A perfect destination for travelers who want a few days of relaxation, beach and sun, offering tranquility and fun alike.
Upon arrival the resort was in a time warp from the 70's. The rooms had a very musty odor and I'm sure having carpet for flooring didn't help. The food, what a huge disappointment. No matter what you tried it was barely warm and all of the meats were so over cooked. It was like eating rubber. We thought, it's pretty hard to screw up breakfast but they did. Again nothing was hot and never warm. I spoke to the manager and he had absolutely no interest with my complaint. Then the pool. It was beautiful but ICE COLD. On any given day out of seven two to three people at the most went in it. It was painfully uncomfortable to go in it. The Beach, what beach!!!! The water came up to the retaining wall. So, the beach wasn't usable. It was the biggest waste of money and we will never stay at a Riu again. Oh, we also got eaten alive by mosquitoes along with many other guests.STAY AWAY!!!!!
We visited Riu Palace resort at January 2016 and January 2017. This resort was rated as a 5 star resort. It is definitely not a five star resort by any means. The hotel, the grounds, food, service none of it represents a 5 star resort. Rooms are smell, plumbing is very old, and hot water was a problem in rush hrs. The room has an old carpet and it’s filthy. The bathroom toilet has no doors. The bathroom door even when closed you can see inside. Very uncomfortable!!! Rooms definitely need to be renovated. There are stones in the ocean; it's very difficult to walk. Even if you are very careful you still get scratches because if you walk into the water you are not able to see the rocks and they also bang into your legs while you are in water. Looks like few scoops of excavator and problem will be decided. We have all these cuts and scrapes on our feet and legs now. Food in a buffet is always the same. Was very plain. We never got to eat in 'specialty' restaurants because no reservation. Entertainment is Horrible. Manager was very snobby: one evening he called to police because some person plaid piano and a lot of people really had a fun. But overall the resort is 3 to 4 star only. We travel approximately twice a year to different resorts so we try to compare objectively. We talked to other people and they also had the same opinion.
I visited here with some friends back in may 2015 (but am unable to select this date so far back) I'm writing this review late but I figured I owe it to this hotel. Staying here was my first ever all-inclusive experience (I don't usually stay at all inclusive resorts). I'll start off with the positives. This place is nestled between two hills away from everything else. The facility is clean, grounds are well kept, and the beach is beautiful. The staff is accommodating for the most part of our stay. The negatives: the beach was so crowded! I had originally selected this hotel because I'm not a fan of huge hotels with hundreds of people everywhere- I prefer relaxing. I found out during my stay that others can pay a fee and use the hotel and beach for the day. Which is probably why the place was so packed! It was hard to find decent spot on what seemed like a tranquil beach. There was also staff entertaining people with loud music playing and people dancing. It gave the place a very spring break type feel, which is fine if that's what you're going for. I later researched that the entertainment on the beach and music is very common at Riu hotel chains. This is fine for some, however I'm an ocean lover and would rather hear the waves than listen to music. For me it was more annoying that relaxing. I still give this place a 3/5 for its location and up to date rooms but I don't think I'll be back here again. I can see how some people would like this atmosphere but I prefer a more relaxing time and less loud music on the beach and I really don't like that out of hotel guests can use the facility leaving their own hotel guests looking for space to relax.
Boaring place, nothing to do. No entertainment, sport room with 5 machines "out of order". Food choices are limited, and quality "very poor". Last few days the Ocean was to stormy, and water covered the entire beach area.Rooms, and furniture below standard, and does not deserve current rating !
RIU Palace St Martin was one of the best resorts we've ever visited. The staff was amazing, especially Karyll he was very helpful upon our arrival! The exclusivity of the resort as it sits in between two mountains giving you the feel of being on a private island. We enjoyed the privacy! The property is clean and well taken care of. Overall it is one of the most beautiful if the most beautiful sceneries we've ever been too.
