available towels in the gym and nothing to wipe the machines after use.
This was the the worst stay ever. So bad I do t know where to began. I'm still here and I just want to go home however I'm here for a dear friends wedding. I called the front desk 12 times total and three of these calls were simply to removed a baby reptile (I have a phobia unfortunately). I called before noon and after three hours of waiting for housekeeping I called again. I was told someone would come so I went waited some more but after the 12th hour and almost missing my friends wedding I was told house keeping left until the morning and complain at that time. Needless to say I could not sleep but no one at the front desk cared about me calling or offered any assistance. That is only one of my many complaints.
Traveled to the Riu Palace from July 5th to the 10th Check in was very easy, our room was ready upon check in and we received a welcome drink. Our room was on the marina side and was very nice. No issues with cleanliness or service. Balcony had a great view of the marina and the mountains. Buffet breakfast was average at best, coffee was super strong . Sitting inside was better with the morning humidity being uncomfortable Lunch buffet was ok in an outside setting. Dinner was a choice of 2 outside restaurants Both menus have a choice of delicious entrees but i would highly recommend bringing bug repellent. The Cyrstal restaurant was inside and air conditioned.however it was very small with limited seating. The dinner buffet was good and you could also eat inside. The entertainment was disappointing to say the least. There is a free shuttle that will take you to the Princess casino at night . They have entertainment on Tuesday Friday Saturday and Sundays and its better than the shows at the Riu The staff at the Riu from the front desk to the housekeeping to the bars and the pool and beach, go out of there way to be friendly and accommodating. Go to Anguilla for a day trip ,the beaches are outstanding. I found 50 50 split with the taxi drivers some just so nice and some very indifferent Overall a very nice hotel in a very beautiful and quiet setting
